Such a cute little spot! In a small cluster of shops right on the bend of gulf drive headed toward the city of Anna Maria. Intimate place with about 8 tables inside and like 4-5 outside under a shade sail. There is a story behind the name and it's a cute story and Victoria graces the walls of the restaurant. She's adorable. The menu is certainly different and limited and they have specials daily on a big blackboard on the wall. I had the Victoria Combo- two scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, rye toast and potatoes. I also had a lovely cup of English breakfast tea. Everything was delicious, I enjoyed this breakfast. It My dining partner had the Avocado Toast - Multigrain sourdough,smashed avocado, 2 poached eggs, sliced tomatoes and bacon and potatoes. He said it was very good. And I had a few bites of the avocado toast which I am not usually and fan of and It was delicious. The service was pleasant and attentive. I would return for sure! I hate to knock down any small business, especially restaurants, since they've had a rough go in the last few years. However, my experience from many of the others here was so wildly different that I can't help but think I caught the staff on a challenging day. When I arrived, one staff member was on the phone with their back to me and after seeing me, kept going but without a sign they were acknowledging me. I've worked in customer service, and I know you can't be "on" all the time, so that's ok. But I kept waiting when another staff person entered the area, and no one seemed like they wanted to seat me. After a while, I was seated, but I felt confused the whole time. Would anyone be coming by to get my drink order? Was there a menu? Long gaps of time seemed to be going by... We finally ordered, and the food--not complex--took a bit. My tea was my favorite part, since it's served in a lovely pot and a delightful teacup. However, my croissant was good but not great, as it was a bit gummy, and my fruit was, I'm sorry to say, slimy. I'd like to go back and try this place again, because lots of us have off days, but those in public-facing roles don't have the luxury of taking a day away from people. Based on pictures and reviews we thought this was going to a an above average place to eat breakfast. It started out great with a great tasting speciality coffee but all our breakfast food was sub par. The chocolate pancake was burnt on the bottom and therefore the flavor was non-existent. The kids had waffles that were over done and not as tasty. My wife had the salmon be edict that way too much cream cheese. Overall, I would have been much more pleased with a basic pancakes and waffles that you can't screw up. Great atmosphere though. read more

Found this place on google and boy am I glad we found it. The food was amazing, full of flavor and all organic. The coffee was great, the avocado toast was fantastic and was full of flavor. I have been here 4 x. First time I left because the service was so slow it was taking 10 minutes per table for coffee drink order. We were about 5 tables in looked like an hour to coffee. Second time better luck ordered avocado toast. That was good. This time I wanted to try the pancakes because of the rave reviews. I tried 1/2 order of blueberry candied orange zest pancake. No maple syrup just the sugar syrup in the squeeze bottle. But the pancake was uncooked in the middle. Pancake batter oozing out. I tried to eat around the edges but the batter went pretty far out. I had to send it back to have it thrown on the grill again. Yikes. I'll stick to the avocado toast. read more

We just left Victoria's after having what we consider the best dinner we've had on AMi, bar none! Luigi, the owner, has created a calm and restful environment, has a wonderful wine list, and serves extraordinary, homemade Italian cuisine. We enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana appetizer (excellent, creamy eggplant), the linguini with clams (homemade noodles), and out-of-this-world homemade lasagna -- excellent! The desserts, all made by his wife, looked incredible - bread pudding, lemon pie, chocolate cake, and a beautiful ricotta with fruit wedge that I would have devoured except that we were so full from the meal and focaccia bread appetizer we couldn't fit any more in - Luigi came to our table to welcome us, and explained that he had only been open six months. We encourage everyone to go to Victoria's - the sign says "breakfast" but don't let that fool you - call to find out the nights he's open for a phenomenal dinner! read more

Decided to try this place based on reviews (rather than our regular breakfast places) but was disappointed. Server (an older guy with slight accent from THE KEYS) was very abrupt and rushed. We didn't feel relaxed even though it took 20 minutes to get our breakfast. My avocado toast had some kind of spice in it that wasn't explained on menu and I can't do spices in the a.m. so left most of it and server never even wondered why. My husband was forced to chose an omelet from menu rather than just a PLAIN omelet. No exceptions. Nice they do let you have fruit rather than potatoes without an up charge. Parking lot has plenty of parking spots but located in a set back location off a busy road. Decor is cute w pics of the real Victoria the owners daughter. Apparently there are part owners from NYC and this was their 2nd location after closing the one in Sarasota. I guess we'll just stick with our regular breakfast places like Jinny and Janeys just down the road a little or The Paradise Cafe on Manatee Ave by Publix and Walgreens (by Duncan and peaches). Don't waste your time or money. And being from NY I don't find it an Italian bakery as advertised. Prices are "the norm". read more

Honestly, I think the word for this restaurant is "spotty". Spotty service, spotty food. It's too bad, because when this place is good, it's really good. Honestly they need a decent manager. A real manager. At night, it turns into "Dinner at Sophia's", a very cute play on words, and apparently both names are the owner's daughters' names. Lots of pictures of the cute girls on the walls. We've been half a dozen times, hoping to support small island businesses, evenly divided between breakfast and dinner. My comments below are applicable only to the dinners. At breakfast, it's very difficult to get a waiter's attention, and it's incredibly slow, but they do have the best avocado toast we've had in the area. The coffee is excellent, though we wish the food was a little more consistent. (One day the omelettes were fantastic, just the way we ordered them. The next time they were awful, no resemblance to what we'd ordered, covered in salt.) The pros: The steak is unbelievable, though it really doesn't need any of the sauces we've tried. Unbelievably good, cooked just right. The pasta tastes fresh, and everything is made to order. It's reasonable that because it's made to order, it takes a bit of time. I'd recommend the charred Romaine salad over any others on island; definitely big enough for two people. Calamari are delicious. Linguini with clams are wonderful. The evening atmosphere is calm and friendly. Mornings are a bit more scattered but still really nice. Bathroom is super clean, always a plus in my book. Table settings are lovely for both meals. The mussel sauce was delicious, though we wished the mussels were bigger. We got spoiled in Australia! The cons: The waiter can be very good, or awful. He either gets the order perfectly, and gives good advice, or you have to pretty much bump into him to get his attention, and when you do, he's very impressed with himself. Reservations are difficult - you can call two or three times to confirm, be told yes it's fine, then you get there and discover no one wrote it down. Or they wrote down the wrong day. That's a real problem on a weekend night! I wish the lasagna came with a warning sign, because it bears zero resemblance to any lasagna I've had here or in Italy, and that includes both Northern and Southern Italy. Lovely fresh pasta absolutely drowning in an unnecessary bechamel sauce. If we'd known what it would be like we'd never have ordered it. You know, sometimes you just want the basics. Nothing fancy, nothing nouveau. Just a basic. I wish they'd update their Facebook page regularly - another thing a good manager could do. We heard they'd be doing tasting menus without holding a wine dinner (one of us doesn't drink alcohol) and were very excited, but it's impossible to find out what we'd be tasting, so we're going to pass. Finally, the two C's any restaurant needs - consistency, and communication. We went with friends and four of us ordered exactly the same dish. One of them was so salty it was inedible. One needed salt. One was medium salted and another was very salty. We all four tried each others' to make sure it wasn't just our taste buds. This was not my first bad experience with over-salting at the restaurant. In short, if you get them on a good day or night, it's fantastic. If you don't, you'll have to beg for attention, deal with a waiter who'll either ignore you or refuse to leave your table and talk through your dinner, and spend the whole time annoyed. But I do think the steak is worth taking a chance! read more

Wonderful experience at Breakfast at Victorias! Went with a couple friends from out of town. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, croissant sandwich, and a focaccia sandwich. It was all excellent! The bread for each was so fresh and incredible, as were the breakfast potatoes they were served with. Definitely a relaxed atmosphere with an unhurried service style (think we were here for brunch for a solid hour). Can't wait to be back on AMI, will absolutely go back! read more

Gave our order which was basic and most ingredients were already premade, just needed assembling or eggs poached. We waited another 40 minutes for our breakfast. Every bite of my scrambled eggs was full of eggshells, and cold. The Benedict was good. The pancakes, although impressive to look at, were way too dense and tasteless. Getting the check took another 15-20 minutes. In total, 1 1/2 hours for a poorly prepared meal is not acceptable. One of the wait staff had an unpleasant attitude towards everyone. My family and I decided to stop in for breakfast. Everyone from the start was super friendly. Our waitress was very nice and patient with us while we were deciding on entrees. We got the blueberry orange pancakes and they were so fluffy and delicious. We all got frittatas and they were awesome.
