My son's BMX bike had two flat tires for over a month. I ordered new inner tubes from Amazon so I could replace his tires. Within minutes of riding on replaced inner tube, one of the tires went flat (cheap product) leaving my son needing another tire tune up. This time I neglected the self service online purchase solution and looked up the closest bike shop. I called ahead and was assured that they were open and willing to do a repair on a kids bicycle. The staff person was very helpful and kind. He took my son's bike back and fixed it up in no time and it didn't break the babk. We'll be back to this shop for all our biking needs. Kevin and crew at Breakaway are awesome! These guys hooked me up with an amazing Norco Optic and made a few changes I requested to the out-of-the-box build with no problem. The delivery and build time of the bike was incredibly fast (they had it built up and ready for me to ride the day after they received the shipment!) and the workmanship was fantastic. When I picked it up, they spent time customizing the suspension for me and showed me all the details to do it myself as I wasn't familiar with these components yet. I want to give a big shout out to Breakaway Bikes. My husband loved going into the store and would spend a lot of time talking with the owner and staff about getting his dream mountain bike. Well, as I knew how much he wanted a mountain bike I arranged with the owner to buy the one my husband wanted and they kept it a secret for me so that I could surprise my husband with what I think was one of his best Christmas gifts ever. The entire store was supportive and my husband had lots of trial rides on this bike and really wanted to support a local small business. Well when the kids and I unveiled his present to him he was just like a little kid getting a really cool bike. He was overwhelmed and so grateful. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Sadly my husband passed but had several years of riding his mountain bike. I since moved to Washington and Breakaway cleaned up the bike and shipped it to me here. The guys at Breakaway Bikes were super nice, and they knew their stuff! I was looking for a new mountain bike, and they told me so much things and comparisons between different models. They didn't try to sell me out, like tell me that the most expensive choice is the best. Their selection of bikes is not huge, but they had a variety of different brands and parts, as well as gear. The best thing that I saw was the large amount of water bottles! That, my friends, makes this bike store the best in the area. read more

Unfortunately I have to give a poor review as much as it pains me to do so to a local small business. The family wanted to get my son a BMX bike for his December birthday,and while their BMX stock is limited they ensured me they could order one in 7-10 day. My kids bday was in early December so we thought it would be fine as the bike would come in before Xmas which was fine with us. It should be noted that the communication from the staff was quite good but the vendor repeatedly let us and Breakaway Bikes down. From the start I let the business owner know we would be gone in early Jan for 2 weeks and as long as we got the bike before then we were cool. The BMX was ordered the first week of December and we left the first week of January. After a multitude of excuses (from the vendor) and delays the bike literally came in the day after we left, meaning we didn't get my sons BMX until mid January a full 6 weeks after ordering. Again, the staff at BB was attentive and apologetic but a 6 week turnaround with little to no concessions offered from BB was a tough pill to swallow. I can say that my experience was poor and my sons next bike will be purchased at another local vendor. Sad as we went out of our way to buy local, and will continue to do so but at a different small business. Sorry BB! I would reconsider ordering bikes from Haro In the future. read more

So my previous review was not so good but I want to revise it. My ebike that I purchased from a store in San Diego (because no one in town had a bike small enough for me) needed to be checked out by a bike store. I rode it but it didn't feel right. I brought it back and Mika adjusted, cut down and lowered the seat, lowered the handlebars and readjusted the fender. It feels safer already. Thanks, Mika. Thanks to Sofie too! My favorite bike shop in town. I recommend it to all my friends if they want a shop that is quick and friendly. They spend a ton of time with customers to make sure they get the right stuff. I broke my rim about three months ago and I talked to them for about 30 mins about the best kind of rim for my bike and style. The rim is amazing and so was their advice. Also I have been riding for about two years and I am a noob when it comes to bike maintenance. These guys answer all my questions with out looking at me like I'm some idiot. Breakaway Bikes saved my weekend! I was in town for 4 days of riding and on day 2 I broke my rear derailer. I checked with them but they did not the parts in stock. They suggested a few other local shops and I was able to find the part at one of the shops but they could not fit me in to install it. I called Breakaway Bikes to ask if they would install it if I brought them the part. It was 4pm. They knew that I was from out of town and would be unable to ride with my friends. They happily agreed and not only had my bike fixed and back to me by 5:30 but they also fixed my chain, a cable and replaced my brake pads. They saved the rest of my weekend! I have shopped at this store since it opened. I have had them service both my road bike and several mtbs. Their shop rate is fair and their work is top notch. I have also bought may parts to upgrade my bikes over the years. Again, their prices are fair and they can usually have the parts just as quick if you were to order online. So if you need a kiddie bike or some insane downhill monster, or just need something repaired this is the first and last place to shop. read more

From the moment I walked into Breakway Bikes I felt comfortable. There were no harsh sales tactics like some of the other stores, and I still felt valued even though I didn't have a large budget. They got me on a bike that fit my needs and skill level, and at a price I could afford. Above sales and service, I met some really awesome people! These guys fix your bikes and provide you solutions that are quality outcome and great on pricing. I had my mtn bike upgraded to a 1x10 and first time out shifting better than a Ferrari. If you need your bike repaired, upgraded, or a new trail bike than drop by and see for your self. Always attentive and always providing answers without you feeling like your in kindergarten on your first day that many other bike shops do so, they can push that ego on you.
