The Cavalier Club with Vegetable Medley

This restaurant is an old school gem! It's been there since 1948 and this was my first visit! I had lunch there today! The place is clean and I mean clean to the point when you open up your napkin, the silverware had no water spots and you know they hand dried the utensils! I ended up ordering The Cavalier Club with spicy mustard in place of the mayo ... OUTSTANDING! My side was the vegetable medley which was delicious! Tea was freshly brewed and was always topped off without asking! Only downfall ... I was too late for the cheesecake ... they had sold out by 1:30pm. I will be back and probably order the cheesecake first! ;-)

Love this place. Great selection of foods and the service is friendly, fast and accurate. If we lived closer we'd be frequent customers!

What an Amazing place! We stopped in for lunch and was so glad we did. We were greeted and seated quickly. Olivia, our waitress, was exceptional. She took our drink order and gave us time to look over the menu. She gave great suggestions and placed our order. The food arrived hot and was presented beautifully. My Waist Line chicken dish was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The broccoli was delicious as was the Caesar salad I had in place of the cottage cheese. Definitely a MUST visit!

Great atmosphere! Food was good, I had the cheese steak. It was ok, really enjoyed the spinach dip. My wife had the French onion soup and 1/2 club sandwich. She enjoyed it and would order again, We'll be back.

I've been back several times and, for the most part, I order the same thing.. don't fix what ain't broke. It's consistently fabulous. I have tried the calamari appetizer and the fried oysters. The calamari was cooked perfectly. I wasn't a fan of the oysters, just because the batter was soft and I prefer a crunchy exterior to offset the soft oyster. Looking over at the seafood boil makes me jealous. It seems to be a family owned business.. the owners seem very involved and can be seen at the front of the house. Servers are friendly and attentive. The slights: there is a mix between fine (?) dining and fast (?) food... the atmosphere is nice, and I don't mind paper on the table for a seafood joint, however, the sauces come out in plastic tubs with the lids on, and there is no salt and pepper on the table. Glass plates, plastic cups.. that kind of thing. The menu is also of two extremes.. overly reasonable to overly expensive. Give it a try! (And never critique the fried shrimp basket, because I never want it to change! :)

I took away 2 stars because of: (a) PRICES - not very affordable. and (b) ENVIRONMENT - they were playing "urban music" with a lot of bass SO FREAKING LOUD, it was downright uncomfortable. The music just did not mesh with the "Cajun" theme whatsoever. I don't really foresee me coming back unless they lower their prices AND tone down the music.

One person in our party said her salad had the best dressing she's ever had. The fried pickles were good. The shrimp was good. One bartender was good. Cons - We walked in and basically weren't sure what to do. There was a woman at we thought was a hostess stand, but she never said anything to us. We finally asked if we needed to check in with her to get seated. We did. But it was kind of weird. One bartender was awful. Never made eye contact. Wouldn't take any orders. Acted like she wanted to be anywhere else. I thought the Caesar salad was ok. It came with lacquered salmon. I would have loved the salmon, but not lacquered. It couldn't be made to order. Ok fine. I ordered it the way it was described. There was nothing lacquered about that salmon. It also was shredded on top of the salad and was maybe two ounces. That's ridiculous. Our server wasn't very helpful and not very attentive. I'm sure many people have had great experiences there, but I'm not sure I would take the time to go back.

Upscale without being stiff, comfortable without losing that polished feel. I ordered the jambalaya, and it was a standout. Well layered flavor, not overly heavy, with a nice balance of spice and richness. The proteins were cooked properly and the vegetables still had structure, which matters in a dish like that. It felt intentional, not just thrown together for a brunch menu. Across the table, the Eggs Benedict was equally strong. The hollandaise was smooth and properly seasoned, not overly lemony or thick, and the eggs were cooked right where they should be. That is often where places miss, but this one didn't. Dessert was where things really elevated. The strawberry cheesecake was clean, bright, and not overly sweet, with a good texture that held together without being dense. The chocolate Rasberry glutin-free dessert torte, was rich in the right way. Deep chocolate flavor without crossing into heavy or overwhelming. Service was attentive without hovering, and timing between courses was well paced, which is not easy on a busy holiday like Easter. Overall, this is a place that clearly pays attention to execution. Not just presentation, but flavor, balance, and consistency. That is what separates a good brunch from one you remember. We will be back.

I don't even eat oysters but know these were a failure. I had a sub that was described as being piled high with roast beef and served with an au jus. But instead it was minimal meat on tough bread with a dip made of onions and what tasted like great value brown gravy. It was our first and last visit, honestly if I could go back in time we wouldn't have ever gone the first time. We ended up here because the place we wanted to eat was packed, no issue getting a table here which should have been a sign. Oh and to top it off when it was time to pay we were told sorry we gave your ticket to someone else so here's their ticket, it's about the same as yours a little less probably....umm what? We paid it and left because we were over the entire experience. Oh and whoever on your staff that smokes weed it stinks up the place and just not the vibe we look for in a restaurant that's charging expensive prices for subpar ingredients. When we left we picked up a chicken sandwich at chick fil a just so we had a decent meal this evening.
