Okay, let's be honest: who has NOT seen "Mrs. Doubtfire?" IMO, it was one of Robin Williams' best performances. As my husband and I are both movie nerds, it was only fitting to make a reservation at the restaurant featured in the movie. Don't judge us, ha ha. The restaurant is described as a restaurant with Asian influence, and the interior reflects this. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and dimly lit, perfect for a date night. It has definitely been revamped since "Mrs. Doubtfire," but the date night aesthetic seen in the movie still remains. For drinks, I ordered the peach Bellini and my husband ordered the old fashioned. The peach Bellini was warm and sweet in a good way. My husband said his old fashioned "tasted off." For the appetizer, we ordered the charcuterie board. This is the best charcuterie we have had! The bread was toasted nicely. The brie, gouda, and manchego cheeses, as cheeses typically are ha ha, were very addicting. The apricot jam and truffle honey added nice flavors to the bread. The coppa and prosciutto meats were tender and not too salty. For our entrees, I ordered the Bridges burger medium well. It comes with herb aioli, LTO, and melted Havarti cheese, all between a toasted brioche bun. This is one of the best and juiciest burgers I've ever had! It was cooked to perfection, the cheese perfectly melted, and the bun both crispy and fluffy. The herb aioli was not overpowering and added just the right amount of "herbiness." My husband ordered the grilled pork chop, which comes with an apple chutney, applewood smoked bacon, collard greens, parmesan cheese grits, and a red wine demi glace. I tried his entree. As someone who doesn't really care for pork chops in general, I loved this one. It was very tender and juicy and the apply chutney was a delicious accompaniment. The cheese grits were well-cooked and seasoned, which pleased this Southern girl's heart. The red wine sauce was thick and a nice touch to the pork. For dessert, we ordered the molten chocolate cake. Unfortunately, there was no "lava" in the center, but the cake itself was very gooey and rich and the vanilla gelato offered by our waitress added an extra layer of creaminess and decadence! Our waitress was super nice and kept smiling the entire time, adding to this incredible dining experience. The other wait staff that assisted us were no different. Mrs. Doubtfire was 33 years ago and sadly Bridges seems to think it came out last week. The restaurant/bar seem to be stuck in time both from a menu and drink perspective. Happy hour is robust, and the bartenders always have a smile on their faces, unfortunately with the menu as it is they're for sure handcuffed. Moving on from the past and a major overall would do wonders for the place and I have no doubt draw in a younger crowd to provide the customer base they need for the next 33 years. read more

Sat outside, beautiful landscaped patio, although the lights wrapped around the trees never turned on. Inside was very stuffy, but still the same aesthetic from Mrs. Doubtfire movie scene. Not one person eating inside. Ambience: 4 stars Service was good. Waiter was polite and attentive. Service: 5 stars The pasta had good flavor, a bit short of noodles, could've added a bit more. The shrimp seemed slightly undercooked. The steak was a bit chewy. They had a complimentary cupcake for birthdays which was nice. What has happened to Bridges restaurant? We rarely schedule brunch, but did so last Sunday. We waited 15 minutes before a server came to take our drink order. Our drinks came 15 minutes later, so we decided it would be best to order our brunch, now. We then waited 30 minutes before our orders arrived. I ordered the chicken sandwich, so tasteless. The restaurant of Mrs Doubtfire fame changed ownership late last year. While looking for a venue to throw a surprise baby shower, this place popped up in our google searches. It was nice to see a fellow pinoy now owns this place. Eduardo was really nice over the phone while hashing out the details of our party. We were setup outside on a nice spring late afternoon. Weather was nice for an outdoor gathering. There was a pianist playing some background music. We preordered all our food and was pleasantly surprised when everything came out without a hitch. Everyone raved about the food. I had the pork chop, which was excellent. Pork chops are easy to mess up (ask me how I know). One minute too long on the grill can mean the difference between excellent and dry. Salmon was great too, and risotto was delicious for those that don't eat meat. Saw a friend there and she had the burger, which she said is one of the best in the area. Desserts were fantastic, especially the creme brulee. I loved this dish, perfect ratio of sweet top and creamy bottom (the dessert). Service was top notch as well. No complaints at all. Apologies, Eduardo, for the kiddos running around. Let's start with the good. I had the stir fried Mexican prawns, which is very tasty and everything was cooked well. The Thai peanut curry sauce is flavorful and delicious. The rice noodle cakes interesting. This dish is well done. Hubby had the short rib paperdelle, which was not as good. The short rib was tender, but the noodles were bland and really just tasted like they had butter coating them and a handful of sundried tomatoes tossed in, disappointing. We had the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and they were delicious. The restaurant was crowded, as expected on a Friday night in the heart of Danville. The waitstaff were all friendly, but scarce in providing service. Our water glasses were filled often but if we needed anything it took FOREVER to get our waitresses attention. I ordered a glass of champagne after sitting at the table for at least 20 minutes. When the waitress finally arrived with my drink it was a glass of wine instead. By the time she came back with the correct drink it had been 45 minutes since arriving. While the waitress was really sweet, we rarely saw her. I think they were understaffed with waiters and over staffed with bussers who weren't able to help with anything but filling water and clearing dishes. Looking around I could see others were frustrated by this as well. So I want to cut the place some slack not knowing the issues they are experiencing, but it created a negative dining experience for sure. The ambience is lively and loud. We did have a corner table which was nice. Even with how busy downtown was I found parking ok. Overall if we return it would likely be during a less busy time so as to not be underserved and disappointed. read more

came here on a Saturday night with no reservations and was seated immediately the place was busy but had ample seating. Service was quick and friendly. They often checked up on us and kept our drinks filled. Food was amazing. If you appreciate sadness and dishes you will love their menu. Serving size is slightly larger than usual so sharing between two people is encouraged. We did not stay for dessert however the menu looked inviting. Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. We used to love coming here but it just isn't what it used to be. Last time, months ago, we sat in the bar and ordered the teriyaki combination. The food took forever and arrived with a hair in it. Tonight we decided to give it another try. Sat on the patio and 3 of our 4 people received their food but they never brought my entree. Everyone else was already finished and my entree still wasn't there. When I asked the waiter, he said they were "looking for the steak". This was concerning. Ten minutes later my entree arrived. Later he asked if we wanted dessert and brought menus but once again never returned. We had to go to the host stand to say we needed the check. Sad this place isn't what it used to be. Happy Hour menu was diverse and reasonably priced. The food and drinks we ordered were tasty. But the temperature in the bar? Inhumane. Sunny and hot with a heat advisory today. Current temp outside? 91 degrees. Felt like it was close to that inside. No fan or airflow in the bar area during happy hour. Literally ended up using our cloth napkins dipped in ice water to cool off. By the time we hurried thru our meal and paid the bill, we were both sweating profusely and were so uncomfortably warm we were on the verge of passing out. Overall the experience here was just okay, nothing bad and nothing that really stood out. We can for an early dinner on a Tuesday and the restaurant was practically empty, the service was okay, and the food came out pretty quickly! To drink I had the Mrs. Doubtfire and it was probably the best thing I had here. I think I would come back just for this drink!! Had a 5 people for a Birthday gathering last night and it was perfect! All our meals were delicious. The wait staff was above and beyond - attentive and accommodating. I wanted to try the clam chowder and my son-in-law offered to get a bowl to share ... the waiter said he would divide it for us and offered to give us each a cup. YES please! We both tried it and agreed it was off the charts! And that was just the soup! Each meal was delicious! And the birthday dessert was presented very well! Our company celebrated their holiday party at Bridges in early December. It was the perfect venue to host 70 guests. The food was excellent, the service was attentive and quick and the whole restaurant was festive which added to the fun of our event. We went back to Bridges with some good friends this past weekend and we were once again blown away by the dinner specials, the professional and friendly staff and the visit from the owner, Freddie, was a highlight of the evening. For a first time visit, the over-priced Christmas dinner was a disappointment in so many ways. Wait-staff was overwhelmed, food service was delayed and inconsistent resulting in cold meals and empty glasses. Both tables next to us had similar experiences and it became a topic of conversation across all three tables, one even escalated it to management. I understand that Christmas Day is an especially busy time, and we tried to be patient throughout the evening. That said, our overall experience at Bridges was very disappointing, especially considering the price point. It was difficult not to notice how much the quality of both the food and service has declined compared to past visits. Our server was clearly very inexperienced. While that's understandable to a degree, proper training is still essential - especially on a packed holiday. Communication was lacking throughout the meal: different wait staff dropped off dishes, and our server came by asking if we had received dessert when we hadn't. The timing of the meal was extremely frustrating. While a slower pace due to the holiday was expected, the 2.5 hours felt excessive and tedious. Drinks arrived after our starters were already served, which set the tone for the rest of the night. Food quality and value were especially disappointing, and not worth the $65 and $70 price points for our two meals. The lobster bisque didn't appear to have any lobster as advertised, but instead had a lot of imitation crab. The shaking beef lettuce wraps were fatty and stringy. The seafood fettuccini alfredo was mushy, with only three shrimp and tiny chopped scallop pieces. The prime rib was a small, overcooked brown piece of meat with sides that were tiny - just a couple of spoonfuls of creamed spinach and "loaded" mashed potatoes. To top it off, after such a long, slow dinner, we were given the wrong check and credit card, which only added to the delay in leaving. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as the experience did not reflect the level of quality and service expected for the price. Arrived here on Sunday night for a birthday dinner for my girlfriend. Was greeted at the door and seated. We actually were the only table in the entire restaurant as we had a 5 o'clock dining reservation.... Alana was our server, she was so friendly and sweet. She constantly checked on us, and kept an eye on us through our whole meal. She really made the evening special. Unfortunate first experience here. Sat at this very nice restaurant on the front patio for lunch and ordered the chicken salad sandwich. Everything but the sandwich was top notch. The chicken salad had no flavor. I asked for salt, didn't help. I had to use some of my Caesar dressing to get it edible. My lunchmates tried it and agreed. Not against coming back, but this is unnecessarily poor execution. My one star is based solely on how an incident there was handled because I love the food here and the ambience and I've been coming for decades. This has been in my top 5 restaurants for at least 15 years and we celebrate a lot of occasions here, or at least we used to. We came with a party of 6 for Mother's Day, had a reservation and were seated quickly at a nice table. Had the sweetest waitress who took our food and drink order (it was prix fixe so you order appetizer, main and dessert all at once). The waitress delivered me my diet coke on a tray that also had my brothers red wine glass on it and it tipped and fell all over my shirt and my skirt. Everybody was very quick to respond, especially since the glass broke under my chair and at my feet. I was without exaggeration SOAKED. They offered me a chefs jacket because I was going to head home, not to be dramatic, but I was way too wet to enjoy lunch and I didn't want to wear a restaurant jacket. My brother had a t-shirt under his button down and I went and changed into that and dealt with the soaking wet skirt all through lunch. Again I want to emphasize the waitress and staff were attentive and apologetic. The part that leaves me with one star is that nothing was comped and nobody offered to pay for my dry cleaning. It's inexcusable in every way. At least comp my meal, the drinks, something, but if you don't want to do that you should offer to pay for my cleaning and be grateful nothing spilled on my Oran sandals or Rodeo bag because I wouldn't have left without saying a word if that happened. Can I have zero stars for this meal and experience? We waited 30 minutes to order. Another 45 minutes for appetizers. We had to ask for water, ask for wine, ask for the dessert menus which were just left on the table rather than being handed out. My meal, a salad, was delivered to the table 12 minutes after everyone else had been served. And our plates were never cleared before the next serving was delivered. We ended the meal with plates piled in the center of the table. We have been to Bridges many times over the years and it has been going downhill but this was the absolute worst experience including the manager who didn't make one comment, not one apology, after speaking with us. Came here with the family (party of 8) on Thanksgiving. The food and service were very exceptional! I had the prime rib and my wife had the filet mignon and lobster. The steak and lobster were perfectly seasoned and cooked. We also had the lobster bisque, candied yams on the side and the crème brûlée for desert. It's been years since I've been here, but it never disappoints. We came with a baby and a toddler, which is always challenging, but the entire staff was really accommodating. We sat out in the covered patio and it was so pleasant. We were shielded from sun and wind; not to mention all the food the baby threw on the ground was easily cleaned. The menu was not overwhelming but still had lots of variety. The food came out quickly, which is always a huge plus when you have hungry kids. What we ordered: + Roasted Brussels sprouts - a nice mix of Brussels sprouts, onions, and bacon. + Shaking beef lettuce cups - tender beef in a slightly sweet soy sauce with hearts of Romaine lettuce cups. + Chicken Two Ways, Pomegranate Soy - a roasted chicken thigh over shredded chicken on top of brussels sprouts, red onions, and fingerling potatoes. This was very delicious. I only wished there were pomegranate seeds like the picture from their website. + Apple crisp a la mode - this was quite a generous portion and very sharable. It was warm and delicious. Highly recommend adding the ice cream. + Blueberry cheesecake - very tasty but I found it a little dense. We made reservations for a Saturday night and were promptly seated when we arrived. It wasn't too busy around 6pm. Our waiter gave us the specials and took our drink order. I opted for the pomegranate sangria which was refreshing. We placed our order, I got the grilled salmon and my husband ordered lobster bisque soup and added a lobster tail and then got the fettuccine Alfredo. We waited for a really long time for bread to be served (I think we were going to get passed up) and then again a long wait for our meals. We were there for over an hour total time so it was very slow paced. came here for my birthday yesterday with my boyfriend and my friend. our server was extremely rude, rolled her eyes, tried seating us in a table towards the back and threw our menus on the table. we asked to move which she wasn't happy about that. she wasn't helpful at all and didn't make me feel welcome. when we went to pay with cash, she immediately grabbed the money and proceeded to COUNT THE MONEY OUT LOUD infront of us and threw a $5 bill back at us and made the reduced faces like we didn't tip her enough. i used to love this place but just because of that experience, i will NEVER be coming back. read more

This is a review of our Christmas Day meal which, we realize, is more hectic than usual. We always love the happy hours on the patio with live music in the Spring/Summer. This review is more from an educational standpoint than complaining because we'd love to have Bridges continue to succeed and be a staple in downtown Danville. I think with a bit more attention to detail and server training it will continue to succeed as a high end dining experience. Suggestions: 1. Place setting needs to be "forks on the left and knife on the right". Our place setting was backwards. 2. Know your stemware. Wines need to be in the appropriate glass. The clientele knows their wine! We paid $17 for a less than 4 oz pour of high end cab in a white wine glass. If you know better, but ran out of appropriate glasses, buy more. 3. Steak, that had to be sent back for a bit more cooking, came back in a bowl type plate used for the salmon dishes. Really hard to cut steak in a curved bowl. Again, either make sure staff knows the difference or buy more plates. 4. Timing needs fine tuning. Both sets of diners on either side of us, who came in at least 15 minutes after us, received their main courses first (and had red wine in the appropriate glass). Even the server, who was very nice and friendly, was surprised we hadn't received our meal. There were a few more things, but these are the main issues that stood out to us and made our experience 3 stars instead of 5. We might be back for next Christmas or we might just stick to the happy hours. read more

I reached out to the manager to potentially host my wedding reception here for October 2023. Communication was fine up to me wanting to move forward with the plans. I mentioned I was going to go there to enjoy a meal before I commit and would have loved to talk to them in person. After that I never heard back even with follow ups. I called and reached out with no return messages. I was really excited to try this restaurant up to that point since Mrs. Doubtfire was one of my favorite movies growing up. The food overall was decent, but very Asian inspired. The food is a bit pricy for what you get. It's been a while since my last visit. I was craving for a good juicy burger and they have been advertising weekly burgers so it was a worthwhile stop. Coming in a little after 12 noon, I was seated straight away. A sunny spot on their outdoor patio. Ordered the weekly burger at medium rare with a side green salad rather than the usual fries and ice tea. The burger definitely not medium rare as it was on the dry side with the fixings and mustard made it tolerable. The green salad was pleasant with a mixture of fruits, nuts and green. Together it made it a very balance meal. The wait person didn't come often enough to refill the ice tea glass, sorry to report. It was a nice sunny warm day on the patio. A bit disappointing burger as memory serves me in the past it was much more juicy. I may return to try other items. read more

We placed our drink orders and 20 minutes later one of our friends had to go up to the bar to check on our drink order because it had taken that long, and no where in sight was our waiter. Then one beer arrived and it wasn't even cold. We had to send it back to get something else, which took another 10 minutes. Onto the food...I had the short rib papperdelle. There was barely any short rib meat on my plate, and the noodles were short and broken. Pappardelle should be long, as with any pasta noodles. I also had to ask for refills on my drink, which made the experience unpleasant. I had to look around and ask, which cut into my conversation with my friends. If you're looking for a blend of excellent food and craft cocktails, Bridges Restaurant & Bar is the perfect spot! The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the host who kindly guided me to my party. Our server was very attentive and made sure every request was fulfilled. Most of us got the special lobster tail with ribeye steak and it was the best choice recommended by our waiter. The steak was juicy and tender and the lobster tail was a perfect match with the butter on the side. I also had the clam chowder with a nice creamy texture, absolutely delicious! The chocolate molten cake with salted caramel gelato on top was divine but the crème brûlée was a perfection. I had a small piece from by friends plate and had to order another one for myself. Overall, my first time at Bridges Restaurant & Bar exceeded my expectations. It was worth an hour drive and will definitely come back, especially for the crème brûlée read more

For a great night out , great service and food you really can't beat 'Bridges' Famous not only for its food and service but for its appearance in the 'Mrs DoubtFire' movie back in the day. Came here on a Thursday evening - light in attendance but that worked perfectly for my 60th ! - Service was spot on and the food outstanding . Brussels for an appetizer ! Yum !
