She told me that they charge $5 for the covid cleaning procedure, like sanitizer, spray etc. I'm like, What.. they dont even have plastic that separates one chair to another like other salons. All of business in nyc are doing covid precautions, but so far only this place charge the costumer. Omg. But whatever, i didn't feel like cancelling my appointment over 5 bucks. Im giving this place one star for the longest wait of my life even though I had an appointment. I came to this place after reading about a Groupon deal for a gel mani although people rate this place highly for hairs and etc. I think the customer service can use some reshaping and organization. I got here at 2 PM and got an appt for an hour and a half later (3:30 Pm) and I'm still waiting at 4 PM. The receptionist took a leisurely walk and when she returned back she never checked in the people who freely took a seat in the chair never confirming their appt. and time. One nail technician (the Asian one) took well over 40 minutes to do a young child's manicure which is plain crazy I mean how much work and cuticle cutting can you do on small child. This same inexperienced woman began to attend to me asking questions throughout on how to do a gel manicure. After 3 1/2 hours I ended up walking out when I began to noticed the crappy work she began to do on my nails. This was the biggest waste of 3 1/2 hours of my life but at least I confirmed that this place is not worth the reviews they get. read more

Wax # 2 So I'm doing a bit, where I tell my esthetician, that it's my first time getting a wax to see how they treat me. Gotta say, I think I found my new regular spot. I searched this place on Groupon this morning, but stupidly refunded it without realizing it. But I didn't realize that till it was time to pay. Not a problem, the lady said that I could come back with the voucher and just pay now. You have to make an appointment. I tried calling but they open at 10 am. So I decided to send them a message through Yelp. Got a message within a few hours and great, I was squeezed in for the same day! My esthetician was very nice. Her phone rang a few time which she immediately shut off and even apologized for! She kept asking if I was okay throughout the process. But the ending was the true defining factor. My first time getting the wax, the esthetician went back to the areas she had already waxed and would wax again. She would show me the strip without any hair. To make sure she didn't leave any hair. That double checking really does make all the difference between an esthetician who is properly doing her job and someone who is just rushing. I wish I could give this place 10 stars. I came in today with my dark brown hair hoping for a change. I've been wanting to go platinum for a while now, and decided I would come to Lucy for help. I know that going from dark brown to platinum blonde is almost impossible in just one trip to the salon, but thanks to Lucy, I'm now sporting icy platinum blonde hair! I have gone to MANY hair salons all over NYC (including Gigi's in Astoria, Warren Tricomi in flatiron, &hair salon in soho, etc.) and nothing compares to the work that Lucy has done today. To top it off, she is the absolute sweetest person, and is so passionate about what she does. She even stopped mid-blowout to go back to toning a part that she saw hadn't been toned fully. She totally could have just went on with the blowout to get me out of there quickly, but instead, took me back to the sink to finish toning the part that seemed a little uneven. My waxer was a middle-aged Spanish lady, apologies because I didn't get her name. It was my first time getting a Brazilian wax and she was so sweet and comforting. Basically felt like my mom. It was very sanitary, no double dipping, and the pain was bearable (but I have a high pain tolerance). I only have two complaints about this place. The day before I was supposed to come in, however the trains were very messed up. They wouldn't let me come in so I had to reschedule. Today's procedure took like 15 minutes, so actually I could have made it yesterday. They need to work on accommodating customers better, especially if there are unforeseen circumstances. The other complaint is that she missed a few spots that I can't fix myself, but other than that this place is really good and cheap. read more

Theresa is professional, gentle & quick- a great combo for a waxer- best wax in years and I'm a baby when it comes to sensitive bits! Lucy not only highlighted but transformed my hair. I came to brandmerk through a Groupon, I live in the area and was surprised how I've never seen this place. It's off of broadway around a corner so that explains the Groupon. With this Groupon you had to schedule an appt after you purchase through the brandmerk coupon. First time for that, instead of calling so I did , a day before. scheduled the first time slot avail which was 12. I had checked the following day a couple of times to see if they would confirm the time and nothing. I decided to go anyhow even though I got no reply. I told them I had a Groupon for 12 and she looked in her book talked to another woman and they looked confused. Said they had no idea but my daughter and I can't be done together since we weren't on schedule . This was fine because I can see they were trying to accommodate us. Long story short (lol) although they were friendly and accommodating this place is providing way too many services that they can't handle and there's only one seat with one nail dryer. I bought a Groupon for a gel manicure and made an appointment for yesterday. When I arrived I was taken almost immediately, however the woman doing my nails was on her phone for the majority of the time, only speaking to me to state "pick a color." The nail tech did not ask me what shape I wanted my nails and provided to file them down as she saw fit. When she finished, I looked at my nails and informed her that they were uneven and instead of comparing them she filed every nail again, making them shorter and STILL uneven. The nail tech asked me if it was better, I stated no it is not but at this point they were so short I did not want her to file them again. The nail tech left debris from the filing on my nail and was proceeding to paint them, I had to ask her if she was going to remove it before it gets painted in. Overall, the nail tech did a sloppy job on my nails. I will never go back there again regardless of how cheap it is, I usually pay full price for my gel manicures and I will continue to because this place was not worth it. This review is long overdue! I am not a review person, but this salon became a personal favorite, so had to give the people credit for their amazing services. I have been coming here for a while now to do full body waxing. I found this place on Groupon and Teresa was my my service provider. She was extremely professional and really won my heart with her work ethics. She did not try to make me feel uncomfortable by promoting any other services or asking for any extra charges. At the end, what genuinely made me happy was that they did not even charge tax unless I was paying with a card! I knew then and there that I was going to be a return customer! After a lot of appointments with Teresa, since last two appointments Joanne has been seeing me for full body waxing; SHE IS THE MAIN reason I am giving this review! She is incredibly talented and professional! I have been doing waxing since last eight years and been to numerous places, but no one ever did such an outstanding job as Joanne did! I do not like to see a single piece of hair on my body other than on my scalp, and Joanne made sure that my body was spotless! Not horrible for the Groupon price of $15 for a gel manicure offered last summer (2018) but I've checked recently on Groupon and the price raised to $21 for a gel manicure. They have a large selection of gel colors which is satisfying for such a cheap price. The price and selection is great for students who in addition can receive 20-25% off local Groupon deals. My nail tech was a lady with short hair and glasses and I remember she was rough both times that she had done my nails. She did not handle with care and when I told her to not file my nails down so much since they are already very thin and break easily, she argued her case back that it needs to be filed thin which is not true. I know many females not just myself, that do not prefer to have their natural nails filed thin as a paper, I don't understand why it's hard for certain nail techs to understand that simple command. Along with the extreme filing down my nails, my cuticles were cut extremely and it was even painful. I've never had my cuticles looking as worse than after that day. The yellow color chosen was also a bit blotchy, look at the photos I've attached. Nonetheless the Groupon price is still cheaper than gel manicures in the neighborhood. The other nail tech with long hair has done a better job in the past and is less aggressive and I would recommend to go to her specifically in the future. read more

I bought a Groupon for the first time ever, so I was a bit nervous to use it, but they honored it swiftly without any trouble or questions asked (and the price was awesome, I've never gotten a wash / cut / blowdry for less than $40 in NYC!) I left a review before and the manager replied in a manner no other manager never should or has responded before on Yelp. Her attitude speaks for itself, ladies please watch yourselves. Here's a tip to her: the point of a groupon is to attract more local customers to show that your service and salon is great and if the groupon customer likes it they will come again and pay full price. It's a marketing strategy. Which based on your reply to my last review, you have just stated that you don't treat and will continue to treat groupon customers in a lesser manner than full paying customers. However you were the one that put your business on Groupon. Ask yourself- why did you do it? To gain more clients or to just get a couple of bucks in your pocket? I understand you are upset Ale but rather than lashing out like the teenager you think I am, take my advice as a person who actually knows people who work for the NYS cosmetology licensing department, and your salon did have many flaws. Some that I didn't even point out on this site or reported because my intentions and the point of yelp is to help local worthy of merit businesses thrive and local people like myself learn about establishments such as yours. I recently went in to retouch my roots. Everything was going good, although my scalp was burning but I was used to that feeling since I have bleached my hair for years now. End result looked amazing. I originally spoke with one of the ladies (in person) working there and she told me it would cost around 80 dollars but turns out I got charged a bit over DOUBLE the amount that I was told. I was shocked because if they looked at my hair they would know how much product needs to be used. I was not expecting to pay that much. I told the owner the price one of the employees told me originally before booking an appointment. The owner didn't care and simply ignored me saying that it was a lot of product that was being used on my hair which I understand but why did they not tell me that in the first place? I paid and left but don't plan on returning unfortunately. 2 days later I noticed my scalp was extremely dry and very itchy. I have never had this happen before. Also, they used the hair dye that I always use when my hair color washes out at home. I recognized the texture of the hair dye brand. I could've just simply saved my money and brought it at the beauty store myself which costs $4-$5 each bottle. I would not have mind paying extra knowing they are using a better hair dye and also if the employee had told me it would be extra because they are using more product than expected. Long story short, if you go to this place make sure you know how much the total cost will be or else you will get charged double the amount! I will say this though, I went in 2 weeks before my root touch up appointment and got a really nice hair cut! I purchased a Groupon and the hair cut was so good I wanted to return again which I did. 5 stars for the hair cut but the second time was disappointing due to the experience I had. read more
