UPDATE: After receiving a response from the GM, I took a look through some of the other negative reviews and noticed a pattern: nearly every criticism seems to receive a lengthy explanation or rebuttal defending the policy or practice being questioned. And respectfully, I think that's part of the disconnect here. When customers repeatedly tell you that something about their experience feels unwelcoming, explaining why they're wrong to feel that way isn't necessarily the same thing as listening to the feedback. Of course children shouldn't be running through servers carrying heavy trays, climbing on bars or fences, or lighting leaves on fire. I don't think any reasonable parent would disagree with that. But none of those examples remotely describe what happened during our visit, nor were we suggesting children should have free rein of the restaurant. My concern was--and remains--the punitive three-strike system and the way it's being enforced for fairly ordinary kid behavior. There is an enormous amount of space between "children setting things on fire" and "a kid got out of their chair," and that nuance seems to be getting lost. We live in an incredibly family-heavy community filled with busy restaurants that somehow manage to maintain safe environments for their employees, children, and other guests without making parents feel like they're accumulating demerits throughout their meal. And that's really the feedback: a policy can be created with safety in mind and still be poorly executed. If multiple longtime customers are telling you that the experience of being on the receiving end feels punitive and unwelcoming, perhaps that's worth considering rather than simply explaining why the policy exists. read more

I've been here quite a bit. Todays experience set the others apart. Came in for a to go order of tater tots and got to talking with Quince at the coffee station. He makes great coffee and super knowledgeable on all the spots ! This is such a cool and cozy neighborhood hang out in Dana Point and now that there's a mother's market next-door, they are going to be a lot busier! They have some great beer and snacks and it's a fun meeting place. The employees are so friendly and sweet! I can't wait to come back... every day! I have been in love with this beer house for quite a while now. I come here with my little nieces all the time. They love the open layout, couches, and long tables to do arts and crafts. Their beer and wine list is fantastic. I am usually always here for coffee and food. So, my review is mostly about that. To start, they have an amazing coffee bar. It is just as impressive as the other part. I've done the mocktails and loved those as well. This visit I got a latte. The espresso was ever present in every sip. The temperature was perfect. They did a very good job all around. We order the crispy potstickers every time. I love the ginger ponzu/soy sauce it comes in. The fresh green onions are my favorite part (I'm simple.) They have sesame seeds which makes a huge difference with potstickers. The kids love them so much. We tried the cauliflower this time. They arrived roasted to perfection. It came with an insane cilantro-green goddess dressing. I used the extra sauce for potstickers. I loved everything about this. I prefer the cauliflower over the Brussels sprouts. We also order the chicken wings sometimes. These are the best in the area. So crispy and sauced to perfection. They are spicy but not crazy. I'm happy to report that my St. Patrick's weekend visit was truly an outlier! Project Social has once again reminded me why it's one of my favorite local spots. The quality of the burger was absolutely fantastic on this visit: juicy, fatty in the best way, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. Easily one of my favorite burgers anywhere in the area. The rest of the experience matched the food with great beer selection, friendly service, and the same relaxed, welcoming vibes that make this place such a standout in town. This was my first time here. I tried the delicious goat cheese and pear flatbread. It was great. We sat outside on the spacious patio. There were many tables with umbrellas. We had our choice to sit in the sun or the shade. The service was very fast. A group of 8 ladies sat nearby. I was surprised how quickly they got their orders. This spot was awesome. The restaurant was gorgeous and had the social atmosphere that I really look for in a place like this. It is one of those spots that you go up and order at the front and they bring you your food when it is ready which means there isn't a whole lot of server interaction. The drinks were really good and the beer selection was wonderful. The Bloody Mary was amazing. I got the potstickers and the cauliflower and let me tell you the cauliflower was one of the better vegetable dishes I've had in a long time. The only thing I would be weary about is that the tomato soup was just okay, and it had a really strong underlying taste that I wasn't expecting. Other than that, everything was excellent. Such the vibe! My nephew recommended this place and since we were in the neighbourhood, we decided to stop in. We weren't terribly hungry but wanted to have a few appetizers. The way it works is you order at the counter and they take your food to you when it's ready. Everything looks so yummy on the menu. We went with the fig and goat cheese flatbread and the loaded tots. Everything was delectable. They have an indoor outdoor seating area and fire pits.... Such a cozy vibe. After my second bite, bit into a piece of bone in the meat. Disgusting. Opened up my burger to see the meat and it had little pieces of bone in over half of the meat. Unacceptable and disgusting. I'm so tired of everyone just saying positive things and not being honest in reviews anymore. I read reviews and ordered from this place thinking it was quality food. This is the second time we've been to project social. The first time was for a birthday party on the patio by the back bar and it was a really nice event--so my husband and I decided to come back for lunch! We're happy with the quality of the food. The restaurant is a rather large facility which resembles more of a rustic loft type vibe. When you walk in you head to the bar--and there's a sign above which shows where to order and pay. They give you a number and bring the food out to your table. There's also a handwashing station near the restrooms--the soda fountain is located there also. We ordered a chicken sandwich, onion rings, and Chinese potstickers. Out of the three, the Chinese potstickers were excellent; crispy on the outside and tossed in a flavorful semi-spicy tangy sauce. The chicken sandwich was very good, but it really needed more flavor, which is why there's four stars as opposed to five. And the onion rings were good, but not as good as The Stand, who has the best onion rings! The staff is very welcoming and friendly. What a rad place! Whether you want a beer, coffee, or brunch, this place has the it all plus immaculate vibes. Seating is offered indoor and outdoor and feels like you're at a brewery coffee shop if that even makes sense. A friend of mine recommended this spot and I'm always up for trying new places. I grabbed their matcha latte with oat milk. For shareables, we had the loaded tots and fig flatbread. The matcha latte is on the bitter side, but the oat milk helped balance it out. Their shareables were so good! My fav was the fig flatbread because of the savory from the ricotta and sweet from the fig. Ordering is done at the front. If you're dining in, they'll hand you a number and bring it out to you. Parking can be kind of tricky as the lot is a bit small and shared with a handful of other businesses. We wanted to try a new place for breakfast so we ventured out to Project Social. This place was different to the regular 'coffee' shops. It was deigned with an open concept with comfortable leather couches inside and a heated outdoor area also with couches. Our breakfast sandwich was excellent, a soft brioche bun with a spicy honey, a slightly runny egg cooked to perfection , good quality bacon and a round potato patty to fit perfectly in the bun. This was probably the tastiest breakfast sandwich that I've eaten. Our lattes were served in a ceramic cup and saucer with a lovely design by our barista, Quincy. This place has a good progressive vibe, service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive. This was a great start to our weekend! read more

Honest review: I'm disappointed by the carelessness in preparing my food tonight. The food was okay, we ordered the Caesar salad, Poke bowl, and burger. As I was working my way to the bottom of the poke bowl, I found this JEWELRY PENDANT IN MY FISH!!! I just had dental work done, and this was a scare because I could've chipped my tooth or worse, swallowed it. We called over one of the managers and she defended her staff more than us, saying none of the staff are women. Yet, we saw female bartenders/servers wearing jewelry.... SHE DID NOT COMP OUR MEAL! Nahhh this place ain't it. I got the Dana Breakfast Burrito (which they need to change the name of because there's way better breakfast burritos in DP) and a drip coffee. Nice that the drip was easily accessible and could get multiple cups, however the burrito had cold Pico de Gallo in a hot breakfast burrito, served with a couple Tapatio hot sauce packets. WOW was it bad, and yes I ate every bite crunching into the cold red onions with hot flavorless scrambled eggs. Honestly the Tapatio made everything tolerable. Bacon cooked 3 hours ago at beginning of opening, I could easily tell, along with the taste of multiple types of food from glove contamination. Place is so fake mainstream, people think they can just grab a spot with a a beautiful patio and upscale clientele location, whilst sticking low execution into food I would only come back to drink beer and tip well, and I did see some people on their computer smashing brews at 10am on a Friday so there's a half hope this place has charm, besides that, breakfast is a BUST. read more

Project Social is probably the best breakfast, burger and dinner spot in all of South Orange County. The hamburgers are amazingly fresh, the onion rings are the best that I have ever had! The Buffalo wings juicy and seasoned perfectly. Love their salads and chicken sandwiches. I am able to dine in and sometimes, I have delivery! Either way, to the tots, fries, soup to the sandwiches are amazingly fresh and delicious, the service impeccable, the beers are ice cold and the ambiance is welcoming, friendly and hospitable for friends, family and your four-legged friends! The side of Tots were crispy and tasty. While the Grom Cheese sandwich was fine, my husband absolutely enjoyed their Chicken Noodle Soup!
