I have had a group of 5th grade girls begging me to take them to an escape room for weeks now. When they asked again during the holidays, I figured this was the time to do it. I worked with Jess to figure out which room was best for their age and the number of them that could make it. She was incredibly helpful and we settled on the kidnapped room theme. Kenny was their guide and was super patient and helpful! Me and one other mom stayed and just chatted the whole time in the waiting room and we could hear squeals and giggling the entire hour. Even though they didn't escape, they swore they were only 2 minutes from it and have vowed to keep coming here and trying it to get it right! My friends and I are HUGE Escape Room fanatics, and were able to break out of the Hostage room at 56:59 with the minimal amount of nudges in the right direction! Our Game Master was Jessy, and she was very patient with us as we got checked in: offering us water, directing one of us to the bathroom upon offering us the chance to go before we are in the room for an hour, etc. Regarding the room itself, I definitely liked that this Escape Room format was linear related to its clues and hints. In particular, this was in comparison to another Escape Room that we had done, which had hints in the 1st room that weren't used until the 3rd/last room. It helped make the room doable, but still challenging enough. And speaking of challenging, the puzzles and clues themselves (for the most part) were neither extremely difficult nor easy (I of course can't say much else to avoid spoiling the experience for others). Lastly, what we found particularly cool with this room was that (and hopefully this doesn't give away too much) they were able to incorporate the use of technology such as iPads and iPhones for some cool effects to solve parts of the puzzles found throughout the room: making this lone room experience (in comparison to the 3-room-themed experiences I've previously done) fascinating beyond your initial impression of the room itself! They also followed the theme of the room, Hostage, down to a tee, having ACTUALLY been taken hostage through the use of blindfolds and police-grade handcuffs! One of the FEW cons to this Escape Room Experience is that they don't necessarily have record times to beat - but even so, they explained that this is due to the fact that you can get an unlimited number of hints: so some groups could make it out in 10 minutes having used a ton of clues, while others may get out in 59 minutes having only used a hint or two. Therefore, if you're the competitive type, you can't really gauge yourself in regards to your performance compared to others. With all of this in mind, we definitely would like to come back to try the other rooms that they have, and are already in the midst of planning our next game experience! read more

You know millennials love our phones but this was an experience that you had to be 100% in the moment and it made that so much more enjoyable. This was our first ever "escape" experience and I don't think it could have been better. There were only 3 of us so we were paired with another family of 4 with 2 children. It was a blast. We chose the Casino scenario and Kenny was our game master. Honestly, we could not have gotten luckier. He let us play the game and knew exactly when to help and when to let us fight on to figure it out. We escaped with only 00:01 left on the clock and it was the perfect close to a perfect experience. This was our first trip to an escape room. Our family of five had it all to ourselves. Our fame guide was Tara and she did a great job with us. We chose the casino room puzzle and it was harder and more complex than I expected but it was challenging and most of all - FUN! These are not for kids. Our youngest is 15 and he was a great help. We were all engaged and working together to solve the various puzzles and find clues. We played two separate rooms. One group was in The Kidnapping room. Puzzles were very challenging but not so hard we were lost. We had a great group that worked great together. We escaped with 10:25 left. RJ was a great game master and helped only when we asked for a clue (3 or 4). The other group did The Hostage with :28 left. I've been twice to Breakout Games - Plano. Both were amazing experiences. This most recent one was with a group of friends for a birthday celebration, including a couple of escape room virgins. Tara, our Game Master, was thorough in the instructions, friendly in manner, and just the right amount of helpful as we tried to escape (we only needed two clues, and both the ones she gave were JUST enough information for us to figure out the next step without giving the answer itself). I love it that you can book personal rooms - they're the perfect size for 5-6 people. The challenges are tough enough to make you sweat a bit, and creative to boot. A great place for first-timers (our virgins had a great time) or regulars. Looking forward to seeing new scenarios come out - will definitely be back to try them! read more

Hostage: We did hostages and found it to be well themed, progressive and fairly challenging. There was one little thing a little out of alignment, but a quick question to the hostess solved it. We've done several other rooms and this one is very high in our list due to the creativity and unique use of props. Its not super showy fancy, but just a well done room. The only downside to this room was it basically being an oven in there. A box fan in the corner didn't really do anything to help 6 people in a small room for an hour. We didn't see any AC vents anywhere, but they are new and we assume they plan to resolve that before summer, hopefully. Theme:This was well themed and some of the decor seemed so authentic that it was somewhat scary at first. Quality:This was good - all but one puzzle was clear once we understood it, and as noted above, we were able to figure that one out by asking when the alignment seemed odd. Difficulty:There were some great puzzles here - some took us a bit to figure out but once we took the time to get them, the next step was clear. Fun:This was very fun - some great creative puzzles and some good pairing with others (which was oddly appropriate for this scenario) made this a great time. read more

After the call, I had got an email with everything set up and the estimate. It was a very easy process, and booking two rooms was $300 total. We got there and had two groups of 5. The first group that did kidnapping got out with about a minute left, and the second group got out with about 5 minutes left. My friends and I have been dreaming about doing an Escape Room for some time, but we kept putting it off until finally this week when three of us went in to play Runaway Train. We were excited enough to watch a few tips and tricks videos on youtube before we got there so we had a vague idea of how to strategise but honestly, everything goes out the window when that timer is ticking and you're desperately trying to stop the train and save the passengers. Thanks to the occasional well dropped hint from our Game Master, RJ, we managed it with 1 minute and 33 seconds to go. It was absolutely THE MOST FUN!! We will definitely be back to Breakout again as soon as possible. (In fact, I'm already signed up for another Breakout game in Maryland where I'll be on vacation next week.) I went to Breakout Games for my 60th birthday . Only one out of the five in my party had ever been to an escape room. It was a blast ! It was very challenging but we were able to break out with one minute and 45 seconds to spare . The person working the game was helpful without being too helpful . I would highly recommend that if you like puzzles and solving mysteries that you give it a try . Also, you have to be a team player and be able to work well with others. This is my third time attending to some sort of escape rooms and by far, it is my favorite of all! My friend decided to pick something fun at the last minute; she was able to find, I believe, it was a 10pm time slot with the casino theme. When you go to the website, they have these schedule with the times and the themes that you can pick. So we had the casino room to ourselves and I'm telling you, we were all laughing while figuring out these clues and mind you, we're deaf as well! The staffs were super friendly to us and Tara, a guide that give us hints in the room, was so nice and she used her laptop and white boards to communicate with us. She just made us really comfortable and we love that. The room was pretty hard and the clues were very very very creative but complex -- the entire experience was just really enjoyable and we only had an hour to escape the room *we managed to get out with 20 seconds left haha* We love it that we are thinking to come back again this Thursday with a different challenge! read more
