The name is deceiving LOL we were on a family staycation in the area and took my little boys out to the beach. We were also hungry and saw the sign that said WINGS, my sons' dad who's a wings lover said "look there's a new wings spot at belmont park let's try it!" So we park our car across the street cz it was a busy MLK weekend (COVID?! ) As we walk closer I realized it was the same clothing/souvenir shop and they just changed the name LOL. So we ate hot dog on a Stick instead. Anywho... they do have ALOT of souvenirs and beach collections to choose from. affordable and perfect for gifts if you're from out of town. So rude for no reason. I was buying 4 coozies. I walked up to the register and said, "hi" as I handed the lady my items. No response just a stern look. I asked if they gave a discount for buying 4 of them and was interrupted while asking with a rude, "no". They have discounts all over the store, so I wasn't sure if the coozies were one of the discounts. Then after ringing them up she told me something in a foreign language. I asked her what she said since I didn't understand her. She just looked at me in a rude manner. There was a sign saying the tap wasn't working on the key pad, but then the machine kept saying to use tap. I told her I didn't know how to pay since it wasn't working. She just statred at me annoyingly. There was no reason for the attitude. I ended up paying $51.72 for 4 coozies. No thank you after I paid just an attitude like she was being put out by me buying somthing from the store. read more

What a disgusting place to not only shop at but to also work for!!! To start off, the building has broken AC, BLACK MOLD, poorly managed stock, no employee break room, including no employee refrigerator or microwave (lunches were able to be stored in a small fridge holding waters for customers to purchase, so anyone could take your lunch!) there was no proper interview or explanation of job duties, no formal training, the job posting said part time but employees are immediately started at 6 days a week, 8-9 hour shifts, theres a broken toilet, the store is COVERED in sand and dirt, which then covers you when you work there. Everyday I'd blow my nose to find black dust coming out. It took MONTHS for the irresponsible manager to be fired and the supervisor still doesn't know how to do his job. They absolutely do not care for or respect their employees or their lives outside of work. All of the merchandise is cheap garbage. Do not shop here or work here, ITS A JOKE!!! read more

We're walking off the uber breakfast plate from this morning, so we continued down the boardwalk between Crystal Pier and Belmont Park and stopped in here before heading back. It's been several years since the last trip to the Park itself. I'll echo the notes from Christine C. because Wings isn't the best surf shop in town, but it is a decent sized store that has an extensive collection of beach themed merchandise, gifts, and San Diego souvenirs. The store layout is clean, with clearly marked departments, and friendly associates available to help you find something. The adjacent South parking lot is large and shared by beach and park visitors, so availability varies depending on the season. WIngs is really the best beach store I have yet to come across. Prices are cheap which is very unusual for a store like this. Postcards 4 for $1, shirts 3 for $10, any kind of seashell you could want, big or small, a few bucks each. The one thing this store has going for it is it's size. I had to find some bday gifts for my nephew, and both of them went out of their way to find all kinds of cute kid stuff for me to choose from. I ended up getting him some fun stuff and I know he will be so happy! These 2 ladies were SO polite and kind and patient---this is what you want for an employee. I purchased a beach chair and umbrella to use on the beach. They both had signs posted with price at the displays and no stickers on the items. After my transaction I looked at my receipt and discovered that they charged me 20% more for each item. I brought the discrepancy to the associate and she refused to give me the difference. I told her that if she couldn't sell them for the displayed price, I wanted to return the items and just skip it. She refused to give my money back too.. Who does that??? Its their own fault. I left the items at the register and called my credit card company. Working on a chargeback now. Not a chance in hell I would ever recommend this business. Bottom Line: A souvenir and beach apparel shop that offers cheap stuff but the good kinda cheap stuff. As an East Coast girl I have been shopping at Wings forever during trip to the Atlantic Ocean. I was pleasently surprised to find that Wings has landed in California with a location in Ocean Beach and a location in Mission Beach. What a Wings goer needs to know is that this is where you go for cheap souveniors and dispsable stuff. For example, I love going here for postcards, souvenirs for the kiddos in my life and perhaps some salt water taffy for myself. If you are looking for something to accomodate your on your trip to the sand and sea, you will find everything here you need including towels, suits, cover ups, beach toys and rafts. They have stuff for late night too including beer bongs, fun flasks and playing cards. If you are searching for high end surf gear and popular brands like Billabong, this is not what you are going to find here. This is totally the place to go for generic screen print t-shirt and hermit crabs for the kids. The staff here was pleasent and I find the stuff/junk I was looking for so overall it was a good experience for me. read more

Great place for the ignorant tourist to go and spend money. People buying preserved sharks, blow-fish and alligator heads and saying they have wonderful memories of San Diego at home. As far as surf shops go, this one does not have an incredibly unique selection, but I like how store carries old school brands like bear reef and maui and sons. This location is a lot smaller than the OB shop, but Wings can always be counted on to carry plenty of surf, skate and snowboard accessories. That is the cool thing about this shop, it actually sells supplies for people who participate in those sports, not just for people who want to look like they do. read more

I love coming here for beachwear and souvenirs. With a Yelp checkin, you get a souvenir sand dollar! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Prices are super affordable, and the location is perfect, right in Belmont Park! Yes when we asked about some sweatshirts being marked 2 for 40 and others of the same brand marked 28 we were assisted by Winston. Whoever decided to put this rude condescending coke head in charge needs to re-examine the pool to choose from and make a better selection. I can't remember the last time I was treated so poorly. This store has it all for the beach goer! It was fun to walk around and see all that this place has from toys to clothes to hats to beach towels to magnets and touristy items! My kids loved the baby shark display and the alligator heads not to mention the coconut football piggy bank. I bought some $12.99 flip flops here that fell apart the first day! I returned them for an item of equal value and heard no apology. There was a female mannequin with a t-shirt on that had real-looking nipples painted on them and I told the cashier I found it offensive. The lady in line behind me said so, too. The young man behind the counter quickly said it was for breast cancer. "That's not what it says..." I said. My BS detector went off. So I saw a lot of JUNK in the store - poor quality souvenirs that make this place nothing more than a beach tourist trap and all they ever have is ONE cashier with other staff in the store milling around while the customer line gets longer and longer. Just about everytime I'm at mission beach, I have to come in here. I love this store! They usually have tons of sovenier options but this last time I went I noticed it was taken up by clothes.
