The staff here is really friendly and helpful! It would be nice if they switched up the too rooms as I believe it's been the same for years now and kind of expensive ($45/person) but still a fun experience! We did the art heist one tonight and had fun(:

Fun hands on clues, creative set up It was really hot but I'm not sure if it was because of the theme of the escape room. *we did prison break

The time traveler room was awesome! Very intricate hints and displays, also our game Zar Luke was great with guiding us when we couldn't figure out ONE PART! Which was upsetting that we needed it because we're super competitive LOL.

Located near Target, we celebrated a family member's birthday here with not one but TWO escape rooms. Surprisingly, photos are allowed, but I was too involved with trying to escape that I did not take any photos. Inside the rooms, there were clever clues to solve even one involving a BB gun to shoot targets to get clues when the target fell! Of course we had to try one of the hardest rooms, "Prison Break" which we almost didn't escape, but our host was great at helping us solve the puzzles. After our first game was over, our host offered a 20% discount on our next room which we took him up on. As it turns out, Groupons offers a discount on Monday - Thursday.....next time.

Watch your pants! On 6/28, my friend (an employee at another location) and I attended the 11:00 p.m. Playground game. After we completed the puzzle to unlock the slide, I went down first, and the slide immediately ripped my jeans wide open. My friend followed right behind me, and her soft cotton pants snagged too. Neither of us had buttons, jewelry, or anything else on the back of our clothing that could have caused that. The game guide offered that we could leave the game only after hearing me say I just wanted to leave. But did not speaker in for any assistance. While my friend finished the game, I was stuck standing in a dark corner with the back of my jeans torn open. I was incredibly uncomfortable and did not know what to do. When we finished, The game guide only offered an apology and when we asked if this had happened before, he casually said, "Yes, a few times." This was not the souvenir we had asked for. Thankfully we had already paid for t-shirts so at least I had something to cover the gaping hole in the back of my jeans. I understand the store was closing for the night, but it was a very uncomfortable experience. Management needs to take action for staff training on sensitivity. And franchise owners need to put money into equipment repairs, as it could have dug into our skin. We were really disappointed, especially since we are visiting from out of state.

I love the whole experience of it and as someone who is confidently competitive, this more than happily scratches the itch and allows me (and my friends) to go crazy and get a little unhinged. My biggest advice is that your experience is what you make of it so whether you are a large group and you adopt a couple in or a couple who needs to get adopted in, this is a great opportunity to meet new people and just have fun. The host will do their best to run the show smoothly and fun, but at the end of the day you can really determine your fun, and let me tell you, it's also not that hard. This is one of my favorite activities to do ever since it came to Oahu because of the variety depending on who you bring or the games you play. I also love that it's fun for all ages and for anyone's level of common/uncommon knowledge. It's one of the most unique activities on Oahu (IMO) and it's so worth more than one visit.

I honestly thought this was going to be mediocre or somewhat boring and for only kids, but boooooy was I wrong. We did a family feud-like game show amongst my friends who wanted to split the teams up to mens vs women. I'm sure they regretted it because the men destroyed them lol. Overall, great host and setup to make it actually feel like you're at an actual game show. There were a ton of different game challenges which allowed different people to engage. I would've loved to try their escape room too, but we didn't have time for that. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Staff here were friendly, and also helpful in helping us with the escape during, especially since this was a family event with a younger kid, they probably felt bad for us, and we were not doing great overall, lol. Definitely exceeded that 3 hint limit! The room we did was the Y2K one, which was certainly a fun blast from the past room. For those who were 90s kids or fondly remember the 90s, this will definitely be your jam. The room itself was wide ranging of difficulty, while I wouldn't recommend for beginners, it's certainly got a good balance between difficult puzzles and easier ones. The room is also good for kids. Nothing jumpy with it that happens with this one, though, they might miss a lot of the references. But hey, if you're bringing your kids here you can tell them all about the things in there, "Back in my day...", and remind yourself how old you are! Anyways, don't want to say too much and give anything away. Have fun with the escape at Breakout Waikiki!

"Not an Escape Room, Just a Frustrating Candy Hunt"…read more I've done a lot of escape rooms, and I can confidently say this was the worst one I've ever experienced. We booked "Sadie's Sweet Shop" at Room with a Clue expecting a fun, candy-themed escape challenge. Instead, we got a poorly designed scavenger hunt with no story, no urgency, and no objective beyond collecting candy. There is no escape element whatsoever--you're not solving puzzles to get out or to advance a storyline. You're just wandering the room trying to figure out what random combination of props might unlock another piece of candy. It felt like the creator designed puzzles purely for their own amusement, not for the enjoyment of players. Many of the puzzles were confusing not because they were hard, but because they were disconnected, self-indulgent, and illogical. To make things worse, the room was filled with red herrings--not clever misdirections, just pointless distractions that wasted time and made the experience frustrating instead of fun. The whole game lacked cohesion. There was no narrative thread tying things together, no build-up, no satisfying payoff. Just a cluttered space full of unrelated tasks. It felt like a rough draft of an escape room, not something worth charging admission for. Escape room fans: skip this one. Honolulu has much better options. Save your time and money

You can earn Shoyu packets by cracking codes, solving riddles, and answering triva correctly. To be honest, I did not think it was going to be super challenging, but compared to the mainland chain escape rooms, I would say it's about a 6 considering you want to "breakout" AND beat the other teams that have set records for collecting the most Shoyu packets. Plus, since they only offer one breakout room, they probably can't make it too difficult. I LOVED that our administrator was just as excited and happy to be there as we were. I wish I took more photos of the inside, but pls check it out because they change the theme every quarter or so. Can't wait to try the Christmas themed one that she (the manager/owner?) was telling us about!

She loves the idea of escape rooms, but panics when we're in them LOL! I scoured the internet for something we haven't done before and all the escape rooms were either too pricey, wouldn't explain how to escape when we inevitably didn't breakout, or didn't have private escape rooms. Then Google suggested Scaventours which in all my days of searching never appeared! Scaventours is on the ground floor of Marriot Waikiki. Opposite side of the hotel from the Valet. The side with the tour bus pickup. The sign says they're open daily from 9-7 I believe, but you can look up the games and book online. We booked our game morning of and all went well. There's no parking, so we parked at the Zoo like they suggested. We parked at the back half of the zoo (Mauka side) and just followed that road straight pass Denny's. That path lead us straight to the correct hotel entrance to find Scaventours easily. ALSO, the Zoo Parking wasn't taking debit cards and my husband only had a $10. He paid for 2 hours but the machine didn't give change so we got ripped. Be aware of that when parking there. After reading up on the games, I decided we would do Kanaloa's Curse. A scavenger hunt that stayed INSIDE the hotel with various puzzles fit for ages 6-11 even though some of them had me stumped. I appreciate that the game isn't timed and that there was an option to stay inside the hotel because I'm not trying to take my 7yo scavenger hunting on the streets of Waiks. It was super reasonably priced at $23 for my husband and I and $14 for my daughter. We were given the map and a clipboard of puzzles, complimentary pens and candy and we were off. The hunt took us through the ground floor of the hotel finding different things and solving puzzles. It took us just about an hour with my 7yo finding everything and doing every puzzle, so it was PERFECT for her!! At the end, we returned to the store, unlocked the treasure, she got some prizes, and we took photos with the mascot raccoon statue. She was immediately begging to do the rest of the hunts. Successful find both Scaventours and the actual scaventour!!!!

The bar is pretty cool. It has a lot of monitors that are playing sports or other programs. The sitting area aint too big (pic) but I imagine very crowded on the weekends. They even have inhouse bathrooms that wasnt too clean but not nasty either. The food is all bar food such as burgers fries tacos fish and chips etc. I'm not commenting on the drinks because I dont drink. The service was kind of slow, but then again we went on a tuesday just before 5 pm. They had three staff that we could see. A bartender, a waiter, and I guess a host. The staff wasn't overly friendly but pleasant. The food was ok not good or bad just average. The prices was manageable specially it being in the mall and the portions was pretty good.
