This is a favorite place for me and my friends in LN. I used to live in the neighborhood and now that I don't every time I visit, this is where I normally want to eat! We love the pizza, and my favorite is the white pizza. The burata salad is to die for and large, but the house salad also very good. We alternate those salads w a pizza most visits, but I have had several other dishes and appetizers that are all good. I will give honorable mention to the meat balls, the pizza roll and the breaded mozzarella. The entertainment is always good and I've enjoyed it on the weekends. The Elvis impersonator is fun and he interacts with the customers. I can't wait until my next visit! Nice local Italian restaurant in Laguna Niguel. We went on a Friday night so there was some live music, which was great. We brought our own wine ($20 corkage, which is reasonable). We then started with the Cesar Salad (5/5 great flavor, crisp fresh lettuce, light croutons, and plenty for two). For our mains, we had the lasagna (4/5 - good flavor and nice portion size) and the spaghetti with giant meatball (3/5 - pasta was good but the meatball was burnt to a crisp). Service was amazing (Lanelle was 6/5). I was a little surprised that they just do shaker Parmesan cheese (not fresh - at least for the pasta) and no bread for the table. Overall good experience. We are at Bricco almost every weekend -- it's become our go-to spot for great pizza and good vibes. We always sit at the bar, where the staff knows us by now and treats everyone like family. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable. We always get the New York-style pizza, half jalapeño and pineapple, and the other half pepperoni and sausage. It's the perfect combo of sweet, spicy, and savory -- and the crust is always thin, crisp, and perfectly charred from the oven. You can tell they really care about quality here. One of my favorite parts about Bricco is the live music. They often have cover singers doing classics -- think Elvis, Frank Sinatra, and other old-school favorites -- and it gives the whole place this fun, nostalgic energy that makes you want to linger a little longer. My wife and I stopped by here during happy hour. We ordered the spaghetti and marinara, fried mozzarella, and Caesar salad. All three dishes were great: robust flavors, fresh ingredients, well-prepared and very good-sized portions. And for happy hour prices that were very reasonable. My wife and I left full. The next time I go back for happy hour, I'll order one of their drinks, which are also reasonably priced. The hostess was very friendly and so was our waitress. Happy hour appears to be popular, as the restaurant was full. The ambiance was buzzy, high energy, people enjoying their meals and each other's company. If I could shout from rooftops to tell everyone how delicious the food is, I would! We went for dinner and discovered their "happy hour" yesterday! We were happily greeted by our server Gianna and the Bartender, both smiled and welcomed us. The food came quickly and at perfect temperatures. We discovered 'happy hour' while there and ordered from that menu since we like to share small plates. This happy hour is one of the best values in the Laguna Niguel area! The QUALITY of this food sets them apart from others! The restaurant itself is small and intimate with music on certain nights. We arrived at 4:15 so there were 4 people at the bar, and tables were open. We ordered a caesar salad, the calamari, and Pappardelle Bolognese, plus my hubbies favorite the famous 'giant' meatball starter topped with marinara and burrata, served in an all-clad skillet. The Caesar salad was just enough for my husband and was served cold with crisp romaine lettuce, fried capers, buttery croutons but it was the dressing that was really delicious! It was perfectly balanced, and we could actually taste the anchovies! Yum. That house-made huge meatball I mentioned is a blend of beef, pork, and veal, and one of the best meatballs in the area (and beyond), no exaggeration! As an Italian Nonna, I've been making meatballs for decades and this recipe is legit. The pappardelle is house-made by a friend of the owner. He spends time in his kitchen and you can absolutely taste it with every bite! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the bolognese was delightful, I could taste the richness and depth of flavors with a hint of wine. Yum. The calamari was perfect! I wonder if they soak the squid before breading them because it's so tender even the tentacles (which are my favorite part ) melt in your mouth! The batter is tasty and the breading had the perfect balance of spices that blended together nicely and it was served with a side of marinara and lemon wedges (the later is my preference.) The butter cake is house-made by the owner and decadently delicious, sooo yummy. We brought it home but ate the delicious ice cream on the side. This is a great little neighborhood ristorante and a favorite of many! It's a great place to eat 'alfresco' on the outdoor patio, or listen to music on Friday or Saturday night. Visited Bricco and we were very excited to experience the new outdoor patio construction. Booked a table for 5, and seems like they are still not up to speed. Seating was very slow. Food was fantastic as usual, but service very slow. The main reason for posting this review is to let the owners know that the music volume outdoors was WAY TOO LOUD. We could not even have a conversation at the table with our guests. We mentioned this to our server numerous times, and she said there was nothing she could to. Hubby was craving Cacio e Pepe, so I did a search on Yelp and this was the closest place that offered it. The reviews for their Cacio e Pepe seemed promising, so we decided to give it a shot. We ended up ordering our food to go. I called at 3:45pm to see if I could place the order for 4pm pick up, but they said no, and to call back at 4pm when they open. I wondered why they even picked up the phone in the first place? Hubby arrived at 4pm, placed the order for 2 Cacio e Pepe's to go, and it was ready in 15 min. When we opened up our food containers at home, we were pleased with the size and portion of the pasta, however they completely missed the mark on the flavor. I'll admit that we've had authentic Cacio e Pepe quite a few times in Italy, so we know what it should taste like. Unfortunately this was not it. First of all, the dish was very soupy and watered down. Typically Cacio e Pepe is creamy and consists of pecorino, pepper & butter. The pecorino and pepper were very light. We actually barely tasted any pecorino, but there was some type of cheese on it. The pepper was also very light, which is not typical for this dish. The pasta was unfortunately over-cooked (too soft) and not al dente. And last of all, Cacio e Pepe should be creamy, not watery and soupy. This review is solely based on the Cacio e Pepe dish, so please keep that in mind. We would consider returning to try their pizza or lasagna. They also seem to have a good happy hour menu. read more

Pleasantly surprised at Bricco yesterday. A group of us went to dinner at this small but very clean, and chic restaurant. The food was great and delicious. The only reason for the 4 stars is that one person ordered a Chicken Salad and it took forever for it to come out. A couple of people were almost done eating when the salad came out. I was pleasantly surprised the menu was updated and added a vegan and gluten free dinner option. Bravo! I ordered the Kale and Mushroom Vegan Ravioli.... so good! The house salad can also be accommodated to be vegan. Wonderful! I was a happy camper! Our server was very kind, helpful, and polite. We'll definitely be back. We came here for dinner tonight. The restaurant is small but they also have a tent outside that is very cute. Food was delicious and service was great. I had the chicken piccata and that was very good. The pasta was perfectly cooked, el dente, and it had a nice chewy texture. The zucchini was also very good and not overcooked. Hubby had the pappardelle pasta with bolognese (meat sauce with beef & pork) and he loved it. We had Diane as our server and she was wonderful. Staff is very well-trained here and everyone is so nice. There's also live entertainment on the weekends. Attentive and personable. The outside seating was nice with a patio heater setup. I ordered the Blue Collar Chicago Style and my wife ordered the Alfredo and it was delish! We wrapped it up with the Nutella donut balls (lol) and had enough left over for the next three days! Forgot what the name was. Definitely coming back. We arrived at 5:00pm on a Friday and we were seated on the patio/outdoor area. Restaurant was mostly empty. There seemed to be enough people working but for whatever reason the service was incredibly slow. Our server would approach one table, then disappear, then return with one item. Them repeat. It was so bad I had to go inside and see what was going on. (20 min after receiving a drink) There were plenty of employees- mostly they were standing around. Our server was very nice- and the food was great, but management needs to figure out a system for serving that avoids 20 minutes delays before ordering. My second visit. Went on a Wednesday night. It was not too busy. The dining room was mostly full, and the patio was empty. We were greeted promptly, but the staff appeared stretched thin. It took about 5 minutes to be seated, despite no one being ahead of us. We ordered calamari shortly after sitting down. It arrived a very long 15 minutes. The portion size was reasonable, and the quality was very good. The marinara was served warm, and the arugula added a nice contrast in texture and flavor. This was the strongest part of the meal. When the calamari arrived, we placed our entrée order: a gluten-free pizza and two pasta dishes. The entrées arrived about 20 minutes later. There was a lot of waiting. Approximately 40 minutes worth (5 minutes to be seated, 15 minutes for the appetizer, and 20 minutes for entrées), which felt long given the overall crowd level. The pizza was very good, especially since it was gluten-free. The pasta dishes were below average. They were overcooked and soft, with sauce applied too heavily. We finished with tiramisu. It was good quality, though somewhat expensive. The total was $107.21 before tax and tip. The staff was friendly and professional throughout the visit. Service delays appeared related to staffing levels and kitchen pacing. Overall, this visit was inconsistent compared to my previous experience. Some items were strong, while others fell short, and service was slower than expected for the price point. P.S. The restaurant next door, Alo Asian Kitchen, was under renovation again when we left. At this point, this is probably the sixth or seventh remodel I've seen there. read more

I meet a friend here for dinner once a month. All the food we've had here has been delicious, but I have to give special mention to their incredible Caesar Salad! First, it's more than enough for two to share, which we always do, so that we have room for an entree each, which we always end up taking half home. But the salad! The greens are always crisp, the dressing is flavorful and not so much that it overpowers the salad. But what sets it apart is the fried capers that are generously sprinkled over the whole thing! We've been coming to this restaurant for the pleasant atmosphere and fine dining experience for several years now. Last Friday they had live music which was a plus. It gets a bit loud when you're seated inside so if you're considering this you may want to be seated in the outdoor (covered) patio. However, I'm taking off two stars for the following quality issues. 1. Wine - In my hometown it's not unreasonable to expect to see the bottle presented when decanted. In any case the wine tasted "off". When I inquired about the matter with our server I felt as though I was being brushed off. 2. Pasta - The linguini was rather odd, kind of mushy and round like a Play Doh machine was used to form it. Linguini is an Italian word that translates to "little tongues" referencing a long, flat pasta shape. Having visited Italy myself it may be unreasonable to compare Bricco's homemade pasta to Europe's. But I'm unsure if semolina flour made from durum wheat was used. Maybe it's just me, but I feel it's a reasonable expectation for the use of high-quality ingredients. All in all though this restaurant's price point is on par with Antonucci's and Domenico's on the Lake (in Mission Viejo) they need to work on their quality and consistency IMHO. read more

Another 5 star Laguna Niguel culinary experience - my husband and I went here last night as we've recently moved back to our home town and have been trying all the newer restaurants and this was next on our list. As an Italian myself, I have high expectations and Bricco certainly met them! Amazing Happy Hour deals we were able to snag with 10 minutes to spare - the bolognese specifically was incredible. I ordered the Tuscan from the normal pasta menu and wow. Insanely flavorful and rich without being overpowering or sickly. Very clean and calm vibes in there as well, next time I think we'll sit in the little outdoor area because it's so cute! Our server, though I forget her name, was just lovely- very attentive and conversational but let us enjoy our date as well without being overbearing. We took home plenty of leftovers too. I love this restaurant. The owner Mully always makes sure all the pizzas are cooked to perfection. His employees are very respectful of him cuz he's honest and straight forward. Paula is family, I love her. I had steak with fried potatoes & vegetables. I also had calamari. As a Chicago native, it's rare to find a place in California that gets it right but Bricco's thin crust pizza, loaded with sweet onions and sausage, is crisp and so flavorful. Another highlight was the Cacio e Pepe - finding one that's not dry isn't always easy, but Bricco's version is packed with freshly grated parmesan and plenty of cracked black pepper... trust me this pasta is anything but bland!! And one more mention is the spaghetti and meatballs. Bricco serves it up with one massive, melt-in-your-mouth meatball that's the size of your fist... still thinking about this dish!! Came in last night for a friend's birthday dinner. No reservations. Got seated quickly. The only part that was odd to me is there were two parties waiting outside the front door. I wasn't sure if they already put their name down. I went inside to ask if I needed to put my name down but no one really said anything. There's no hostess stand either. A young lady said one minute so I just went back outside. New guests walked up and went inside to wait so it was a little confusing. Thankfully they weren't super busy because I could imagine it getting complicated. Anyway, we were seating quickly. Michelle was our server and she was great. We've driven by Bricco so many times and have always wanted to try this place. The restaurant is owned and operated by a father and son duo and is a nice neighborhood eatery. There are a lot of regular customers that dine here which tells you the food is good. Our first experience here was very enjoyable. Our server Paula was amazing! The restaurant itself is very small but they have a nice outdoor seating area with plenty of heaters. We ordered the bread loaf with herbs which came straight out of the oven and was delicious but the loaf was much smaller than we expected for $6. I only wish the bread and butter was complimentary as many Italian restaurants usually offer. For our starter we ordered the happy hour half size calamari which had a light batter and was fried perfectly. For our entrees we enjoyed the Lasagna and Cacio e Pepe which were both very good. We will definitely return here to see if their food quality and service is consistent with each visit which may bump up my overall rating. Prices are reasonably priced with the exception of the bread and they have good happy hour options. A nice neighborhood eatery. read more
