However, the man (seemingly the owner) working at the counter made me so uncomfortable I left once I got my coffee and muffin which also took around 25 minutes to receive. If the coffee is fantastic, I'll never know. Had such a bewildering, shitty interaction with the owner on walking in that my wife and I immediately bailed. Guy acts like you have a gun to his head if you aren't one of his Cranston PD buddies. Bunch of embarrassing "nobody wants to work boo hoo" type help wanted signs out front. Was in the area so decided to look up cafes in the area and this place seemed charming and cozy. So glad I stopped in, from the moment I stepped foot in the door I was greeted by the owner and treated as if I was family. Unsure as to what to order so I had them just surprise me. Stopped in for a coffee almost just as they were closing in a Saturday (the tables and chairs were being collected from the front patio and there was a shop vac in the entryway). We were told the kitchen was closed but we could get any beverage we wanted. Today, that was just an iced coffee, but we could choose dark roast, regular, or French vanilla. The coffee was smooth and delicious and the cafe itself is adorable - this is all perfect, but I'm holding off on a full review until I taste the food! It turns out that the man starting to vacuum is the owner, Malcolm. You'll read mixed things about him here on Yelp but he was really kind to us, and took the time to tell us the story of how he got into brewing/selling coffee (really interesting for a BU Football Hall of Famer who played pro ball for a season with the Pats), and even brought me a sample of an amazing iced turmeric that he claims is even more delicious and complex in flavor served hot. We were the only ones in the cafe, except for Malcolm and two female staff members. Finally stopped at Bon Ami and what a great and dangerous stop. Its a unique cafe Paris decorated. The stars here are the drinks. I got a mocha and husband got turmeric latte. I've lived up the street from this place for 3 years and finally went today! I loved everything about Caffe Bon Ami! Atmosphere is cozy, and filled with all Paris things (love Paris!) the owner Malcom was so wonderful and made sure our first experience was excellent. I got a hot chai, and a breakfast sandwich. Yesterday was my first time back at Caffe Bon Ami in a long time. I wish I could go more often but I spend most of my days in Providence and never make it back in time to Cranston for an afternoon pick-me-up. I had the most divine cappuccino yesterday morning on my day off but today I'm having a convenient, mediocre at best, cappuccino from Starbucks. :( As far as prices go, Caffe Bon Ami is actually a little cheaper than popular chains nearby plus they have much better quality coffee. I can still remember exactly how it tasted. That's how you know it's good - when it leaves a lasting impression! One thing I've learned though since my previous visits is asking for less sugar such as 1.5 per every small cup. Today was my first visit and it WILL NOT be my last! Being born and raised in RI I always passed this little place. Today my curiosity took over & I decided to finally stop in.... Greeted by a man and lovely lady whipping up their previous customers order. He turned to me and said "First time? What would you like?" I said "something cold and strong" he said jokingly "my girlfriend!" And we both laughed. I enjoy walking in to a place and the first interaction is an exchange of laughs. We got the chatting and he made THE best cup of magic and a breakfast sandwich, They were both made with Tough love. I say tough because this place isn't all about glitz and glam. It's youre getting what you want with a touch of morning realness and laughter. If you plan on going, this is a CASH ONLY establishment. To customers like us, we would suggest that you bring at least $20-$40 cash with you if you are in a party of 2+ and plan on having food and drinks/coffee. They offer something unique to RI. It was a lovely day and the ambiance was very nice with the doors open and the breeze. It was a very comfortable place to take a breath and enjoy your food. The staff were accommodating. The only thing I would suggest: I wish it was clearer that it was cash only. Not many people carry cash anymore. There were a lot of signs and signs with small lettering so there was a lot to take in as a first time customer. The girl at the counter realized we were having trouble reading the menu due to the small lettering and the order board being obscured by other signs and handed us a menu, but the menu did not match the board and pricing was a bit obscured. These are simple fixes. I wish there was a sign that said cash only on the outside as well as one that was clearly posted on the inside of the building as we would have hit an ATM before going there so we could have had what we wanted. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. The cappuccino is the best, foam so perfect taste so balanced. The coffee alone has me craving more. They make these great breakfast cookies that are gluten free that are addictive. The crepes both regular and buckwheat are so tasty. I get the fresh spinach, egg, cheese and ham. There are other different options for stuffing the crepes. The environment reminds me of traveling back to Europe this i also love. On Father's day morning this past weekend, I had what was the most uncomfortable and infuriating experience at this business. Now I grew up in Cranston very close by to this cafe, and it had become a regular spot more in the past couple of years when my partner and I moved back to Cranston. First off before anything, they are still cash-only, and when you go in as a first time guest to ask about it, they look at you like you should already know and expect it. The younger girl that works for the owner always cuts you off mid-sentence when you're ordering and has not customer service or social skills for that matter. This visit confirmed to me once and for all that the owner is a racist, homophobic bigot. Not to mention he barks at YOU with commands about your order. He is not accepting of the LGBTQIA+ community or any BIPOC person. He made that very clear this past Sunday when he complained about Juneteenth being a holiday and mentioned that Pride month shouldn't be a thing. On top of that, he proceeded to say "F*** their kids, mothers, fathers, siblings, and anybody associated" out loud in front of the entire establishment. It took everything in my being to not throw a coffee in his face. Needless to say this "French paradise coffee shop" is more like a nightmare of bigotry and ignorance. If that isn't enough to keep you from giving them your business, the prices will have you running as well. We cannot support businesses like this in our community. Cranston is a vibrant, welcoming place for all people and we cannot let them continue to be a staple. read more

My wife and I arrived right before closing to grab an iced coffee and then had planned to leave quickly. Instead we lingered over delicious house blended brew that tasted so fresh and smooth it surely must have just been brewed. As we drank we noticed a gentleman who was about to vacuum the place, so we gestured to leave. The gentleman turned out to be the owner Mal Najerian who was so gracious in greeting us and who passionately told the story of the Cafe's origins, including the gorgeous copper ceiling and fixtures--and his own personal story, from record-breaking tailback at BU and his brief career as a New England Patriot. But most of all the shared his exquisite knowledge of coffee, crepes and all sorts of French delicacies. What a generous and thoughtful and gracious gentleman! Mal did mention that he had contemplated retirement after 26 years but his family persuaded him to delay for a couple of years. We are so pleased. And we intend to return very soon. read more
