My wife and I ate at Brick and Fire Bistro today based upon the reviews on Yelp. We were not disappointed at all. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming. The food was amazing. My wife had a special that consisted of penne pasta, shrimp and brussel sprouts, red pepper and shallot and garlic sauce that was scrumptious. I had the Kobe beef and it was prepared well with a wonderful sauce. The side salads were just the right size and refreshing. It did take a little long for the meal to arrive at the table, but our server brought some bread out to the table. The wait was well worth it for the food we received. I have to agree with Greg C, this is the best restaurant in Eureka, at least the best I've visited. We're anxious to dine during dinner. Highly recommended. read more

Arguably the best restaurant in Eureka and certainly one of the top 5 in Humboldt county. All of the other great reviews for this place are extremely accurate. Tiny little place with maybe 10 or so tables. Do make a reservation. So worth it. Last time we went, we sat at the small 4 seat bar (with local Redwood Curtain brew on tap!!!) directly across from the beautiful brick oven. Just a warning if you sit at the bar. It's quite warm. Luckily the casual atmosphere was fine for my t-shirt and shorts, although I was probably the least dressed up individual in the place. Watching the small but professional kitchen work throughout the meal was a treat and always nice too see who and how your food is made. Highly, highly recommend this place for locals and tourist visiting Humboldt. Sooo tasty. Our check with two delicious entrees and tasty appetizers was less than $80. This place was pretty busy when we got here. They're related to the place Two Doors Down. Same owner but we can't cross order between the places. They also have outside seating which was good for our friends with pets. We ordered the famous bird recommended by the lady. My husband really like it and he said the seasoning on it was tasty with a little kick. However, I thought it was way too salty. The mac and cheese was a little different, with olives and greens, and it was ok. A little pricy at $18. We ordered the oysters but they didn't come and we asked about them several times and eventually they actually didn't charge us for them. food is good but the kitchen needs to get its act together in terms of putting the food out. I wanted one of the pizzas but our server told us it would be over an hour wait... We sat at the bar and the pizza guy was moving like molasses. but there were only 8 tickets in front of him which should have taken 20-30 minutes I'm wondering if he was just new and hadn't got the hang of things but if he was there regular guy then thats a problem. the rest of the kitchen staff didnt appear to be running like a well oiled machine either. there was an older guy in the kitchen who seemed to be supervising while drinking a glass of wine....I asked who it was and it was the owner..... rule #1....kitchen staff shouldnt be drinking on duty and he is setting a bad example. My lovely dining companion and I started with the wild mushroom cobbler and the stuffed calamari, which other reviewers here have recommended. I've never had calamari quite like this! Our entrees were just as delicious. We finished with the chocolate mascarpone cheesecake, which we split. It was exquisite and rich! The wine list is quite good; we enjoyed an Italian pinot grigio, a refreshing light white wine. Do yourself a favor and dine at Brick & Fire! Recently had dinner here while in town visiting some friends who live in the area. It is their favorite spot in Eureka and I can see why. Great selection of micro brews on tap and in the bottle, and some nice wine options if you'd prefer that. I had a bowl of the carrot and coconut milk soup....it was incredible! For my entree I had the Polenta Lasagna which was also quite amazing. My wife had signature pizza with figs on it and it was delicious. The chopped caesar salad was great too. We didn't leave room for dessert unfortunately but hope to visit again and try some. All in all, a fabulous restaurant. You can't go wrong here. read more

Great brick fired pizza (we had the margarita), delicious sides (we had the Brussels sprouts & zucchini), a nice selection of wines, and a fantastic atmosphere. The chocolate truffles were amazing, and the French press coffee was fantastic. Service was warm and very helpful. Open on Sunday, and accommodated us w/out a reservation. Easily five stars except the service (in terms of the wait time for your meal) was extremely slow. If you have time to wait, Brick Fire is well worth it. read more

The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome, which was a highlight. Had two appetizers and entrees, both of which were good. The mushroom appetizer was a bit hard to eat as it was a bit watery and a little under seasoned. That's a minor point though because the steak entree was delicious, and the oven fired game hen was crispy and tasty. We went here last night. They have a lovely wine list, but not knowing this we brought our own. Prices are very reasonable considering the amazing quality. We had to start with the top three appetizers. The stuffed calamari had flavors we were not even familiar with.. How fun! The mushroom cobbler was worth the hype.. Licking the bowl was on my mind.. The baked oysters we thought 6 would be sufficient for the two off us.. We were wrong ;-) 6 more helped us realize the lovely, not overdone, fresh and unique flavour of their local kumamoto's. We had a tough time deciding on a main dish, but finally choose the brick roasted game hen. Wow! The crunchy skin, light sauce and expertly baked fowl was exquisite. Did I mention we sat at the bar, right in front of the kitchen/brick oven and watched their talented staff work like a finely oiled machine. To top off our oral adventure we found room (in a hollow leg) for their UN-dessert. (We named it that) the stuffed, roasted, bacon wrapped figs and plums. One of my most favorite places to dine. Everything is delicious. My faves are the bird and the greens. Even the chamomile tea is special. Their bread pudding rocks. And the wine selection is fabulous. OMG just writing about it all has me thinking I need to visit asap! One thing though that is funny is that I have never seen a place soooooo obsessive about their reservations and seating. They are soooooo precise and controlling we make jokes about it. Finally tried Brick and Fire after hearing about it from friends. It was everything they said it was. The place is small so reservations are advised. Its clean and comfortable. The wait staff was professional and pleasant. I never felt she was in the way or over working the table. My wife and i bought had a chopped Cesar Salad that was very good and larger than i was expecting. My entee was the cold smoked pork loin with mash potatoes and was very good. Even took some home for lunch the next day. My wife had a rockfish with rice pilaf. The fish has a sauce that she said was very good. She didn't care for the pilaf but to be fair, she isn't much of a rice person. The portion sizes were about right especially after having the salads. We finished it off with a Meyer's lemon creme brulee to share and again, excellent. Next time we would consider one of their appetizers , split a salad and may be share a pizza. While we didn't partake they seemed to have an extensive wine list. Enjoyed the evening. Good food and company. The evening cost about $90 including tip. We will be back. read more

My dinner here was one of the best in Eureka so far. The bistro is warm and cozy, if you sit at the bar you can watch the chef and the wood burning oven. The menu is short but tasty and I got the impression is very seasonal. My pork loin dinner was wonderfully seasoned and prepared and the brussel sprout side dish was yummy. WOW!!! This has topped my list of favorite dinners by a mile! As a chef of 17 years, it is almost impossible to get all of my senses engaged in a meal. From the moment we were greeted and sat, I knew we were in for a treat! Our server, Tina, made us feel so comfortable and invited as if we had known each other for years. The menu and wine descriptions were so seductively written, I had a feeling we couldn't go wrong with whatever we chose to order and I was right! We had the Snake River American Kobe Beef Fettina Steak, which was out of this world, paired with a 2013 South American Carmenere. Beautiful perfection!
