We stayed at Briar Patch B&B for the first time from June 18-20, 2026, celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. For this special occasion, we booked The Cottage. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The bedding was soft and fresh, and extra blankets and linens were readily available in the cottage. The bathroom was well maintained and stocked with plenty of towels. We also appreciated the well-appointed kitchen and enjoyed having a Keurig available throughout our stay. One of the highlights of our visit was the breakfast. Each morning featured delicious, made-to-order eggs along with other offerings such as pancakes. The homemade blueberry muffins were exceptional and easily made my list of all-time favorites. The owners were charming, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the local area and nearby attractions. Their recommendations helped make our visit even more enjoyable. We had a wonderful stay at Briar Patch B&B and look forward to returning in the future. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. read more

We stayed one night, June 12, 2026. The only positive thing I can say is that it is close to downtown Middleburg. The whole Inn is shabby, very worn and dirty. It smells musty throughout and makes you wonder about the cleanliness. It does not resemble the photos which must be very old. Kitchen had dirty dishes and pots in the sink, a jumble of food and items filling the counter. The pool was green across the whole bottom - it had not been vacuumed in ages. The beds had old mattresses that were lumpy and the bathroom tub and shower curtain were yellow with age. The onsite staff was not welcoming nor helpful. I would NOT recommend anyone stay here. The entire place needs some capital to fund a complete refresh. It is past its prime. read more

My sister and I chose the Rooster's room for our overnight getaway. The room itself was very comfortable and clean, and it was clear that it had been recently renovated. The bathroom was spacious, the mattress comfortable, and there definitely was no smell as noted in previous reviews. We enjoyed the table and chairs overlooking the pool area including the scenic barn on our early morning walk. We had access to the cottage's kitchen where we stored a bottle of wine. Ron, the owner, prepared a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit, homemade blueberry muffins, scrambled eggs, and fried potatoes. We took a dip in the pool, and also checked out the hot tub--all in good working order. We were the only guests on the property, and it is clearly undergoing a renovation. The grounds keepers arrived on our departure morning (but not too early), and their efforts were notable. It remains a work in progress, but we were still very comfortable. The price fit our budget, and we enjoyed being close to wineries and Middleburg itself (great for our morning stroll). My husband and I stayed here overnight and overall, the house and rooms itself is more on the older and outdated look as expected. The bath tub sits pretty high and can be a tripping hazard - I can't imagine stepping down as an older folk. We had dog so we were feeding them the night of our stay and we saw a mouse actually come to try to take some of their food so that was startling and unpleasant to see. Otherwise, the host was very nice and friendly. We are thankful they allowed our dogs to stay overnight with us. They served us homely breakfast but unfortunately I did lose my appetite after seeing the previous review with the mice poop and nest in the kitchen drawers while having seen the mouse itself in our room. This is a decent property that is poorly maintained. Facilities are warm and homey. The cleanliness is problematic: dirty window sills, dirty sheets on a pullout couch. The property is vastly understaffed: 1 person serving the entire property. The food looked like a day-old supermarket purchase. We won't be returning. The resulting vibe felt much more like couch surfing than a $300-a-night splurge. Facts: We waited an hour to find a staffer after arriving at 5pm. Couldn't unpack bags or do anything, while we walked around, waiting, and looked for this person. The Entry room was covered in bed sheets and pillow sheets, being dried. The pullout bed in our suits had somebody else's old bed sheet on it, hairs and everything. The breakfast was a day-old quiche. It was in a supermarket disposable tin pan, which HAD PRIOR SLICES cut out of it, which the staffer offered to heat up for us. So at least a day old. We were the first people to breakfast, promptly at 9am. Nobody else was eating quiche. Speculation: I can only suppose this is in an effort to expand their margins. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a place that didn't have professional cleaning and was provided old supermarket food. Our experience was nothing like the high-rating reviews. I suspect that for weddings, there are a large number of *professional* 3rd party hospitality vendors on hand. And this is the key -- that great staff make a great hospitality experience. And I have a feeling that the "regular rentals" will have the understaffed and disappointing experience that we did. Rustic, but adequate accommodations. Kind and lovely proprietors, Dan & Ellen, make guests feel at home. Everything was clean (sheets were super soft!), plumbing & hot water worked well. We stayed in the main house. Just could use a little sprucing up or updating. Breakfasts were casual (prepared by Dan). I enjoyed the "homey" feel and the ability to make coffee/use the refrigerator/grab some snacks/use the water cooler whenever we wanted. The highlight of our weekend was the cooking class on Saturday held by Chef Matt of Red Coat Cooking School in the event building on property. The wine and hors d'oeuvres on Friday with Matt were also delicious and a fun way to start the weekend! Chef Matt is a great teacher (mostly demonstration) and chef. I don't have adequate words to describe how truly disappointing our experience at Briar Patch was. Luckily, we had other amazing vendors who made our wedding amazing & compensated for the extremely poor quality of the venue we paid for. For starters, the place is wildly unclean and not kept up with whatsoever. The owners are rude & snarky when you ask for anything at all. We asked that handprints be cleaned off of dirty windows in the ceremony space & was then called OCD by the owner (see emails below for some horrifying responses from the owners). We quickly realized that the windows were the least of our problems when we went through or guestrooms the week of the wedding, and found that there was a stink bug infestation. There were so many stink bugs that when my little sister tried to use the iron in a closet, they crawled out of the iron. Then, another wedding party guest opened up a towel to shower, and five stink bugs, fell out and crawled on her legs. In the hill house, every single drawer and cabinet had mouse poop in it. There was a mouse nest in the kitchen cabinet. My mom and I cleaned mice poop out of that spot of the venue for 2 hours. Every room, bathroom, and reception space on the property is extremely filthy. When I confronted the owner about the stink bug, infestation and asked for help to clean them up, he bluntly said "it's called a vacuum." There was zero cleaning done prior to our arrival with our guests, so my mother & I spent 3 days leading up to the wedding scrubbing the walls of the reception hall, vacuuming up 400+ stink bugs, spraying a stink bug deterrent on the windows of the guest houses, and replacing shower curtains that were covered in pink mold. These are things the owners should have taken care of themselves. Particularly the stink bug infestation -- to reiterate how bad this problem was, we had to clean behind every picture frame hung on the walls of the main house because there were 20+ bugs behind each one. Dan, married to owner Ellen, was on site all weekend and couldn't be bothered to clean up the rotten food that he left in the kitchen sink. This is a communal space for wedding party to get ready and eat breakfasts together, but nobody wanted to be in the space because there were bugs flying around the dirty sink and the smell was horrendous. Dan's desk is absolutely filthy and disheveled, conveniently it's located right where guests walk in through to get to their rooms. This should've been our first red flag of just how messy and gross this place would be. Dan also showed up in our reception after being rude to my mother and other wedding party members all weekend, and makes himself a plate. It's convenient that he can come eat free food off us after he did NOTHING to prepare his disgusting venue for the weekend and treated his customers horribly (again, see emails below). You will be treated poorly & ridiculed for asking for basic cleanliness if you book here. Run away like your hair's on fire. I will not be recommending this spot to anyone and in fact plan on warning everyone we know with upcoming weddings to stay far away from Briar Patch. Aside from the scenic views, this place is a joke of a venue and is a biohazard that should be closed down asap. read more

We chose to stay here for our 20th anniversary. This B&B has its own charm but needs a bit of process updating. The owners were charming. He was solo but asked us what time we wanted breakfast. However, when we arrived the kitchen was very dirty with food scraps and dirty dishes all over the place. I mean, this was at least a few days old dirty dishes, pots, and pans. But, that didn't damper our stay and the owners cleaned it by the next morning. It's just cluttered. We stayed in the oldest room in the house with its own bathroom. It was cozy and very charming, although there were a couple floor nails poking through that would stab our feet. Still, we understand this is a very old home BUILT ON A CIVIL WAR BATTLEGROUND. The grounds were great and relaxing. I would come back just for the hospitality of the owners but I think it's time to hire an actual manager. This would be a great place to stay if you had a family reunion or any other type of large party. The owner drove us around to a few vineyards, which was nice. The Fox Den is a beautiful reception space and getting married with a giant tree as a backdrop is just magical. Dan was a wonderful host although he was challenged by a staff shortage due to the effects of Covid-19 he managed to get our room ready, take us on a 4 hour wine tour, made dinner arrangements provide transportation to and from our dinner and served us breakfast the next day. I've been to 5 different BNB's and have always had great experiences. I must say this one was the most disappointing. To start with the gentleman that checked us in and showed us to our room, told a very unprofessional and insulting joke. It was a terrible introduction to someone who had never been to this bnb previously. I won't share the very poor tasting and inappropriate joke but it was better served for him to share with a friend opposed to a guest at his bnb. The overall look of the property needs some sprucing up. It's on a nice property but the aesthetics are outdated and lacking. Lastly, the breakfast was absolutely terrible. Usually the best thing about a bnb is the breakfast. The ones I've previously stayed in usually give a few options to choose from. This one fell far short. The main hot meal was some sort casserole consisting of potatoes, cheese and sour cream concoction. It didn't look very appetizing but I gave it a try nonetheless. To say the least is pretty disgusting. I ended up eating the very cold mini pancakes that were left on the counter and some fruit. Despite the other good reviews I saw, i would not recommend this place to anyone, nor will I be making a return visit. read more

It was so nice and convenient to have all our immediate family members on the property to spend as much time as we could together. Dan and Ellen (The Owners) were beyond helpful with all of our needs and were always available if we needed anything. If you are in the market to host a wedding in the Middleburg area I would highly recommend this venue, there are so many amazing places for pictures and you can't beat the price to rent out the entire property Fri-Sun in Loudoun County. Loved staying here ! The location was perfect to venture to wineries and enjoy a dog friendly vacation. We went to downtown middleburg and it was very convenient. Helen was super friendly and accommodating along with the other women. For breakfast they served quiche that looked delicious along with a gluten free breakfast for myself including toast, eggs, fruit and yogurt with granola every morning. You are able to go feed to horses and have space to walk around the area. They also had a pool and hot tub for warmer seasons. We will definitely be back ! read more

My husband and I had a very disappointing experience at the Briar Patch B&B. We rented the cottage for privacy and safety due to COVID. The shower has mold and the light fixture was filled with dead bugs. The kitchen had other people's leftovers. We had selected the wine special and never even got the wine glasses. Our tour guide ran off the road twice. Breakfast on day one had half hour lapses between courses and we never got breakfast the second day. It was a huge disappointment. When I raised our concerns they said "we can't please everyone" and that was it. No offer of a refund or discount. Even after we submitted the pictures I am attaching here. This review is specifically for The Fox Den at Briar Patch - a separate facility housed in a small building - perfect for all sorts of events. Some friends of mine held their annual fundraiser at The Fox Den - the 9th Annual 2012 Chili Cook Off and Food Bank Fundraiser. The Fox Den has a semi-spacious lobby area - with a large room off to the left, and the larger main room beyond the lobby - complete with a fireplace. To the right of the lobby is a small kitchen area. There are coat closets on the left hand side of the lobby with lots of hangars. Outside to left and back of the main room is patio area. The Chili Cook Off and other foods to be judged were in the room off to the left of the lobby - along with a bar serving beer and wine - while a hostess greeted attendees in the main lobby area. Tables were set up in the main room for folks to sit and chat, drink, and eat Chili and other snacks. They have a free Wifi network in the facility - the network is password protected, so you'll need to obtain the password to get on the network - as we did. Oddly enough, The Briar Patch has a Middleburg, VA address, however, it is far closer to Aldie, VA. Great venue for special events! Check it out. read more

I was planning on leaving a three star, but when we checked out the place waived our remaining charges (after our LivingSocial voucher had been applied) due to the malfunctioning toilet flush in our bathroom. Overall we had a nice two-night stay in the Violet Room. We did not know (probably our own fault for not looking into it closely) that room would share the same bathroom with the Hyacinth Room, but luckily no one was staying at the Hyacinth Room we so had the bathroom to ourselves. There wasn't much interaction with the staff onsite. We came down for breakfast late on both mornings (we had been told it'd be served around 9 and usually run till 10:30); but we wanted to just relax and not have to worry about setting our alarms since we were, well, on vacation. Coming down sometime between 9:45-10, we served our own breakfast from the counter, which was fine. Sadly we didn't feel welcomed by the lady who cooked (I think Henriette), who exhibited virtually no interest in chatting with us while we sat and ate by ourselves at the table and she worked around in the kitchen. I'm not sure if it was because our late arrival caused any inconvenience or if she was just for whatever reason disinterested in striking up a conversation. But we didn't mind much. We appreciated the fact that they let us redeem our LivingSocial voucher that we had purchased over three years ago. Of course it had long expired but we were able to use the amount paid toward our total charge. We had also made multiple attempts to schedule a stay, but through our own fault hadn't been able to commit to a date until last month. After I informed Henriette at breakfast one morning about the broken flush in our bathroom they offered to take the remaining charges (I think it would've been $69) off our bill or give us another bottle of wine, so that was much appreciated. We got to play with Henriette's dog, Lola, one day after we came back; and there were five cats at one time outside the house. They had a piano out in the backyard which I got to play a little. There are tables and chairs set up on the porch; the swing and the pool also made our stay extra scenic and relaxing. Our voucher included a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates upon arrival, as well as wine tasting coupons to three nearby wineries. Unfortunately since we stayed Sunday through Tuesday, there were a lot of wineries that were closed on weekdays. But we took advantage of the opportunities and still visited Miracle Valley, Naked Mountain, and Barrel Oak on Monday. A great value for what we'd paid, and I'd definitely be inclined to do it again should there be another chance for a similar deal. Overall we had a nice stay and I'd be back, but I'll make sure we stay in a room with its own bathroom. The broken flush wasn't too much trouble since a lot of the other rooms upstairs were empty and I was able to sneak in another bathroom (that or manually fill water into our toilet's tank and flush). I also had trouble closing the hole in the tub in our bathroom so I had to use another to take a bath. I can definitely see why some people feel the facilities in the house are a bit too old and need repair. read more

My husband and I stayed in the cottage for an overnight getaway. Upon our arrival we noticed that the room was not very clean - things like dust, bugs, pieces of hair, etc. were left about - it truly didn't even look like things had been minimally wiped down or swept up for some time. The couch was as hard as a rock and the queen size bed was soft, and really caved in on one side. We got a terrible night's sleep. There were other little things - for example, the screen in the door on the back was broken, and repaired with blue painters tape. There was a perfect fist sized hole in the wall near the bedroom door. The vaulted ceilings are sprayed with foam insulation which is painted over. These types of things are easily fixable and would work to improve the aesthetic and overall quality of the quarters, but clearly not of concern to the owners. I am all for rustic charm but the cottage is very out of date and could use some serious maintenance. The breakfast in the morning consisted of some old tasting broccoli quiche, premade and reheated pancakes and mushy fruit salad. It was quite disappointing. The owners did seem nice, so it's hard to leave a bad review, but if your life's calling is to run a bed and breakfast - and for the highway robbery price of close to $300/night, it should be the best bed and the best breakfast there is to offer. This stay wasn't worth $100 for the night. We had the overnight gifted to us by my brother and his wife. If we had paid the price ourselves I would have honestly been really upset. Like many others, we stumbled upon Briar Patch while researching dog-friendly B&Bs and we couldn't be happier with Briar Patch. The staff is warm, welcoming, and accommodating. It has the antique, quaint farm house charm and scenic grounds. They even provide carrots to go feed the horses in the barn. Breakfast was very good and it was an inviting atmosphere to strike up conversation with other guests or just chat with your companions They allow you keep your dog crated in certain rooms which is great but we brought ur pup everywhere because the little town of Middleburg and nearby Delaplane has a ton dog-friendly shops and wineries. Great location, beautiful grounds, warm staff. We will definitely be back on our next trip to northern VA wine country. read more

The property is lovely, and the cottage was spacious and a welcome private refuge. Pool out back was large and refreshing, although the hot tub was out of order. However, I was uncomfortable with the apparent lack of COVID precautions. Dirty dishes and leftover food remained in the cottage from the previous guests (staff suggested I should help myself to the food instead of offering to remove it), which made me wonder about the overall cleaning protocols in place. Staff didn't wear a mask in any encounter. No choice of what to eat for breakfast. And it sounded like an animal scratched in/at the walls all night, making for a disrupted night of sleep. I know times are tough right now and can see why others have liked this property, but would have a hard time recommending it for a rare night away during the pandemic. read more

Pros: Clean and quaint room in the Chicken Coop, updated private bathroom, easy parking and check-in Cons: On our first full day at Briar Patch, there was some kind of wedding event for couples interested in the venue. Guests were not escorted, and two walked right into our private bedroom! Totally inappropriate that they were not escorted by the owners and allowed to roam freely, even into our bedroom. On our second morning, I was sleeping in after being at a wedding the evening prior, and we had lost an hour of sleep due to daylight savings. Needless to say, I wasn't able to get any rest, thanks to the dog staying in the room right next door to our's! While I don't blame the dog for barking nonstop, why would one allow guests to have a dog in such private living quarters?!? I called, and Ellen's husband said, "I don't know what you want me to do about it. The owners of the dog probably left to go to breakfast. You should walk down the hill and say something to them." Really?!? I also emailed Ellen on Sunday to follow up with her, and while I received an email saying she would call me, it has now been 5 days with no response. Sadly, we would not recommend this B&B. While the place itself is not bad, there are some major kinks that need to be worked out. We unfortunately did not experience the relaxing weekend getaway we were hoping for. read more

Briar Patch has shown substantial improvement since a Yelp reviewer decried an "old" room in August 2009. We stayed in the Iris room, and admired the attention to detail. Three years of guest remarks in the comment books on the dresser were uniformly positive. Jennifer, the manager, claimed it was the most popular. Iris adjoined the living room on the main floor, and was part of the original house from the late 1800's. The private bath included heavy bathrobes, full-sized bars of soap, larger-than-standard bottled shower ingredients, Q-tips, cotton balls, and a full-length mirror; along with a traditional claw-footed tub. The bed was exceptionally comfortable; its only drawback was a single nightstand. Iris is windowed on two sides with its own door to the front lawn, traditional and digital clocks, and shelves of books. The eight-person hot tub in the back yard was flawless, secluded and open all night. We appreciated the fruit juices, teas, sodas and bags of snack food available any time in the butler's pantry. Though the Website indicated only a continental self-serve breakfast on weekdays, we received a full breakfast including fresh-baked bread, scrambled eggs, and fresh fruit. The cook who speaks four languages explained that a complete breakfast is served whenever the Inn is full, as it was when we visited. We even found a Washington Post newspaper on the veranda at 5 AM. The enormous yard of blooming flowers and flowering trees was aesthetically soothing. Five horses in a paddock behind the pool eat apples and carrots (a great feature for kids). I found the staff to be gracious, personable and competent. With its unusually large staff for a bed-and-breakfast, Briar Patch preserved the look and feel of a nineteenth century home even though the wedding / banquet dimension of the operation blurred the line between a classic B&B and a country inn. Our overnight visit substantially exceeded expectations, but I have a cautionary note for wedding planners: Tour the events building before committing. The Most Pet Friendly Place We Have Ever Stayed In! My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Briar Patch. I knew I already loved the town of Middleburg, because I had visited Loudon County a year before for wine tasting in the area. If you love amazingly built mid-1800s architecture and quiet country living, then you will love the setting of the Briar Patch. On the drive to the inn, my husband laughed as I ooed and awed at refurbished wood, outstanding rock foundations and rolling horse farms. If you are looking for a fast-paced, city lifestyle, this is NOT for you! We brought our dog, Ira, on our honeymoon. It was terrible trying to find a place in the area that allowed dogs. I could only find three that would consider pets, and after reading more reviews we chose Briar Patch. Luckily, this place was made for dogs! We have an Australian Cattle Dog who needs to run everyday, without a leash. Just taking him for a walk on the grounds was enough for him. Also, they have very few rules about what you can and cannot do with your pet. As long as your pet is well-behaved our dog was allowed to romp without a leash in the house, kitchen, and even went swimming in the pool! It was so relaxing to stay in a place where my dog wasn't treated like a nuisance. Briar Patch is great. It's clean, which is number one in my book, and all of the staff are super friendly. They will go out of their way to help you. It was a weekday, and we had a home-cooked breakfast everyday! And they even cooked me vegan food!!! We will definitely go back. Briar Patch was exactly what my boyfriend and I needed after a stressful semester in college. The decor, snacks, and genuine vibe from the owners all contributed to the home away from home feeling that we search for when finding a hotel/bnb. The owner was happy to tell us the history of the house and surrounding area, which was extremely interesting. I had a great stay here a couple of months ago. Although the inn is located on Route 50, the grounds are very tranquil and quiet. There are many cats on the property and it was fun to take pictures of them and feed them little bits of smoked salmon and crackers. I stayed in the well-appointed Iris room which was very charming with its own private bath. My hesitations in giving five stars are 1) the Wi-Fi connection was spotty and unreliable so no streaming movies while snuggled up with a glass of wine and 2) the breakfast left something to be desired. Briar Patch Bed & Breakfast is an amazing place to spring board your DC area / Middleburg / Wine country trip / Wedding. Highly recommended for everyone! I can't speak to the wedding accommodations, but they would be amazing and their event hall is perfect for small and large weddings. We got to know this place because of their Living Social deal. Seasoned bed and breakfast goers and newbies to the bed and breakfast scene, like us, love this place. It was a daunting experience, booking our first b&b, but Briar Patch made it warm, friendly, communal but not crazily so, and accommodating. The breakfast was tasty, the pool was fun, the hot tub is a plus, and the grounds are pleasant. They are pet friendly as well. The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable; we stayed in the Violet / Hyacinth Suite and loved it! They have a living room with direct tv and wifi if you need it (although with so much wine to taste in the area, why would you spend time on the couch?) Wine country! They give you wine tasting coupons, maps, and recommendations for the area. So helpful and awesome! You could easily spend a week here enjoying Virginia wineries. If you're considering a weekend stay, you may have to book off-season, November - March, because Briar Patch, being one of the premier DC area country wedding sites, book up for weekend weddings most of the summer. If you're wondering of staying here, just stop wondering and book a stay... you won't regret it. read more

Pros: -Exceedingly charming, just like you'd imagine a bed and breakfast to be. Every detail was just perfect. -Delightful staff. -Easy check-in and out. -All the accommodations you'd ever need. -Hot tub! -Tasty vegetarian breakfast. -The bed was the most comfortable I have EVER slept on. -Close to many attractions. -Very clean Cons: -The bathroom tile and tub are very slippery and hard to step up into. -We could hear every every time our upstairs neighbors turned on the faucet or walked across the room. It was very loud. Get a room on the second floor! -Very drafty. -Wireless connection was slow. -The decor is like a country grandma's house. This may be romantic for some, but I found it kind of stuffy and a little too "family friendly". But if that's what you're looking for then it certainly provides. read more

Stayed in the Iris room 2 nights within the main house. The staff and Ali were exceptional hosts, who tried to cater to all our needs. The breakfast was always very nice and with vegetarian options for food. The snacks and little touches were great and when we were there, it felt like we were at a friend's house - very comfortable. Why the 4 stars? We are not too picky when it comes to B&B facilities, especially one built in early 1800's (main house) BUT the place needs maintenance and upkeep (TLC). Not that we are going to stay there for long enough to 'care' but we think for the sake of safety and general upkeep it needs a good top-down review of repairs and maintenance: walkways, roof, barn area, electric fence, gate, jacuzzi area, overgrown shrubs, pruning of trees, etc... So, no you will not be majorly impacted by any of this for a few nights stay but I would definitely do a walk through first if I were to book a wedding, corp retreat here, etc. We did not go into the venue space - only looked in and it seemed very nice inside. Overall the staff makes it a great place and locations was perfect to launch to local wineries, Shanendoah River, great hiking and excellent boutiques and restaurants in the area... read more

Loved this place! I am from NYC, and was looking for a fun country get-a-way long weekend to indulge by rural side, and to escape the pollution and vibes in the city. Being that I lived in Upstate New York earlier this year, I figured hey why not see something a little different. Briar Patch was beautiful. We stayed in the cottage. The grounds were very well cared for, which I appreciate. The location was perfect to take advantage of wine country, horseback, fresh farm foods and restaurants. It was wonderful. The cottage was just like home right away. The aroma of essential oils in the air, it was so great. The cottage was so beautiful, especially the bathroom. There is a supermarket close by with a Red Box, so we enjoyed a meal and a movie. I requested a Gluten Free breakfast which Charlotte provided, which I was happy to find in a rural area. Big sell for me. I also took advantage of the hot tub. it was very therapeutic. Did I mention they are pet friendly. My 6 month old Beabull really enjoyed it. This trip was great for him. I could not give 5 stars because the wi-fi signal strength did not successfully reach the cottage, and the computer room was not guest. It would have been nice to look up area activities and events. We will return to Briar Patch if we are in the area again. read more

A great stay with my wife this past week. It's not far from DC... but just far enough! We had dinner in Middleburg, and went back the next day to see more of the town. I won an overnight stay here at a bridal showcase, being that it was right next to our wedding venue (Chrysalis) I was so excited. From the moment we checked in to the second we left, we were treated perfectly. What the Briar Patch staff didn't know was that my fiance and I had been apart for seven months and that weekend was not only his birthday but the weekend I was moving to CA to be with him. I believe customer service can make or break a situation, the Briar Patch made ours. When we arrived the owner showed us to our room (Iris) and made us feel right at home, the room was just lovely and we even had our own patio. We had brought our own champagne but they provided glasses, plus a full homemade breakfast and plenty of snacks. They have a pool and hot tub, that we jumped into after a glass of champagne;) I am honestly not a cat person- and the property has many pets, including outdoor cats.. the cats are so friendly and sweet, my fiance took a picture that he will forever hold against me of me loving on the cat. The dogs (i'm a big dog person) were all so friendly and well behaved as well. We are both high-tech people and the service was poor (as it is in all of middleburg), also only one tv in a common area. This place was so relaxing and pleasant, I didn't even think about wi-fi. I wish i could win a million stays at this place, and I will definitely recommend it to my guest for my wedding, and will book for my next visit back east. Briar Patch is an exceptionally quaint Bed & Breakfast located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Middleburg, VA. I had planned to visit for a night with my girlfriend to celebrate her 25th birthda and arrived in the evening after a day at Barrel Oak Winery. Before booking, I called and asked if I could have an Amazon package delivered and the contents displayed in the room ahead of our arrival. The proprietor, Henriette, not only received and placed the package in the Rose Room but also arranged the presents (books) in a basket on the dresser and placed the other present (an espresso maker) in a gift bag with tissue paper. The entire display was very considerate and went above and beyond what I was expecting. Needless to say, my girlfriend was thrilled. The next morning we had a delicious home cooked breakfast on the patio while mingling with other guests. There was orange juice and champagne ready for mimosas, fresh fruit, homemade pancakes with fruit, and fresh coffee cake. Everything tasted great and the wide variety of fresh food coupled with the ambiance of Briar Patch's beautiful property all contributed to a very memorable morning. Overall, we had an amazing experience at Briar Patch and the personal care that went into everything from the room with presents, to the breakfast, not to mention the accommodations made for our small dog were all extremely thoughtful.
