Horrible customer service. You walk in and no one acknowledges you or even says hello. When you ask a question, the employees don't seem to have the knowledge or resources to give you a helpful answer. It honestly feels like a "help yourself" type of store. What really bothered me during my visit today was the attitude from one of the girls working at the front. I asked a question, and as I turned around to walk away, my 10-year-old daughter saw the employee roll her eyes at me. I was there with two 10-year-olds, so it was especially disappointing for them to witness that kind of behavior from an employee. Brandy Melville really needs to work on customer service training. Impolite workers and very disorganized. To start, other than a few items, the clothes here are nothing notable. They are bad quality and stretch tons and fade after one wash. Not only can u not return, but there are no fitting rooms either. How is that fair. You can seriously not distinguish any of the teen workers from the customers. Customer service and a superiority complex don't belong in the same sentence. The employees here are all young women who appear to be under the age of 25 who all reflect a concerning lack of professionalism and interpersonal skills by gossiping, rolling their eyes at customers when they need to return or need help with a clothing item. This kind of condicending behavior is unwelcoming and impressionable to the younger girls who shop here. Brandy Melville has built a strong brand, but the customer experience suffers when staff members treat shoppers as though they're an inconvenience. Investing in customer service training and reinforcing basic courtesy and professionalism would go a long way toward improving the in-store experience. Let's be clear: as a 50-year-old man, I am certainly not the primary target demographic for Brandy Melville, a trendy boutique women's fashion concern in niche markets around Southern California at least. But then, as the father of a 14-year-old girl, you would think the marketing wizards over at corporate would at least consider the possibility that I would need to venture into the store from time to time, or at least count for the possibility that I would be financing a small portion of their revenue. Sad to share that, after today's delightful experience at their Glendale location, I'm not likely to have them at the top of my gift card list anytime soon. Make no mistake, my daughter, and several of her friends, really seem to like the place. The clothes are stylish, not embarrassingly expensive for the most part, and don't fall apart after three washings. No, my issue is with their idiotic and not competitive policies regarding returns. It seems like a stupid thing, and yes I'm aware that no company technically needs to legally accept the returns. But today's trip was to exchange/return a duplicate item that my daughter received, and to be honest, we would've ended up spending more money here on new things as she shopped around. The items in question were dubbed "Brandy Boxers"-- some short shorts that are worn under skirts and such, or if you're really adventurous, apparently, as outerwear. We walked into the store, tags still attached to the unwarned items, and were informed that all sales were final on these. I can understand not returning worn undergarments, and imagine that Glendale rents and tight margins would require some strictures on turning in dirty underwear for store credit or cash. But no, these unwarned items with tags still attached were not accepted. We were further informed that items purchased online could not be exchanged in store, and needed to be shipped back for cash. When we finally arrived at some way too return one of the items in the store that was not unworn undergarments or whatever, the young lady behind the counter handed me a receipt instead of a gift card, and informed me I would be receiving an email with some kind of authorization code. None of it made any sense, and stealing a chapter from one of my old marketing classes, this was clearly designed to screw the customer after I lose the receipt, put it through the wash, forget about it, let it expire, etc. Again, Brandy Melville can make any stupid company-facing policies they want, so long as they're legal. And in this case, nothing illegal here. But the cost of that is other stores with customer-facing policies that seem to understand this is not a one time purchase like a home warranty or a timeshare, will see me as a return customer for my daughter's birthday in a couple of months, or for gifts she wants me to finance for her friends for their birthdays, or when winter turns to summer and we're shopping for the beach instead of school... you get the idea. Too bad, Brandy Melville... what a good wife you would be; but my life, my love, and my lady is... gonna be buying clothes someplace else moving forward. read more

i know that Brandy workers are notorious for being rude but I've never encountered rude employees until today. Besides from the girl who checked out my clothes, all the workers were very hostile and acted like I was illiterate for not knowing if they something I saw online (god forbid a girl has questions). Not only that, but they closed the fitting room despite the long line and wouldn't tell customers why. Literally rudest employees i've over experienced in a store ever. I had a return and she was already upset before anything even happened and didn't even greet me. We did the return and then i also had things to buy so she did that after. I returned 4 items and got 4 items that i payed for. She proceeds to take one of the items that i payed for away with the ones i returned. I kindly tell her that she took one of the ones i was buying and she gets super angry saying and blaming me for making her return one of the ones i wanted to buy. I showed her the receipt to show that i didn't get refunded that one, i only got refunded for 4 and she took 5 shirts. She was like okay and tries to make me pay for the shirt again. I showed her the receipt she just gave me showing that i already bought that shirt and she's like oh okay. No apology or anything. I recently visited this establishment, and up until now, I have never encountered an unpleasant experience with any of the brandy workers. Let me preface this by stating I'm a mom of 3 teenage daughters. So I've heard of this store/brand lately & ended up stopping in because we needed a gift card. It's located next to Lululemon & the movie theater in Americana @ Brand. It's a small space filled with clothes that I personally just don't get. Half of the stuff is plain/generic and the other half looks like thrift store finds, only they are new and not vintage. But again, I know it's what's in and hip right now. I was really surprised to find that nothing is branded, but realized that's part of their shtick. The price points weren't outrageous, but I personally wouldn't want to pay $60 for a sweatshirt emblazoned with a generic font "NEW YORK" on it. But I will say this- One of my daughters bought a couple pairs of earrings. Super simple, small hoops with a little star hanging from them. The next day a couple-worker correctly spotted them by brand??!!! It made me realize teen/young adult girls are REALLY into this brand & despite lack of labels, they all just KNOW that things are from this store! I didn't experience any problems per se, and the cashier was actually helpful in getting me my gift card. FYI it's not a typical plastic card- rather receipts in an envelope. *If your gift card is meant to be a surprise don't give them the recipient's email!* They email you a copy right away. We did see the staff confront a shoplifter, who defiantly claimed she shopped there a lot and wore her basic white rank into the store (clearly a lie). Definitely lack of strong management skills displayed by the employees on the floor as no one really knew how to handle that situation (I worked retail for years). I went into the Glendora store today and was surprised to be treated so poorly. I was looking at a long sleeve and reached for it and was pushed, literally PUSHED out of my way by a blonde girl(employee) so that she can hang things back on the rack. I stood there in shock, looked at my friends thinking "maybe I'm being dramatic" but their reactions were the same as mine; shocked. I did not say anything to her because I am not confrontational, and genuinely thought that it was an accident. But I realized that it wasn't an accident when I was in the fitting room trying on my clothes and I overheard her say "yeah did you see me push that tall bitch out of my way" and they started laughing. Not only did she make that comment but she then continued to comment on how my Uggs weren't "made" for me and make my feet look like mans feet. I was wearing TASMAN UGGS, they're the most popular Uggs out there right now!! I'm also a size 8, which is the average foot size for a woman, I don't have MAN feet. She later commented on how I was skinny but not "skinny skinny" and should "eat less" and i know all these comments were about me given that I'm 5'11, 6 foot in the shoes I was wearing today and well, she was the girl who pushed me. I decided while in the changing room to buy 2 shirts but while I was waiting in line, I felt very uncomfortable. That same girl, the blonde one, was by the fitting rooms talking shit with the other girl employees and looking in our direction. I have never felt so insecure, embarrassed and uncomfortable in my own body until today. It was a terrible experience and I would think regardless if they (the employees) like the customers that shop there or not but that they would value their jobs enough to make the store seem welcoming. But instead I felt watched, judged, and literally heard them judge me without them even knowing. I absolutely love Brandy Melville, they have the perfect basic tops and hoodies amazing sweatpants that are very comfortable and jeans that are also amazing! One thing that they can work on though is making their workers seem more approachable and ready to help, some of their workers seem very judgmental which shouldn't be happening in a clothing store. Another thing is when you order from them online the amount of days they say it's going to ship is so true, mine took about a week and half more. So if you want their clothes to be shipped by a certain time then I would suggest ordering early. Their packaging in their online orders is great, I got all my items and they were neatly packaged and organized!
