I've been obsessed with Greek Food since my husband and I went to Los Olivos and stayed at Fess Parkers Inn - but that's another Oprah (can I say that anymore?) Show. This is my OCD - I have to find 'the place' where I can have my desires fulfilled until I've eaten so much Greek Food that I'm done for awhile. But as usual, I digress... So last weekend was the Greek Festival in Irvine - OMG, really good food and great prices. We love Christakis in Tustin but the prices... not unusual to spend 60.00 for not a lot of takeout and eating in is pricey - but the food is also very good. Thasos is good but can be hit or miss. Now, Bravo Avo, me happy. I knew I recognized Avo from somewhere and then it hit me - he had a place in Laguna Hills that I loved..and such a nice man-who can forget those eyes. So get to the point - hummus, stuffed grape leaves, Avo special dinner plate-7 hour roasted lamb is OMG, fantastic falafel (they should rename it that) and gratis baklava...23.00 My husband and I sat outside in our backyard, opened a nice bottle of red wine, lit some candles and inhaled the best 23.00 takeout I have ever had... I'm giving it 4 stars only because it's in a strip mall and while it's nice and very clean, it is a strip mall and not a place I would want to have 'date night.' What a delightful experience! We used a Groupon and tried Bravo Avo for the first time this weekend. Our eggplant appetizer was delicious, the pita bread was perhaps the best I have ever had, and my Chicken a'la Avo was mouth watering!! I asked for mine spicy (you have a choice) and it was perfect. My hubby tried the 7 hour braised lamb, and made thay little moaning sound he makes when he is happy with his meal! Avo, the owner, made his way over to chat us up for awhile and he is a charming host. Prices are a bit steep, but in my opinion, this is the best Greek food I have had in the area. We will definitely be back.... and next time I am saving more room for dessert! read more

Chicken a la Avo.... yummy. We've had it a million times and it's outstanding. Their pitas are the best as well. Only other dish I've had is the lamb which is also very good but I can't seem to be able to try anything else because we keep going back for that chicken. Owners are very nice and if you have a problem with your order they always make it right. Try the chicken you won't be disappointed. Oh and their fries are actually very good as well. read more

This is a great spot for lunch... located in the Foothill Ranch strip mall, its a small but warm restaurant. Avo is at the register to say hello and take your order, they truly make you feel like they remember you. Ingredients are fresh and side salads are of good quality lettuce, not your iceberg fillers. I'm a fan of Bravo Avos for making good food that still tastes good when you get it home. It is in a strip mall, so I get a lot of take-out, though the service is so friendly that it's actually enjoyable to eat in as well. The chicken kabobs are tender and tasty, and I just cannot stop eating the gyro even when I plan to save some for lunch. Although it adds to the tab, the mini-desserts are quite tasty. Not 5 stars because I have had slightly better tasting rice and slightly better tasting soup at a similar establishment in another town. But seriously, it's by far above average and should be tried by anyone who likes Greek food! read more

Bravo Avo is my absolute favorite restaurant! I used to eat their lamb but had to stop once I became a vegetarian. Avo gave me so many options to enjoy as a vegetarian and all are perfection! Great local family owned authentic Mediterranean food. I got the chicken avo and it was super flavorful! Hummus was homemade and delish. My husband asked the owner to make something that wasn't on the menu, and be obliged and made rack of lambs with potatoes (amazing seasoning). We also tried the baklava and crème brûlée. SUPER tasty Beef Lule and pita! Very accommodating and sweet to offer something to make it up to me that the Coke Zero tasted a bit like Root Beer, which I was okay with! I was going to try to get a picture but I couldn't waste any time before scarfing my food down. This place is A-mazing! I was hesitant originally to eat here as it's a bit pricy for lunch, but I've had it twice now. First time I had the Chicken and Beef Lule and this time tried the Chicken bowl (which actually was only 5.99). Probably the best greek food I have ever had. I generally don't write reviews on here unless they are really good or really bad, this falls in to the really really really good category. I meant to write a review after our first visit, but I've been back almost weekly since. I love this place. The owners are amazing and so welcoming. The food is great and affordable. I think my favorite is the Chicken Avo with some solid spice. The fire feta is awesome as well, get it, then get some more! I stumbled on this place two years ago, and it's been a delightful spot to return to when I'm in the area. The owner is always exceedingly kind and helpful in selecting new dishes to try!
