Love the theme. Stopped in on the first day for a few beers to feel out the scene. Fun hang out spot, especially with the bowling alley. The open concept is great and also turns into a bit of a night club later in the evening. Great location being only a few blocks from me as well as the beach. Like most of us in PB we watched them remodel this place and were excited for them to open. I went last week with my kids as they claim to be a family friendly establishment. We showed up for dinner after 5 and were told it's 21 and over. But they let us eat. Kids had chicken tenders. My kids love chicken tenders. They couldn't eat them. They cried because they were so bad. I looked inside them and it was a mixture of chicken fat and gristle. No meat. Disgusting. You may be thinking, "How do you screw up chicken fingers?" Yup. But I did try and make reservations to come with the family and go bowling. Mistake. They said I had to go online and make a reservation. Even though the reservation book was on the counter in front of us. I figured they are new and have little bowling reservation experience. I book online a lane for 2 hours for 8 people. About $100 worth of business before drinks and food. Checked in twice to confirm the reservation and get this - only daytime managers can confirm bowling reservations. What? Apparently you need to be qualified to take a reservation. There's only 4 lanes! Then no surprise, I get a voicemail that the reservation was denied. Plus it's illegal there to have 8 people in one lane. Would have needed two of the four lanes. They never took my calls again. But I was recommended to get there when they open and pray for lanes. Unreal. They are all very arrogant, to cool for school and do not care about you as a customer. We shouldn't care about them. Let's go to Kearney Mesa Bowl and wait for the next business to come take the place of Break Point. Hopefully it will be a business that cares about us and our business. PS - Read the other 1 star reviews. They all sum this place ip pretty good. Break Point responds to some reviews but never offers any real remedy for subpar service, food, bowling or overall experience. Avoid this place like the Corona Virus. read more

Four of us tried BP for lunch and bowling last weekend. We had the butter burger and Baja tacos. Food was delicious and served quickly and hot. I had a glass of Rose and my friends had beer. Our server, Richie, was friendly and very nice. The woman at the shoe counter was also very helpful and nice. The bowling was great! We bowled for an hour and we plan to return for more fun! We were looking for a buckeye bar while traveling through San Diego to watch the game. We arrived early to get seats and order food. The game started at 4:00. We attempted to order food, but our server came back to say that certain items couldn't be made because they "weren't ready". We tried to order slushies because they are in fact on the menu, which also came back with the response that they weren't ready- never did end up being ready the entire length of the football game. We tried ordering beer instead. Promptly were told that they were out of the beer listed on the menu and proceeded to list 5 other beers that were on the list that they were out of. It's game day and they were out of half their beer list!!! Food was sub par. Fries were obviously fried with the same oil the fish was fried in and tasted and smelled VERY strongly of fish. Short of being able to watch the OSU game on the giant screen this place was hands down the worst "sports" bar we have ever been too. read more

This place is amazing! They're doing such a great job of ensuring social distancing during COVID-19. The bowling balls and shoes are all sterilized before your round begins. I've been to soft openings, but this opening was less than optimum. Below average. They need to make it right before they scare people away. Looking at the brighter points: Walking in you get a good, fun vibe. Bright and airy. Food was respectable. Ahi bowl was the highlight. Very fresh. Loved it with the seaweed salad. Burger/fries and chicken Caesar salad were large and respectable. Brussels sprouts were tasty and the chicken oysters had an excellent sauce with an Asian relish. Overall, the food was quite good. Our waitress was very nice and the lack of training due to a rushed opening was evident. She didn't know the types of alcohol available; gin, tequila or wine. And when walked up to the bar to take a look, I was told "You've got to order from me at the table." Not good. Bowling...always fun, but is it a new system? Balls visibly stuck behind the pins, and they don't always return. Pins were constantly in the gutters. Not always 10 pins set up (regular bowling selected) and the lane shut off at 40 mins. Broken? The waitress apologized, but management said nothing. The other 3 lanes were open but not offered for our use. 5:00pm and we were the only people there. Really? Underwhelmed to say the least. My valentine and I went yesterday for a free hour of bowling and food. The set up for tables that are bowling is a little weird. The bowling had a ton of problems, but she warned us from the beginning and that's why it's free! My complaint is more about the server, food and policy. We were ravenous by the time our food came out! I ordered the Baja taco and my fiancé- the ahi taco. It came with salsa & less than mediocre chips. I just dumped the salsa on both tacos and ate the first one. It was nothing more than "meh". Then, I decided to be a lady and eat a chip with the salsa so I didn't look like I had never eaten lol. The salsa was bad!! I've been in the restaurant industry for 7 years and when salsa goes bad... it gets "fizzy" . I already ate a taco with it! Like I stated before, the sitting setup is weird... so I moved our waters and personal belongings to a different booth when the one by where we were bowling. He had finished his food. I left mine and told the waitress that the salsa was bad. She said she'd tell the chef. We asked for the check and she went to hand it to us and asked if I wanted the other taco to go. I said no bc the expired salsa was on it. She said ok and that she told the chef. I paid $14 for one taco with expired salsa on it. I told my fiancé not to tip and he let her know it was bc we had to PAY FOR EXPIRED FOOD. She said ok. Now... working in the service industry for so long... I know a manager would NEVER want a patron to be dissatisfied with the food... let alone eat something that had turned. This waitress didn't care and the chef didn't care. I won't go back. However there front desk was horrible when we tried to confirm our reservation, then when we wanted to bowl the guy with long hair with the beanie was rude, and on top of that, our lane was malfunctioning and the girl with black hair told me "not my problem his" and didn't tell me how to fix it. I was having fun until my friend got kicked out of the bar FOR NO REASON. Whoever the lady security guard is that was working there, you kicked her out for thinking she snuck in when she didn't, and then you continued to push her and make a scene in front of everyone. The security guards didn't even apologize after seeing that she had a stamp, which meant she didn't sneak in and they were in the wrong. Very stressful experience, will not be going back. read more

Break Point is so fun!! I have been there several times and have enjoyed it each time. The music and dancing is really fun, they have a dance floor in the back with a DJ booth, giant screen with music videos playing. All of the DJs have been good, they read the crowd well and have taken requests when we have them. The food is bomb and the chef always comes out to say hi. My husband and I love the caesar salad with ahi tuna, the cauliflower, the fried chicken sandwich and the fish tacos. Our daughter is obsessed with the butter burger! The bowling is super fun, we needed something new in PB! I highly recommend checking this place out! read more

This was probably one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. We sat for 40min without anyone even coming by to take drink orders and it wasn't even that busy. They didn't have 2 of the beers we asked for and we asked the waiter what they did have and he didn't know. We waited forever for the food and people who sat down after us got their food before we did. Then our order was incorrect. The fish tacos were over cooked and super fishy tasting. The break point burger was as basic as it gets, not impressed. The chicken sandwich was good until I got to the middle and it was slimy. I thought it was just me so I had my boyfriend try it and he said "what the f*** is that?!", then we looked at it and the chicken was gray, it didn't even look like chicken anymore. I felt bad for our waiter he seemed really stressed over the lack of help since it did get busier. Definitely never coming back or recommending to anyone.
