Stopped into Harvest for lunch today. My brother and SIL have lived in Danville for forever, and I'm pet sitting this weekend and finally get to try this restaurant after passing by it for, literally, decades. It's a beautiful day, so the place was packed for the outside seating, so I sat at a cute table inside. Fine by me! Plus, I'm by a window so really, just lovely. They offer the brunch menu on Saturdays, and everything looked delish, but I was in the mood for a salad. With several tasty-looking salads, and I selected the Superfood Salad with the grilled shrimp as an add-on. First bite provided me with a taste explosion of pleasure! The ginger-lime vinaigrette is simply delicious and the salad was perfectly dressed. This salad has arugula, baby kale, fresh berries including strawberries and perfectly ripe blackberries--I found one blueberry, too. It also has jicama, avocado, crunchy cucumber, and some sunflower and sesame seeds. The menu said it had mango, but I didn't have any. No worries, if the mango wasn't ripe, I wouldn't have wanted it anyway. The shrimp add-on was lightly grilled and seasoned (you don't need to add salt to shrimp and this chef knows that!) and very moist and juicy. You get 4 shrimp for $11 as of this writing. But the added protein made the salad a meal for me and I would have been hungry had I not added them. As you can see in the photo, I also had a glass of their still rose, which was a perfect pairing for my fruit-filled salad. The atmosphere is a warm farmhouse style with a beautiful bar. I see there is a back room which is likely the main dining room, but I didn't get back there for pics. Service was friendly and warm from reception to waitstaff. I look forward to returning and trying some more dishes! You should come, too! read more

Food: We were here for brunch and ordered the Caesar salad, mimosa, and tomato salad. The Caesar salad was quite different from the traditional version, with fried chicken underneath. Still wondering what happened there. The tomato salad, on the other hand, was pretty good, with sweet, juicy heirloom tomatoes paired with creamy burrata cheese. The orange juice in the mimosa was quite sour and didn't have much of an orange flavor. Service: Pretty good overall. Ambience: No music, and the place was very busy. I've been here several times and I love them! The service is always wonderful and friendly. And the food has always been really good and fresh. Service and ambiance was very nice. I got here towards the end of happy hour and ordered two $5 plates. It was quite comedic when the plates arrived. One tiny chicken sandwich and one empanada. It was good, but I expected to have at least 2 of each. For the entrees we got the braised short ribs and the danville burger with truffle fries. These entrees were also very good. I learned a lesson- go with your first choice - I've been trying to practice that - I find when I do t do that- I wish I got what I wanted first . I got the herb crusted halibut - good - yet I was wanting more - the short rib bites were that- short . I was wanting more - and my guest got the Superfood salad with chicken- that's a huge win- it was so good - my first choice was the braised short ribs- mmmmmmmmmmmmm. I like the place. It's an old house converted and it has rustic charm. Had not been here for a long long time, so decided to take my friends there for lunch. Had made reservations and they had set up a nice table inside. However, it was a lovely day on Wednesday,so requested outdoor seating. They were not too busy and happily organized a table for 10 outside. They were not super busy and I made reservations for us in advance. I had the short rib hash and split it as I wasn't that hungry. The hash was so tasty and delicious. I would come back just for the hash. The hush puppies were good but I would try other things on the menu. I didn't get to try the berries and croissant but it looked good. The manhattan did not seem to have the selected Carpano Antica vermouth: very odd. Unsure what they made. Burger, at like $26, was not even good. The place was very quiet so they were not overwhelmed. Wheels were off. Revel and other places were packed. Harvest is in a perfect spot with great decor.
