Excellent ever changing menu and craft cocktails. The restaurant is a little small and very popular, so there's often a wait, but it's definitely worth waiting for. The bar is large and always buzzing with activity, and is a great place to wait while trying one of their excellent craft cocktails or something else created by the very knowledgeable and skilled bartenders. I went here with my boyfriend for an early dinner on Saturday and we had such a great experience. The restaurant is so beautiful and the staff is amazing. Brett was our server and he was so great! I have a few allergies and he triple checked the kitchen for me! He was super personable and just great overall. Love this little neighborhood spot. It has a city like feel but right around the corner. Definitely a gem that everyone knows about. They get very packed but always have great service. Everything I've ordered here has been excellent, from their apps, to their pizzas to their specials. We always order a lobster mac & cheese and I always have one of their specialty cocktails. Great place! Tried it for the first time last month and it will be a regular. If you go, get the Speakeasy drink! Kind of like a Mojito with lemonade, honey, vodka and weirdly basil, but it all works. I am obsessed! I had a great BBQ burger with awesome fries. My only complaint is I ordered my burger medium but it arrived closer to well done...but I was too hungry to return it. Also, I had to ask for water more than once...only one server for the outside tables who clearly could have used more help. Otherwise, a great place with a great vibe. Unique decor----------- equally unique food! Provolone fries are awesome! Beer selection is great. We shared a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and a porchetta sandwich. Both were excellent. We sat at the pizza bar--pizzas looked gourmet and great. We had a very nice conversation with one of the chefs--lovely gentleman. One word of caution however--they tend to have a heavy hand with the hot spices--so you may want to order your sauces for the sandwiches on the side. The aioli sauce on the chicken sandwich was delicious however it was VERY VERY spicy to the point where it overpowered the chicken. The porchetta sandwich comes with a "merlot/long hot sauce"--which we smartly ordered on the side---it was very very very spicy. I will definitely return. read more

I have to start off by saying that the style and layout of the inside is so beautiful! We sat right next to the bar and we could see the wood fired stove they used for the pizza which was such a cool touch. They even had a bar that was around the station that the cook was working on which I have not seen before. The service was great and our waitress was kind enough to take the time out to kind of go over the whole menu with us. The food was alright and pretty reasonably priced for the cost of it. Went to Brick and Brew last night for some dinner and drinks. Started with the wings and they were absolutely amazing. For dinner I ordered a burger rare and my wife ordered the chicken sandwich. I ordered my burger rare and it came out about as well done as you could possibly cook it. It was my 2nd try at the brick and brew burger. Luckily my wife's chicken sandwich was delicious and huge but I threw out the entire burger less one bite. The bar tender did not ask if anything was wrong with it. We paid and left and will most likely return but stick to the chicken. read more

My husband and I just moved to Havertown, after painting night and day, we stumbled upon brick and brew. Great food!!!! We sat at the pizza bar the first night and food was superb!!!!! Today, my family and I went in to for a late lunch. We waited for 10 minutes standing by the doorway. Another party if 3 came in. They were offered seats at the pizza bar while they waited for a table. We were not. When we finally went to be seated the table they directed us to was literally in a tiny cramped corner where we had to squeeze by the table in front just to get by. The 5 of us would have certainly not comfortably fit at the "table." Only then did they offer us seats at the pizza bar. This poor customer service reflects they did not care if my family and I ate there or not. I will not be returning and will share this experience with anyone that asks about this restaurant. read more

My ideal rating for this place is 3.5. It was a very pleasant evening. I would return mostly for drinks and if we needed to eat, we could. I can't say I would return for the food itself but it was fine. We had the Brussel sprouts (3 stars), stuffed peppers, which were a special (4 stars) and the spicy sausage pizza (4 stars). My husband and I absolutely LOVE this place. Yes, it gets crowded and no, there isn't a waiting area so your timing needs to be good. We've probably had all of their pizzas and love ALL OF THEM. The flatbread specials are always wonderful as are any type of wings. Lobster mac and cheese served in a skillet is creamy and delicious with lots of big pieces of lobster. The fried pickles are thin and crispy - a must try! The specials NEVER disappoint and the cocktails (the capone, strawberry fields and any margarita) are over the top! read more

Heading home from DCMH and decided to check out this restaurant based on Yelp reviews. It was 9pm on a Tuesday night and the place was packed. Our waitress, Jessica, was very attentive and made some great menu suggestions. We ended up sharing the roasted beet salad and the Chevrine brick oven pizza. Both were excellent. While we're not in this area very often I would highly recommend this restaurant. Give it a try! read more

I dig this place, the menu is a little "foody" but it's interesting with a smattering of amped up classics and new ideas on the menu. When I went the place was packed to the gills but despite this the food came out in a timely manner and the service was pleasant. I got one of their pizzas , the goat cheese pesto, and it was delicious with a thin crispy crust. my friend got a bratwurst sandwich on a pretzel bun with fresh spicy mustard. it looked and smelled incredible and she thoroughly enjoyed it. As for the bar, they have a billion beers and wines which take up most of the small menu, and they have a good selection of unique cocktails as well which come in quite a tall glass may i add! It's a small (but gorgeous- the vibe is very modern but warm) place that gets really busy so try to plan accordingly. I live a few blocks away and you can see and hear the restaurant and smell the wonderful brick oven. Definitely a great addition to Havertown. read more

Everyone here is very nice. Went here for brunch on a nice day - they had the convertible doors open so we were able to get the breeze but also not get sunburnt. The food was excellent but the selection was a little on the short side. We ordered the specials from the chalkboard and they were delicious. This was my first time a Brick and Brew and I'm glad I finally got to stop in after having it bookmarked for about a year. This place is really cool and rustic on the inside and they offer outside seating which helps spread out the crowd because this place is pretty small. For a Tuesday night, it was packed aside from a couple of seats at the bar and a table outside, which I thought was pretty impressive. Way to get those seats filled B&B! We opted for a seat at the bar. My love had a Scottish beer on tap and I had the Speakeasy, which was pretty to look at and really refreshing. We also tried some food starting with the deviled eggs, which comes with four eggs topped with a mustardy avocado filling and a shrimp, and the fried pickles. The pickles were tasty but a little hard to eat as they were fried thin, long slices of pickles making you have to take quite big bit to be able to eat them. Then we eat got a sandwich: the hub got the Crab PLT, which he enjoyed half of and I had the Guinness braised short rib sandwich which was tasty but after all the snacks I could barely eat half. Also, it should be noted that each sandwich comes with a hefty pile of fries. You will not go hungry here! I'd like to come back again the next time I'm in the area and try some beer. With so many bar/restaurants/pubs to choose from in Havertown, Brick & Brew is a great choice. Was here in late afternoon for a beer and a bite with a friend. Beer selection was eclectic but not so much that a non-beer snob like me couldn't find a good one (a nice Allagash). We had the prosciutto fries and a word of warning...they are really good but very rich. Even us two husky patrons had a tough time finishing it. Service was really friendly and attentive. One suggestion: B&B makes their catsup in-house, and it's more of a A1 Steak Sauce than a catsup. Bring back Heinz! Also be mindful of the on-street parking meters. I like the place, but it's a mixed bag. If you're looking for an overall even experience, don't look here. They really hit the highs and lows. The good ------------- -Beer selection! If you like more than one specific brand of beer and you can't find something you like here, it's just not possible to make you happy. -Decor. I really like what they have done with the place! -Interesting menu and nightly specials. -Prices are reasonable. It's not cheap, but it's not a cheap kind of place. The mixed --------------- -Service. Our waiter was friendly and personable, a really nice guy. We tip those kind of waiters 20%, and that's what he got. As a waiter, though, he was terrible. He didn't write anything down, taking a page from Four Seasons-type of places. Those waiters, though, can remember the order. He made several mistakes on our order. In addition, we asked for two things, and he forgot to bring them. He also neglected to ask us if we needed anything, even when our glasses were empty. Great guy, bad waiter. -One of our salads was drenched with so much dressing that it was inedible. The other salad was good, though. -It's a small place, and the chairs are stools (no backs). If you're a big person or have back trouble, make sure you wait for one of the few booth tables. The bad ------------ -The pizza. It's the worst brick oven pizza I have ever had. Bar none. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say that Chuck E. Cheese's pizza is better. It's a lot better. And Chuck E. Cheese's pizza is not as good as Ellio's frozen pizza. This is terrible pizza. The key ingredient for any well-made pizza is the crust. Their crust is too thin, and it's way undercooked. If I didn't see the oven, I would have guessed that it was cooked in a microwave. It has zero brick oven flavor. Next, the sauce. Oh, the sauce. The sauce on my margherita pizza tasted like canned tomato sauce, and it was sweet. I have eaten margherita pizza in Italy, and let me tell you: this sauce would make an Italian chef cry. The fresh mozzarella was good, though. The misnamed Tomato Pie was better because it had more cheese and less sauce. I agree with a reviewer above: the pizzas are ridiculously small. Next time ------------- The rest of my family doesn't want to go back, but I will. I like the idea of that kind of a restaurant in Havertown, and I want them to succeed. I obviously won't re-order the two pizzas I tried. I think I'll try one of the other pizzas, and I'll make sure it's covered with lots of stuff and less sauce. And, I'll share it with someone instead of making it my main meal. Their specials and sandwich selections look interesting, so maybe they're a safer bet than the pizzas. Good luck, Brick & Brew. I was so excited when this place opened and couldn't wait to try it! My fiancé and I live in Havertown and went there for dinner last night. The ambiance is great, the beer selection was phenomenal , and the menu was very exciting, I wanted to try everything! The staff was friendly too, but unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our meal. The butternut squash soup with crab meat was a squash flavored broth with a little bit of crab meat at the bottom, definitely not what I was expecting. Squash soup is usually thick, puréed squash not watery broth. The flavor was just ok. We also shared the fried pickles. They tasted good, but were very soggy and greasy. We shared the clam white pizza for our entree. I think there was maybe 3 small clams on the whole pizza, and four small dollops of ricotta cheese. It was basically like eating bread! Some slices had no cheese or clams on it, just a very thin layer of the sauce they used. I was still hungry after we ate, broth and bread was not what I wanted for dinner! Good thing the beer was delicious! We sat at the pizza bar, and the guy making the pizzas was very friendly, he apologized for the lack of clams and said they were running low on them. I feel that if you don't have enough ingredients to make an item on the menu, you should not serve it! It's much better to apologize and say you do not have an item on the menu rather than serving a product that is lacking. Also, they only had small bar napkins, not very effective when eating pizza and sandwiches. I was so disappointed! I was hoping this place would be great, it is so close to our house! I'll give it another shot, in hopes we just had bad luck with what we ordered. Hopefully we'll have a better experience next time. These problems can be fixed just by putting a little bit more love into the food! I REALLY want to like this place... I hope the owners can step it up! read more
