We chose this place as we wanted to watch the KU game with friends. We usually look for sports bars that have a lot of TVs and good bar food menu so we were excited to try this place out. We ordered the burnt end nachos and liked them a lot. Just not alot of food for 4 people so I would recommend for 2. My daughter loves the steak salad and the wraps. I ordered the Prime rib sandwich and asked is I could get medium rare and the waitress said it comes out medium. It was pretty flavorless and dry so I had to use the horseradish sauce to make it taste ok. Will probably try another sandwich or wrap next time. This place has outlived many bar and grille restaurants on the Plaza such as Tom Fooleries and Fred P Otts. However, today, I'm not sure what part of my visually appealing salad was sub-par. And that is a generous way of putting it because I'm pretty sure either the egg, dairy laden dressing, or cheese was spoiled. That's a shame. Especially since it's one of the only remaining restaurants of its typle on the Plaza with an iconic corner spot. But, overall, the salad was tasty while being eaten and looked vibrant and fresh, arriving at the table. My lunch companions dish also had a standout presentation, with the salmon being light pink and grilled on top of a bed of fluffy rice and arranged asparagus. However, speaking more of my salad... again, it tasted good while I was munching away on it, but something didn't agree with me not too long after. The steak itself was juicy, tender, and cooked just a tad over medium, but since it was so buttery, I didn't mind. Again, I'm not sure what part of the steak gorgonzola salad wasn't right this time around, but my guess would be the egg or maybe the amount of shredded cheese with the combination of the rich thick creamy dressing was too much dairy for my stomach. But, I wasn't feeling right less than an hour after eating it. So, I hope it was a me error and not a kitchen error. Regardless, I won't order this again. Another note regarding experience, the restaurant is set up like a spot where you could catch a game (I went to watch the Royals game) but, it would have been nice if the windows were open to let some fresh air in since the attached small outdoor patio doesn't have any TVs and I know they've open the windows in the past all the way to allow some outside air in. I won't write off the Grandfalloon from this meal but, I will not make the same mistake twice, and the Steak Gorgonzola Salad is off the list for me. One strike your out buddy! We walked in for happy hour and it was very loud so we decided to sit on the patio. Their were a few people smoking some cigarettes so that did bother our table a little bit. We met a friend here to watch a Chiefs game and my oh my, it was a party! The place is cool and has a fun vibe but it's so loud! We couldn't carry on a conversation and we were seated at a small hi-top. We didn't eat a meal but did order some cocktails and charcuterie. They were great. After much back and forth decided on the Habanero Express Burger with Brussel Sprouts as the side and a house salad. Their red pepper salad dressing was delicious. I ordered the hummus with veggies and pita, and was a little alarmed when it came out with dried out carrot sticks (like wrinkly and white) and celery. (It looked like it had been sitting out for...maybe hours? Since that morning?) The pita bread was fine, but right out of the bag. The hummus was absolutely flavorless. As my friend gave me a hard time about being midwestern nice and not sending it back, I tried to doctor it with some salt and was on the verge of asking for hot sauce when our attentive server asked if it was OK. When I told her it was "kinda awful," she brought out some fries. They were edible, but soaked through with oil, soft, and soggy. Drinks that are cheap and strong? Heck yes! I've visited the Granfalloon a few times and always had a blast! Their cocktails are extremely reasonably priced, especially considering how strong they are. The best part is that they're so delicious that you hardly notice. The first time I came by, I had the Gin Blossom and my date had the Ruby Fizz. The second time, I had the 608 Cosmo and my date had the sangria. Each drink was an adventure in itself, and I'm excited to try the rest of the menu! The only thing that seemed off is that none of the servers looked very happy.
