We did the Zombie Escape room 2/4 - and we had such a great time! This was such an immersive and fun experience for us. We were laughing, stressed, entertained- scared! Our guide- I can't remember her name (sorry!) was awesome and had such a great sense of humor! I got really into the storyline and though I am scaredy-cat myself, was feeling scared just enough to make this believable. It was one room but almost felt like 2-3 separate ones- the decor and detailing was really well done. I don't want to give away any surprises but there were definitely some really cool and well thought of components to this. We loved the details and puzzles in this and it was fun seeing who was able to crack what code. This really highlights team work and people's strengths/weaknesses. As a side now, I spoke with the owner prior to booking and she was super friendly and nice on the phone. It's always nice to support businesses with owners who seem to really care about their employees and customers. Would recommend and can't wait to try another! read more

I tried this out with a group of friends tonight, it's not my first escape room but it was my first one at this location. We did the Espionage room and it was a lot of fun, even though we didn't "win." One of the coordinators later told us that we were all really good individually, but as a group (with communicating) we were awful, haha ... This room was a little different than the other I have done (at the Royal Oak escape room), clues were slipped under the door and also (no spoilers) you have to listen closely for some clues as well. We *almost* solved the puzzle but then ran out of time ... an hour is pretty short when you're trying to solve a mystery! This location has two other rooms, I believe - a zombie one and a circus-type one - and I'd like to try those at some point too. We had ten people in our group and for one hour, it's about $260, I believe, since we each paid $26 ($25 plus tax). It's kind of in a random location also, in an office park in Warren, but because they have so many different rooms, it works for them. There's a large sign saying BREAKOUT and pointing to the building, too, that is hard to miss. Friendly staff as well. read more

Maybe I'm biased because we broke out, but I loved this escape room. I'd done an escape room elsewhere before, and BreakOut was a bit better. I liked that it was casual and not overly cheesy, and the hints were balanced in that they weren't ridiculously difficult but definitely not easy either. The hints were also very creative- if you do these often, I would imagine you get similar clues once in a while, but BreakOut had a few that I felt were incredibly well thought out. I don't remember out hosts/narrator's name (he looked a little like Vince Vaughn!), but he was very sweet and enthusiastic without being corny. Our group loved talking with him after our hour was up. We asked him questions about the business and our experience in the Espionage Room, questions that I'm sure he gets every day since he sees the same set up every day, but he seemed invested in the conversation. One thing I liked better about my experience elsewhere was that the host/narrator there commented on each person- like who was the best communicator/team leader/etc. It was fun to see what somebody could gather about you by simply watching you solve puzzles. Just a suggestion to add to the wrap up. Also, what might stop me from coming back more is the price, but it seems pretty standard for an escape room, just a little hefty for me. read more

This was my first time going to an escape room, my team went for an outing and a nice afternoon out. The staff member was very helpful and gave us some general hints beforehand that helped us start out well. The room, the Ringmaster's Den, was set up really well and was a great challenge. The little details really made it interesting. The hints given during the game were vague enough to not give things away, but with some hard thinking helped get us unstuck or point us in the right direction. We almost got it, we ran out of time when we were almost there -- I think that was pretty good for a first time in an escape room for everyone but one. This is highly recommended for a group event, and if you look, you might find a Groupon. read more

Sooooo much fun!!!! This was such a great idea to spend my friends birthday here. A small group of us joined another group (that's how you make new friends) and did the Ringmasters lair. I don't want to give away any secrets but it's circus related. You spend an hour trapped in a room with 10 people attempting to solve clues in order to get the room to unlock before the hour is up. We were so close! But we had so much fun. It was a bonus that the group of girls with us were super nice. The employee running it was also really nice and showed us everything we missed at the end. Loved it and will for sure come back to do the zombie one! read more

Building is in a random location that wasn't marked well, so we turned around a couple times finding it (w/GPS). Fitting for an escape I suppose LOL. We did the Ringmaster's Den with a group of 6 (2 teens, 4 adults). Made it out with 1.5min to spare. At first I was sad to learn it was a single room, all the others I've done are multi-room...however, it was a large room, planned well and the same number of puzzles as the multi-room. I'm not sure how to explain it, but the clues didn't exactly require intelligence/outside knowledge, like other places have, they were more brain-teaser style. Both styles are good, different people work better with each style, so it depends on your preference. Staff was polite and helpful. Really want to to back and do the Zombie room! read more

Sooo much fun!!! I've done Zombie Roadhouse and Ringmaster's Den at this Breakout location with different teams. We didn't pass the first time but did manage to escape the second time with just minutes to spare! I've been to other escape rooms before, and the setup, puzzles, and themes at Breakout are truly the best. You'll feel like you're actually in the scenario you're trying to escape from, and the pressure of time ticking away and the inevitable excitement of your allies really add to the hour-long adrenaline rush! Our gamemaster yesterday was Mary. She was such a delight!!! My team had 11 people, all beginners and mostly first-timers. She gave us a fun-filled overview, and just the right number of hints at the right time to ensure we were challenged up until the very end. Regardless of whether you win or lose, you and your allies will have an epic experience! If you're looking to try escape rooms for the first time, look no further! Bring your friends, family, and coworkers--the more, the merrier (up to 10, 12, or 14 depending on theme). After all, you're gonna need a good mix of creativity and skills to escape... I came here with a group of 8 people on Friday night. We did the zombie roadhouse: It has been several months since the collapse of the world. A virus originating from an unknown source has caused a zombie outbreak that has overtaken society. The few survivors that have not been contaminated have taken refuge in various locations. Many of these locations are running low or are out of supplies. You have come upon a roadhouse bar. There is only one hour of fuel left in the generator. You enter the premises hoping to get an hour of refuge while collecting the supplies you need to defend yourself ​and survive the Zombie Apocalypse! We were told this was the hardest room to do as the average breakout is about 20%. We probably would have escaped if we had 5 extra minutes!! This is a great team building activity and it's definitely fun to see how everyone works and communicate with one another! We all had a great time; The more the merrier in this case! Zombie roadhouse was my first ever escape room and I've been hooked ever since. The production value and depth of that rooms puzzles is amazing. So much so that even though that was years ago, and I've now done 10+ rooms, I still compare everything to that first room. This past weekend I tried the ringmasters den with a friend. This room did not disappoint either. Our game master, Mary, was one of the best I've ever had. Her knowledge of the game and small clues made the game more enjoyable. I even liked the detail put into how the clues were delivered. Again the production value did not disappoint. If you're new to the art of escaping or have a few experiences under your belt this company has great themes and game masters that will ensure a good time. I highly recommend! read more

Well, we didn't make it out of the room but it was a blast! We went with a group of 6 people and for most of us it was the first time doing any type of escape the room. In spite of this we choose the zombie themed room which is the most difficult. Everyone was so nice and you can tell that they love their job, which means that the experience is a superb one. I loved the Ringmasters Den!! Angel was our host and was AMAZING.... it was only 4 of us so unfortunately we didn't make it out in time, but she told us that it was only a 37% escape rate. I would recommend a bigger group to do this one but it was fun either way. We are going back this weekend! read more

We visited the Ann Arbor location. We found the game enjoyable and would possibly consider doing it again somewhere else. Cons: Not worth $25/ Per person nothing changes the more people you have. The person we had giving our instructions seemed a bit aloof, or perhaps hung over. Anyone can create difficult puzzles and pile them on top of each other but the best rooms are the ones that give you a sense of excitement and FUN while doing so - I feel that this one fell short in that respect. Suggestion: Make sure the staff is happy and excited to be there (or at least able to fake it). read more

I have done Room Breakout twice. I have completed both rooms - the Ringmaster's Den and the Game of Espionage. Both experiences were amazing! The people that put this together really thought it through. We did this with colleagues and it was an excellent team building event. The first time we had 12, the second time we had 7. I think the sweet spot is 6-10 people. Too many and it gets chaotic, too few and you don't have enough resources. Ringmaster is definitely easier than Espionage - so if you've never done this - start there. Good luck - may the odds be ever in your favor! read more

Super fun! We have done several escape rooms but we brought a big group of family members and several had never done an escape room before. We ranged from age 8 to age 70 and there was plenty going on in this room to keep everyone busy and engaged the whole time. We had a great time and would love to come back and do the other rooms. The company I work for planned this as an outing/team-building exercise. We did the Zombie Roadhouse with 12 people. At first, it's overwhelming and feels crowded, but once you figure out how the game works/what needs to be done it gets exciting! I would say 8-10 people is probably the best number of participants for the Zombie Roadhouse. With 12, several things got overlooked by assuming someone had already investigated it, and at other times, too many people were focusing on one puzzle that could have been figured out by only 2-3 people. Overall, we had a blast, worked great as a team and bonded. After, we stopped at Kuhnhenn's (a two minute drive!) for beers and pizza. Great night and can't wait to come back for more! read more

This is an edit to my first review. I originally thought that the pricing was too high based on my expectations but I actually did not know what to expect so I fell my original review was not fair. The game was actually really fun. With a group of 10 people it can get hectic but that can be said for many activities. We worked together and got out of the room just in time. The place was tons of fun. We had a large group and they suggested rather than crowd in one room, split up and compete with two teams (for the same price). Having the smaller teams led to greater participation. It was a blast and I would recommend everyone to try it out. The room was challenging; but not "unbreakable" (well at least for one group) Finally, our host was kind enough to provide us with a "fire ball" show! Loved my experience at the Warren location! Mary was super nice and helped us every step of the way. The room wasn't extremely hard but it was challenging, which I liked. Mary even gave us an extra 10 minutes to attempt to solve the clues we had left. Afterwards Mary came in and walked us through the parts we missed to help piece everything together. We did the Zombie Roadhouse and had a great time! The puzzles/clues were challenging and made us think! Definitely made us put our heads together and figuring things out. Well went to this location today... They were closed even though online they had events still open with availability. Arrived 30mins before the start of event, to a locked door and no sign nor explanation. Too bad for them they lost business. No where on their web-sight does it say it's by appointment only. Didn't find that out till we looked at Yelp. Disappointing! They should updated their web-sight! read more

I have been to one other place in the area like it, but this one was definitely better. I look forward to the time I get to go back. It is definitely something different to do on a Saturday night.
