TLDR: The cutest brunch spot with a super cute patio I came to Bread & Butterfly recently with a friend and had a really great dining experience. The overall vibe is cute and very french with a pastry counter that looked lovely (didn't get a chance to try their pastries but they looked amazing!!). I ended up going for their avocado toast and a latte. Their avocado toast was pretty good but nothing out of the ordinary. The salad on the side did taste super fresh and was pretty refreshing. Their latte was also quite good and I did like the way they did the foam (pretty aesthetic). Service was also pretty fast. Went for brunch on a Sunday at noon and it was lovely. The staff was welcoming and our table got the quiche and the poached egg with salmon, which both tasted delicious. We also got the latte and chai latte, which were so yummy. Our bloody Mary's and mimosas were also fantastic. We would come again for this european cafe vibe! read more

Once seated, it was a flawless experience. When I first came in the door however, it was irksome because I (and I was alone) and two women who came in at the same moment stood there for like twelve minutes while the hostess failed to emerge from where-ever she was hiding and two staff members at the bar just kept showing each other things on their phones. I say "staff members" because clearly they worked here but what their actual duties were is a mystery because they were not doing a damned thing. Finally, the hostess came around and swiftly seated everyone. Then a waitress appeared to take my order and she was great. I ordered the smoked trout crouton which was expertly made and small, as it ought to be. They clearly understand French food here and it is unapologetically presented without being Americanized. I'd already had a pastry and coffee at my hotel so this was fine. Their ice tea was black, strong, and well-made, too. The restaurant is small but comfortable and attractive and as appropriate for ladies who brunch as it is for the newlyweds next to me or someone with a couple well-behaved kids. Bread and Butterfly is a pretty great establishment with a sleek and cool interior and sun room to enjoy a chill brunch on a summer weekend. The food is tasty but my only gripe is that the morsels were so small and overpriced for the amount of food that I received. I spent a lot on brunch just trying to get full from the small servings. The server was great and she was so funny and engaging - we even included her in some of our conversations and she was great. Really made us feel welcome. Maybe I just had bad luck, but my poached eggs were completely cooked and not runny like they should be. I brought it up to the waiter and he said they were supposed to be like that. I asked him if he was sure and he said yes. Welp, that was a lie. The table next to us got the same plate and I asked how his eggs were and he said perfect! I was in town visiting, and my friend suggested Bread & Butterfly for dinner one night. Definitely up her alley, being a French bistro/cafe and located in hip Inman Park. Since we did not have a reservation, I was surprised to find our party of 4 was able to be seated right away on a Saturday night - and at a table outside nonetheless (it was beautiful weather)! The decor is super cute and they have a trendy light up sign that says "merci" on the patio for taking very insta-worthy pics. Our food was also beautiful, and delicious. We started with the charcuterie and I loved everything on the plate. To accompany it, I ordered a French 75 and my friends had some wine. For the main course, I went with the special, which was a squash dish (see photo) and would definitely recommend it! For dessert, we split the strawberry lemon cake (a must-get) and another pastry I can't recall the name of (but can be skipped anyway). I met a friend here yesterday afternoon, around 1:30, just in time to enjoy a nice brunch. It's a nice French cafe, with great and interesting food options. Earlier in the day, my friend looked into reservations, but the earliest reservation available was at 5:30. So we decided to just walk in at our desired time, and it turned out that there wasn't any wait for a table. I think our waiter's name was Renato, and he was very pleasant. For parking, I went with the convenience of using the attached indoor parking garage, and wound up paying $8.50 after about 2 hours. I ordered a Mocha drink, a Soft scrambled eggs & cold smoked trout on toast with Pommes frites (fries) as a side, and later on, a brownie for dessert. The wait for the drink, and later on for the dessert, was decent, but for the food, it was pretty long. We weren't disappointed with the results of that wait though. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Being that I'm in that area of town regularly, a couple of times a month, I do plan on returning. The food and service is great!! read more

Me and my friends came to eat here for brunch today. It was really good food. We got the quiche and the tomato soup and they were really yummy. The place is also very cutely decorated and feels like a French cafe. The o my problem was that it took forever for them to take our orders and then because of that it just felt like a long time before we actually ate. Words such as charming, adorable, cozy, and likeable could certainly be used to describe Bread and Butterfly, a French bistro situated behind Beetlecat in Inman Park. The restaurant's name is a reference to Alice in Wonderland, I found out later. Though this spot seems to be ultra-popular for brunch, I've been for dinner a few times, and here's what I've tried. Gruyère sables ($4)--Four cheese-infused shortbread cookies are presented to you. Perfect for nibbling. Fun factoids: Sables were invented in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, France, and "sables" is the word for "sand." Thanks Wikipedia. Medjool dates ($6)--These were okay. They were a little too sugary for me, between the dates themselves and the added honey. There's blue cheese added in there too. Smoked trout carpaccio ($10)--Reminded me of smoked salmon. The lemon crème fraîche and capers brighten up the dish. Recommended. Lamb tartare ($14)--The lamb is served with mint for a cooling and aromatic touch, and a pile of crunchy potato sticks are served alongside the tartare which is a bit odd since they're very slender and not efficient for picking up meat. Regardless, a favorite for sure. If you have some leftover complimentary baguette, scoop some tartare onto a slice. Burger Americain ($15)--This is what lured me to Bread & Butterfly originally. I was Googling around for some more unique yet gourmet burgers, and B&B's offering popped up in Eater's current "15 of Atlanta's Most Iconic Burgers" list. Between the toasted brioche bun halves, you'll find a juicy sizeable beef patty cooked medium-rare, whole grain mustard lurking below, mayo and gooey Swiss cheese having a party above the meat, and caramelized onions hanging out too. The downable accompanying frites are salted well and dusted with parsley. Divine. Pot de crème ($6)--To sum up, decadent. Oh so rich, quite sweet, and chocotastic. There's a layer of olive oil on top, with copious sea salt. Not sure if the pot really needed these items, but overall, a winning way to wrap up the meal. Stroll by the pastry area during your meal to see some potential desserts; there's no printed dessert menu. No reservations. Street parking is available. There are a couple of different seating options: inside, the enclosed patio, and outside. The little touches with the decor shouldn't go unnoticed: the butterfly purse hooks, painted decorations on the glass windows, the custom-made wallpaper in the two unisex washrooms.They just add to the whimsy of it all. Such a cute cafe! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The potatoes were so crispy and perfectly salted & the side of garlic aioli was *chefs kiss*. The pancake was also nice and fluffy! My friends and I went to Bread and Butterfly for brunch. We waited about 50 minutes for a table. It was a nice day outside so we didn't mind the wait. The atmosphere inside is that of a cute French restaurant (think Cafe Intermezzo) but smaller and with lots less desserts. Once we were seated, I ordered a latte ($4.50) and the omelette of the day ($13). The omelette came with feta and sun-dried tomatoes. I looked at other reviews and saw omelettes and decided based on that. Once my omelette came, that was not the case. Mine was a dainty and skinny deflated omelette that left me wanting more. It was rather disappointing. Thankfully, I ordered a pancake ($5.50) to share with my friend. Everyone seemed to agree they it is what they are known for. The pancake is the size of a plate, literally. I asked the waitress for syrup as she didn't bring any when she brought out the pancake. However, once we got the check, I saw that she charged me $0.50 for the syrup. For a pancake that cost as much as a fancy box of pancake mix at Whole Foods, you'd think it would come with syrup without an additional charge. My experience at Bread & Butterfly left me with a sour taste and I would not come back or recommend it. If you want some great pancakes, try Ria's Bluebird. TL; DR: Sad, deflated, overpriced omelette and huge pancake with an additional charge for syrup. Don't bother coming. read more

Cute spot tot brunch! They don't take resy and wait can be 1 hr on a weekend. I suggest coming early making a reservation and walking to get coffee while you wait. They atmosphere is fun and the service is wonderful. Seems like some of the staff had been working there tor a long time. Super attentive and knowledgeable and overall just friendly. What an incredibly charming spot! My girlfriends and I are always looking for a cozy spot to sip coffee and catch up. I am so glad we found this spot. We visited on a Saturday morning, right as they opened the doors, at 8:30. The kitchen does not open until 10:30, but coffees and pastries are available starting at 8:30. We ordered coffee, cappuccino, and a latte, and all were excellent. My latte art was beautiful, and the rich, strong brew was a lovely start to the morning. The pastry assortment looked fantastic - it was hard to choose just one item. So I didn't! I opted for something sweet and savory and enjoyed both a cherry almond scone and a gruyere green onion scone. Both were perfect. Even though it is more than I would typically eat for breakfast, I regret nothing. My girlfriend enjoyed the chocolate croissant, and it also looked fabulous. There were several tables that were occupied, but the cafe did not start filling up until brunch service started. This allowed us to leisurely chat and enjoy our treats. When the place started filling up, we decided it was time to let someone else enjoy our spot, but it was hard to leave. The space was well decorated, full of light, with a cozy feel. I can see how parking may become challenging if and when it gets crowded, but early in the morning, there was plenty of street parking available. I would highly recommend a visit. First, I will say that the only reason that I docked one star was for the unprofessional hostess. A group of 4 of my friends met here for brunch and as they don't take reservations, we put our name in and were quoted an hour wait, which was about what we expected and planned for. We went off to find a cocktail at another Inman Park eatery during our wait, but not 15 minutes later (and before we could put in our orders at the bar) we were called and told that our table was ready. We were happy to have been seated early, but upon our arrival, the hostess was completely disheveled, had no tables ready, and admitted to us that she had called the wrong party. After much himm-hawing and socially awkward comments from the hostess, we were able to get seated and had a wonderful brunch as our waitress was the picture of patience to our chatty party. We ordered espressos and cocktails within minutes of being seated at our adorable Parisian cafe-style round table (I love a good round table, perfect for catching up with a group!) The French 75 (pictured) was so refreshing. For my entree, I ordered the soft scrambled eggs with smoked trout on toast, and it was a perfectly balanced entree. Other favorites for the table were the avocado toast, tomato soup (with the flakiest pastry baked right on top of the bowl), and burger! All in all, this is one of my favorite restaurants for brunch with a smaller group as the atmosphere is clean and stylish, the food light and tasty, and the service is wonderful (usually). This is definitely a restaurant that you can spend a pretty penny especially when cocktails are involved, but the experience is worth it in my opinion. read more

I am beyond upset after being tricked into going here by yelp...they don't have most of the food items in the yelp photos and after being seated and we started to order we were told they were out of croissants (how can a "French" cafe be out of croissants!?). Weird considering they didn't seem to have any customers for a while since it was just us and one other family in the morning...So... We were forced to choose something else because we came specifically for the croissants. The other brunch items we were stuck choosing from were very bland and quite stingy on ingredients...think one slice of salmon, one small dry piece of toast, one piece of lettuce type thing...the hibiscus coffee tasted horrible. The pastries they did have were terrible and dry (one could assume the croissants wouldn't have been any better). The "giant" pancake was regular size... The space was small and we were eating alone. Came here for a Sunday brunch and loved it! Cute cozy restaurant. We sat at the bar and got drinks and breakfast. Food- I had the Nest egg with prosciutto was on point. The pancake was also gigantic and fantastic (and I am not a sweet Bfast person) and would definitely recommend. Drinks- full bar with good selection of brunch cocktails. Service - fantastic! I would give this place 5 stars but there is zero inside seating right now. It is all outside and while they provide heaters they are honestly too small to do any good. We were freezing throughout the entire meal and could see the breath of everyone around us when they talked. It just isn't fun/comfortable to pay for or eat a meal when you are so cold. Even our coffee was cold before we could get halfway through it. So go on a day when it is warmer and be prepared to take your mask on and off every single time a waiter comes near your table. This is the only restaurant where I have encountered this (and we eat out a lot). I understand that is their policy but again it does detract from the meal. Came here for our anniversary lunch. We wanted to love it. It was a 3, almost 4 star brunch. First, our server was super nice and the place is small but quaint. Food: We ordered avocado toast with a side of sausage. Avocado toast was excellent however sausage was cold. I ordered the Jambon Beurre (ham sandwich), very simple but delicious. We also got a side of fries which we had to send back because it was cold. We never send food back but they were cold and stale. Pretty sure they took the same fries and threw in the fryer for a second and poured salt on them because that's how they tasted. SO much salt. Our server was nice enough to take them off the bill. Parking: street parking only, good luck! We would definitely come back and re-try but not a great first visit. read more

I'm unsure how I should review this. I'm kind of torn about if I like this place or not. I'll explain... 5 stars for how cute this place is! 5 stars for the service! 4 stars for pastry. 2-3 stars for food. All of the delicious food on the yelp pictures looked so delicious! I've been wanting to come for a while. The raves on yelp all were so similarly great. I walked in and was immediately told not to pay any attention to what was on Yelp. The menu had NONE of the delicious looking brunch items... no pancakes... no eggs... no french toast... no biscuits... no panini... no grits... no delicious looking salad.. no eggs... no toast. I get that the menu changes. There are plenty restaurants that do this. However, this menu was terrible. I'll post picture of what we got. We were all so hungry after dress shopping... we just scarfed down the food.... cause what else were we going to eat. I normally post on IG my food pictures for my own memories (feedtheshark_atl if you wanna check it out).. lol. Anyways... I couldn't even post any of the pictures... none looked appealing enough to post. I feel terrible about having to post this for such a high rating, super cute place. The food.... we ordered shrimp remoulade, quiche, salad with chicken, and a tart. The remoulade sauce was a good flavor, but the presentation was not appealing. The quiche was ok. I wasn't sure if they wanted to serve it hot and was sitting back there... or if they wanted to serve it cold, tried to warm it a little, and it sat there.... I don't knowww. The salad I ordered was topped with nuts, fruits, and whatever else (which was nice)... but the chicken on top tasted like old, oily chicken that had been sitting out for a couple days and reheated. As for the presentation... it looked like they went in and used their hands to pull apart a few old pieces of chicken. LOL. That's how ridiculous that salad was. I can't help but laugh. Again, the service was amazing and the place was beyond cute! However, I was just soooo disappointed in the food. For such a high rated restaurant, I EXPECTED more. Yes... I expected because that's what you expect for such a high rated place. I love all types of food. I love simple meals, fatty meals, light meals, seasonal meals... but they have to be good. Since I can't travel to Paris right now, I'll happily settle for brunch at Bread & Butterfly. This place has that European cafe ambiance down pat. So cute and tons of covered outdoor seating facing the streets of Inman Park for people- and-dog watching. My friend and I started with the cherry almond scone to share and it was delicious! We also split their pancake, which was huge and took up an entire plate. Perfectly fluffy and buttery with crisp edges, but could have used more syrup. It comes with the syrup already on it, but we both agreed that we would have preferred it on the side? I got the soft omelette and greens and it was cooked immaculately. I like my eggs super soft and just barely not runny, so this was perfect. Everything tasted very fresh and it was a good portion. My friend enjoyed his egg sandwich, which came with gruyere and prosciutto. For drinks, I got a couple of espresso martinis, because every Sunday I aspire to be equal parts caffeinated and inebriated. My friend got mimosas. No complaints there, good strong drinks. Covid precautions: They are one of the few restaurants I can think of that are still allowing outdoor dining ONLY, which I love. They require masks if going in to use the restroom and when the servers stop by your table. Love it! Parking: Inman park street parking stresses me out, so I parked in the parking garage. I believe it was $6.50 for a couple hours, but the restaurant is just steps away when exiting the garage. read more

The skinny: patio vibes and great service, limited menu Bread and Butterfly has a huge outdoor seating spread that spans street-side seating as well as patio seating shared with other restaurants on the block. This makes for some good times during COVID. The staff is extremely nice and attentive, and they adhere to COVID rules. The menu is somewhere they can improve. Breakfast from open to close and lunch menu goes from 1130am til close. The yogurt was very nicely topped and the potatoes with garlic aioli were enjoyable. I ordered the large pancake and asked for a little more syrup, which they did charge extra for without mentioning it (a pet peeve of mine). Parking can be a problem if you don't secure a street spot. I believe the garage rates start at $6.50 for the first two hours. Overall, would come here to day drink as the patio was very relaxing, but I would not look to this place for an exceptional meal. read more

We went to Beetlecat last week and saw how popular this spot was, so decided we had to try it. Now I understand why people were lined up for brunch -- it's amazing!! One of the best brunches of my life! We went at about 10:30 am on a Saturday and the wait to get a table was about 10 minutes. You probably have to get here before 11 am to avoid a wait. We were seated inside but I really wanted one of the outside tables in the sun (next time I guess). Service was super quick, almost too quick. I got an iced vanilla latte which was strong and not sweet. They have a cocktail and wine list I would like to try (the French 75 and Albarino white wine looked good) but did not get booze today. I ordered the omelette which comes with a side salad. It was sooo good. So soft and wet and perfectly cooked. Get this! We split the pancake too, which was giant and also very good.
