Every time we are in the area we stop in. On this visit we met Katy Mattice, who's medium is fused glass. What made the visit special is the we learned about the fuse glass process, which is much more complicated than I would ever have imagined. If you are are Corey Ave., you owe it to yourself to stop in the Vincent William Gallery. Gallery Hours are Monday through Saturday 10am - 5pm, Closed Sunday.

I read about this gallery in one of the magazines that I had ordered prior to our trip to the St. Pete Beach area. I was really excited to hit up some of the places on Corrie Ave. Vincent was not at all overbearing and allowed me to take my time and walk around the store. He specializes in a handful of local artists and has the art displayed in a way that allows you to see it all. I ended up buying 3 items and had Vincent ship it back to CT for me. If you like art, even if you're not an expert (as I am not), I would highly recommend popping into this gallery. It's well worth the trip.

The selections in the exhibition are beautiful. Each one is surprisingly more beautiful and different than the next one. The service in the gift shop where you purchase your ticket is especially great. You can ask questions and receive polite answers. I really enjoyed my visit. Don't forget to watch the live glass demonstration across the street at the Morean Arts center. Tips are appreciated.

The walls were covered with the art of approximately 20 different artist in many different mediums. From photo to photo-realism, pontilism and ceramics, there were so many different styles offered. One of the most unique ones I remember is the woman who painted with invisible (black light visible) ink. For the most part the paintings looked one way, but if you shined a black light on them, they came to life with another dimension. Yes, I made a purchase, a pen and ink drawing, simple pointillisim work on white. Absolutely stunning and very inexpensive.

It's more of an art shop or boutique than art gallery I think. It's owned by the incredibly talented local artist Chad Mize, and run by artists whose work is available in store for purchase. Great spot to pick up holiday presents. One of my favorite St. Pete. artists, Calan Ree, had a whole little display. The entire shop was filled with cool and unique offerings from multiple different artists. I'm still kicking myself I didn't buy the two-headed gingerbread ornament or the sparkly embellished Taco Bell hot sauce packet ornament.

I had never heard of the Mize Gallery before but that made it even better, a new local business and SHINE artwork. I wasn't sure what to expect because I didn't look up anything on the exhibit. When I got there I was surprised to see that all the pieces of art where circular, I was expecting bigger or more like a mural. Each artist was given the circular canvas to told to make whatever they wanted. The exhibit was all artists, not just specific SHINE artists, which was awesome. All of them were so different and wonderful. I actually walked around the gallery twice. While I was there, one of the artist came in as her piece had already sold. I spoke with her briefly and she was the artist of the piece that I actually loved the most. It was really great to see so many of the pieces marked as sold already, not for me though. LOL. Both artist and Chad were super nice and invited me to an opening the following week but unfortunately I wasn't able to attend. The gallery is worth checking out for the different exhibits that they will have and supporting the artists!

Her art is unforgettable, elegant, wonderful and thoughtful. If I had the means, I would fill my home with art by June Harben. I would tell the world about her. I would invite everyone interested in art to come and view her work and the works of the other fine artists featured at Gallery 1356. This place has so enriched our lives and our community.

As we were leaving the market, we passed by the store a second time. The merchandise in the windows looked cute, so we popped in. Wow! I was surprised at how big the store was. There were so many rooms! With so much merchandise. And it wasn't tacky souvenir type merchandise. This was really cool home decor, gifts, jewelry, art, and furniture -- all with a beach theme. If you're looking for nice, beach-themed merchandise, this is the place to go. You could decorate and furnish your entire beach house with this store's inventory. Super impressive! A++++!
