Another great experience with delicious food! Place was packed, but we were seated and greeted by our server very promptly. My husband and I shared the steak that was a little overcooked, but seasoned perfectly and tasted great. Our boys both went with pancakes, and they looked delicious. Our oldest went with plain pancakes, while our youngest went with chocolate chip pancakes. The coffee was hot and fresh too. I always think about ordering the chicken fried steak or the corned beef hash, but it's hard not to order their delicious biscuits and gravy. Someday I'll make it for lunch. read more

This is my first time dining here with my family, and my wife was correct...It was delicious. We weren't the only ones that wanted to visit because the place is packed, but we were seated very quickly. Our server was very friendly, looked somewhat frazzled with all the customers, but still managed to pull off great customer service. My wife and I shared the 14 ounce ribeye that was cooked a little more like medium well than medium, but it was seasoned well and tasted good. Our over medium eggs were cooked perfectly. We stopped by breakfast recently, and the experience was pleasant overall First, the service was outstanding. The staff were friendly, which really made for a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food, however, was just okay. While everything was cooked properly, there wasn't much that stood out. The flavors were a bit underwhelming, It wasn't bad by any means--just nothing particularly special. If you're looking for a decent breakfast, it'll do the job, but I wouldn't go out of my way for the food alone. We found our new favorite brunch / breakfast spot! We even went two days in a row. :) It was the perfect, quaint restaurant and there were lots of locals in there. We didn't have a wait on Saturday or Sunday morning. The tables are pretty close together but not that you feel like you're on top of the next table. Can't believe there's a drive through also! The americano was delicious, I love that they have their own little coffee booth inside the restaurant. Biscuits and gravy were to die for and the hangover was definitely named perfectly. He couldn't eat the whole thing. Everything was cooked to perfection and we had no complaints of service. Love this place, definitely bring someone that you want to impress! read more

I have been searching for a unique, high quality, friendly, and affordable breakfast/brunch spot, for the five long years I have lived in Omaha, to call my new favorite comparable to my KC favorite before moving here. This place checked all the right boxes! My 2 kids and I visited and were seated promptly and attended to by the kindest of wait staff in the clean, modest, dining area. There were many intriguing menu options and some that you won't find anywhere else in this city. Most everything is made on site and fresh including the corned beef that my daughter tried, and I sampled, and it shows in the flavor. I tried the German Farmer which is a delicious authentic dish straight from the owner's grandparents (he stopped by and we had a nice friendly chat). The portion was generous enough that I was able to take some home to enjoy later. They also have a nice outdoor seating area and we noticed someone brought their dog. The owner was quick to bring a bowl of water out for it too! I really appreciated the dog-friendly option and may have to bring my pup next time and I will definitely be back to try more dishes as soon as I am able. I especially look forward to trying the onion soup that I am told rivals a more upscale location in town. read more

We came in closer to 10 the Saturday of CWS and it was packed but we were sat in minutes walking in, asked our drink order immediately and food not too long after. The quality and service didn't skip a beat as the tables constantly turned over and the crowd didn't stop coming. The prices are GREAT compared to other breakfast spots and it's all homemade. The owner even stopped by to check on us and had a great chat. They pride themselves on treating their staff right, staffing appropriately, and taking care of the customer. This was a great meal for $22 (including tip)! Chicken fried chuck was interesting, and although not quite as good as steak in my opinion, it was something new and had a great flavor. The eggs were cooked great. I subbed sausage patties for the hash browns, this was a $1 up charge--much cheaper than most. It came with a side of pancakes which were just ok, nothing amazing. Overall I would definitely return. Service was great and the manager was extremely kind and friendly--made us feel like our business was really helping the place out which was great. Stopped by this local spot with a party of 3 just five minutes before closing on a Sunday. We didn't know it closed at 2 pm... but the host seated us and the waitress took our orders without mentioning their closing time. I think that says a lot about the team here. They made us feel welcomed and comfortable... knowing we have broken the unwritten rule (bum rushing da club at closing). Needless to say the service was awesome. The food was equally awesome. Went here for a meeting but I'll be back whenever my morning brings me out this way! Great atmosphere. Wonderful and attentive staff. Uncomplicated food choices with wonderful quality ingredients. I had a chef salad. Seems boring but the grilled chicken was so perfectly seasoned it is a don't miss. I chose the homemade 1000 island dressing and the am so glad I did. Another day on the tenderloin trail. My pal and I went out for lunch on a Friday. I arrived around 12:45 and it was a busy place. By the time my buddy arrived at 12:52 it was starting to clear out. The service we had was very friendly, a little slow to take our order and didn't really check up on us. Our drinks were empty for quite awhile. Not the end of the world, like I said very friendly. The tenderloin was good, thick and juicy and fried just right. We both had to ask for more mayo as it was on the very light side. The fries were good as well, we appreciated that they were seasoned with more than just salt. Overall super solid place. The food going out around us looked good a lot of breakfast for lunch orders it looked like. Located in the Luxe Apartment Complex, the restaurant faces the intersection of Portal and 96th St. Open for breakfast and lunch. Closes at 2pm. Pretty open concept with a series of tables. A little music playing in the background. Noise level is average. Simple layout. Good staffing levels. A little disappointing that we had to wait 10 minutes to place our order with as many staff as they had on the floor. Menu has a good selection. Much of the food is made from scratch. We went with breakfast for lunch and got biscuits and gravy along with huevos rancheros. Both were good. Gravy on the biscuits is just a little thin and could use a touch more salt but still good. Huevos had good flavor. Staff were attentive and checked on us multiple times. Steve the owner came by to check in and see how everything was going. I think we saw him engage with every table during our time there. Overall a good meal. There are a number of other items on the menu we look forward to trying and we will be back. This is a favorite nearby stop for us but we tried something different today. We shared the steak & eggs breakfast, it was served already divided onto two plates which was a nice touch. The thick steak was cooked exactly as we asked, and the owner stopped by to see how we liked it; he is a beef lover and only serves steaks that have not been frozen. Everyone was so nice and they made me feel very welcome, even though I was doing dining alone. I was on the hunt for a great chicken fried steak and I found it at Café Diem! The outside was so perfectly crispy and delicious and the steak was done perfectly, not dried out and easy for me to chew, which is really important to me because I have problems with my jaw. They even have a full service coffee area now so next time I go I definitely will try special coffee. It felt like a homestyle Café. The food is tasty and cooked to perfection. You could not find a better place for breakfast or lunch. The owner and his wife manage this cafe. He is the "bull cook" and she ramrods the dining area. This place was absolutely jammed on a Sunday morning at 10:00 am. Thankfully, we got a seat outside. The decor is stripped down and very utilitarian so people are coming for the food. The coffee was very bland. It really needs to be better. If it was, then 4 stars. I had Eggs Benedict. The sauce is the thing and it really didn't have the flavor or bite that the best places have. It is tough to make really good Eggs Benedict, but this was a good effort. The ham was very good. The popularity of Cafe Diem tells me that the owner is doing something right. Let me just tell you right now the blueberry pancakes were delicious and I wish I would have ordered more. The breakfast BLT was good, but something you either need to eat right away when at home or go into the restaurant to eat hot. My husband said the workers were great and the drive thru service was amazing. Took a little longer than normal fast food but you get what you pay for. I have been there several times and have been thoroughly satisfied each time the food is good and they have amazingly crispy and perfectly cook bacon that is worth the trip from anywhere. One of the main reasons for returning was the incredible service we received on our first visit. My wife , day and I were waiting on our son to arrive. Being that we anticipated his arrival being very soon, we order for him. When our food arrived, we put a plate over his food to keep it warm. The waitstaff offered that to place it under the warmer until he arrived. Well, he took long than anticipated and when he did arrive, the owner insisted that he would remake his food to ensure that my son was 100% satisfied with his meal. This not expected or required, but demonstrated the owner's commitment to customer satisfaction. That one gesture will having me going back time and time again. read more

I judge a breakfast place on how well they do it. It was delicious and hot. The hash browns were perfect the chicken fried steak was also on point and the eggs were exactly like I like them I order a biscuit instead of toast, it came split buttered and grilled/toasted on the flat top, a very nice touch. My wife had the breakfast BLT. She said it was very good. She's pretty picky. She picked me so...she knows good stuff. It's close to our house so we'll be going back for sure. Update: We are sort of regulars now. Some places over time, quality will drop. Not here. Still same great quality. read more

We went in for breakfast on a Sunday morning at 10AM and our party of three was seated immediately, though the restaurant looked full. The employees seem to have a great rhythm to serving on a timely basis and tables turnover quickly. Our waitress, Laura, was attentive and personable. She made the dining experience even more enjoyable. We all were very impressed by the many choices on the menu (including gluten-free) and the food was excellent! It seems they specialize in MADE-FROM-SCRATCH dishes, AND AVOIDING frozen and the typically-sourced restaurant distributor options. For example, my corned beef hash was made on site from slow roasted brisket and my husband and daughter split an order of biscuits and sausage gravy (in addition to their chosen individual entrees) and they raved about the homemade biscuits and deliciously-spiced gravy. The only thing I'd change is the size of coffee cups. They're very small! The staff was great about trying to keep up with refills on water and coffee (which we consume a lot of) but that's a lot of extra work for them.
