I recently separated employment and have 2 days to use my benefit, they squeezed me in for a hygiene appointment the same day! I can't say enough about how nice, professional, and accommodating the entire staff at Breeze Dental on South Lamar was. I had an urgent dental concern and was 2000 miles away from my dentist. They fit me in same day which was a great relief. Dr. Shafer and his assistant Felisa were very thorough, gentle, and patient in their evaluation and treatment explanation. The front desk was friendly. The hygienist was solid. But the dentist? A shadowy figure who swept in like a ghost, told me I needed a full set of fillings, then disappeared before I could even catch his name. Almost like he didn't want me to know it. Wonder why. I'm 25 and have never needed a filling in my life. Not one. Then I came here and was suddenly told I had seven "urgent" cavities and handed a treatment plan that sounded more like a sales pitch than medical advice. They even offered free teeth whitening to get me in the door, then refused to honor it unless I agreed to thousands of dollars in fillings. I got a second opinion from my trusted hometown dentist, who confirmed exactly what I suspected: no cavities. Just one small area to monitor, nothing that needed to be drilled or filled. The worst part is that I went to another one of these corporate private equity dental offices and the exact same thing happened again. It's a shame that people whose jobs are supposed to be about helping others live healthier, happier lives are knowingly trying to create lifelong dental issues just to milk more money out of patients. Please avoid these chains. Find a dentist who actually cares about preserving your natural enamel and long-term oral health, not one who sees your mouth as a way to pay off their BMW. This place is not a dentist office. Its an Invisalign sales floor. Every time I went there, they tried to sell me on Invisalign multiple times. I sat down and talked with them once and decided against it so they sent in the big guns (the dentist and closer apparently) who asked me why I was on the fence about it and what he could do to get me to commit. also, I had a crown put in and it was put in slightly crooked where at the top of the crown near my gums, you can see a small piece of my orginal tooth. I told the dentist Josh about it on my next visit and he said very defensive and rudely "I didnt put it in crooked. it looks fine to me". Once I was getting a cleaning and the doctor was supposed to come by to numb my mouth, which gives me anxiety, and after about 10 mins of waiting, the tech left to find him and came back 10 mins later with him. 20 mins of waiting laying upside down with anxiety about the shot gave me a panic attack. This was the final straw I have since left this place but have yet to see another dentist out of fear of having another panic attack read more

Everything from booking to staff to equipment to processes were all top notch. Staff was super nice, everyone. Like the people that work there actually enjoy their job. Made the experience super enjoyable. They have all of the newest equipment (coming from a former dentist that was more of a family practice and never upgraded their equipment, this was immensely appreciated). And their subscription program for 2 cleanings/checkups a year is great too (if you don't have insurance, I guess even if you do, it's affordable is what I'm saying). AC in Austin is cold. No problem! They have a blanket if you'd like it. You get sunglasses so that you don't get blinded by the light. Decent sunglasses too, if you want to take them home with you, just ask. They of course said yes! Want to pop on some music or something on Netflix with the mounted TV screens in the ceiling - go for it! Request something or they will just throw some nice nature scenery at you. And finally comes the 3D teeth scan. Not with that gross Play-Doh stuff, but just a modern machine that maps out your teeth in real time as they move it around your mouth. How cool and painless! Dental tech has come such a long way. I'm glad someone is upgrading. And for those reasons, my wife and I will be going back and telling all our family and friends. Speaking of which... They also have a referral program: not sure if they are going to like this (happy to remove it if not), but I suppose if you give them my name, they will give us both a $50 credit - a win-win! Breeze Oral Care - Getting my 3d scan of teeth with the machine - General Dentistry Near Me - Austin, Texas

I went into Breeze for a cleaning and checkup and was told I needed $1000+ and 3 appointments worth of fillings (they never told me how many cavities I had. Just "a bunch"), as well as all of my wisdom teeth removed (another $1000), and invasalign (I didn't even ask how much because at this point I couldn't even afford the fillings). Mind you, I have dental insurance so this is with my coverage. I got to my car and sobbed. I decided to go to another dentist and sent over the X Rays that breeze had taken. Turns out, I do have a few cavities and one wisdom tooth that should be removed. This will cost $390 TOTAL, for everything. I can't believe I almost spent over $2000 and countless hours of my time. Everyone in the office including the dentist was nice and polite. However, they purposefully obscure what you need so they can maximize their profits. I would go for a cleaning and nothing else. read more

I made an appointment here for a regular cleaning because my previous dental office stopped accepting my insurance. This was by far the worst dental experience I've had. All of the chairs are in an open, shared space. (no privacy) It makes me feel super uncomfortable that there are enlarged pictures of my mouth on the screen for everyone to see and other patients are walking by constantly. My experience with the hygienist was okay. The dentist I saw had such a huge ego which I found extremely annoying and then he tried to upsell me on everything. I go to the dentist regularly, had braces, wear retainer, no issues ever...and this guy was trying to convince me that I need Invisalign. If you're going to scam people into buying Invisalign, at least try it on someone who might be a potential candidate. My teeth are perfectly straight and aligned, does he think I'm an idiot? He then proceeded to tell me that my teeth are going to wear away if I don't get a custom made night guard. After an hour and a half (yes and hour and half appointment for a regular cleaning) I finally got out of there. They made me make another appointment before leaving which I canceled right when I got home. Will definitely not be returning here, I don't need a dentist who lies to you to try to sell products. read more

I should have guessed when they didn't even list their pricing for a cleaning that it was going to be more expensive than anywhere else I had looked. But whatever. The real issue I have is that I came for a cleaning. They took xrays and probed, etc. And then they told me I had gum disease and needed a $1K procedure and wouldn't do the cleaning. I sent all of the records to a second opinion who vehemently disagreed with them and said I was fine. This has been my new dentist since I moved to Austin. I had an amazing dentist growing up (enough that I continued to see him twice a year after moving seven hours away). Then when my parents moved away I finally got a dentist in Atlanta who was awful. That lasted one visit, and then I found another great dentist in Atlanta. I am really pleased that first time worked in Austin. Because of my one bad Atlanta experience I got a full exam, x-rays and everything before moving here and got the all-clear. Quickly made an appointment after moving, and if they suggested I had cavities to make them money I was going to be out so fast. They didn't. I've been back twice since, and still solid. They also have good service, TVs on the ceiling so you can watch while they clean your teeth, and it's just a good experience. I do think they lean ever so slightly towards encouraging purely cosmetic dentistry, but you can just say no thanks. I had braces and retainers for ages, and my teeth still look good. I don't yearn for Invisalign to remove a couple tiny gaps on the side. But hey, you might be into that, and they don't force the issue at all so it's also cool if you're not. read more

My wife and I had been going to Lydian for over 5 years, but both recently opted to find a new dental home. The docs and the cleaning staff were generally nice, but every visit was a constant upsell or issue. I just want my teeth cleaned and procedures done, i don't want a $80 toothbrush, whitening products, or the array of other tack on's presented to me as I sit in the dental chair by a dedicated sales person in the office. My last word of peace: I was there for an extra hour and a half beyond my appointment timeframe getting a crown because the assistant to the doc did not run the crown machine correctly. I'm all for teaching and training, but with an issue like that and no apology or "we'll make this right", it just all kind of added up for us. I always felt very safe and cared for by the dentists themselves, and if I'm basing it solely on them I'd be another star, but alas everything adds up and Lydian is a business with many parts. Many people love them and I understand why, just wasn't in the cards for us I suppose. read more

I believe like most humans, we have trust and loyalty issues - be it your doctor, barber, Asian convenience store, what have you! And obviously this review here points to a dentist being one of them. I had a really cool and dope dentist back in SoCal and I wrongfully neglected to switch here for two years during grad school. 1) because of cost as a grad student and 2) I was loyal to my dentist!! Nevertheless there are only so many biannual visits that you can pass before a sensibly hygienic person can forgo cleaning and other dental services. Once I got a full time job after grad school I searched high and low for a new dentist and came across Lydian Dental! Let me tell you - as a young professional trying to make his way up in his career, you want convenience, spice, and flavor under one roof - Lydian Dental nails it with a big ol hammer! I've only been going since around August 2019 and have had great experiences from calling in, emails, and obviously in office visits. I've gotten a couple cleanings so far and am currently on my 15/18 trays of Invisalign. ALL of the staff are bright, smart, and personable people that I've enjoyed having conversations with. And of course Dr. Josh has become the dentist I'm extremely happy to have. The photos describe the place real well so please check them out! My favorite part of the office are the wallpapers that have toothpaste patterns that look like bacon from afar. In any case, if you need cleanings and teeth refinement this is your spot. They talked me through ever process and explained to me why my gums were bad or how Invisalign would straighten back my teeth (which damn they look good so far). I am so surprised by the negative reviews here. A friend recommended Breeze and boy am I glad he did. I am SO stoked to have found Breeze. (Lydian now known as Breeze.) I hate going to the dentist. It's never fun, even if you never have cavities like me. The layout and atmosphere is amazing - it's a dentist office made for instagram, if such a thing exists. The staff was super efficient - the dentist (Dr. Siraj) welcomed me right away, then handed me off to a tech for all my scans (they have all the latest tech which is great) and then immediately went into the clean. Love that I could watch netflix. Dr. Siraj was there right after the clean was complete to do an examination. I appreciated that he identified spots to watch but didn't recommend treatment yet. Also, I love that I can easily book appointments online. So to recap: easy booking online, beautiful office, kind and efficient service, awesome tech, and great dentist. A+ all around. read more

Don't let the tech savvy site and patient form fool you, this team does NOT have their act together. They are all siloed: techs only do tech things, your hygienist only cleans, etc. I was initially helped quickly, scans done (even a worthless one in case I wanted to get braces as 45) and then wait for another hour before I began wandering and asking the receptionists and someone else sitting around when i would be helped. During this time, 3 men of varied colors were helped (cleaned) individually. The hygienist acted put out that I thought 40 minutes was too long of a wait. Then she started working and her tools or the electric in the area was malfunctioning. I walked out! The dentist/ owner texted and called me, saying that they love giving me good experiences and this is not their MO. She then proceeded to offer me a worthless teeth whitening (valued at $485) but not to cover my fillings. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! read more

Well, where do I start? First, I was having a chipped tooth repaired. The dental assistant didn't numb my mouth correctly so that I could feel the pain medication injections, it was very painful. I have never feared dentist, but now I understand why people do. During the whole procedure the dentist was talking to the dental assistant about programming a smart watch and other small talk. It made me feel like I wasn't important and I found that behavior very unprofessional. When the procedure was completed the dentist made very little eye contact with me, he was staring at the dental assistant. I left the office feeling awful. Second, I was given a quote for my procedure. I had several weeks before my scheduled procedure. During this time the office neglected to tell me that my insurance didn't cover all of my procedure. I find out after the fact that I owe $530! I definitely won't be returning to Lydian, what an overall horrible experience. read more

Dr Josh was great at explaining my options and working with me to come up with the best treatment options. Once the plan was in place, Dr Josh promptly went to work. During the procedure, he and his assistance took great care to insure I was not in any pain, which I was not and made the process as comforting as possible. I was very pleased with their work! Absolutely loved this dentist. This dentist, specifically dr josh, were recommended to my by two friends so I felt safer going here as opposed to some place I'd be choosing off of Yelp reviews. Key things that made me love them were that they were transparent with pricing, explained everything that they were doing and why which was really important to me because I haven't been in 4+ years so I had completely forgotten what was going on, and I loved that they have a membership program. I have health insurance but my dental doesn't kick in for months and after my friends started sharing some root canal horror stories, I felt like I needed to go ASAP. The online booking system was easy, buying the membership online was easy, and it was fantastic. The only thing I would say that maybe me uneasy at first was that when I called to ask about the membership (if I should buy it now and then book or purchase it the day of my appointment) the person I talked to on the phone said she had no idea, put me on a brief hold to find her manager and then got back on to say she couldn't find her manager and is there anything else she could help with. But she was really sweet about the not knowing so I still gave it a go and I'm glad I did! Amazing service from start to finish. It's weird but I can't wait to go back for my little fillings and Invisalign consult! Also, my dental tech Shannon was SOOO sweet. Made me feel totally safe and I'm good hands! This place tried to scam me by telling me I needed $1500 worth of dental work when my last dentist told me my teeth were fine. The oddest part was at the end of my appointment they told me that they would call me back about treatment and then they just never did. Clearly something shady was going on. First, all COVID procedures were followed. They made sure to check my stats and it looked like everyone was double masked (I'm sure it sucks to breath like that). They were extra careful in their steps for my safety and theirs. My appointment: Painless in every way. My hygienist, Krystal, was a complete badass! The staff here are friendly and the office is very nice and clean! I really enjoy having my teeth cleaned here. However, I have had issues with a lack of communication and scheduling problems. On multiple occasions I have been called well after booking an appointment (I booked once online, but mostly I book in office after a previous appointment) to reschedule because the provider would not be in at that time. I understand the staff are human and their schedules change, but it is frustrating to adjust my work schedule around an appointment just to have to readjust it for a new appointment that was not my doing in the first place. Especially when it happens more than once. Additionally, I am an Invisalign patient and on multiple occasions my aligners have arrived and I was not contacted even though I was told I would receive a call to schedule an appointment when my aligners arrived. This in turn has delayed my treatment by several weeks in total. Usually I have to call after several weeks to have someone check if they arrived and am told they are in the back and must have been missed. There was one appointment where I was scheduled to get my attachments removed, waited in the chair for an hour because the previous appointment ran very late, and ended up seeing the orthodontist for literally 3 minutes because it was decided I needed a refinement period. I do not mind the extended treatment course... I actually expected it. But to take the time out of my day to come down for an appointment that consisted of an hour of waiting and such a short treatment time was frustrating. Overall, I like this office and I love the staff, I just wish the appointments were more reliable and the communication was way more consistent. read more

I've been going to Lydian Dental since they first opened. As with a lot of people, I typically hate going to the dentist. The staff at Lydian makes my appointments bearable and as pleasant as a dental visit could possibly be. They're all super friendly and genuinely nice people. And they really take their time to thoroughly examine and treat you, as well as educate you on your dental health. Their quality of work has always been great! Also, their office has all new, updated tech, is sparkling clean and has a super cute, instaworthy aesthetic to it. Anyway, if you hate going to the dentist, I definitely recommend this office. At first I decided I'd make my own decision about this place before listening to the bad reviews here, but I honestly should have. Something shady is going on here. I had to put a deposit down at my first appointment which is completely unheard of and was an immediate red flag- I should've walked out then but I didn't. I never saw the same hygienist or dentist. Josh tried to sell me a mouth guard and I never grind my teeth, plus I could easily buy one at cvs for 1/12 the cost. I got two fillings replaced here and one of them shaved down my tooth too far so now my upper right side doesn't fit right in the bottom teeth when my mouth closes. I have felt judged by two of the three hygienists I've seen here. The first one scheduled my next cleaning and said she would be on vacation for the appt date so she couldn't do it- ok fine I'll see someone else... the next appt she was there working on someone else. I thought this was rude. The nail in the coffin was when I went for a cleaning about two weeks ago after being told they were dropping my insurance. I was willing to pay out of pocket for a cleaning but I refused x-rays as I'm well aware I have the right to and they refused to do my cleaning so I left. They said "it'll only be $220 out of pocket today" as if I shit dollar bills. Avoid this place if you can. I promise I gave them plenty of chances. read more

I used to love this dental office. Any time anyone would ask for a recommendation for a dentist, I was quick to tell them about Lydian, and all the ways that made them great. I would go into great detail about all the things I appreciated and liked (great front office, a dental hygienist that was both nice and great at what she did, appointments seem on time, easy parking, etc.) This dental office used to have a comfortable, friendly environment - no small task for a dentist. It's a shame this is no longer the case. I went for my third cleaning with Lydian last month. During the one appointment, they asked me if I wanted Invisalign FOUR times. I don't understand why they kept pushing the issue. How many times does a patient have to say NO?! And I didn't give wishy washy answers, or hint that I was interested. Each time I would give a hard no. "No thanks, I'm not interested." A few moments later, "No, I'm good. I really don't want or need braces." Later on, "Really, I DONT WANT Invisalign." And again, ""No - I DO NOT want Invisalign." And to give some background, I have never had braces or retainers, and have straight teeth. Not a single dentist has EVER asked me about any type of teeth straightening before. And the same goes for my other two visits with Lydian. I've even had a previous dentist comment on how naturally straight my teeth are. But somehow at this visit, they felt it necessary to ask me about Invisalign FOUR separate times, which made the entire experience just extremely awkward and off-putting. It also made it pretty clear that I didn't matter as all as a customer, and all they wanted from me was my money. Today I went to get a few cavities filled. I found it extremely uncomfortable that the dentist kept touching me. A casual shoulder touch here, an arm caress there. And I assume he did the previously mentioned touches unintentionally, so even though they made me uncomfortable, I don't hold those against him. But then he demand a high five at the end of our appointment, which I did not give. I told him I didn't like being touched, and would really rather not unless I HAD to. We ended up having a conversation about it, and I reiterated that it wasn't personal, I just don't like touching strangers. But somehow after all that, he still wanted at least a fist bump. So after an entire conversation about me not liking to touch strangers, I had to stroke my dentist's ego and give in to a fist bump to appease him. If you're someone who's super casual about hugs and touching in general, this might sound like a trivial thing. But please respect people's boundaries! If someone says they don't want to be touched, don't touch them! It doesn't matter how it makes you feel. No means no! Especially at a professional and medical setting like this, conversations regarding touching shouldn't even have to happen! I realize I've used the term "uncomfortable" at least half a dozen times during this review, but that's because that's exactly how I felt, and there's really no nicer way to say it. The front office staff is still generally nice, and compared to other dental offices, tremendously friendlier and more helpful. And they still have easy parking. So for those things, they still get 2 stars. read more

I absolutely hate going to the dentist. That said, I just had the best experience EVER going here for a cleaning, exam and X-rays. It felt more like a spa session than a dental visit. The office is new, calming and clean. The two receptionists were friendly and overall great at their jobs. I spent most of my time with the hygienist, Josh, and he was thoughtful, listened to ALL my concerns, I never felt our time was rushed and he was gentle with my cleaning. The tools they used are the newest technology. I don't want to ruin the surprise of all the great stuff they have but for x-rays (my least favorite part of the process) they don't use those painful foldable teeth cards that cut into your gums. They use a piece of plastic that's curved at the edges and it's a lot more pleasant. They have a screen in front of you to show you in great detail photos and x rays of your teeth. Josh pointed out every concern/ problems. I'm definitely coming back for any future cleanings/exams and for Invisalign and teeth whitening. My only criticism is that their orthodontist is only available once a month. read more

Where do I start? Here it goes.. 1- they were quick to take $150 deposit once I booked an appointment 2- they canceled/ moved my appointment twice 3- I went in for an onlay, then they changed it to a crown last minute once they started the process. The dental assistant was clearly very new/ not trained properly and I did not feel comfortable 4- the molding machine stopped working and they wanted to put a temporary crown which I said no to 5- I waited 20-30 min or so and the machine started working again and the dentist was extremely rushed and carless during the procedure. He didn't ask once how I felt about the crown but kept shaving. *** he decided to shave about 60% off my top molar in order to make room for the crown*** I asked and he said he didn't want to hit the nerve in the crown which was odd because there was clearly plenty of room to shave it down. He continued to proceed in a rushed manner and I left feeling uncomfortable and knowing that the crown still needed to be trimmed down (which I had mentioned but he said some of it was normal). I had tot elk him what I felt and honestly I'm not even sure he listened / cared. I went back for him to fix it and he somewhat did but not quite. I'm going back on Monday for one last time and will literally never step foot in this place again. I'm not a dentist but have enough common sense to know that shaving my original tooth before shaving the actual crown is not ideal. I recognize there may be some adjustment required but the amount of constant carelessness and lack of detail is unsafe and I will likely need a crown in that other tooth in the near future thanks to his incompetence. read more

I recently had to switch dentists due to a change in insurance. I found Lydian through my insurance company, and called to make an appointment to repair a chipped tooth. They were so kind on the phone and made me an appointment for the following morning, which was amazing on its own! The office is BEAUTIFUL and does not feel like a dentist's office. It is comfortable, clean, and home-like. Dr. Salehi was quick and efficient in filling my chipped tooth, and did a beautiful job - you cannot tell at all that it's been filled! I'm so happy to have found this office, and I'm actually looking forward to going back for a cleaning! read more
