There aren't too many coffeehouses on the southside so far. It was nice to have one that's nearby. But the best thing is they are a GREAT coffeehouse. There is sometimes even live music being played. The sandwiches here are really good and you have the option of having them toasted as well. If your not into their coffee (which is great) they also have tea and shakes. They use REAL ICE CREAM in their shakes so your going to get a shake that is not watered down by syrups. Everything in this place is of the top quality!!! read more

This coffee shop is a great place to get some studying or work done, since there are little rooms here and there for more privacy and quiet as well as outlets all over the place! There is also outside seating on nicer days which is fantastic! I ordered the hot Vanilla Latte, cold Agave Latte, and the veggie sandwich. Both of the drinks were delicious and perfectly sweetened. The Vanilla Latte hit the spot during my afternoon slump with the creamy foam and smooth mixture between coffee and milk. The Agave Latte was also smooth and delicious! The coffee is great but the Internet connectivity is just awful. This was my go to place whenever I needed to get work done and I didn't want to drive far. I haven't been back here in a while and decided to comeback today just for old times and to catch up on some work. I keep making the same mistake of ordering a drink before checking that the Internet works. Now I'm out here with my coffee and unable to get any work done. I've informed the staff before about resetting the router and they either have no clue how to do it or don't feel any sense of urgency with taking care of it. In the past I've given this place 5 stars due to the great coffee, ample seating, and proximity to home. But I have to give it to 2 stars because this place does not provide me with the experience I am looking for anymore. Update: the Internet is now working but I've just wasted an hour on my phone browsing the web and typing this Yelp review. Advice: if you're here just to get a cup of coffee then this is one of the best places to go. Man I wish I knew the name of the guy that served me the other day (Friday afternoon) because HE WAS A JERK!!!!!! I should have cancelled the order immediately and told him where to stick my half-caff mocha. The girl who made it seemed embarrassed by his rude behavior, and she made a solid mocha for sure. Unfortunately she didn't put the lid on all the way and I didn't notice because of how I was carrying it, so when I tried to set it in my cup dispenser... splash, 80% of it all over the car. The 20% I got to drink was good though. I doubt I'd go back even if I were in the area again. Except maybe to see if the same guy were working so I could curse him out. A hipster coffee shop, but a good one. Their coffee is pretty good, and roasted in-house, which I appreciate. This place is a few blocks from my house, so I've been here several times, and it isn't a bad place overall. I would say that their coffee drinks are better than their tea and their smoothies. I enjoyed their drip coffee, cold brew, and cortado; all solid choices. Their tea selection was good, nothing to write home about. Their smoothies were not great, pretty expensive and tasted artificial and too sweet. I would not order those again. Pastries always look good, but are much too expensive, so I've never had any of them. Cost is generally on the high side of coffeeshops. What brings this from a 3 to a 4 star review is that this seems to be a good place for neighborhood people to gather, and also I enjoy their coffee beans. I've bought bags of their in-house roasted coffee beans, and enjoyed the coffee I've made at home from that, as well as the Chicago-themed names of the coffee (I remember liking the Hardscrabble a lot). In terms of atmosphere, it has pretty standard coffee-shop vibes: lots of vintage-y hardwood furniture and signs, mason jars as cups, etc. The whole space has a lot of natural light, which is very nice, though it sometimes gets hot in the summertime. The front area is louder and busier-seems more oriented toward people meeting up and talking. The back area has two larger rooms that are quieter that are good for working or studying. read more

It's been awhile since I been here. I felt the quality of the coffee, food etc. was going down so I stopped going for awhile ... so decided to give it another try this morning. I'm always wanted to support my local businesses around my neighborhood, but unfortunately the quality of the pastries and coffee as well as the teas are not good. I'm sorry to say but this was my last time here. The coffee taste like it was mixed with tea, the chocolate donut had a refrigerator taste . The lemon bar my wife purchased, the crust was raw on the bottom. I don't think it's worth the $14 and change we spent . Very disappointed in the quality of the products sold there. read more

This is a small coffee shop located on the corner of Morgan and 31st. The design and characteristics of this building are really unique, on the outside and the inside. I really like their antique-looking ceiling. I had tea at their place and it's normal regular tea. There's not much you can do to spice up tea. I imagine the interview process for baristas is something like: 1) Didn't make eye contact; 2) Didn't say "please," "thank you," "good morning," or any other form of basic pleasantry; 3) Looks and acts like pretentious, condescending hipster trash; 4) Appeared noticeably irritated at my audacity to be physically present in the building If 4/4 qualifications are satisfied, you're hired at Bridgeport Coffee. The Asian dude is the only cool one. I tolerate the service (or lack thereof) for the sake of the coffee and a convenient location. I love the building itself; there's tons of space to study, meet up with friends, and do you're own thing, which is nice. I really liked the atmosphere overall and could see myself hanging out here for a few hours to get some writing done or something. The workers are all very friendly as well. However, I just don't like the coffee here. I don't think it tastes very good and the mochas I've had here are only okay. This is a fine place to visit if you want to hang out, but I wouldn't go here specifically to grab a cup of coffee or an espresso drink. I came here because of the ratings and began to order off the menu but was met by a, "we don't have that anymore," "we're out of that," "there is no soup of the day," (when the menu clearly states that there is)...what a disappointment. The guy behind the register with the curly dark hair and blank gaze was detached and terrible at customer service. I couldn't tell if he was being honest when he said all the items I wanted were out of stock or unavailable, or if he just didn't want me to eat there for another unspoken reason. Living in McKinley Park unfortunately there aren't any cute coffee shops near me like when I was living in Wicker Park ( think I remember counting at least 6 within a 3 block radius ) So Bridgeport Coffee is the closest to me and is really not that close to be honest. After having a really bad experience at La Catrina in Pilsen ,Bridgeport Coffee was a breathe of fresh air. Spacious inside, clean in and out, friendly customer service ( even offering to bring my food and drink to their patio because I had baby in tow) and delicious food and iced coffee ( their black bean chipotle wrap is a must try) They are also walking distance from McGuane park where our daughter takes a tiny tots and tumblers class and the Palmisanno nature park where we do outdoor workouts so that's a plus ! read more

This was so close to being a bad review until one of the staff saved the day yesterday,he really left an impact on the people in the back and I. The morning of the 24th started off extremely hot and humid in the back l,but around 1-2 a staff member came to the back and the shop did a 180 degree change. After the initial morning staff left,the shorter Latino man (Christian I believe) went straight to close the blinds , added 2 new fans,and opened the back door area. The back immediately all thanked him and we all felt the room get cooler and felt the refreshing air flow come to the back. I want to reiterate why this is such a big deal,I've been coming here for the last 4 days straight each time the store changed when the two young baristas got there and today I can feel the difference since they aren't here! I really enjoyed the specialty ice tea that Jon made me, it was so good and made me want more but I honestly forgot what it was called since I just asked for something good. Topping a perfect blend of espresso and milk is the softest, richest, pillowy cloud of foam you've ever tasted. We decided to check out Bridgeport Coffee since we've bought their beans a couple times before. I'd seen the past reviews that it was a good study space so why not, right! The coffee was really good -- we had a regular coffee and a mocha. The mocha was done right (which is a rarity for me bc most of the time you have to stir to get the actual mocha flavor but here it was an even mix of mocha throughout)! Very impressed with the coffee. However, not a 5-star from me because the baristas were pretty rude (and it was our first time there so not a great 1st impression). Plus, there was definitely not enough space to study -- it was packed. Don't recommend coming on a Sunday afternoon/evening. I wouldn't go out of my way again to come here to sit and work for a whole day. I'd only drop by to grab a coffee to go if I'm in the area. read more

I love BP Coffee, but they always run out of the "home-good" pastries. I've tried to get muffins and croissant for all my co-workers (mainly the carrot/bran muffin) for the past 3 weeks and they are out by 8:00 am! Today I gave it my last try, and all there was left were three morning muffins (blueberry and cranberry) which I bought as my last resource but this is NOT what I wanted NOR expected. There were no more croissants at ALL, and it was only 7:45 am in the morning. There is always plenty of the cake- pastries, which are full of frosting and loaded with fake colorants. dont think anyone would like a piece of cake for breakfast at 8:00 am in the morning. Bridgeport coffee house was known for its local atmosphere and its simplicity. This used to be my "go to" place, but seems like every time I go in lately, my "to go" order is messed up - my dirty chai has no espresso in it, my veggie breakfast bagel has bacon in it, my earl grey tea turns out to be English breakfast. Jackalope is a few extra blocks for me, but worth the walk. UPDATE: I have gone back to Bridgeport Coffee. The quality of the service has gone back up and it's a good, quiet environment to work in. Service, food, and drinks are great. They even have tasty vegan options available! There's a great little outdoor seating during the warmer months and the space is huge. If you want the hustle and bustle of a coffeeshop you can sit in the front room. But there's also a quieter seating area in the back room if you want a more studying friendly environment. I have to mark down one star because of the wifi. It's great to have the quieter room in the back but the wifi reception is so poor that you really can't accomplish much if you need the internet. The wifi signal is better in the front room but can still be really slow. Please update wifi bandwidth and signal! read more

(It is an old corner pharmacy) Had the "daily blend" which was clearly fresh ground.
