Brides for a Cause was a great experience. I was unsure of what to expect when I booked the appointment, but I was very impressed with their organization and selections available in my size. I took my mom, sister and friend with me and we had a great time being able to dig through the dresses and try them on. The dressing room area is small and has multiple groups going on at once, but it made for a more communal vibe, and we all talked and tried on dresses together. So fun! The best part though was easily the value. I found a dress that was extremely close to what I was looking for less than $200, which would have easily been 10x that price if I had found it at a boutique. It needs some alterations but that is to be expected, and I feel so much better about the cost that the alterations because I was able to find it for such an affordable price. Made a last minute appt for Black Friday and was lucky enough to get a 10am slot. Tbh I was not expecting to find a dress. I just wanted this experience with my daughter while we were on vacation in Cali. As this was my first time ever trying on dresses I was a bit overwhelmed. The staff was nice, very available and hands off (unless you needed them) which I really appreciated. I fell in love with (I mean tears) and ended up buying the 8th dress I tried on along with a veil that my daughter picked out. The total price was unbelievable. Ever since I heard about Brides for a Cause from a friend, I've been raving about them to all of my friends looking for wedding dresses, formal dresses (ranging from short, midi, to long), bridal separates (tops, skirts, pants), and accessories (veils, jewelry, hair pieces, shoes, etc.). Not only are we contributing to amazing causes, but also giving clothes a new life. Everything's so reasonable compared to going to retail stores and buying everything new. Scheduling is super easy where you can make appointments online. They were even willing to meet virtually to go over the items they had since Sacramento is a far drive from San Francisco. One of my favorite parts about their stores is how inclusive and organized their sizings are. I struggled to find my size 14 in bridal shops, but their store makes it so easy to find what you need. I didn't end up finding "the one" here, but it was a pleasant experience and I enjoyed the dresses that I tried on. This is a great business that I would have loved to support. If you plan to visit, book an appointment online in advance. They are good about sending you email and text reminders as the day and time approach. You can book either 30 or 60 minute appointments. They did not charge me a fee for the appointment. There are a limited number of guests you can bring with you, which is common at a bridal dress shop. The fitting rooms all share the same outside mirror area, so it does get a bit crowded. The staff are very friendly and can help you with anything you need. They sort dresses by size and also sell veils and head pieces that you can try on. I tried on a variety of dress styles at a variety of price points. The markdowns seemed pretty fair when you compare it to the original price. That means you can find a dress that was original price $1.4K and now half off at $700. They receive new batches of dresses very often. It didn't make sense for me to keep coming back because it's a long drive for me. However, if you're close to Sac, by all means, go often! read more

They are second hand as expected, and I was happy to find my dress here since it would also go to a great cause. However I did not. Maybe because the previous brides may of altered the dress, and none fit me . I would say it's a beautiful concept and the ladies are there to help , but there isn't a personal stylist, so bring family to help you . The value depends on your budget and style ! My friend recommended this shop to me, as I was ready to start looking for wedding dresses. The process is simple, and like many other wedding shops, you must reserve a time slot ahead of time. You can book a 30 min appointment for accessories or a 1 hour appointment for dresses. The store is clean and well organized -- the center being wedding dresses by size, the back being bridesmaid dresses, accessories, and wedding separates. The workers are kind and helpful, but mostly stay out of your way unless you need them (fyi, as an introvert, I love this type of shopping experience). Selection includes new and previously worn gowns. I noticed some from BHLDN, Daughters of Simone, and Watters. You'll find anything from minimalist dresses to poofy dresses to poofy and sparkling dresses. It really depends on when you come, because they are restocking often! Cost- Dresses from what I saw were between $200-600. In January, they have a clear the rack sale where everything is $150. Every 23rd of the year, dresses are 23% off on the year 2023. I've been here 3 times, and didn't walk away with any dresses. However, it gave me a great idea of brands I should look at and styles that worked well with my body. My third visit was for accessories, and I came away with a fingertip veil ($75) and a hair pin ($10). read more

Brides for a Cause not only had amazing prices but the staff and atmosphere was great. I found two dresses I absolutely loved and was torn which to pick. The consultants let me put both on hold for a couple of hours while I went out to lunch to think it over. When I came back they let me try them on one last time, since they weren't busy. Brides for a Cause is a 501c3 nonprofit organization so every penny of what you pay for your dress goes right back into women-based charities, a lot of which are local to the Sacramento area. They have some very beautiful dresses here, a lot of which are brand new and still have the tags on them, like the one I purchased. Their dressing rooms are gorgeous and had plenty of space for myself and my guest. I found an absolutely beautiful dress that fit me great and the retail price was over $3,600. We paid $850 and I am so pleased with my dress and its quality. When we checked out, we were also given a list of their recommended alterations places. To be fair, I showed up about 5-7 minutes late due to traffic. This shop is ideal for ecoconscious able bodied brides on the hunt for dresses. I'm very gratfull that my inlaws could be there, THEY definitely helped me in selecting and trying on the dresses. Unfortunately, I'm a disabled larger sized bride and though I found some variety, it was extremely slim pickings. I also chose this as a 1st stop to try dresses, and the hands off experience left me feeling unsupported and I didn't get measured like I've always hoped I would be. I has overall kind of disappointed with my experience, I think I had contrasting expectations for the service. I was told I had 24 hours to call back and verify my dress, which felt a bit pushy and rushed. I ultimately found a few options, but non of them fit. It was great that the employee was at least able to offer a list of tailors nearby. In the end I'm still on the hunt for my dream dress & dress experience. read more

While visiting my friend in Sac decided to check out this bridal boutique that supports a great cause. I loved how the dresses were organized by size. My friend picked out two dresses, I grabbed a couple, and my last pick was just a dress that I'd try for fun- it wasn't the style I was looking for at all but the design was interesting. The dresses fit pretty well with little alteration necessary BUT the last dress. The just for funsies dress turned out to be my favorite dress! I wasn't completely sure so Jessie was nice enough to put it on hold for 24 hours. We'll that night I decided it was the one. I called the next day and requested the invoice to be emailed to me. How was I certain it was the dress? When I didn't get the invoice by the end of the day I began to panic. Luckily the dress was safe on their end and I was able to get it straightened out right away. Dresses are all $150-700 and in excellent condition. I'd been to other bridal boutiques with a similar dress source and found that I had to be careful with tears in the tulle and lining at times. read more

I absolutely love this bridal shop! The gals working here are very knowledgeable about dress styles and designers. They're also very responsive to phone calls and Instagram messages and will send you multiple photos/videos of dresses and accessories you are interested in. They do also provide shipping for those who live out of state. It is a smaller store and there are very few dressing rooms. You have to book an appointment for bridal dress shopping and can bring up to 3 guests with you. They have several other rules, but those can all be read on their website. I thought they would be super strict with them and their 5 dress limit, but they knew I had flown in from out of state to visit family and pick a dress and were very kind to let me try on more. I actually found my dream dress here and it was a steal! $375 originally $1400 and it was a floor sample that was unaltered without damages. They do have a variety of dresses from altered previous bride dresses, floor samples, custom gowns, and special occasion dresses. I would be at fault for also not mentioning think how much good this company does for its local community. They help provide donations to woman based causes and you just can't beat that. read more

I love that this shop/organization exists. It's amazing that they donate to charities that help women and they sell dresses at a discounted price. A majority of the dresses are samples so you have a chance at getting a brand new dress. You have to keep in mind that the dresses can have flaws in them, but they are not flawed to the point where they are unwearable. I wish at least the samples were put in dress bags, but I can understand how that could slow the shopping process. Also, since we are shopping the racks ourselves, I think the appointments should be at least an hour and a half to give us time to look through the racks and try on. When I first got engaged, I knew this is where I wanted to shop, and I found my dress the first time around! It was a sample and a Lazaro! They had some gowns on sale for their Flash Sale which were reduced to $150 (pro tip follow them on Instagram for sale info). I did not purchase a sale dress but still got a great bargain on a Pronovias sample dress in my size, new and in great condition. They also had shoes and accessories! Keep in mind this is by appointment only which are 1 hour. You can book a second 30 minute appointment if you like. But to tell you the truth, the staff was flexible and allowed me to look at accessories even though I had gone over my time. I'm sure this has to do more with scheduling and availability. Also, I liked the unpretentious ambiance. There was no sales pressure. This is a very humble store with a great vision which gives back to woman owned organizations and that is always a plus. I LOVE everything this organization is about. I love that I can give back and still find something that I love for my big day. This place is amazing. They let you try on up to 15 dresses per appointment. The lady working there was so nice and helpful (totally forgot her name but she was blonde) . They also have bridesmaid dresses and a small selection of shoes, veils and hair accessories/jewelry. Unfortunately I didn't find "the" dress here but the one in the photo was a very close second. We did find my veil and hair clips here though! So cute. All of the dresses are in good condition, would just need to be altered since most of them have been altered already. Most of the dresses are samples and all the actual second hand dresses have been dry cleaned. There were a few high end designers (Badgley Mishka), middle of the road (Davids Bridal/Alfred Angelo) and quite a few I didn't recognize. The women that helped me were just darling and so helpful. They have shoes, bras, veils, all the stuff you normally need when trying on dresses. The 60 minutes went very quickly when you have to find dresses, try them on, look at them, take them off and put on the next. Be prepared to try to move quickly and I might suggest they extend to 90 minutes. It's not the fancy bridal salon experience you might see elsewhere but to get a nice dress at a fraction of the price, I'd highly recommend it. read more

Just visited and have to give a review. Overall, this spot is an absolute must for all brides. Wedding dresses are so expensive these days, and with over consumerism, it's a great idea to see if you can find a dress here first. In general, dress are anywhere from $250 to $2000+. Many dresses have defects (tears, rips, broken zippers, missing buttons). These dresses are marked lower due to their as-is condition, but I was surprised that a large portion of dresses I tried on had something that would need to be fixed. Don't be shy trying dresses larger than your size. It will open up your selection and the sizing can be easily fixed with alterations. Also, the employees were so nice and attentive if you needed help. Although I didn't find my dress during my visit, I hope you all go and give it a try! read more

Happy bride and satisfied customer here. I highly recommend Brides for a Cause for anyone who is budget and environmentally conscious. Wedding dress shopping has been an absolute nightmare for me for several reasons, but the main one being that I flat out refused to spend hundreds of dollars on a dress that I would be wearing for one day. So as an eco-conscious bride who is also a regular thrifter who purchases almost 70-80% of my clothes second hand, I was thrilled to find out about this organization and that a store opened up close to the Bay Area (I live in Daly City). Booking my appointment online was easy. Two hours prior to my appointment time, someone called to inform me that there was a marathon happening near the store which had closed some city streets adjacent to their location, so as to give me more time to account for traffic and parking. The head's up was greatly appreciated! Check-in was easy as well, with the associate explaining the process and asking if I needed any help. I was impressed at the variety of dresses and was glad that I was able to find some that were pretty close to my size so I didn't have to do all the clipping (though they DID have clips available if you needed some!). It isn't a regular bridal "frou-frou" store with champagne and luxury seats, so if you're looking for that experience, I'd recommend going to a more traditional bridal shop first, and THEN coming here once you have an idea of what you like/don't like and to save time on the 15 dresses you get to try on. That said, the store was still very nice, clean, and organized, and they still had a cute "I said yes" photo-op area. Very grateful that I found my dress $1000 off MSRP (it was a sample with almost no real visible defects), at a store where 90% of the organization's net income goes towards female-focused charities. read more

I had my appointment this past weekend and we were all greeted with smiles and they thoroughly explained the process and wasted no time letting us dress shop! Abigail and Jessica were absolutely wonderful! I originally went in for a "reception" dress and ended up falling in-love with another wedding dress, as soon as I put it on, i knew it was for me, Abigail expressed how perfect it looked on me However because I already had a wedding dress, I was still indecisive about purchasing another one, I was very conflicted as I really loved this new one. Abigail told me to take a moment, go grab some coffee and she can hold the dress until the end of the day to give me time to think. I really appreciated that! I left for the day and could not stop thinking about the dress all night. I went back to the store the next morning and as soon as I walked in the first thing Abigail said was "welcome back Emmalynn" with a huge smile! I asked to try on the dress again. Jessica helped me put it on and I asked her to take a photo. When I tell you she took the best photos!! Every angle, down low, up high, front back, sides, she gave me a full on photo shoot in 2 minutes and I knew coming back was the best decision because I needed to leave with that dress! Abigail then helped me check out and we spoke about how great it is that 90% of the proceeds goes to charities that help and empower women as I work for a non profit myself that helps DV victims/survivors and empower women.
