Bread + Salt is about to be one and it's amazing that we haven't been there already! A new(ish) hidden gem in Lakewood with a sister location in Frisco, this place was such a cool find. Love their vibe - it felt cool and mellow, but bright and minimal too. Lots of seating options, a community table and patio seating under wraps outside. Our waitress was amazing - and she and her counterpart were the only two ladies working on the busy weekend morning we visited. Despite having way too many tables to take care of, they both flew around the place with grace, with smiles and a cool temperament. A few things didn't go to plan for us, but with a more appropriately staffed house, these would likely resolve: lukewarm food, missing items and forgotten requests. Nothing too big that we didn't want to stay or some back. The food was overall really tasty, loved the locally made real maple syrup and jams and fresh ingredients. Big portions also. We stopped in for brunch on Labor Day and they were slammed and short staffed. We definitely weren't pleased with the service, but the women on staff were hustling hard and we heard only one cook was there that day. That set the stage for the dissatisfaction of receiving cold food and having to wait a long time for coffee and water refills. Now, that aside, the food quality is good and things taste good. I ordered the truffled eggs, which are phenomenal if you are a shroomy type. Yum! The things that saddened me was the cold hash browns served with my hot eggs. They said they would get me some new ones, but that took 20 minutes so then my eggs were cold. Such a bummer. My friend had the Palisades peach challah French toast and it was excellent, the peaches perfectly ripe and a drizzled of vanilla creme fraiche or something to dowse it with. It was golden brown and truly yummy! Specialty coffee is great there, but a small cup so be aware that if you are a coffee junkie, you will need more or switch to drip like we do. They took $3.95 off for the hash browns to try and correct the cold food in my meal. She apologized sincerely. The last time we went, service was good, so I think it was just a bad day. read more

But let me tell you, there's a unique cuteness about the Lakewood spot that adds its own charm. While the food and ambiance is undeniably sweet. We had the Spanish Chorizo Scramble, and while it had great potential with its mix of scrambled eggs, onions, and Palacios chorizo, it felt a bit dry. Service was good, we were checked on a couple times and (almost) everyone had smiles. The place was clean, what i could see of the kitchen was clean as well. Food came out quick and had a homemade feel - in a good way. My omlette was tasty, not too greasy with a good amount of quality ingredients. English muffin came out dry, which I actually appreciated. There are multiple butter pats on each table with little cartons of jelly. I added the amount of butter I wanted on my still-warm muffin (toasted nicely, with golden brown edges). My husband enjoyed his French toast plate - which was well priced considering it comes with eggs and protein. A nice change from the carb-only French toast plates elsewhere. And the coffee! I know they're a new spot so I'm sure they were making the extra effort to be accommodative and comforting but it really felt genuine. This is a newer counterpart to the original location in Frisco, CO. It is a super clean and inviting place. We have tried many menu items, and all are great. The Eggs Benedict is great, and the hashbrowns are crisped with butter on the flattop, perfect. While they are kid friendly, they don't have a kids menu.
