I love the environment of brewed awakenings. I have been coming here for years. The coffee is brewed in the bean and so yummmmy. They have many flavors to choose from. They have a wide variety of food items from acai bowls to gourmet toasts. At other locations in the state they have open bars as well.. the staff members are pleasant.. well most of them. They can make a good sandwich here, I'll start with that. I've been coming to this location for years and I always want to try and like it. They can't brew a coffee and I don't know how this is possible. It always tastes stale or watered down. As others have mentioned, I need to agree that they have poor customer service. I feel each time I come that I'm inconveniencing them with my order (and I never order anything complicated). Sometimes you need to wait for them to finish talking to their friends before they take your order. When you get your order there's often something wrong and they need to correct it. I can't give it a 1 start review because they do make a good sandwich and it's a nice place to sit and get some work done. They really need to work on their customer service here. The sandwhich came sloppily put together with ham, a sausage patty and bacon, and the bagel was so burnt that there is no way it could have gone unnoticed, it was deliberate carelessness. The food and coffee here are very good, but I'm not gonna lie there are some days where the coffee isn't great. But that happens at most of the coffee shops when you have teens running the place. This particular location doesn't have as much traffic so it can be the better if the two in Johnston to kick back and relax in. The one thing they need to work on is efficiency ESPECIALLY the drive thru. Do not. I repeat do not go through their drive thru if you are pressed for time. They take FOREVER. Always. This morning I had only one car ahead of me and still took me 7 minutes to get through and get my order. First and foremost I've been going here for about two years. There is always an inconvenience or neglect being experienced. I've finally reached the point where I need to write a negative review. I hate that I feel the need to share my experiences. Today was the last straw. I ordered 2 lb of ground coffee, a cookie, and one ice coffee. I sat at the window after the blonde haired girl with huge fake eyelashes gave me my cookie with no greeting. Then proceeded to ask me if I already got my coffee beans. (No literally the first interaction was handing a cookie over) I explained I'm still waiting for the rest of my order. Before I could finish she cut me off and said " so you're just waiting for coffee beans right just pull up" then shut the window in my face. I pull up and after a 5 solid minutes she opens the window and hands me 4 plastic cups full of coffee beans. No explaination why they are not in bags. Actually no words at all. She shut the window in my face again and didn't even say by or thank you. I needed to wait there to let them know that she forgot my ice coffee. No one wanted to open the window back up until I had to knock on the window. Finally when the ice coffe was handed to me it was overflowing and dripping wet. She didn't offer napkins until I mentioned that it was dripping wet. Terrible terrible customer service. They only care about their serving time. I am a female and a minority with curly hair. I always feel rushed and not cared for when being served. My husband on the other hand gets offered free cookies for their mistakes and whenever they mess a order up Hmmmm why is that I wonder. If you're a minority I would find another coffee spot because the looks and attitude I receive is not worth the top dollar price of their products. read more

Used to love coming to Brewed for their smoothies and to study. Really disappointed in today's experience. I thought with COVID it was best to use the drive thru for minimal contact. If you pay by a credit card, they hand you a bill holder and have you sign. I have no idea if they sanitize these things between customers or not... I asked for the brewed wrap without onions and they made me an egg and tomato wrap. They took out the ham that was supposed to be made with it. I ordered a strawberry-banana, but they were also out of bananas and asked if I wanted to substitute it with anything else so I asked for a strawberry-mango. Since it's made with artificial flavoring, it's so sweet that it makes you feel sick after a few sips. I definitely don't recommend the smoothie. Went in this morning around 10 am. Ordered an awakening bagel sandwich with no egg. We were dining in. When my sandwich was ready I proceeded to take it when I saw the egg. I told the girl that I asked for no egg. She took my sandwich, I assumed that there would be a fresh one made. After 10 minutes I went back up to check and there was no sandwich ready. All of a sudden it was brought out to me in a to go container. Same sandwich with the egg peeled off. The cook was extremely rude, unapologetic and blamed me for not ordering correctly. The whole place is spotless and cozy, and the food is yummy! Favorite part is the staff! I came in with my friend and accidentally stayed a half hour past close because the Apple GPS says they close at 8 when they really close at 6. The two girls Shayla and Hannah were so nice and friendly, and FUNNY. They seemed to really love their job. They brought us our food, had conversations with us, were CONSTANTLY cleaning etc. Great staff, great food, clean study space, excellent service all around. I've stopped in different locations and different times at Brewed awakenings. Overall - I'm not a fan of their customer service. Give me a straight up black French roast - drinking it black is the ultimate test. I like coffee...give me the bean - sugar and milk are a preference. I'm familiar with their local supplier which is a reason why I would come to Brewed rather than Starbucks. Their supplier is situated in Providence. Their service in both Johnston locations seems lackluster. I've been to Warwick - and it's a breath of fresh air with their customer service. Not sure why - but both Johnson locations staff need a happy pill. I've experienced about a dozen times simple rudeness - as if they can't be bothered. Today's experience --- they served my usual medium dark roast with very little milk. I picked up the cup and immediately said to myself. This coffee is Luke warm. I brought it back to the counter, and they said "it's because no one orders dark roast." I was speechless. She seemed bothered by my look of unbelief and offered to brew a fresh pot. Woohoo thanks for going above and beyond. So...in conclusion both Johnston locations (I'm thinking it's the same owner) need some customer service training. read more

What's there not to love about this Brewed location? There's plentiful seating and a cute little fireplace to sit by in the wintertime. The space in here is very open and doesn't feel crowded even when it's busy. The drive-thru here is super convenient and moves along pretty quickly even when there's a morning rush. They have a whole ton of pastries and they're always different every day, so make sure you go in to pick one out every once in awhile instead of just hitting the drive-thru! The muffins are always super huge and really moist and cake-y. You can't go wrong with the vanilla chai here... I love it! read more

I live in Johnson and go to Brewed all the time and this is the third time that I have had a horrible experience there. It was busy I understand that but I am standing inside at the register for 10 minutes and neither one of the barista's came over and said I'll be with you in one minute I just sat there for 10 minutes with nobody taking my order and all these other orders going out to ppl IN the restaurant. Another man proceeded to let the girl know I had been standing there. All she said was okay and proceeded with what she was doing. Both Johnston locations have rude workers. Having now discovered a new place for great coffee regular and flavored. Great selection of both. Very personable staff. Explained all flavors. Was a mix up on coffee but they dumped it and started right over. They prewarm. The cups before putting in the hot beverages. Good variety of baked goods and sandwiches. Clean, neat and we'll cared for. Comfy seating and good many choices of where to sit. We had 2 coffees and a pb cookie. My friend said was very good and he is picky about his cookies. Definitely come again or would even try a different location. This was recommended by a employee from another location in South county. Glad we met her. This coffeeHouse gave me a sense of normalcy upon visiting a few weeks ago, as customers were welcome to sit and relax opposed to having the seats aisled off or setting a time limit. The workers were pleasant and friendly and maintained the precautions necessary in COVID times. The coffee was great, like always, and the atmosphere pleasant as customers worked independently or had quiet conversations. As a toddler , my child misheard the name brewed as rude . In an attempt to recall the name " Brewed Awakenings" he remembered rude and awakenings and forever coined the name, "Awkward Awakenings". Which is how we refer to " Brewed Awakenings" to this day.
