Just ordered here maybe 30 min before posting this post. Let's talk about how my boyfriend called twice and they didn't answer their phone. So I called in and they answered, I requested takeout and the host said they do not offer takeout because their kitchen was backed up. So my boyfriend goes to the place and the restaurant was NOT BUSY AT ALL. So they blatantly lied. The manager was walking around saying out loud "I hope people come in. I can't wait for this place to get busy again." Not one staff member was wearing masks, so of course they aren't worried about Covid. Which makes sense for them to deny takeout orders because they rather people come in. We ordered the Morning Power which is suppose to have a 3 egg White omelette...this food was flavorless. I know for sure they used two eggs and definitely decided to keep the yolk in the egg. Omelet was raggedy. It was as if they just slopped the ingredients together and threw two eggs on top. Because it definitely wasn't wrapped like an omelette. Waffles was soggy, no kind of flavor...it was like eating a soggy cardboard. read more

Really bad food, and lack of hygiene. Ordered a flat white and it was unlike any other flat white Ive had - watered down and flavorless. The mexican brunch platter was tasteless and portions too small. To top it all off, the cutlery was dirty and looked it hadnt been washed. read more

A few blocks from the train station, it was a busy place for people getting lunch. I thought it was only a coffee place but I had a BLT (hard to screw up) and my buddy had an omelette - also pretty straight forward. We sat outside which I recommend if weather permits. read more

Visited Brewed Awakening in Metuchen with a few girlfriends, and we absolutely loved it! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Belen, who was incredibly sweet and welcoming. Her recommendations for both food and drinks were spot-on--everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service made us feel right at home. We loved it so much, we went back two days later for breakfast--and to our delight, Belen remembered us and welcomed us back with the same warmth that made us smile the first time. My friend and I went to Brewed Awakening for breakfast. We read amazing reviews online and the aesthetics pictures grew my interest. I ordered the tofu scramble and my friend ordered the red velvet pancakes. I was very disappointed when I received my plate. There were barely 7-8 pieces of diced tofu, not the scramble, mixed with cubed potatoes. There was no flavor. The salad or spring mix on the side was disappointing as well. The red velvet pancakes were bland and thin. However, the hazelnut hot chocolate was phenomenal; thick and perfectly sweet. read more

This place is situated in a cute little town. When I first walked in I was shocked at how big and cozy the place is. It has a beautiful mural on the right wall and then a counter set up on the left. Immediately I was greeted and offered a place to sit. The waitress was funny with sarcasm. I got the vanilla almond chai tea and my friend got the cappuccino. I then ordered the French toast with turkey bacon and scrambled eggs. It was enough for me to have some for breakfast tomorrow. The French toast were perfectly moist, not dry but not soppy. My friend got an omelet and some potatoes and toast. We both felt our food was absolutely delicious. It was my first time going there. My friend said she had been there many years ago and it's as if they haven't changed a thing. They only have increased the food they offer. I will be back! read more

Really subpar. $15 for eggs Benedict and the egg whites were hard and the yolk completely cooked through. $4 for coffee served in a giant mug and they never came around to top it off so it got cold fast. $15 for a Mexican burrito and the chorizo was just meh. Had to wait for the food as well on a Saturday at 2pm, noticed a table that was sat after us got their food before us. Don't recommend and won't be coming back. read more

I go to Brewed Awakening regularly. It's one of our favorite spots! The coffee shop has nice ambience and the wait staff is always friendly and attentive. They have a great variety of coffees and teas. I don't drink coffee so I opt for other options. I've recently become a big fan of their Chai tea--both iced and hot! Their food is excellent and have options for every dietary restriction. I eat a plant-based diet. It's really nice (and rare) to have a variety of vegan options! The owner often comes around to see how everyone is doing, too. I recommend highly! read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! First off, the place was dirty! Flys we're flying all over making it hard to eat our food.. and they only had ONE server on a Sunday morning!! The server wasn't even dressed appropriately and was in basketball shorts. It took ten minutes for our order to get taken and then about 15 more minutes to get our food. We haven't even received our drinks yet when the food came to the table...we got our drinks AFTER we finished our meals!!! (and the drinks were so terrible we had to ask for them off our bill) I wish I were joking. They literally served other table drinks before us so needless to say this place is disastrous and an EASY PASS! Update: The business owner sent me a 'compliment' on my review saying that she doesn't want me back either after a 'hellish weekend' and is 'too exhausted' to explain or apologize lol. I think you need to change industries because customer service just doesn't seem like it's for you. Sadly, I'm not a fan of Brewed Awakening. My husband, son, and I dined here on Sunday because we wanted to try something new in the area. Upon arriving, we were greeted and sat at a table almost instantly. Cool. After that, I don't know what happened to the service. It was practically nonexistent. It took about 15 minutes for someone to come and take our drink order ( I had to haul down service to ask if anyone would take care of us). After finally getting someone to take our order, he said he'd only be taking our drink order now but knowing how long that took, I quickly insisted we order at that moment too! I ordered the mango smoothie, which was the highlight of my visit- it was good! I also had the huevos rancheros, but sadly I wasn't a fan. I think where they went wrong on that is using a quesadilla shell. The home fries also had a pretty weird taste. Despite my meal, my husband said his breakfast was decent. Based on the lack of service and my meal, I wouldn't be back. read more

Pretty disappointed with this place. I realized that this place was right across from my everyday coffee shop so I figured I would give it a try. I ordered a medium americano and a sausage and egg sandwich and it came up to almost $14!! That was the first shocker but nonetheless, the services was subpar and they looked very unorganized. While I was waiting for my order, a gentleman came in and ordered a large black coffee and a ham and egg sandwich and all of a sudden I hear him say, "$15, what the heck did I order for $15!!" I looked at him and gave him the "I know" face. Let's just say, this place was a one and done for me. read more

Listen, i am not one to complain trust me. I know how hard these people work in the food industry especially my sister who works in one herself. Anyways, ordered through UberEats delivery. Food comes, we're missing 1 item. I called and they said they would make it since it was a mistake on their end. Cool. I pick up the missing item. No problem. Get home my sister eats it and finds a WHOLE order ticket in her Huevos Rancheros. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. It honestly looks like it was neatly placed there on purpose (sick joke). We drive back and ask to see the manager. She told us to get our refund through Uber. It's unfortunate because I've ordered here before and enjoyed it but we won't be back. Brewed awakening turned out to be a rude awakening. This was gods way of saying to stop being lazy and cook your damn self read more

Let me go through a few aspects to explain why I gave this place 3 starts, the good and the bad: Location: The location is prime, a few minutes away from the train station - you can easily walk it. There is also plenty of parking around the area, metered but free on Sunday. The wait: For a table for 5 on a Sunday afternoon around 12, there was no wait. The drinks: I ordered the mocha caramel chiller, which I really enjoyed. It was kind of like a frappe, kind of sweet but not too sweet. It tasted very chocolately more than mocha-y - but I am a true chocolate lover so I did not mind at all. It comes in a cute mason jar and it's topped with whipped cream (which was not listed on the menu). I didn't mind it but if you don't like it I would ask for it to not be on there. Few of my friends got the strawberry banana and mango smoothies, which they also enjoyed, thought was refreshing but everything is definitely on the sweeter end. Each one was like $5.50 The food: I got the La Mexicana without the chorizo and it was yummmmyyyy - totally hit the spot. It's basically like two tacos. On two flour tortillas you have black beans, Mexican three cheese, guacamole, tomato, scrambles eggs, salsa, and sour cream - it's super yummy and it's warm. Honestly, I thought the portion was kind of small, I was still a little hungry after it but I think I just had a pretty big appetite that day (lol) now that I think about it, it was a decent portion. I was not a fan of the home fries tho - they're like soft potatoes, clearly fried but not crispy and something about the seasoning was just off. They did taste fresh and were really hot - so if you like the flavor, maybe you will like it more than I did. But, nonetheless, I was happy with the meal. It was around $13. Ambiance and service: not the best. The table and seats were sticky. There were small knat type bugs flying around the area. And the service was ridiculously slow. It took us half an hour to just get water, after asking for it like 3 times. The food came decently fast after giving the order but one of my friends ordered home fries as a side, which we never got. A few of us also asked for chipotle mayo on the side and never got it. It seemed like the servers were spread thin at first, so we were open to cutting them some slack, but even after the place emptied out, no one came in to check on us. They barely came to drop off the food and drinks and water ONE TIME. We even had to get up to pay the check because we were sitting there for half an hour after we all finished eating. Overall, if you're ordering from here, GET TAKE OUT. I didn't have a problem at all with the food, in fact I really enjoyed it. It just wasn't a good dining experience due to the other factors. I know they're a small business and I hate to leave an OK review. But I do encourage you to try the take out! Food-wise, they were great. read more

The spot is quaint. Came here for brunch with a couple of friends- table of 3. We went up to the front a total of 4 times throughout our time there to ask for assistance in getting our order taken, to get some service and asking when our food would be ready. The first time we were seated (area in the back where it's kind of easy to get forgotten about) we waited 20mins for any service. We ended up going up to request a waiter to take our order, then another 15 mins later someone came after our order was placed we waited about 20mins before we went up again to ask when the food would be ready, we were served about 10mins after that. Food was cold, but tasty. The hot sauce is home made and quite good. Not sure if the wait time is due to shortage of staff, but there seemed to be frequent visits ti other tables by servers, so could be put location in the back in a secluded area could be the contributing factor. The prices for the quantity of food is also amazing. But the delay makes me second think supporting the business again. read more

I went here back in July 18, 2021. The location was so nice! Place was packed but it was to be expected in a brunch place. The food was quite good here and I got one of their benedicts. I enjoyed their coffee. It was short-staffed at the time so I'm very understanding although I'll have to agree with a lot of the yelpers here about the service. Regardless, the ambiance of this place was also very nice. I hope to come back again and try their other dishes. read more

No reason not to have full stars. Food was exceptional. Fresh, tasted amazing, portions were perfect, not greasy, and filling!! We had two omelettes both were the best omelettes we have ever had. The menu is structured perfectly so many good and healthy options as well as vegetarian options. Fluffy eggs and egg whites and the chicken was perfect! We also had coffee which was fresh, we saw them brew as sitting every 5 minutes in small batches which is awesome. They have this homemade spice sauce which is to die for. The place is a family owned local place. It has character. It is cute, rustic and homey. To some it may seem a bit dirty but good local places are supposed to be this way. It is not a formal restaurant but a causal cafe. The owner is the sweetest lady who runs the place with her kids. So it may seem there are kids working but there hardworking kids who honestly gave us the best service ever. Be nice and you will be treated amazingly!! Don't judge a book by its cover!! read more

As a side note, this was a grown woman waiting on us, like an abuela, not a teenager. She never came back to our table, until she saw another waitress come over and bring us boxes for leftovers - that we had to go to the bar to ask for. Oh, important point - the restaurant was not busy, so she was not in the weeds. The restaurant could be an amazing spot if the service was better and they seasoned the food. It is NOT worth the money.

Food: very good Service: excellent Ambience: good just like the local cafe it is I am a fan of brewed awakening not because it has the best food, or the best ambience or any thing fancy. I like it because it what a local cafe in a small town is suppose to be. The staff here is super friendly and kind, the place usually has a few locals sitting and chatting and it offers a fairly large variety of items. I often stop here for my morning fix of coffee since it is so near the train station. The coffee is not the best but better than what you find in any other place around here. I have also come here for breakfast on multiple occasions and I love the number 18 omelette with turkey bacon and jalapeños. I am also fan of the turkey bacon blt. I have never tried them but I hear that their pancakes are awesome as well. So if you are looking for "sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came" kind of place this is it :) read more

We visited Brewed Awakening on a Monday morning over Memorial Day weekend, and unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype. The place was understandably busy, but the wait to get seated was longer than expected, and they seemed a bit understaffed, which may have contributed to the slow service. Once we were seated, it took a while for our food to arrive, likely due to what appears to be a small kitchen setup. One frustrating detail was that we were charged extra for toast, even though the menu said it was supposed to be included. These small inconsistencies really impacted the overall experience. The vibe and buzz around the place seem to be what draws people in, but in our experience, the service and efficiency didn't match the expectations. It felt more like style over substance. I came in for breakfast with my family (party of 4), and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. We were seated without menus or silverware, and the person taking our order seemed completely clueless. After placing our order, we never saw the waitress again. The food had extra seasoning that wasn't mentioned or requested, and an additional item we ordered came out long before the rest of our food. It was also frustrating that it took 15 minutes just to get a Coke. The only positive was the gentleman in the baseball cap, who seemed to be the only one working hard to keep things running. Finally one of the workers brought some menus. We were decided within 2 minutes. Waited another 5 minutes, no one came over. We went up to the counter and was told to sit back down to order. Again no one came to take our order. Lady at the front did not make any eye contact with us, busy counting her money. Eventually we got fed up and left. Zero customer service. So... This place is an interesting case study. The shop is kinda blah looking - nothing impressive - the service is average as far as wait time for your order but the staff is extremely friendly! Now the food - we stopped here for lunch while in town for a conference. We ordered 3 different paninis for the table the turkey Brie, the prosutto & the Pisa. This place is great. Atmosphere is laid back. The food is made on one little grill so sometimes it can take a while if you're there on a busy day, but it's worth it everything tastes very home made.
