Solid coffee house! After reading the other reviews I went and asked for a "large cappuccino" just to give them a good laugh. We run a mobile coffee business, so seeing some of the reviews that said they were "disappointed" that they couldn't get a large cappuccino or that macchiato would be a small drink is frustrating. Starbucks has ruined the coffee experience for majority of people. Espresso drinks are made with specific ratios of milk to espresso so making something a "large" that's designed to be a 6 ounce drink, doesn't work unless you want to pay extra for extra shots. I wish people knew what they were ordering before giving a coffee house a 4/5 starts. *Sigh*. We got a brown honey/hazelnut latte and brown sugar cardamom latte. We make all our own syrups for our coffee trailer so we're bougie. I like the sweetness of the honey/hazelnut but couldn't really taste the hazelnut. The cardamom latte had an interesting savory component that I wasn't a super fan of, but overall, good coffee! read more

My friend and I stopped in here after a hike to get some caffeine. I love me a dirty chai and when I saw the plethora of options and the fact that they call themselves a chai house, I was excited! My friend ordered a hot dirty chai and I got the iced. They were very busy, given the holiday weekend so it took almost 15 minutes by the way. When they finally called the drinks out, they had only made mine a dirty chai, so they had to add espresso to hers. Fine. I was excited to drink it but both my friend and I took a sip and made the same exact disgusted face. There was nothing redeeming about the drink, and it tasted like chalk. The stars for this place were for the scone, which was delicious. That said, the chai was awful and I wouldn't recommend. read more

As we were walking around downtown we wanted to grab coffee and saw Brew Bakers. When we walked in we were greeted and checked out the menu. The vibe was very chill and quaint. We had just had breakfast not too long ago or we would've tried there food which looked delicious. My husband ordered a Bulletproof Americano and I ordered an iced black and white. Brew Baker's Coffee and Tea shop is a cute little place off of the main drag in Grass Valley. It's a be very chill cafe with some small seating inside. They serve a variety of coffee drinks and pasties. We ordered chai lattes, banana bread and a donut. All of these were delicious. The service was friendly and speedy. Small shop right on the main drag of a tiny town... cozy, local, and clearly proud of their coffee game. Plenty of options to get your daily caffeine fix, though apparently the "rules" forbid large cappuccinos. I'm no theologian, but I must've missed the verse in the coffee bible that says "thou shalt not grande size thy cappuccino." After a little negotiation, the crew humored me with a larger cup filled some espresso, and some foam... and we all agreed to never speak the "C" word again. Also grabbed a cream cheese pumpkin muffin that was moist in all the right places and absolutely delicious. Overall, great little stop... just maybe don't mention cappuccinos unless you want to start a theological debate. read more

My husband and I went there this morning. We were greeted by the sweetest kid at the door and he took our order. He ordered a mocha and I got an ube cinnamon latte. He normally gets a caramel macchiato wherever he goes but was told that it would be a small size he wasn't too pleased about that. When we were also ordering we wanted something baked to eat but all they had were blueberry muffins. It was quite disappointing to see the lack of selection. He said that his mocha lacked flavor which he was upset about. My drink however, was amazing and full of flavor. I'm thinking that maybe the next time we try it out as I'd love to try it again that we show up a little later. read more

Amazing coffee/latte's etc. it's a Super small and always packed. They also have organic scratch made pastries and breakfast items. Not a big selection, but what they do make they have perfected!! Legit had the best muffin today (blackberry/raspberry)!!! It was so flavorful and not insanely heavy either along with being far from dry! I took that one to go and had an iced dirty chai latte with a bacon egg cup. The egg cups are super yummy especially with some local hot sauce they provide. As for coffee and baked goods, no place compares except for Corvus but they're closed right now. They serve exceptionally good coffee. And their baked goods are the best. Their scones in particular. The only reason I give four stars is because of the art on the walls. It's disturbing. for a long time they had a big painting up that was incredibly disturbing of animals and some kind of massacre with blood everywhere. Currently the artwork is very much like drugs and death. Lots of skulls and lots of really creepy stuff on the walls. I actually won't bring my daughter in here because of the art. I don't even like to sit in the coffee shop and enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry because I feel uncomfortable due to the art on the walls. I know it's a personal preference of the owners, but it really bothers me and I wish that they would put things up that were more calming and relaxing. I'll still come in because of the amazing baked goods and friendly staff and fantastic coffee. read more

It's easy to walk by Brew Bakers without noticing it. Don't let its low profile fool you. I love this place. The beans are from award-winning Temple Coffee in Sacramento. The coffee is good, but what really pulls me in are the baked goods. They're all made onsite, and it's easy to get something hot out of the oven. It may look like a typical coffee shop, but it's really a bakery and everything is homemade. I think the owners even made some of the furniture. My favorites: the almond bars, pie bars, blueberry coffee cake, the "chicken bake", black & white cookies, plain chocolate sheet cake, and seven layer bars. They specialize in baked goods a typical American would make at home, but made quite well. Oh, and the brioche on weekends is very good. They also usually have scones, muffins, and cupcakes. On special occasions, they have a Russian honey cake with about 15 thin layers. Worth trying. They love taking special orders too. My ideas for this place: * Emphasize that everything is baked onsite. Most coffee shops just buy wholesale from industrial bakeries. * Put baked goods in the window. Even fake baked goods would suffice. That way passers-by will know what the shop is all about. * Give samples to passers-by * Label all the baked goods * It's easy to overlook items in the refrigerated case * Rename it "Brew Bakers Bakery and Cafe". People need to know it's a bakery. * Put tables & chairs on the sidewalk. * Owners and friends could sit at the tables in the main part of the shop rather than in the kitchen in the back. This creates an inviting atmosphere. * Mix up the Pandora station every so often. read more

They're friendly, fast, and the ambiance is immaculate. My go-to place for a matcha or a chai. It's a bit of a hole in the wall like most places in GV, but search it out and you won't be disappointed. Plus it's a cozy place to work. It's one of the few places in town that's open this early.
