You may be reading this and thinking this is hyperbole but we brought him in after a speech regression and had our expectations very low. We were expecting a handful of words. After the first speech block he did, we saw miraculous results--phrases and songs and the like. Serious grab the Kleenex stuff. Since then, we have only seen greater milestones passed, funny moments of commenting and describing, and challenging of our son that shows they get him and know what he can say and do. If you have had your kiddo see a speech therapist you know what that means. If you want to engage speech therapists for your child--of any age--from whom you will see significant results and who are smart and tailored in their approach to cracking the code of how your kid operates, look no more. Highest recommendation.

Promised us he would have a couple of words at the conclusion of the therapy. We tried. And failed. Sweeney and Augustin is considered out of network and while they charged us 6K the insurance only counted 1200. Worse, it was considered out of network so even the 1200 simply went against the out of network deductible. This should have been avoided by doing a pre-authorization but something they didn't offer or encourage. They overpromised, hugely overcharged and didn't deliver.

UPDATE: We decided it was in my grandmas best interest to…read morestart In home hospice care. We found these soars on her neck from being neglected for over a month. My grandma suffered a stroke in October, survived many complications and is now at this nursing home. Due to the COVID-19, on March 11th they restricted all visitations for the safety of their patients (understandable). It has now been over a month since she has seen anyone in our family. Thursday afternoon, we received a heartbreaking call informing us that she hadn't been responsive in days, her vitals are low and we should say our final goodbyes.. could be a couple hours or days. As we all rushed over there, they refused to let us in to see her. Today, we gave the receptionist an iPad and asked that she'd set it up in my grandmas room. The iPad is set to automatically pick up FaceTime calls. Can't see her in person, at least we can see her, talk to her and let her know how much we love her through FaceTime. Hours later, in the middle of a FaceTime, one of the nurses comes into my grandmas room hangs up and closes the IPad case. Now we really can't see my grandma and she can't see us. We call, asked that it would be put back up and they refused. Said it was just temporary. We asked, are the residents not allowed to use cell phones? All other hospitals and nursing homes are allowing family members to call their loved ones. In fact, it is encouraged by primary care physicians!! The nurse, said oh they are allowed cell phones. But you cannot record her or our nurses. We explained that it is set like a phone, please this is all we have. She said, this is our policy you can call the director on Monday and then hangs up in our face. It is Easter, my grandma's favorite holiday, she is not promised an hour let alone until Monday. You must have no heart at all to strip away our rights and my grandmas rights at her last final stages of life. This has taken a toll on our entire family. This is an awful place. With some, not all, but some of the most heartless people working there. If you love your family members, do not bring them here.

We have the pleasure of having Angie as our son's speech therapist. We love Angie. Zev had a…read morespeech therapist for about 5 months before her, and then we got Angie right after he turned 2. At that point he wasn't even saying 10 words, and we weren't sure if he really understood anything we were saying. I remember pretty clearly our second session with Angie where I was tickling Zev. He was clearly enjoying himself and would take my hands to tickle him more. And Angie just told me to wait the next time he wanted to be tickled, and I waited with my hands in tickle position for what seemed to be forever (was probably more like 15 to 20 seconds) and sure enough Zev looks at me and said "tickles". What a moment. Now we are about 8 months later and Zev's 10 word vocabulary is around 200 words. Angie does much more than work with Zev, she works with me. She gives me tips and strategies so I can work with him since I'm the one who spends so much time with him. Not only is she great as far as her knowledge and skill set, but also her caring, professionalism and flexibility. If we've had anything in our schedule come up or a holiday or whatever it is, she's always helped us find a way/time to get each and every session in, that we have never had to miss one. What really impresses me about Chicago Pediatric Therapy Group is that they meet as a team to talk about their kids. Zev had sensory issues that needed to be worked through to get the most out of his therapy sessions. Angie would mention that when they meet at her office, she'll often bring up Zev to an OT and get their thoughts and there is collaboration within their group to think of an all-around approach to each child (I'm assuming it's not just my child).

We have been going to NSPT for 2 years now for our 5 year old nonverbal son for Speech & OT. Preauthorizations weren't obtained for 1 month worth of services. We were never made aware of this situation and when we were billed for 1,600 for private pay sessions the woman I spoke to repeatedly cut me off when trying to ask questions, on more than one occasion she told me it was "My responsibility" to know that services were not being covered. I spent HOURS on the phone with insurance, and when being told by BCBS multiple times that claims were never submitted on their end I circled back with the billing dept of NSPT and gave them reference #'s, as well as a call back number to work alongside the woman Ive been working with at BCBS to get this issue resolved - I could not of made it easier. The staff called ONCE, emailed me and told me there was no answer, then proceeded to tell me that our card will be getting charged the FULL AMOUNT this upcoming Monday for those sessions.I am appalled, and absolutely disgusted with how they have handled this matter.....this is personal because no one talks about how much being a special needs family we silently suffer being catapulted into this life of turmoil navigating such difficult obstacles with our children let alone the HARDSHIPS we endure financially getting them the services they rightfully deserve. The treatment we received from Rachel, and Monica has been so impactful for our son and I will miss that most for him......They have been wonderful. However this company needs to make a huge shift in how their billing department is ran, and I hope they know they have not heard the last of me.

Chips Cheese…read more Alex is not only a great speech pathologist, but a wonderful person all around. Throughout my life, I felt like I my communication or speech was a little off. As an adult, I felt it was time I could take charge of that. Alex was able to assess, work with me, and give me the tools I need to articulate in a clearer way. More specifically, Alex helped with a little bit of a lisp issue, breath support, and fluency. I believe this will help me be a better communicator in my career and in life. More over, I know that Alex will be supportive if I ever feel the need for check-ins or additional support. Thank you Alex!

His patience was short, which made communication tough. He also had delays with motor skills. He could hold utensils and knew they were for eating--he would bring them to his mouth--but he wasn't able to hold them strongly or in the correct way. After months of practice and support, he's now using utensils just fine, and I'm so proud of how far he's come. He began receiving Speech Therapy-Grace, Occupational Therapy-Madelyn, and Developmental Therapy-Shirley once a week. After 8 months of consistent therapy, the progress has been incredible. Lino is now able to make sentences, loves to sing, and can clearly say what he wants. His play skills have also grown--he enjoys playing with others and now involves people around him, which has been wonderful to see. We are especially grateful to his therapist, who has shown how much they truly care about Lino. The patience, dedication, and encouragement they've given him (and us as parents) mean so much. They don't just teach--they celebrate every small win with us, and that has made all the difference. Looking back, it's amazing to see how much progress he has made, and we are deeply thankful for the team who has supported him every step of the way.
