Only thing is it had a bit too much butter on both pancakes for my liking, so make sure to specify beforehand!:) I'm sure they would've accommodated. Great service, didn't have to wait too long. Omg my whiting sandwich with lettuce, tomato, mayo, salt and pepper was amazing. It almost didn't make it home. When I got home I forgot to take a picture! It was in toasted wheat bread. Perfect combo for me. The staff is always friendly and welcoming as I frequent this place a lot. When you walk in there is plenty of seating and tables, a nice little spot if you want to also sit and eat. I've been coming to Bread and Butter since they first opened, and they've been consistently amazing ever since. My entire family eats here, and the atmosphere is so warm and family oriented that it feels like walking into a family reunion every time you visit. The food is ALWAYS incredible fresh, flavorful, and made with care. I come here so often that they already know my order before I even say it! That kind of service and consistency is hard to find. Babe brought me to this spot because he use to frequent here in the past. It's a small deli with a dine in area. He felt so bad because I didn't enjoy the food. I went with Whiting and cheese grits and boy was I upset because that fish was not fresh and it tasted gross. The grits was ok but who puts two slices of cheese on top of grits like that. Babe got home fries and beef bacon and that just didn't do it for me either. The bacon was salty and I've had better home fries. Maybe other items on the menu are better but I'm sorry I won't be returning to Bread & Butter. Service was great no problem there. read more

Bread & Butter in the Cedarbrook/East Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia is a Korean owned breakfast/lunch restaurant that is primarily a take out joint with a few tables along a wall for those of us who prefer to eat when our meals are right from the grill. I stopped in around 10 recently for their Veggie Omelet (onion, green pepper, mushroom, tomato and cheddar cheese), Home Fries with fixings, Rye Toast and Coffee. Service was friendly and attentive and the meal filling. But, there were a few things of note that were problematic. First, everything came served in To Go styro, with prepackaged plastic flatware. Even the decent hot Java came that way - all throw away recyclables and single use materials. I guess that is cheaper than having a working dishwasher, but ecologically unsound, and not designed to make anyone feel at home. Second, the only green vegetable in the omelet was chunks of green pepper, making for a bland taste saved only by the melted cheddar (an up charge). Third, same was true for the extra topping mixed into the home fries; more of the same onion and green pepper from the omelet that wasn't sautéed enough to be soft and pliable when stirred into the potatoes for the expected savory flavor. Forth, the taters while plentiful, were somewhat dry and mealy, rather than a pleasant texture and chew. Too many corners cut here to show appreciation for the customer. Someone with culinary skills should examine the otherwise good menu to be sure the right ingredients are being used to present the best version of these dishes. My breakfast was certainly not. Just completed my 4.47 mile walk and my son calls me asking can I make breakfast? I said no. He asked can I stop here. Parking: Street. Atmosphere: A little loud. Comfy chairs. You can sit in or take out. I called ahead. Service: Nice. Food: My son ordered the salmon special with cheese grits and raisin toast. He enjoyed. The salmon was cooked just right. The grits need seasoning added which they ask if you'd like to do this once your order is completed. Overall the place works for a quick breakfast. I would go back. read more

I was looking for some place to get breakfast, and this place showed up. I was in my car tired and on my way home. I didn't feel like cooking, but I wanted a real breakfast. I gave them a call, and was greeted with a friendly voice and asked to hold. I told her that this was my first time, so I had a few questions. She was very helpful and kind. I ordered two fish (whiting ) and grits platters & coffee. When I got there, I was impressed with the various muffins and fruits on display. Also, there was a nice selection of beverages to choose from.On top of that, my order was ready and waiting. The staff was very friendly, efficient, and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back to try more of their menu. If you want a decent & delicious breakfast at a reasonable price, give them a try. read more

Had a urge for a omelet and thought I'd try out Bread & Butter. Had pretty good reviews so why not! It's located on Wadsworth Ave. in East Mt. Airy with only street parking (no meters). Parking did'nt seem to be a problem though. I was confused till I asked some people where this restaurant was. The sign said "Breakfast Junction", but that was the place! I guess they never changed the sign (see pictures below). Once inside the place was pretty nice. A neighborhood homey feel with plenty of seating. You can tell they have a lot of regulars. The waitress was busy at the register, but stopped to give us menus and told us to have a seat. She is a great multitasker and knows her job well. Went back to checking people out and before we knew it came to take our order. My friend decided on the fried flounder, grits and eggs w/ toast. I got a cheese w/ bacon omelet and pancakes. We both wanted coffee. We had no complaints, the coffee hot, Omelet fluffy and cheesy. I've had better pancakes but still a 4 out of 5. My friend did say the portion of her fish could have been a little bigger. The prices were great! and i like that we didn't feel rushed. Special shout out to Violet (our waitress). She was awesome and made us feel at home. I would recommend this place and would differently go back. read more

This just might be one of my go to breakfast spots while in town going forward. I ordered an omelette and cheese grits. Everything came out fresh and hot. The food was really good and for how busy it was they got the order out in decent timing. It's small inside so if you plan to eat there manage your expectations as you may not get a table however, service was really good. Staff was friendly and I'm really glad they came through because I place I originally planned to try was closed. Parking might be a little tough but trust me it's worth it. read more

Or maybe it was the fact that you can only see behind the grill from outside because they block everything and when I was leaving I had a look inside through the front glass and saw the one cook touching food with his bare hands. I then saw him drop a piece of bacon and pick it up off the floor and act like he wasn't going to use it and then throw it back in the pile of cooked bacon. Visited a close friend in the area and we wanted to stay pandemic-safe and get takeout for breakfast. We looked up some local places and found this wonderful hole in the wall. The food is inexpensive and exactly what you want from a local diner/eatery. I got a simple meals of eggs, bacon, and potatoes, and they did not skimp on the portions or flavor! I could tell when we went to pick up our order that Bread & Butter seems to know their clientele very well and is full of repeat customers. Look at this feedback in my comment I posted below. You notice she tried to put it back on me when I'm clearly calling out the shady practices. Then tried to "all lives matter" me like Asian and Black people face the same issues. Again, I called them out and they tried to shut me up. Doesn't matter cause I reported them to the tax bureau. Been going to this place for years. I understand prices change but what they charged me for my recent order was absurd and they couldn't justify it. Said they charge more for meals on long roll since they use more food. This was not the case. Nevertheless, further inspection of my receipt showed they charged more in sales tax than what's legally allowed. They tried to shut me up in front of customers by giving me money out the tip jar. You may see this as a honest mistake but I truly believe they thought I was dumb and seemed surprised when I bought up numbers. I'm sure they feel this away about most of their patrons who are Black. I suggest sticking with a place that values your business and community. Shop Black owned places. Breakfast Boutique is not that far and are similarly priced. read more

I wished I would have trusted my intuition:( My entire platter was terrible!!!! The pancakes were dry, huge, flavorless, hard circles- Just awful! I mean ridiculously dry:( The eggs were runny and tasted like those fake eggs made with water added to them- disgusting! And don't let me forget the homefries- they were hard, bland, and tasted extra old- not fresh at all! I had to throw the entire platter away.
