Driving through Ohio, we were searching for a quick spot for dinner. Thanks to the many reviews of locals and other road-trippers, we stopped here. After ordering online (which was extremely easy), we waited in the back parking lot for curbside pickup. We did have to wait a few minutes, but only because our fries were being made fresh - yum! While meandering downtown Columbus, I had walked by this little place a day prior and didn't notice it. Don't let the modest street-side appearance (if you notice it, that is) disuade you, this place is amazing! Walking in you are greeted by a build your own adventure kind of meal. There's a placard on the wall to help get you started: salad, sandwich (which is really a freshly made pita stuffed with your options) or a hummus plate. The guy at the counter said I'd get the biggest bang for my belly with a salad and that guided me completely! Excellent call! My disclaimer: I like all things Mediterranean and I like most all vegetables. (I'm convinced Brussel sprouts are the devil's fruit.) My base: 1/2 rice, 1/2 greens. Pita chips were my cronch for texture Pickled sweet beets and, cukes + radishes 1 scoop of hummus and 1 scoop of baba. (The baba was incredible) Spicy carrots, eggplant, and cauliflower tabbouleh Why do we have brisket in a Mediterranean spot? Who cares! GET IT. It was so delicate and flavorful. Why wasnt there more on my plate?! Oh because I also asked for falafel. Which is made to order. ALSO delicious! Everything topped with tahini dressing. The choices clearly made by a chef and not an accountant. Very very good. There is more seating I. This location than you'd expect. The intimate feel of each table or booth is an impressive achievement with how many people they can accommodate. Because of the bold choices, mixed with a fearful staff member, I had a bit of trouble ordering how I typically do. It went like this: "Hi there, If it's ok I'd like for you to choose my meal. I have no allergies and no preferences. Whatever you think is best, I'll likely enjoy" "Oh the options are up on the menu above you there" "I saw that, would it be ok if you picked the meal for me. Whatever you think, I'm sure it'll be great" "Do you want this rice or..." "Is it good?" "Yes" "Sure! I'll take it" This was repeated at every station. So it was a little cumbersome. A young lady recognized the trouble and shouted out a few fond recommendations to rescue the gentleman who was struggling. It was fantastic. Servings seemed small but I couldn't finish! (So obviously they weren't small). The food was so well prepared and flavorful that I think it slowed my eating enough for my stomach to catch up. I got a salad this last time and had a pita on the side-- definitely going this route in the future because it's a good portion of food & I can eat it as a salad, but still have a side of their warm, delicious pita! So I was meeting a friend and former co-worker here for lunch. It was her pick. She had been here before and suggested we come early to beat the lunch crowd. That worked fine for me - although I normally prefer to eat later. Parking was easy enough - finding a spot near Barnes and Noble and walking the block or so to the restaurant. Having not been here before and not too familiar with Mediterranean cooking, I was glad I looked at the menu and Yelp info ahead of time. My friend had already made it through the line and was just getting seated at a booth. I saw her as I walked in the door. Good timing and glad she found a free table. The restaurant is cafeteria style - go through the food line and pick what you want as you work your way to the register. And self-serve fountain drinks. I knew I wanted a bowl of greens with chicken shawarma on it. The rest of the choices was like working through a Subway or Chipotle line - see what it is and select on the spot. I generally stayed healthy but had to add some roasted veggies and a couple other items to try. At the end, I did opt for a fountain drink - wanting a Diet Pepsi but finding they had a diet I-don't-know-what that I settled for. The cashier rang me up - to the tune of $17 and change. There is an opportunity to tip - I did not, feeling broke already. Was I wrong? Don't know. I poured my soda, got my silverware and napkins and headed for the booth. With just two of us there was plenty of room and the noise level was quiet enough that talking was not a problem. The place was certainly packed and I'm glad we didn't come later as the line was long - having none really when I arrived. My bowl was very good. Drink was fine, too. I like the build your own bowl option - but also really liked the fact I didn't have to tip for table service on top of the food price as paying more than $20 for lunch just isn't right. Parking was also free (having worked downtown I appreciate that) and I also only go out for lunch a couple times a month now. Would I return? Man I love this place. Everything is super fresh and tasty. I love how easy it is to eat here as a vegan. Pretty much everything is vegan except the meat, cheese, and secret sauce. All other sauces, toppings, bases, and hell even their cookie is vegan. Love that!!!! I always get the falafel bowl. It's enough for two servings unless I'm super hungry. The sweet beets and cucumbers and radish were good. The cauliflower tabbouleh, grilled eggplant and grilled carrots were all fantastic. I had the special sauce and it was tasty. I also liked the hummus and baba ganoush. I do think it is a bit pricey for the amount of food but the quality of the food is very good. There are so many yummy items on the menu here, but my favroite one thus far has to be their pita sandwiches.  The taste is excellent, and the lamb bacon is simply the Bomb!   They've got some great toppings, particularly caramelized cauliflowers and special sauce.  The hummus here is exceptional as well; they make it fresh, with no citric acid preservative.  Oh, and try their Falafel too! I will start off and say I am obsessed with Brassica and I could eat here every day if I could afford it. It is located in the Short North so that means parking is limited, but hey totally worth it for the food and the views. When you walk in, you instantly get to see the menu. When people ask me about Brassica, I say it has the concept of a Chipotle, but for Mediterranean type of foods. It is on the pricey side and you will probably pay $10+ for a meal, BUT it is delicious and there are lots of vegetables so it must be healthy right? We'll just say so! You have two choices: a bowl with mixed greens or a house made pita with lentils and/or rice. You then choose a protein, but I am usually satisfied with just the vegetable options. It's like window shopping, but for food. Whatever looks good, just ask for it to be put in your bowl. I always get my bowls with hummus all the veggies, such as: pickles, eggplants, carrots, cauliflower, and pickled onions. If I am really hungry I get a side of fries and their fries are to die for. I typically ask for a side of their roasted pepper sauce because I can never finish my food in one sitting. Mix everything together and you have a bowl of heaven. I need to still try their housemade pita. It is a smaller building so seating is limited. They have booths to bar stools. This place was AMAZING! I tried the pita with hummus, falafel, chicken, beets, lettuce, cucumbers, their house sauce and MORE! Everything was so fresh and flavorful! My hubby tried their salad with brisket which he devoured. We also tried their margarita which was really good and fruity. Their sodas were also really good (I do wonder if they are house-made?). Everything tasted amazing! Their service was also great! They were super friendly and helpful. Brassica packs a punch with their delicious food! Their service is unmatched! I have been here a few times and loved it every time!
