The Hero 1st Place (at the time)

I am always a huge fan of escape rooms and this one was located super close to the hotel I was staying at. Initially, I only planned for one room but we had so much fun that we decided to do a second one the next day. I won't go fully into detail of what occurred in the rooms, but I will say that both had unique applications in what you had to do. The Hero was a bit easier for my group compared to Secret Sabotage. I will say that be very aware of your surroundings and just enjoy yourself. Our Game Masters were very kind and only gave us hints either when we absolutely needed it, or when we had all the pieces and just got stuck in applying which ones to where. Overall, my party had a great time and would love to do the other rooms whenever we go back here some time again.

I decided to go check out my first escape room. I got lost going across the street. I'm not sure how. So I called and Devin was great help. He even came outside to meet me. So I knew where to go. Devin was nice and friendly. I told him we never done it before and he went through everything with us. He made us feel confident and comfortable. We chose the hero room for 10pm. I'm glad it was open late. You can grab dinner and then come. Great date night option. We didn't escape the room but we had a great time trying. Next time we just have to go faster. We were knocking out the answers but not fast enough.

While on vacation in Hawaii, we stayed at the Hale Koa and my brother and his gf always like to find escape rooms. This location was walking distance from our hotel and walking distance to a lot of the shops. It was fairly easy to find. My brother made a reservation online and when we got there I think only the hardest level was available. It was pretty good for a group of 4 but unfortunately we didn't make it out. It was easy to fill out the waiver online and we got to keep our stuff in our room and didn't have to worry about lockers or anything. The staff were friendly and I don't know how easy parking is if you drive. Might be easier getting dropped off since it's in a busy area.

    Y2K Escape Room

We booked this escape room since it was located in the same area as our resort (Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk). Our group of six completed the Y2K escape room (barely). Overall we had a blast and our host, Bella, was super friendly and helpful. As I am typing this, our group is already considering doing another one before our trip ends!

My group & I did the Patient 57 room. The difficulty is rated 7/10 but I'd say its more of a 5? The puzzles were pretty straight forward & we didn't need to use all of our free clues. One of the puzzles wasn't reset correctly & ate up several minutes of our time. Good news is that we still made it out in time to take 1st place, yay! We had fun overall & if you're looking to do an escape room while you are in Waikiki, between this one & Chambers, I recommend Breakout.

I love the whole experience of it and as someone who is confidently competitive, this more than happily scratches the itch and allows me (and my friends) to go crazy and get a little unhinged. My biggest advice is that your experience is what you make of it so whether you are a large group and you adopt a couple in or a couple who needs to get adopted in, this is a great opportunity to meet new people and just have fun. The host will do their best to run the show smoothly and fun, but at the end of the day you can really determine your fun, and let me tell you, it's also not that hard. This is one of my favorite activities to do ever since it came to Oahu because of the variety depending on who you bring or the games you play. I also love that it's fun for all ages and for anyone's level of common/uncommon knowledge. It's one of the most unique activities on Oahu (IMO) and it's so worth more than one visit.

I honestly thought this was going to be mediocre or somewhat boring and for only kids, but boooooy was I wrong. We did a family feud-like game show amongst my friends who wanted to split the teams up to mens vs women. I'm sure they regretted it because the men destroyed them lol. Overall, great host and setup to make it actually feel like you're at an actual game show. There were a ton of different game challenges which allowed different people to engage. I would've loved to try their escape room too, but we didn't have time for that. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Located in the Ala Moana Shopping Center on the 2nd floor in the middle of the mall near Target.

"Not an Escape Room, Just a Frustrating Candy Hunt"…read more I've done a lot of escape rooms, and I can confidently say this was the worst one I've ever experienced. We booked "Sadie's Sweet Shop" at Room with a Clue expecting a fun, candy-themed escape challenge. Instead, we got a poorly designed scavenger hunt with no story, no urgency, and no objective beyond collecting candy. There is no escape element whatsoever--you're not solving puzzles to get out or to advance a storyline. You're just wandering the room trying to figure out what random combination of props might unlock another piece of candy. It felt like the creator designed puzzles purely for their own amusement, not for the enjoyment of players. Many of the puzzles were confusing not because they were hard, but because they were disconnected, self-indulgent, and illogical. To make things worse, the room was filled with red herrings--not clever misdirections, just pointless distractions that wasted time and made the experience frustrating instead of fun. The whole game lacked cohesion. There was no narrative thread tying things together, no build-up, no satisfying payoff. Just a cluttered space full of unrelated tasks. It felt like a rough draft of an escape room, not something worth charging admission for. Escape room fans: skip this one. Honolulu has much better options. Save your time and money

You can earn Shoyu packets by cracking codes, solving riddles, and answering triva correctly. To be honest, I did not think it was going to be super challenging, but compared to the mainland chain escape rooms, I would say it's about a 6 considering you want to "breakout" AND beat the other teams that have set records for collecting the most Shoyu packets. Plus, since they only offer one breakout room, they probably can't make it too difficult. I LOVED that our administrator was just as excited and happy to be there as we were. I wish I took more photos of the inside, but pls check it out because they change the theme every quarter or so. Can't wait to try the Christmas themed one that she (the manager/owner?) was telling us about!

She loves the idea of escape rooms, but panics when we're in them LOL! I scoured the internet for something we haven't done before and all the escape rooms were either too pricey, wouldn't explain how to escape when we inevitably didn't breakout, or didn't have private escape rooms. Then Google suggested Scaventours which in all my days of searching never appeared! Scaventours is on the ground floor of Marriot Waikiki. Opposite side of the hotel from the Valet. The side with the tour bus pickup. The sign says they're open daily from 9-7 I believe, but you can look up the games and book online. We booked our game morning of and all went well. There's no parking, so we parked at the Zoo like they suggested. We parked at the back half of the zoo (Mauka side) and just followed that road straight pass Denny's. That path lead us straight to the correct hotel entrance to find Scaventours easily. ALSO, the Zoo Parking wasn't taking debit cards and my husband only had a $10. He paid for 2 hours but the machine didn't give change so we got ripped. Be aware of that when parking there. After reading up on the games, I decided we would do Kanaloa's Curse. A scavenger hunt that stayed INSIDE the hotel with various puzzles fit for ages 6-11 even though some of them had me stumped. I appreciate that the game isn't timed and that there was an option to stay inside the hotel because I'm not trying to take my 7yo scavenger hunting on the streets of Waiks. It was super reasonably priced at $23 for my husband and I and $14 for my daughter. We were given the map and a clipboard of puzzles, complimentary pens and candy and we were off. The hunt took us through the ground floor of the hotel finding different things and solving puzzles. It took us just about an hour with my 7yo finding everything and doing every puzzle, so it was PERFECT for her!! At the end, we returned to the store, unlocked the treasure, she got some prizes, and we took photos with the mascot raccoon statue. She was immediately begging to do the rest of the hunts. Successful find both Scaventours and the actual scaventour!!!!
