Granted we went during COVID times and couldn't truly enjoy this brewery to it's extent. The patio tables are closed outside, it's takeout beer only. Since it's been a few years visiting San Juan Bautista, we went all out shopping at local businesses. Twenty Five was one of our discoveries. Staff were super kind and willing to take their time with us, answering all our questions. We walked away with 2 crowlers; kolsh and coffee porter We did drink both cans that week, each were a solid and tasty beer. My favorite was the coffee porter because it had so much flavor to it. I was told they partnered with the local coffee shop, vertigo, to use their coffee with this beer. read more

We stopped by this place on a Sunday afternoon since it was on the way home from Paso Robles. They close early at 6pm on Sundays. It was a bit hard to find since its located in between stores/restaurants. Look for the small signs! The beertender lady was nice and let us try a few splashes to decide what we want. We really liked the Many Moon Nitro Coffee Stout and Passionate Pepo Passion Fruit Wheat. Beers were around $7.50 or so. You can bring your dog and food.There's also a TV screen. read more

Nice brewery with great beer. It is is a little shopping area, so it is not on the main road. Selection of about 6 beers. Provides 4oz, 8oz, and 12oz drinks. They offer pre filled crowlers but no growler fills. Great ambience and kid friendly. read more

First, some history...my DH first had the Many Moons Nitro Stout in the spring of 2019 at The Grove. He had been looking for it ever since that day. To his delight it is made right here in our little town. This oatmeal stout is made with cocoa nibs, vanilla beans and coffee from Vertigo, our favorite coffee shop (also in San Juan Bautista). If you've never had coffee from Vertigo, you are missing out. They roast their own hand-chosen beans, a master roaster--not that Starbucks crap. But I digress... Brewery Twenty Five Taproom. How the heck can you say no to an oatmeal stout with notes of coffee and chocolate??? What the hell are you waiting for?? And the Porter, Meant To Be. I don't even like beer and I, dare I say it, love this. I'm a cabernet person but I do love this porter. It is like chocolate raspberry velvet coffee in a little glass. It WAS meant to be. Even better? Twenty Five brews small, experimental batches of different beers...one time it may be toffee, another anise, or peanut butter! Mother of God, peanut butter!!! Suffice to say my DH is happy and I finally don't feel left out at a taproom. Plus the staff is wonderful. Jarre, I hope I'm spelling that correctly, was super friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the product, the surrounding area and local lore. P.s. Dark beers not your thing? Try the Citrinitas Fortunella. It was pretty awesome, too! We will go back again and again and again...and again. read more

This is a brand new brewery right off the main downtown part of San Juan Bautista. Well it's new. The tasting room is new. The brewery has been around for a few years. Parking is no big deal. This isn't the north bay and street parking is possible pretty much at any time. If all else fails you'll be own a side street somewhere two ish blocks away or in that gravel lot by the high school. There is room for five or six peeps at the counter and tables enough for maybe twenty friendly folks inside. There can be a couple of tables outside as well but those aren't exclusively for the brewery as they are primarily shared/intended for the wine tasting room next door. The seating is comfortable if unremarkable. The building may be old-it looks like it could have part of the original mission-but the space is newly remodeled and has that brand spanking new feel to it. They do not serve food-there is no kitchen, but you can bring in pretty much whatever noshables you want. They carry menus for two of the closest restaurants-a sandwich shop and a Mexican place respectively. What all that means is that the focus is on the beer. The brewmaster is just hitting his stride but his work thus far has a lot of promise. On our visit the taps consisted of a saison, a double ipa, a single ipa, a hazy ipa, and two stouts one of which was a dessert stout. You know how it is with beer-one persons nirvana is another persons bread and butter and a third persons nausea. Everyone has different tastes is what I mean. To me the saison was extraordinary. It did not have that super yeasty sour feel to it, so very much a lighter, blonde saison yet a very easy drinking beer. The ipa's were good verging on great, and the stout was a solid choice, dry and toasty. I was not particularly fond of the coconut dessert stout-it was a tad too syrupy sweet for me, but you could totally taste the coconut. The various shades of IPA's trended towards being flavorful without the overpowered mouth burning bitterness that California IPA's have become infamous for. Not for someone looking for super bitters, but perfect if you like the APA styles. Pricing is fourteen dollars for a full tasting or four bucks each for whatever you want a tasting of, and six to seven bucks for a full pint, which is pretty much in line for any area brewery. They do crowlers and growlers should you be so inclined. Overall this is an excellent add for the area. The brewer has a lot of scope to innovate an it'll be interesting to see where he goes with it. read more

Extreme statement coming up, but I'll stand by it: this little family-owned brewery makes the best beer in the greater Bay Area, and my wife and I are so excited that they have opened up a brewpup. And we backed that strong opinion up with action. We live in Monterey, and in 2017 we had our first taste of Brewery 25 at the Monterey Beer Festival. It was by far our favorite stand at a festival that had several dozen awesome breweries. We kept coming back for more and asked the owners where they are located. They said they currently brew on their own property in San Benito County and have their beer on tap at some local Hollister bars, but at the time they didn't have a tasting room open yet. We started following them on social media waiting for them to open their own tasting room, and finally it happened - they have a beautiful little spot in small-town San Juan Bautista, two blocks from the old mission. As of this writing they're only open on Saturdays from 12-5, so my wife and I booked a hotel for weekend and made the trip out. It was totally worth it, because not only is San Juan Bautista a delightful little town (especially if you love California's Spanish and Mexican heritage), but the beer was as good as we remembered, and maybe even better since they had some new varieties on tap! This is your quintessential small business. They owners were there to greet us when we walked in the door, and both mingled with the customers the whole time. Just wonderful people. I've said it before, but I'll say it again: the beer is outstanding. The New Moon Stout and the Oatie Oats IPA are the two that I remembered from the beer festival, and they are excellent. They also have a few others now made with local fruit (lemons, etc) that are perfect for the warm weather of mid-September. All in all, we stayed for 4 hours and never had a beer we didn't like. You also get a sense of the small-town community if you stay long enough. The place a little was quiet from 12-2 (the owner mentioned they were thinking about tweaking the hours a bit and opening on Fridays as well), but by 2 it was absolutely packed with all sorts of people - lots of groups, lots of happy conversations, lots of friendly people who are happy to talk to a stranger. They also have excellent relationships with other nearby businesses. One of the big paintings hanging in the tasting room was done by a local artist whose shop is right across the street, and a local sandwich shop (Lolla's) delivers delicious sandwiches to the tasting room at no extra charge. All in all, based on the beer, the location, and the people who own it, Brewery 25 has my highest recommendation. If you live in Monterey or the Bay Area and you're thinking that San Juan Bautista is a bit too far away, make a weekend of it! Take your beer pilgrimage! The town is awesome and the weekend getaway is 100% worth it. read more

I found the spot using Yelp as I've been traveling from PDX to San Diego and now back north to PDX again The beer was good and I enjoyed the decor and article re: the history of the brewery hanging on the wall. I hope to try the Oat Mosaic Citrus concoction next time. read more

I was actually pretty impressed with the beer here. I am not much of a beer drinker. I did a tasting of non-IPAs. They were good and I think better than the last craft brewery that I went to. I especially liked the stout, it was flavorful and not overly filling. My husband was not with me but I'd take him here. I think he'd like it. read more
