Let me begin by saying this was a first time for the purchase of a gown this costly. So, I will…read moreput some of the onus on my naivety. This gown was being purchased for an upcoming wedding I was attending. They had only a couple dresses in the color needed. One was a 4T in size and one was an 18. I am a size 10. When I asked why the gowns were so large, the sales lady said they make them larger because most people want to alter the dress to a tailored fit. Ok, sounded reasonable. I ended up purchasing the Size 18. They gave me a couple of options of where to get the gown altered. After initialing that the sale was final and sold as-is, I went to the alteration lady that same day. She told me they sold a dress way too big and altering it would be hard because it would change the design of the dress. When I explained to the lady what the sales person had told me, she said that was a complete lie. She had other experiences where they had sold dresses without consideration of if/how the dress could be downsized. Thankfully, she can work with the dress. However, the amount of work is expensive as well. I will end up having almost $500.00 in this gown. Bottom line: Don't go to University Bridal. My belief is they have no integrity and that is sad when it comes to a dress for such a happy event.

Last weekend ( January 25-26, 2018), My mother and I drove from Albuquerque, NM (6 almost 7hr away)…read moreto University Bridals & Formals for an appointment I had made about 10 days prior. We drove this far for a specific dress, and for that reason alone. I couldn't find this specific dress anywhere else that was closer to where I live. As I am on my way for my appointment, which was in 10 minutes. The owner (Holly)calls me to inform me that a bride who had come in previously and tried on the dress I had scheduled an appointment for had just come in an bought the dress for her wedding in 3 weeks. I was so disoriented as a bride, I had just traveled so far with an appointment for that dress specifically and I didn't know what to say. After the short conversation and finishing up with I will see you soon, I hung up and told my mother what had just happened. I did not know how to feel, as I was shocked someone would sell a dress 10 minutes before someone's appointment for that specific dress, incredibly angry, and also ready to ball my eyes out because I had been searching for this dress for so long and traveled most of the night to get there to try it on. How did the owner really think it was ok to sell it when there was an appointment with another bride for it? What was the point of my appointment? Didn't that matter to the owner?! Why couldn't the other bride wait till my appointment was over so I could at least get to try it on for the appointment I made for it? I could of always ordered in since my wedding isn't for another 4 months and that bride could then have it for hers. As we got to the store, I parked and immediately started texting my fiancé what just happened. Since I was driving I couldn't tell him sooner. My mom goes into the store to right away speak with the owner. As I shortly followed the conversation is still going on and my mother brings up how horrible that was to do to a bride. The store owner refuses to believe she did wrong, says she had to think of the bride. That she has a 24hour hold policy on her dresses, and that she would of lost business. My mother retorts saying but she wasn't thinking about this bride(meaning me), that she could still lose business, and that if I had the appointment didn't that mean it should of been held under mind name and shouldn't of been sold to the other bride. We ended up staying for the original scheduled appointment, we had driven so far, there was no way I was not going to at least try on some dresses. Luckily i was helped by the store manager whose name slips my mind, but it starts with a K. Under the uncomfortable circumstances she did an amazing job at helping me and try to fix what had been done and I'd like to thank her and she's the only reason this place got 2 stars from me. I did end up finding a beautiful dress there and bought it. But there was never an apology from the owner, there was no remorse. It was a stressful rollercoaster of emotion that no bride deserves to go through from any bridal store. The store itself was clean and bright. I loved all the mirrors around in order to really get a view of the dress from all angles. There was also a beautiful selection of dresses there. But the service given by the owner specifically is not worth dealing with as a bride.

I went in to order a dress Saturday March 8th, of which I made a deposit check for. I called her…read morethe following Thursday the 13th to make sure the dress was ordered since my check had already been cashed, the owner Vicky Carrasco, then told me she was glad I called because the company didn't have my dress size. Mind you, this was FIVE days after I had been in and THREE days after she had already cashed my check! So I went back to her store that Thursday to place a second order. She told me that she had to place the order the next day because the company she orders from was already closed. So I left there, only to find a dress at Dillard's that following Sunday. I called her back early Monday morning so that she could put a halt on my order and asked if I could return the dress and possibly get a refund. She then said all sales were final and that the dress could arrive at any moment and that it was mine. NOTHING was done on her part to try and keep my business and in fact at one point when I was talking to her over the phone while I was expressing my grievance with this said policy she sat the phone down in the middle of our conversation to help someone in the store. She then picked up the phone and asked me if I was still talking?! While trying to resolve this matter, she hung up on me THREE times and said she had nothing to say to me. I have since contacted the Better Business Bureau and I am in the process of filing a police report. She has not contacted me since the afternoon of March 17th to correct this matter and she still had my $95! I will never do business with her again and I hope everyone thinks twice before going to her store. If you have to, get EVERYTHING in writing!!!! She is shady and has NO BUSINESS SENSE at all!
