We chose this place as we wanted to watch the KU game with friends. We usually look for sports bars that have a lot of TVs and good bar food menu so we were excited to try this place out. We ordered the burnt end nachos and liked them a lot. Just not alot of food for 4 people so I would recommend for 2. My daughter loves the steak salad and the wraps. I ordered the Prime rib sandwich and asked is I could get medium rare and the waitress said it comes out medium. It was pretty flavorless and dry so I had to use the horseradish sauce to make it taste ok. Will probably try another sandwich or wrap next time. We do like the service and that we can hear the main game being shown at the time instead of loud music. We will definitely be back.

This place has outlived many bar and grille restaurants on the Plaza such as Tom Fooleries and Fred P Otts. However, today, I'm not sure what part of my visually appealing salad was sub-par. And that is a generous way of putting it because I'm pretty sure either the egg, dairy laden dressing, or cheese was spoiled. That's a shame. Especially since it's one of the only remaining restaurants of its typle on the Plaza with an iconic corner spot. But, overall, the salad was tasty while being eaten and looked vibrant and fresh, arriving at the table. My lunch companions dish also had a standout presentation, with the salmon being light pink and grilled on top of a bed of fluffy rice and arranged asparagus. However, speaking more of my salad... again, it tasted good while I was munching away on it, but something didn't agree with me not too long after. The steak itself was juicy, tender, and cooked just a tad over medium, but since it was so buttery, I didn't mind. Again, I'm not sure what part of the steak gorgonzola salad wasn't right this time around, but my guess would be the egg or maybe the amount of shredded cheese with the combination of the rich thick creamy dressing was too much dairy for my stomach. But, I wasn't feeling right less than an hour after eating it. So, I hope it was a me error and not a kitchen error. Regardless, I won't order this again. Another note regarding experience, the restaurant is set up like a spot where you could catch a game (I went to watch the Royals game) but, it would have been nice if the windows were open to let some fresh air in since the attached small outdoor patio doesn't have any TVs and I know they've open the windows in the past all the way to allow some outside air in. I won't write off the Grandfalloon from this meal but, I will not make the same mistake twice, and the Steak Gorgonzola Salad is off the list for me. One strike your out buddy! There's many more things to try next time I find myself craving a casual American meal on the Country Club Plaza

We walked in for happy hour and it was very loud so we decided to sit on the patio. Their were a few people smoking some cigarettes so that did bother our table a little bit. Granfalloon does offer some pretty good happy hour deals for well drinks and half priced appetizers. We went with the Thursday pizza special and split that between two of us. It was very filling and I would recommend trying it. We did have to wait an hour for the pizza but at least it was tasty.

Came here with some colleagues! Great food and very versatile menu to suit any crowd. The place got fairly busy while we were there. They seemed a bit understaffed. But they did the best they could to serve everyone. Definitely recommend!

Getting off a plane late at night and needing something good to eat....this is your spot. My brother brought us here to satisfy our hunger and I will say it was pretty good. Service was great and the vibe was cool. It was actually pretty packed for a weekday. Which actually may be the norm considering I'm not from here. I love a good ranch and this ranch did not disappoint nor did the honey mustard!

The food was incredible. I wasn't even that hungry but devoured the entire pasta. The service was extremely quick to the point I was surprised that it was actually our food they were bringing. The atmosphere is a very run of the mill sports bar vibe but it did feel a tad more upscale still.

I love this place on the Plaza. Perfect for lunch or dinner. We walked here on Chiefs game day and were able to find a spot upstairs. There were 2 servers helping out and constantly checking in on us. Our food came out fast and hot and our drinks were never empty. I think prices are fair for location and amount of food. I wish there were more game day bars on the Plaza. Glad to see this place is doing well!

Had a little nice outdoor patio moment. Food was good and atmosphere was chill! Would go again for a drink with the girlies.

Granfalloon is my top spot to grab a delicious meal or cold beverage in the plaza. It's a great place to go to watch a game, with friends for drinks, after work hangout with coworkers and/or a date! Every meal has unbelievably fresh ingredients. I highly recommend starting with the nachos...the freshly grated cheese was a great touch! You can't go wrong ordering the classic Fallon Burger with a side of either the Brussel sprouts or the fries.

Came to Kansas City over the recent holidays to visit some friends, and Beer Kitchen came as a…read morelocal recommended place. Good food, good vibes, good beer selection, I was sold. So we loaded up and showed up one day around Noon. Ambiance was really cool. It's in the middle of some sort of progressive looking shanty-esque suburb. The kind of place that does drag queen bingo. I was right at home. Inside was college sport bar, but with a nice, huge board on the wall of all their beer selection. It Was quite expansive. Service was top notch, too. Nice server took care of us, made sure our glasses were never empty. The food came out at a good clips, and we got an unexpected bonus of free little beignet-like donuts with some delicious dipping sauces. As for food, we started off with a jumbo order of the Truffle Parmesan Hand-Cut Fries for the table. We got to choose two from their extensive list of aioli dipping sauces. Fries were good. Dusted with the perfect amounts of truffle and parmesan. And the sauces were my oh my. I recommend paying the upcharge to just try them all. I mentioned the time earlier, because we had no idea we were stumbling upon their brunch menu. Even more options to choose from! I got the Crispy Waffle Smash Burger (smashed hertzog beef patties, fried egg, smoked bacon, merkt's cheddar, caramelized onion, maple aioli, crispy buttermilk waffle). This thing was really nice. Perfect waffle, not too small, not too big, and no oily or anything obtrusive. A nice bun option. Eggs and bacon sometime get lost against giant burger patties, but with these smash patties, the extra accoutrements really stand out and make this burger really stand out in my mind. I also for the try the Smokestack Burger (smoked burnt ends, smoked gouda, whiskey bbq glaze, pickle relish, chipotle aioli & crispy jalapeño straws). Uhhh, as you can read, this thing was loaded with goodness. Fatty burger, smokey burnt ends, sweet boozy glaze, acidic pickles, and texture from that jalapeno. This was the perfect burger. I insist you order this. Overall, my research did not reveal Beer Kitchen to me, locals recommendation did. Shows that you gotta use your street smarts instead of your book smarts sometimes. Best meal I had in Kansas City.

The restaurant was…read morepretty busy when we arrived, so we chose to sit at the bar rather than wait for a table near the entrance. We started with the Mini Cheddar Biscuits to share, which come with four biscuits. They were excellent--fluffy on the inside with a slightly crispy exterior. The cheddar flavor hit first, followed by a touch of sweetness from the honey, and the combination worked really well. For my meal, I ordered the Fried Chicken, substituted the mashed potatoes for mac and cheese, and added a side of collard greens. The fried chicken was absolutely amazing, perfectly seasoned and fried. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and cheesy with a nice crunch from the breadcrumb topping. The collard greens were some of the best I've ever had. They had a great smoky flavor and were well-seasoned without being overly salty. The only downside to the experience was the service toward the end of our meal. We sat for around 15 minutes waiting for the bartender to come by so we could get drink refills and the check. We eventually had to wave them down, even though they were working right in front of us. Overall, the food was outstanding and easily made up for the minor service issue. I'll definitely be returning to try more of the menu.

He smiled and said half price wine! Our server was attentive, but he ordered the food all together instead of coursing it out. I should have asked for half of mine to come out early as we were sharing. The tacos were ok, good flavor, but basic presentation. The Fries were delicious, the Brussels and Cauliflower were awesome. The Hawaiian Ribeye was also good, cooked perfectly, good flavor, but the chilled cucumber salad on a warm plate was an interesting choice... We were off to a show, so we didn't have time for dessert.

The photos looked amazing, and this place has solid reviews so I was walking in with a certain expectation. What was remarkable is how it was even better than I thought it would be. Let's start with the ambiance. The actual cafe is very small but charming. If it's cold or rainy outside you might need to skip Le Champion unless it's not busy as I think only a few folks can really fit inside. The inside is well designed though, and feels charming without being overwhelming. What stole the show for me though was the patio. As someone who studied abroad in France it felt so French to me in the best way. To me, it feels like taking a Parisian cafe and mixing it with a hip KC bar - it doesn't feel necessarily exactly like one or the other, but it compliments both and feels uniquely it's own in the best way possible. On the day I visited it was absolutely gorgeous outside and I had one of the best breakfast burritos of my life, mostly due to their chimichurri sauce. I also pretty much add a star for any place that keeps espresso tonic on the menu. Overall I love Le Champion and can't wait to return.

There are also a few other bars and restaurants close by and I often forget about that area as being a destination so, I'll have to go out there more often. It has a nice laid back feel. The inside of the restaurant is clean and the bar area is spacious, it wasn't crowded so I had plenty of space to sit solo for a late lunch. The menu isn't the most inventive, just good old fashioned bar food. However, to me that really hits the spot a lot of the time, I don't need all the frills all the time. They had a good selection of appetizers as well as sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and daily specials. I was craving a BLT. Usually the Peanut is my go-to but I must say Tower Tavern may now take top spot. Especially for the price...$10?! Yes please. Also, I am a sucker for homemade potato chips so I loved to see that as the side option. The bacon was crispy not flabby and sad, it had the perfect salty bite. The shredded cheese made me so happy because it was generously piled on the texture is just nostalgic to me. The tomato was overpowering, sometimes a soggy thick slice of tomato can ruin a BLT for me. I will definitely be back to Tower Tavern to use my Pub Pass and to try some more food. If you're looking for a very solid bar with very solid bar food I would say give it a try! The prices are right, the beer was flowing, and the food was tasty and executed right.
