It was late at night and my buddy and I were looking for some diner food for our trip to South Padre Island. There was basically no one there, but we had the nicest server ever. I got the 5 dollar meal. 2 egg breakfast slam with over easy eggs. The eggs were perfect and has browns were delicious and the eggs over the toast with the goo dripping over it was delectable! The manager was super nice. I don't even care that it took forever for them to sit us and drinks to come out. But when the food came out it was actually terrible. The chicken fried steak had a funny after taste and I told my partner to not eat it. The next day she ended up getting sick. I hate that we paid almost 70$ for basically no service and food that was terrible. Check your ticket before you cash out and make sure you are able to tip the amount you feel is deserved. My husband wanted to take our family out and when he paid and checked the ticket..he noticed that he wasn't able to pick the % amount for a tip that 18% was automatically added and the manager on duty didn't even say anything .it was only until my husband went back to ask questions did he back track and say the 18% is automatic on all tables no matter if you're a party of two or six,when they have it posted everywhere that 18% is added to tops of 6 or more automatically..but this location seems to be adding it to all tops. I walked into this *completely* empty Dennys. Literally just employees. I ordered a coffee with milk. I was told that I would have to purchase a whole glass of milk in order to have a splash of milk in my coffee. He said the milk was weighed, or something? Visited Denny's about 12 on a Saturday night. Expected the usual Denny's standards but were sadly mistaken. We were informed that they were understaffed but had no idea how that would affect our meal. I received a breakfast that was inedible. Eggs were more rubbery than my tires. Hash browns were undercooked, and sausage was overcooked into oblivion. Seriously! Inedible! You turned customers away, but were unable to properly take care of the customers you had. Why would you keep the doors open if you can't provide your usual standard of service? We got Grand Slammed to the tune of $38 for food we couldn't eat! Not cool! Where to start... One new server + 6 tables all at once (for a total of 6 tables in the whole place) + a lazy manager = really bad experience. I had to get menus for us and the table next to us. I found a piece of parsley in my soda. The appetizers showed up right after the main meals because, per the waiter, they "had to open several bags of food and so they wanted to get all the main meals out and we could snack on our appetizers after dinner..." ??? But we were willing to just go with the flow because come on - its Denny's. But when we cut into our little steaks, the smell of spoiled meat propelled us out of our seats and straight through the front door. The manager on duty watched us walk out and made no effort to stop and inquire what the problem was. He also never made any effort to help the lone server on the floor who was trying to take care of everyone. Everything that went wrong was not the server's fault. He was trying.
