    Sangrias and a casamigo shot
    Rachel H.

Was here for a bday get together on a Saturday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pretty large restaurant/bar with a nice menu of food and cocktails.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're looking to have a nice size gathering where there are drinks, food and TVs, this is your place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered the Knockoit shrimp and they were good. Also ordered a Sangria and it was good as well. Prices were fair and comparable to other restaurant/bars. It started to pick up because of the NCAA games that were on so service was a bit slow hence the reason for the star reduction.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a really cozy well managed tavern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server Heather was excellent. She made good suggestions and didn't rush us. Everything came out in a timely manner and was flavorful. I appreciated the gluten friendly menu which is one of the reasons we chose this restaurant. The only small pet-peeve is that there are no prices on the drinks or specials menu. We were kind of surprised at the $24 price of the "special" burger so it is a good thing it was so good.

Great place with great food. The service was great and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the restaurant had a lot of booths which were very big.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The portions are huge as you can see so you get a lot of food for the money. The limited time Turkey Reuben was Awesome and I loved the fact it didn't have sauerkraut as that is what I don't like. They had a sweet coleslaw instead which made the sandwich phenomenal. Strongly recommend!

My family comes here once a year right before we do the Illumination lights, and we come in hot with a group of around 20 because we keep growing every year! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance and Service is fantastic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wide open open space with many seating options.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's more of a dining room sitting area when you first walk in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Have couches/ tables behind the fireplace, which are a nice relaxing spit to have a beer, some appetizers, and watch the games on all the flat screens on the wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have a bar area to sit in, and a back room used more for big parties.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Honestly, the place is a great spot for all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only thing holding them back is the food. If they can bring the flavors up a bit , it would be a 5 star all around. The top 3 things that my family always get are the Chicken Pot pie, the huge pretzel, and the philly.

Went with my bestie and the food was delicious! Staff was friendly. I ordered the shrimp po-boy and sweet potato hush puppies & strawberry lemonade. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bathroom very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

What a fun lunch at Brick House! While I've never dined in before I was treated to a fun and quite enjoyable experience! The vibe here is boozy times with friends. Their booths are spacious and there are many. There is a roaring fire that still maintains a hint of intimacy in this establishment. My server was Joseph and he was very sweet. Since I dined alone he was sure to give me space, but at the same time willing to accommodate my requests. I started with the Giant Pretzel, and giant it was! This pretzel could easily have fed a family of 4 all in itself. At $11 it makes for a very reasonable priced appetizer. The accompaniments were White Queso and Siracha Ranch which both were delicious with the salty, warm pretzel. I had to stop myself from finishing the whole thing in one sitting! My main entree included the Beyond Burger. I appreciate the toppings on this mammoth burger as it includes cheese, grilled peppers, grilled onions, chipotle aioli, pickles, lettuce, and tomato. The patty was very thick, making it worth its' $18 price tag. It also came with the options of fries or tots. I went with the tots which arrived fresh. While the burger wasn't my favorite, I would return for the pretzel and ambiance alone. I would like to try their other appetizers or another vegetarian option. However, I believe the Beyond is the only vegetarian option. Would love to hang here on a date night or with friends, as this place is pretty cool. I will return.

    Cuban sandwich and fries

Ordered the Cuban sandwich with fries. The picture in the menu looked a lot better than what served. What a sad presentation when my food arrived, and to top it off, the food was cold. Not my best experience but the my bartender/ server was extremely friendly and was working her tail off to make everyone enjoy their evening.

This huge tavern had a roaring warm fireplace and brick appointments and lots of tvs. The restaurant was clean with friendly staff. I was with a group of 16 and we didn't have to wait long. The staff pushed some tables together and we were seated. I noticed my group enjoyed the beer. One person ordered a huge pretzel which was good for photos. I ordered a savory chicken pot pie which was delicious with rosemary in an iron clad pan. I couldn't finish it because there was so much food. I got a styrofoam container. The staff didn't wear masks. I hope that the restaurant considers more environmental containers and serving filtered water.

First time here, interesting layout. Food was great, service was very sub-par. Our water filled once, our server never came around to grab our dirty plates after our apps. Just sat at edge of table entire time. Honestly, place wasn't that busy. Our server was very dull, never introduced herself. Just not friendly. I also left my hat in our booth. Called immediatley when I arrived home. Manager explained nobody turned anything in. I called the following day and same Manager said nothing was turned in. (I get it, I lost it) however, I asked if they could see the camera..I had the receipt for our table location and time we left so it would be easily accesible to view. The Manager related that their systems were down and didn't have access to cameras. Find it hard to believe/very concerning their cameras don't work. Either way, lost a nice hat here and definitley not getting it back.

THE USUAL SUSPECTS…read more This dive bar in Lisle is a haven for townies, which is certainly a vibe. Maple Ave Pub is, unsurprisingly, on Maple Ave just west of Route 53 in the western suburbs of Chicago. I'd estimate I've stopped here close to a dozen times, although a handful of those instances I neglected to check-in on Yelp for fear of my wife seeing it ("I thought you were coming straight home from work....") An older woman's been behind the counter seemingly every time, taking drink orders and making small talk. She's friendly--moreso with the locals than with me--and I'll occasionally get called 'hun', 'sweetie', etc, which is endearing. I got way better service from the hot tattooed barkeeps at Brauer House in Lombard, however. To be perfectly honest, I've never eaten anything here. The wings look like they might pass muster, though there's a few items that raise an eyebrow (clam chowder at a dive bar? thanks, I'll pass). Possum Pub in Melrose Park had surprisingly good food, and it was a major dive, so perhaps I ought to give the grub here a shot sometime. They have several pool tables, a Big Buck Hunter, Golden Tee, dart board, boxing machine, and pair of pinball machines; as of 6/19/24 they've got a Star Trek premium (Stern, 2013) and JAWS (Stern, 2024). In the past they had Oktoberfest (American Pinball, 2018), Fish Tales (Williams, 1992), and a stunning Circus Voltaire (Bally, 1997). Last week, the A/C wasn't working so this place was SWELTERING on one of the hottest days of the year. Normally I stick around for a couple pints and 2-3 games of pinball, but it was so toasty inside (worse than outside) I only played 1 game and skipped the beer completely. There were no fans on, either. * TL;DR * Dive bars are all well and good, but maybe it's time I found a new spot to hit up for a cheap domestic pint. Over the years I've gotten a handful of looks that can be described as quizzical at best, and dirty at worst. I've been ignored by the bartender numerous times--with cash in hand, mind you--while she's chatting away with regulars, as I'm standing there absolutely parched. I want to like Maple Ave Pub, but the feeling doesn't seem mutual. If it weren't for the pinball tables, I probably wouldn't return.

I ordered from Entourage Downers Grove and was honestly impressed with how well everything held up for delivery. The standout for me was the lobster bisque. It arrived at the perfect temperature, which is pretty impressive for delivery. The bisque was rich and luscious without feeling overly heavy, and the basil oil added a nice brightness that balanced the creaminess beautifully. It also had a generous amount of lobster, including several large chunks, and was a very solid portion overall. The filet mignon sliders were another highlight. Each slider had a substantial piece of filet mignon topped with pickled onions, microgreens, and horseradish cream on brioche buns. The onions and horseradish added enough acidity and bite to balance the richness of the beef without overpowering it. I also tried the Vietnamese summer rolls, filled with roasted shiitake mushrooms, fresh vegetables, and rice noodles, served with both peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce. Everything tasted very fresh, and the sauces complemented the generously stuffed rolls nicely. My only small critique is that cutting them in half made for a prettier presentation, but made them a little awkward to dip and eat. Overall, this was a surprisingly strong delivery experience, and I would absolutely order from them again, or better yet, make it over to the restaurant itself next time I'm in the area.

It's my go‑to spot for a classic Fish Fry, and after years of coming here, it still never disappoints. We arrived a little after 5:30 p.m. on a Friday and, as expected, only waited about five minutes. The moment you step inside, you're met with a lively bar scene--TVs tuned to various games, tall tables lining both sides, and a steady buzz of conversation. People are eating, drinking, and genuinely enjoying themselves. What surprised me most was how many families were there, even with infants and toddlers in tow. And honestly, it was great to see. The kids were calm, the parents looked relaxed, and the whole place had this easygoing, everyone's‑welcome energy. We sat in the back, and the table was cleaned quickly. Our server Heather brought menus, though we already knew exactly what we wanted. The menu has a big selection, but for us it was three orders of the Fish Fry. You can substitute sides--sweet potato fries, tots, or onion rings--and the meal comes with hush puppies and coleslaw. Drinks and water arrived promptly, and the entrées followed soon after, piping hot. The fried fish was flaky and flavorful--nothing like the heavy, all‑batter, no‑fish situation you get at some places. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. We asked for refills and they arrived almost instantly. I'm already looking forward to coming back once the weather warms up so we can enjoy the patio. This place continues to be a reliable, welcoming spot with great food and an even better atmosphere.
