My wife and I have been meaning to go back to Apizza Doho for a couple of years and finally got back, yesterday. Thanks to Yelp for reminding us of it. We've been kicking ourselves since then for not coming back sooner. Excellent food and service. We only had their lunch special with "The Original" with peperoni and sausage. We were primed for good pizza, but didn't expect the salad would be so great, too. A couple next to us had the lunch special, too, and were raving about "The Vampire" pizza. We spent a few nights in Dana Point and was really close to this restaurant. We got it to go and ate it back at our hotel, but wow, the pizza was memorable for sure. As someone who knows what actual New Haven pizza should be (think Sally's Apizza), Apizza Doho misses the mark completely. The dough was nothing like the authentic thin-crust style; instead, it was thick, burnt, and strangely covered in butter. The Margherita sauce was essentially tomato sauce and lacked balance. The Clam Pizza was the biggest disappointment--it was buried under so much cheese and garlic that you couldn't even taste the clams. It was so greasy that oil was running down our hands, tasting more like a heavy, cheesy garlic bread with overpowering chunks of raw garlic than a refined white clam pie. To round it out, the zucchini chips were flavorless and mostly just fried breading. The only silver lining was the calamari, the cherry peppers were a nice touch and it genuinely reminded me of Rhode Island-style calamari. Such a positive experience at aPizza Doho. We were sat immediately on a Saturday Afternoon, our server was so friendly and conversational, the outdoor seating is comfortable and you get some ocean breeze. The pizza though wow, we were able to do half and half of 2 kinds (as long as they have the same sauce!) which is amazing since every option of flavor combinations is mouthwatering. The crust was perfect, the structure, the sauce and ingredients were all top tier. I've been thinking about it ever since!! We can't wait to return. Susie was our server and was very lovely throughout the evening! However, the quality overall of the pizza tasted okay at best. The slices were burned, so at most I can give a 3/5...Susie was very kind and offered to make us another pizza to-go, so that is definitely to note! I wanted to order a pizza in Dana Point to watch the sunset nearby and found APizza Doho when I was searching on Yelp and so glad I did! We ordered The Bee Sting pizza and we loved it! I loved how they packed the Burrata separately for to-go orders. The flavor was amazing and we really enjoyed it and would get it again, although we want to try other pizzas. We also got the Zucchini Chips - such incredible flavors but the only bad thing is that when you get it in to to-go boxes, they become soft and not crunchy. One of the best pizzas I've ever had. We are talking about driving up from San Diego just to have this pizza again. We had the southwest swell pizza and ordered it with "1000 steps." Amazing. The combination of spicy chilis, sweet pineapple and savory red onion was perfect. The crust was thin and well-done on the bottom. Portions were huge too, but we were so happy to have the leftovers. I drove past this place about 4 times in a week until finally I said ok it's always busy so it must be good. We got really lucky that it was actually not too full. We got sat right away outside. Given that it was not too busy we did not anticipate to wait very long for the waitress to come and attend to us. She really took too long to take our order and drinks. First of all, the prices and lines seem to coalesce. When there is a line, it is because of great value and that is the intersection of the ultimate dinner venue. I don't mind spending for a good dinner and I prefer to find a place like this where the food is amazing, the service is prompt and the value is beyond. At a time like this, when times are uncertain, you want to go to a place where you feel happy because the location is amazing, ambiance is great (acoustics were good) and the value is best! Easily the best restaurant on this street. 100% worth a short walk down the hill from the Marriott hotel. We started off with an order of Zuccinihi chips because we always like to eat Zuccinihi fries. The chips were good, mostly fried rather than Zucchini. We ordered two pizzas. One thing to note, at least for dinner options, there are no different pizza sizes, they are all the same size. We ordered the HWY 1 and our waiter, recommended the Bee Sting, a waitstaff favorite. The HWY 1, was extremely tasty the caramelized onions pairing well with the pepperoni and sausage. The Bee Sting was the family favorite, the Burrata and hot honey stealing the show. The waitstaff was friendly with all of the waiters and waitresses thanking us for coming and wishing us a good night. Parking was a little hectic but that is out of Apizzas control. Finally made to A Pizza Doho and I was extremely underwhelmed. Tried two different pizzas and a salad and was very disappointed. The pizza itself just isn't tasty from the cross, the sauce to the cheese and toppings. Additionally, the salad dressing on the Italian salad was very sour. Came here for the first time after a beach trip and loved it! There is a small parking structure, but takes some time to find parking. The place is pretty busy around 7, but the wait goes by quickly. Lots of seating and they have warmers for the tables outside.. Our server was very nice and friendly, she answered all of our questions. The food was amazing! We got two pizzas and we were able to share and have leftovers amongst 4 people. The Hwy 1 was very savory, meaty and overall delicious. This has gotta be one of the best pizza spots I've tried. It's located on PCH, so thankfully there's a large parking lot on top of the restaurant. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We did the lunch box deal which was an 11" apizza with a choice of simple or caesar salad. The caesar was great and it's a big portion that could be a meal itself. Tried the arancini too which was good, but the standouts were obviously the pizzas. We tried the vampire and bee sting pizzas, with the bee sting being my favorite. It has a perfect hint of sweetness to it with the hot honey. This is high on my list of where I should bring friends/family to in OC! read more

We did a build our own pizza. Half another flavor and half another. It looked really good! However, I think maybe my expectation was high, it didn't taste anything special to me. And it gets pricey when you do the build your own. Each ingredient you add is about $3 or $4 and it adds up pretty quick. Ambiance is really casual and it looks like there are a lot of regulars. For the price we ended up paying, I know I much better tasting pizza place in the same city where we he ambiance is more elevated, but still casual. First off, I've never been to an establishment where every single person there was very nice and welcoming! Plus, very easy to find and ample parking. Now the food...phenomenal! We ordered Fritto Misto, Tutta La Casa salad, Mia Mushroom pizza along with the Stingray and Hwy 1. Starting with the Fritto, it was crispy and well seasoned, didn't even need to use the sauce. It was delicious as is. Not generally a fan of salads, however, the Tutta La Casa was quite refreshing. It had so many toppings so you get different flavors in one, very tasty! The Mia Mushroom was also good as is, but we added prosciutto anyway. I don't normally eat the crust of pizzas, but the crusts made here were nice and crispy! Unfortunately I didn't get to try the two other pizzas because I was stuffed. In my opinion, every single food item was perfectly seasoned. Dessert was also amazing and homemade! Everything was so impressive yesterday that we decided to go again today! We got Kendra as our server once more and she was so happy to see us, that she gave us a hug! What warm service! This time she suggested the Bee Sting pizza which was heavenly! It comes with Tomato Sauce, Pepperoni, Burrata, Fresh Basil Chiffonade, House Infused Hot Honey.
