My friends and I went for my birthday dinner last night and we weren't disappointed! One friend had the salmon special (cooked perfectly..sauce was amazing!), the other the bacon blue burger (best bun she's ever had, burger was super juicy) and I had the "Pig" - which is hands down the best mac and cheese I've ever tasted!!! Super cute place for a super cute town! I went on a Saturday night and found out most tables were reserved. Luckily, I went early enough around 5:30PM and they had 2 spots at the bar/counter. The menu is small but enough, and only complimented by the specials that our waiter read out to us. There were a good amount of dishes so make sure to pay attention haha. I also heard their menu changes ever so often, so hopefully the next time I visit they'll have different offerings. We ordered a Bolo and a special pork chop. The bolo tasted a lot of store bought spaghetti sauce. The noodles were a lot thicker than usual, which was a nice surprise. Overall a solid and safe dish. We also ordered a pork chop, which tasted like a steak. The seasoning was perfect, and it was paired with some of the best roasted potato chunks with bacon. Smalls has such a flair in the kitchen for amazing food and amazing service. Me and my wife were looking for a dog friendly place to eat and Smalls was gracious enough to let us come in with ours . Mind you our dogs are very well behaved so we were just grateful for them allowing us. They even brought out a dog bowl for water . The vibe was just really beautiful and decorated beautifully. It's perfect for date nights or family dinners. Service was amazing, we had Emma and Matt, between them both we were taken care of from all angles. The food was pretty delicious , I got their chicken artichoke... the sauce was amazing, the chicken was tender, the shrimp was delicious. My wife got the eggplant parmigiana, she absolutely love the eggplant and but she said the sauce and the pasta was ok. She did enjoy it overall. We closed it all off with their Colombian coffee creme brulee. The flavors were there but the custard did not sit appropriately... so it was a little more liquid and warm. The flavors were there so we enjoyed it. We love the heart that Smalls has in its ambitious nature and know they will only grow from here. If we lived in the area this would probably be a regular for us to go to. It seems like the chef loves to try new things and have new specials so you just can't go wrong with that. read more

A very small but yet cozy restaurant in Eureka and to be honest, probably the only place I can recommend. If I were ever to return to Euerka, it would be to come here lol. (Not a fan of Euerka at ALL.) We loved all our dishes. My favorite though was the mushroom toast. Least favorite was the Cajun Mac & Cheese. Still ok but not much creamy cheese. I suggest making reservations!! Crazy busy, especially today on a Friday dinner rush. Quality/Quantity - We got lucky! As we got here, a nice lady gave up her counter top seating so we would not have to wait, THANK you! So today we got the following: Dirty Beto Burger - My daughter's option, and it was a home run; well ALL of our dishes were a home run! Bolo Pasta - My wife's order, another good dish. I just would have preferred more. Just being greedy. LOL. And I got more wings for my dinner (had wings for lunch also at Viethai in Santa Rosa; see other 5 star reviews). Actually, these wings were even better (slightly better). The flavor, slight kick, etc. And to wash it all down, I got the local Mad River Brewing Steelhead Extra Pale Ale. So smooth and refreshing, especially in a frosted glass. All orders were made to order, so please be patient. Ambiance - Very small local business. Service - 6 stars. From Matty, our very experienced waiter to the owner chef. Matty was so professional, I actually enjoyed watching him work. Work the tables, train the day-one waitress, communicate with the chef, etc. So impressive. Price - $65 + generous tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since opening in mid 2025. No parking - no lot or street parking. Small portion sizes. Waiter was staring me down but wouldn't make eye contact with my partner the entire meal? Super weird vibe and made me uncomfortable. Lingcod slightly underdone and only two pieces of asparagus. I don't expect much from humboldt restaurants and this one continues the trend. A funny note, they had a veal special going and the other waiter asked a table, "Do you know what veal is? It's BABY COW." The restaurant is located in a place where you might overlook but it's a hidden gem. Really cute and cozy inside and the food! Everything we tried was 10 out of 10, the chicken was cooked perfectly--not too dry at all. Mashed potatoes were amazing, asparagus had a really good grilled flavor and the crab fat wings! The restaurant was super busy when we walked in and we were afraid we weren't going to be able to eat at this amazing place. We were so lucky that we did, the food was absolutely amazing. We ordered the crabfat chicken wings which were perfect. I loved the hint of crabfat and spice and the crispy chicken. We also ordered the squash pasta and pork belly which was one of their specials for the night. Have staying at Eureka for the last couple days during my camping trips by the redwoods and wow as someone from SoCal this joint's comfort food has cured my homesickness & made me feel like I was in Laguna Beach again. The inside has a very warm & cozy feel with a more rustic interior complimenting the outside environment of eureka. The service has been great at describing the meals and kept the ship tight. The lamb meatballs were terrific & super saturating. The Gruyère, brothy gravey, parsley, and caramelized onions added a rich & savory taste. While the meatballs themselves were packed in a more spiced flavor, from what I'm assuming was coriander/or cloves. Not much to say about the garlic bread that paired with the gravy terrifically as garlic bread never disappoints lol. Had the coffee creme brûlée for dessert and the custard tasted like tiramisu made into pudding. Could not have had a better meal during my journey through NorCal so far :) read more

Found this little gem in the middle of a very busy street and decided to give them a try. So glad we did. The place is small but done simply but nicely to make it a charming comfortable place to be. Went here based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. The place is small, but what it lacks in location, it makes up for in charm, comfort, and flavor. Being a Tuesday evening, it was slow and uncrowded. Our service was attentive, but not overbearing. Our meals were delicious. We got the Winter Pig Mac which was a curly pasta covered in a delicious and rich (but not overpowering) cheese sauce, butternut squash, and succulent morsels of tender pork. We also had the special of the night which was a chopped beef sandwich made with chopped ground beef, lettuce, tomato, and pickles with a scrumptious dressing with a little kick of horseradish. My description does not do this sandwich justice. Sometimes the simplicity allows for more of the essence to shine through. We chased this all down with Humboldt Ciders of which they have a nice selection. For dessert we shared a chocolate mocha creme brûlée which was divine! A decadent rich dark chocolate creme with a perfectly crunchy chocolate sugar topping which was torched just enough to elude to a burnt flavor without ruining the experience. We give all meals 10/10. Great new (opened May 2025) eatery in Eureka. We chanced by this spot on our way to find lunch and we were not disappointed. Great food, friendly service and the space is cute and full of interesting art. Kind of on the small side so if you're bringing a bigger group than 4, you might want to call ahead. We got the Bizniscut and the frittatas, super tasty and the side of potato's was perfectly cooked. They only serve brunch on Sunday, check out the pic for dinner hours. We can't wait to go back to try more items on the menu. Great new spot with amazing eats, my biscuit was light, the chicken perfectly fried with a light honey drizzle & a couple slices of ham to round out that salty sweet combo. Had a refreshing iced tea but we spied a nice vino selection to go with the dinner menu. Parking off to the side is a good idea as it's on 5th St/101 northbound. read more

Our aunt was visiting last weekend from Redding, and she had heard about Smalls Fusion Comfort, and suggested we go there! We didn't know that we should have gotten a reservation... Fortunately, they were able to squeeze us in! We all ordered different things, I got the Chicken Cacciatore! We also shared two of the desserts... Everything was so well prepared! The flavors were balanced. The portions were good. Service was prompt and good. Nice selection of wines to choose from! We look forward to returning! Definitely need to get reservations! read more

An all-over perfect, delicious restaurant! Wait staff greeted us and, though the restaurant was full, we were seated promptly because we had a reservation (strongly advised). We started with the Warm Winter Salad, a perfect blend of vegetables, crunch, and tangy dressing. I could eat this salad everyday and gotta try to duplicate it at home. We each had a nightly special: Salmon and Pork Chop. The excellent Salmon came with perfectly cooked asparagus and a delicious pesto penne pasta. The tender Pork Chop was complimented with a savory mushroom gravy and perfectly seasoned steak fries. We could eat dinner here every night! read more

I love everything about the new addition to our restaurant scene. The humble, small front of the house is cozy and welcoming while still giving you privacy and room to visit. The servers are friendly and curious with the right balance of making you feel welcome but giving you space. We have returned several times and every dish has been on-point! They use fresh local ingredients and let diners know when local goods are used. The menu reminds me of eating out in New Orleans. I had the rockfish special it was served with broccolini, mushrooms and spinach and was seasoned perfectly. My wife had the chicken special served with mashed potatoes, shrimp, broccolini and artichokes. I snuck a bite and really enjoyed it. Passing through and tried Smalls based on Yelp reviews. It lived up to its 5 star rep. The Crabfat Chicken Wings were crispy, the right amount of spicy and with a hint of crab - a fan fav. My 2Beet Salad met my craving for healthy and savory veggies. My son's Special Burger included a fried crab cake with macaroni. I don't know how they did it, but each dish was a taster's delight. With four of us sharing, we were able to order a number of items off both the main menu and the specials list. The dragon balls were our favorite off the main menu, although the meatballs and bolo we're also delicious. We had the lamb special and the market vegetables. The lamb came with blue cheese mash potatoes. So good! We all agreed it was our favorite. The market vegetables came in a delicious sauce over grits. Again, amazing! Our desserts -- peach cobbler with ice cream and chocolate cake -- were inspired as well. I'll also note that our server was eager to know what we thought, saying that the chef wanted feedback. I get the feeling this place will only get better with time. Do not miss that excellent new restaurant! I didn't know it existed until I drove by one evening and saw people inside. Cozy Bistro Brunch. Although the servings were on the smaller side they were just the right portions. We ordered the Bzniskit and Huevos Verde y Jamon ( green eggs and ham). Both were delicious. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The green chili gravy was flavorful and not spicy. Different and delicious. The beets prepared in two ways was the first dish and it obviously made with great care and attention to flavor and detail. The mac was creamy a bit spicy and awesome . The burger was juicy and flavorful. The bucatini was decadent. The lamb chop was tender and cooked to perfection. And the Halibut special was a great dish.
