The restaurant is beautifully designed and the ambience strikes a perfect balance between relaxed and refined, creating an atmosphere that makes you want to sink in and stick around - we didn't want to leave. The service was outstanding. Every team member we interacted with was attentive without being intrusive, genuinely friendly and helpful. And the food was phenomenal. Every dish was bursting with flavor, and presented beautifully - we had mussels, crab cakes, rainbow trout, hanger steak and Beef Wellington, with perfectly cooked vegetables, followed by delicious desserts. EXCEPTIONAL!!! It's rare to find a place where the ambience, service, and food all stand out on their own--and even rarer to find them all in perfect harmony. Brasserie is a true gem. The pros are that it has easy parking, the ambiance is really nice, the waiters are friendly, and they have a wide selection of food options. My mocktail was also good and interesting, different. The seafood options looked interesting, but we didn't try them. The shrimp they subbed for my foie gras were very good. The cons are that my husband and I were not impressed with the quality of our red meat. It was too chewy to be good quality, we almost wondered if it was frozen and then cooked. The sauces were also mediocre for a French restaurant. I'd come again to see if the seafood options are better but overall I'm surprised this restaurant has as high of a Yelp rating as it has. read more

This was our first time here, but certainly won't be the last. Entering the restaurant you feel that you're at a French brasserie in Paris. The diligence & creativity that went into constructing this restaurant was awesome. The aforementioned, wouldn't mean much, if the food was not at the same standard. Well I'm happy to report that not only did it meet the standard, but it far exceeded it. The menu has many of the traditional dishes that French restaurants are famous for, such as foie gras, escargot, duck, etc. That being said, we opted for the Prix Fixe menu that is offered daily until 6 PM. We both began with the wedge salad accompanied by a house made dressing. The combination resulted in one of the tastiest salads I've ever eaten. For the main dish my wife had Bronzino, which was a whole fish that was filleted and accompanied by a mouth watering ratatouille. For my entree I had a tender hanger steak which was cooked perfectly, and was accompanied by potato au gratin. Finally, for dessert my wife had a slice of chocolate mousse cake, while I had one of my all time favorite desserts, lemon meringue pie. We also were very pleased to meet Chef Aless, where we told her that we absolutely loved everything. Finally, service was second to none. I recommend that anyone wanting a great night out, should run not walk to this awesome establishment. read more

Went here for the first time last night after meaning to try it for a while, and it did not disappoint. The interior is trendy yet cozy, with a beautiful renovation that makes the space feel warm and inviting. There were only a waiter and a busboy working, but service never missed a beat and kept pace throughout the night. We came with a large group, which gave us the chance to try several dishes--the pork chops, branzino, beef bourguignon, French onion soup, hanger steak, roast chicken, and ratatouille. Everything was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The menu changes seasonally, which makes me even more excited to come back. There's also a great wine selection and a solid cocktail menu. I guess I'll start with the good: The place is beautifully decorated and the bathroom was clean. The staff were also very friendly. Now, unfortunately, all the bad: I have no idea what happened. Did we just hit this place on an off night? Are the other reviewers delusional? I'm not sure but this was one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. The service was incredibly slow for a Tuesday night with four total tables in the entire place. I would have cut them some slack had the restaurant been packed but it definitely wasn't. We chose the leak dish for an appetizer and it was ice cold. Not lukewarm or even room temperature. It was as if they took a leak from the refrigerator and served it to us for $18. The next problem was that from 7pm until 7:45pm we just sat there waiting for our meals. At this time I noticed the table to the right of us complained that they had ordered fries which never came and the table to the left complained about their meals coming before the appetizer. How can you get so much wrong with only four total tables in the entire restaurant? It's not worth it to go into detail about how bad the mains were but I'm assuming the actual chef that people rave about was not the one who cooked our food because it was bland and dry and absolutely not worth the hype or price tag. I'm glad we tried this place but will not be returning. read more

Just an outstanding place! We had lobster tonight and on Fathers Day we had lamb chops. Food is perfectly prepared and tastes as good as it looks. I don't remember the last time I had a lobster as delicious as tonight. Tonight was the lobster special night but honestly ANY night is special! I loved the pork chops in winter too. Chef Aless prepares everything perfectly w all of the freshest ingredients and she locally sources as much as she can find. And the atmosphere is beautiful. Came here early on a Saturday with a large group - no wait, a lot of tables to choose from. Ordered from their prix fixe dinner ($45), available every day. Got their escargot, which was very buttery and decadent, hanger steak - cooked perfectly and served with potato gratin, and ended with a large piece of chocolate mousse. For the table, we shared their pan-seared foie gras, which came with a generous spread of fig jam, tomatoes, and toast; and their big bowl of mussels. We all came here last Tuesday night. Our waiter was amazing! He was handling the entire place solo it seemed and never wrote a single thing down. Kept checking on us and brought us more wine when wanted and water without even asking. Fantastic new restaurant in Massapequa that features some great French food in a nice casual setting. Came here for happy hour during the week and had a great experience. We sampled a bunch of small plates with the oysters, tuna tartar, and mussels being our favorite. The French onion soup and fries were also delicious. The service was top-notch, and we even got to meet the owner/executive chef Aless. She was super friendly and nice. I'd say somewhere between 4 and 4.5 stars! We were kindly greeted by Michael who was our server. He was very attentive throughout our entire meal. He was knowledgeable of the menu, and since it's still a new place he was eager to see what we would order. Michael seemed to really care a lot about the place he was working is often rare to see, but definitely nice to experience. We came in on a Tuesday, eager to try and share the $20 mussel pots. We had a choice of marinara, chefs choice, or white wine cream. We went with the white wine cream and that sauce was AMAZING! (Came with French fries). Michael saw us dipping the bread in the sauce and brought us more before we even had to ask (thank you)! And when we were offered extra plates by a busboy, he only brought one so I had to kind of struggle with the mussels on my bread plate. After the appetizers, we ordered meals. I decided to have a prix fixe meal which included the French Onion Soup, chose the Sweet & Spicy Hanger Steak and a crème brûlée for dessert - all described below! The French onion soup was definitely different from one at a bar/grill chain-the broth has more depth to it; a richer taste and was good with a likely, torched cheese coating. The soup itself definitely should have been a hotter and it would have been perfect! My Sweet & Spicy Hanger Steak came with chimichurri sauce underneath which I didn't see at first so asked for more, but it was so so good either way. I did get a few bites of fat but it was however cooked to a medium rare PERFECTION. It was supposed to come with Truffle Mashed Potatoes- as per the menu I was given and in the photo, but instead came with scalloped potatoes instead (not what I wanted & didn't like). My boyfriend had the lamb shank and he wasn't a big fan. He said there was a lot of fat (pictured). The decor and ambiance of the restaurant was really nice and cozy. I've been meaning to try this new place ( newish?) in Massapequa. I loved the decor and they did a great job renovating it into a French vibe space. Bar is pretty and the fire place gives it a cozy feel. Service was great and very attentive. I had a spritz and it was good. For apps, we did the cheese board, the ravioli and the tuna tartare. I opted for the price fix menu and had the onion soup. Everything was good. Ravioli portion was small for 16 dollars imo. The chicken cordon bleu was just okay. I'm used to it being rolled and stuffed nicely with ham and cheese. This was one large piece and seemed sliced with a piece of ham slid inside, barely had the cheese. The crème brûlée was very good. Overall, I thought it was good, would come back and sit at the bar and get an app. read more

We were anxious to try this fairly new restaurant. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The atmosphere was somewhat dingy and uninspiring. Ok, I thought, give it a chance......the food must be amazing. We ordered from the price fixe menu. I Had the French onion soup, my longtime favorite. While it looked impressive, with a nicely fluffed and browned cheese top, the flavor was absolutely bland. Our main dishes followed: the beef bourguignon. This was pretty awful. The cubes of beef were very tasteless, with a strange powdery texture. Our desserts were absolutely delicious; the lemon tarts and the chocolate mousse cake being the only redeeming part of the dinner. The service was very friendly and accommodating, but seemed somehow less than professional and rushed. I would not go back. read more

We celebrated our Anniversary at Brasserie by Chef Aless last week. We had a wonderful time and a wonderful dinner. First of all, the restaurant is beautiful. The restaurant used to be a neighborhood sports bar, with scores of TVs, couches, high top tables. What a transformation! The place looks great!!! We were greeted by a very friendly staff and were presented with two glasses of champagne to toast our Anniversary. Our waiter was very good - professional, efficient and attentive. The restaurant has a Prix fixe Special. $45 for three courses. I had the French Onion Soup, the Chicken Cordon Bleu and a Lemon Meringue Tart. The soup was very very good - the onions were sweet and the cheese was melted to perfection. I'll be having that again. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was among the best I've ever had. Loved it. The Lemon Tart was very good. I was a little disappointed, but it was my fault because I read the menu wrong and was expecting a piece of traditional lemon meringue pie. Nonetheless, the tart was very good. My wife had the Creme Brûlée which she absolutely loved. During the dinner we had a very nice conversation with the owner, Justin. The restaurant has ample parking, the bathrooms are very nice and clean and the seating was comfortable. There are tables inside and on a very large enclosed patio. My only suggestion relates to the music that was playing. It was a little distracting. I would have preferred some light unobtrusive jazz, but that's just my personal taste. We will definitely be returning to Brasserie and I definitely wouldn't hesitate recommending the restaurant and bringing my friends along. read more

Find a different French restaurant. I gave 3 stars since 3 of us didn't care for our meals. Chicken cordon bleu was burnt on the outside, very small amount of cheese and ham within. A medium rare steak was cooked well on the inside but was overcooked on the outside. The maitre-de was all over the place and kept telling customers "we'll be right with you." The place is really cute with white tiles and a French feel. We started with the skillet of cambebert and it was To Die For. Hot and melty with a fig jam on top and a toasty baguette for dipping. I would go back just for that. I got a fish dish and my husband got the steak special and both were very good. The couscous was actually better the next day. We ended with profiteroles which I never am wowed by. They are as to be expected but the nutella on top hit the spot. I had a spicy strawberry tequila drink forget the name but the first one was AMAZING. Great what, perfect sweetness and left me with a buzz. The second drink took a long time to come out and fell short. After dinner we went to sit at the bar for a drink and no one was there? We were confused and left. One of the most genuine and talented chef on the island. My husband and I been back numerous time for the amazing food, customer service, and beautiful ambience. Our favorite must have is the new seared foie gra appetizer on the menu. It's not half off during happy hour but soooo worth it. Pan searing it is the only right way to have it. The arugula, heirloom tomatoes, toast, and fig jam pair so well with the foie gra. Tonight, we tried the hanger steak rare and let me tell you, perfection! I've been hearing such rave reviews of this restaurant. Finally went there tonight. Waiter was not friendly and so misinformed. Had to wait 15 minutes for him to approach our table and then another 15 minutes to receive our drink orders. This was a Thursday night and very few customers in the restaurant. The beef wellington for $58 was average. Nothing special even though the meat was cooked perfectly. Waiter did not ask how I'd like the meat done. Very blah experience. Would not go back nor recommend this restaurant. read more
