We were looking for something fun to do with our daughter on the long Labor Day weekend especially because we rarely get weekends off together, so we wanted to make it as special as possible. She loves the idea of escape rooms, but panics when we're in them LOL! I scoured the internet for something we haven't done before and all the escape rooms were either too pricey, wouldn't explain how to escape when we inevitably didn't breakout, or didn't have private escape rooms. Then Google suggested Scaventours which in all my days of searching never appeared! Scaventours is on the ground floor of Marriot Waikiki. Opposite side of the hotel from the Valet. The side with the tour bus pickup. The sign says they're open daily from 9-7 I believe, but you can look up the games and book online. We booked our game morning of and all went well. There's no parking, so we parked at the Zoo like they suggested. We parked at the back half of the zoo (Mauka side) and just followed that road straight pass Denny's. That path lead us straight to the correct hotel entrance to find Scaventours easily. ALSO, the Zoo Parking wasn't taking debit cards and my husband only had a $10. He paid for 2 hours but the machine didn't give change so we got ripped. Be aware of that when parking there. After reading up on the games, I decided we would do Kanaloa's Curse. A scavenger hunt that stayed INSIDE the hotel with various puzzles fit for ages 6-11 even though some of them had me stumped. I appreciate that the game isn't timed and that there was an option to stay inside the hotel because I'm not trying to take my 7yo scavenger hunting on the streets of Waiks. It was super reasonably priced at $23 for my husband and I and $14 for my daughter. We were given the map and a clipboard of puzzles, complimentary pens and candy and we were off. The hunt took us through the ground floor of the hotel finding different things and solving puzzles. It took us just about an hour with my 7yo finding everything and doing every puzzle, so it was PERFECT for her!! At the end, we returned to the store, unlocked the treasure, she got some prizes, and we took photos with the mascot raccoon statue. She was immediately begging to do the rest of the hunts. We did this scavenger game/hunt with the kids (ages 10-12). We chose "The Safe". Some of the puzzles were more challenging than others and the kids needed help. Unfortunately 2 lost interest early on. We pressed on and completed the hunt in about an hour and a half. I'd come back to try another, easier, hunt with the kids. I reached out to Greg to see if he could accommodate our group of 20 for a welcome activity for our Wedding. From day 1 he was responsive and excited to host us. The activity we did was a surprise to our guests and at first I think they were a little unsure lol. We made teams so everyone would get to know each other and it worked out great. My wife read about Scaventour in a magazine. My family had done about 7 or 8 escape rooms, so we were looking to do something a little different. This was an outdoor adventure, relying on your powers of observation as well as being able to decipher the clues. Greg was the Gamemaster, and he helped us along at various points. You have to walk fairly quickly, stopping at a half dozen places to solve puzzles. You end up walking maybe a mile and a half. We did our game at night, which was really fun. Greg was really good at explaining the game for us! The major difficulty was finding a parking space!! We ended up paying for parking for 4 hours at the Waikiki Banyan, costing $10 and walking 5 blocks. It was a little difficult communicating to hear one another because of the noise of Waikiki, but overall a great adventure!! read more

Group of 6 including a 3 yr old, a 5 yr old and a 10yr old, Charlie was an amazing game master and host. Puzzles were just challenging enough for the adults and had elements that suited to all the kids helping and feeling like they were part of the game. Greg, our guide, met us near the sands of Waikiki at the starting point by Duke's Statue. There were 4 adults and 2 kids in our group for our 6pm game time. You could recognize him as the Game Master because he had a big digital clock clipped near his shoulder, to count down the 60 minutes that we had to complete the puzzles and to solve the clues. Greg spoke in a very easy-going and friendly manner, and was quite pleasant. Actually, as he went over the ground rules, he made it clear that it was important for us to stay together and to not do anything illegal such as jaywalking. He was very mindful of others and of the land. We were given a black backpack with multiple combination locks on it. For each puzzle that we received, we needed to use our surroundings to find clues on how to solve each puzzle. It was challenging and fun! I would like to do this again, especially since there is an element of exploration as we trek through Waikiki on foot and enjoy the cool trade winds. With COVID going on we were trying to find something to do. I found Scaventour which is an outdoor Scavenger Hunt. My sister and I had a blast. Gregory was so great with booking our appointment. Omgosh...I LOVE this! My friends and I did Duke's Revenge last night and it was so FUN!! This was our first time in any sort of escape room-type thing and we couldn't stop laughing the whole way through. Our GM(Game Master) Glen was really patient with us and was really cool to us first timers. The missions weren't too hard and not too easy either. It took an hr and a half for us with our extra time but it felt like only 30 mins! That's how much fun we were having. I recommend this to anyone of any age group. Played the Duke's Revenge game and really liked it. The game was fun and a little challenging. The guide was very helpful when we needed a hint. This sounded like an interesting concept and with my son loving escape room games but not being locked in a room, I booked with them. To be honest, I did dread going to Waikiki, parking, and the heat of summer. BUT, we all had a great time! The time we wanted wasn't available but said to contact them. I did the online chat and they were very accommodating. They were able to find a gamemaster to come in at the time we needed. Awesome customer service. There were 6 of us (4 adults, 2 kids) and we nailed it! Nobody got really frustrated with each other (except my constant lack of knowing right from left) and the little ones didn't throw tantrums. Some of the directions were not the most intuitive and there were some kinks they are still working out with this new offering, but overall it was a great way for some competitive team building. We completed the Duke's Revenge and it was so much fun!! We had a minute and couple seconds to spare. With the side bingo game, its so easy to get side tracked from the game which makes it just as fun! I love the fact that you have to use your surroundings to solve the clues.
