    SPECIAL GRANOLA
    Jill H.

First visit to Breakfast House location. Everything was fine, nothing screamed "wow" or stood out to me. Our server was nice and patient while I decided what to order. I eventually chose the Chefs special granola. I've been to a lot of breakfast joints in my time. While I think you'll be able to find a dish that speaks to you, it felt on the average side for me. It wasn't terribly crowded on a Tuesday morning, and the noise levels were good, allowing for easy conversation. My dining companions chose the breakfast burrito and the chorizo hash and were satisfied with their choices.

Recently moved to the area and tried this place on a Sunday morning. We came right before the rush, but still took a while for someone to acknowledge us after we were sat. They were not busy by any standard. If I had to time it I would say it took 5-7 minutes. Which feels like a lot but I digress. The food was great! I got the sour cream pancakes and would try the regular ones next time. We would definitely come again and hopefully get faster service.

Went to Chicago for Halloween, and Breakfast House was our final stop before heading home -- and I'm so glad it was! The hostess was incredibly kind, especially after a random older man yelled at us for letting in the cold air (there isn't a waiting area, so that's really my only small complaint). The space itself is cozy and narrow, but we were seated quickly and the staff was super attentive. Most importantly -- the food was delicious! Definitely worth the stop before hitting the road.

Staff, warm welcome, ambiance, lighting, positive vibes, well-written menu, tasty food, generous portions, great coffee, awesome presentation, cool blackboard, reasonable prices, and our amazing server Eddy! Thank you, Eddy, you rock! :-) What an amazing place for breakfast, can't wait to come back! Our food was served hot, simultaneously, correctly, and presented well. Just a great experience all around. The belle o' the ball was the green sauce on top of the avocado toast and dueguito (sp?). SO tasty, yum! It's a not miss place. Can't understand why it isn't 5-stars, we had a great experience. I highly recommend it. Sincerely, Patrick Shaughnessy Chicago, IL

What everyone else says about this place is true, and then some! Great Intelligentsia coffee, cool vibes, friendly staff, classic rock over the speakers. Food was great. I had the vegan chorizo hash with the full vegan experience and I would not hesitate to go back anytime I am staying in Wrigleyville. Do it!

Food is delicious but I'm not sure it's worth the price. The server was sweet and the place is cute. The breakfast burrito was good but I wish it was not smothered so ask for sauce on the side or inside but not all over it.

    BLT BENEDICT

Obsessed with this place and I can't believe I haven't gone sooner! I got the BLT Benedict and it's pretty high up on my list of best Benedict's ever. The breakfast potatoes are cut into small pieces and extremely well seasoned. I was so into them. They have a great dog friendly patio & the service was quick/kind. Defiantly check it out for brunch!

A nice place to grab breakfast on a lazy morning or afternoon because they have a menu full of comfort food and breakfast foods. We were seated quickly, no reservation. The space was clean and comfortable, and the staff were kind and quick with service. I got chicken and waffles, the waffle was a little too crispy and the chicken was just ok. My friend enjoyed her French toast. Expresso Martin was good too! I would go back to try their pancakes.

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

The outside had a light coating of sugar that gave it just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. It had a light crispness on the outside, then a warm, pillowy center that practically melted away with each bite. I finished it way faster than I expected. I bravely went for the latin-inspired latte flights, consisting of Mexican mocha, Coquito, horchata, and cafe de Olla. My favorite out of these four was the coquito because of the coconut pieces, which blended well with the latte. I know it sounded silly, but I enjoyed chewing these coconut flakes and they were good palate cleansers! The presentation was da bomb as well. The only reason that I couldn't give five stars to "Stockyard" was limited seating. The place was super cute, but there were only 3 tables and less than 4 high chair seating against the windows, plus some outdoor seating on the pedestrian walkway. The laptop users were respectfully directed to sit at the windows and outlets were available. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable. I asked the details of the latte flight and they explained the offerings. I thought there was only one type of latte flights, but I believe the one I selected was very much suited to my preferences. "Stockyard Coffeehouse" is accessible via routes CTA 44 (Racine/Wallace) and CTA 8 (Halsted) busses. Our family and extended family often ordered birthday cakes from them, and their mango cake was our favorite. When mangoes were in season, they used plenty of fresh mango in the cakes. Their cakes are always fresh, light, fluffy, and not too sweet. My daughter and I also love their individual cakes, especially the Black Pearl and Walnut Cake. Their pineapple buns and egg tarts are her favorites as well. Saint Anna has also been part of our daughter's childhood. When she was little, my husband used to bring her here before or after Chinese school in Chinatown on Sundays. Her go-to breakfast items were the Butter Bun, Ham and Macaroni in Soup, and Diced Ham and Corn in Cream Rice. As she got older, Curry Chicken with Potato became her favorite. She especially loved the potato cubes soaked in the delicious, mild curry sauce. She would always ask for more potatoes and less chicken, haha! Saint Anna is a family-run business, and Sara and Irene, the daughters-in-law, used to take care of the front of house. They were always so friendly and accommodating. After a 6-year hiatus, we finally returned one Friday recently when we happened to be in the area with a friend. Sara is now a co-owner, and it was wonderful to see her again. She immediately recognized us and was so warm and welcoming. She even asked me to relay her greetings to my sisters when she greeted us and again when we were leaving. Those little gestures made our return feel especially meaningful. We were still full from a big dim sum lunch, so my daughter picked up 2 Mini Pineapple Buns and 2 Paper-Wrapped Sponge Cakes, while I got a Red Bean Roll. Everything was fresh, soft, and delicious, and the total came to just under $8, really a great value. Our friend also purchased 2 Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings with Chicken. I had never really paid attention to their limited dim sum selection before, so that was a nice discovery. We love Saint Anna and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area.
