    Lasagne, just ok.
    Phil D.

Service, non existent. Middle aged lady. Started nice, took our order, served the food, but never checked on us. Drinks were empty, we wanted dessert-- oh well. Never again. It wasn't crowded. Lasagne was mediocre, runny. Salad was just ok. Find someplace else.

Just had lunch here today. I'm not sure what all the one star reviews are about. The owners are super nice and friendly. The service was flawless. Blackhawk Plaza is an absolute ghost town so we were literally all alone in the restaurant. Super nice day to sit outside on the patio. Chicken Caesar had a tad too much dressing (and no chicken). Cobb was very good even though the chicken was slightly overcooked.

Not sure how this place has good ratings... my Cobb salad was awful!!! My chicken was dry, the hard boiled egg was overcooked and the avocado was hard and sliced super thin. Customer service was okay and the wine was horrible. When I asked if it was Merlot... she said yes and showed me the open bottle. She could tell I didn't like it, nor offered me a choice of something else.

The chicken calzone! Regular sized fork, knife and napkin for scale in the picture. It was not mini. At $20.64 (tax included, not tip) that was 2 meals for one hungry me. I very happily packed my leftovers to take home. The calzone was made fresh, came out piping hot and the inside was filling, and hearty (homestyle maybe would be a better word?). I went on a quiet Sunday afternoon and chose the restaurant because I wanted peace and a pleasant comfortable ambience on a warm day. I'd go back if I lived closer, and needed a break from home cooking.

We decided to try a new restaurant for dinner that was close to Yersen's because we planned to have gelato of dessert, but dinner wasn't planned. We found Nilo's restaurant via Yelp and decided to try it. We ordered fettuccine Alfredo, kids pesto pasta, kids spaghetti, the scallop calamari shrimp pasta and a soup and salad. For each of our dishes, we all felt like it tasted homemade and not fake or overproduced. It was nice to walk in and have a cozy family vibe inside. I really liked that the minestrone was full of vegetables that reminded me of ratatouille. I also liked that the Ceasar salad dressing was made from scratch because the garlic was delicious!

Nilo's is a small Italian restaurant in the Blackhawk mall. We started with the pear Gorgonzola salad. The flavor captured our taste buds nicely. The staff nicely split this for us since they knew we were splitting it. Next was the salmon fettuccine. There was a good amount of salmon nicely placed on properly cooked fettuccine. Ground Parmesan is available for the asking. We sat next to the fireplace. Since it was hot it obviously wasn't on:-) It will be fun to go back when it is cooler. The owner had a nice west bay pizza shop for many years do, to no surprise, he made a flatbread/pizza garlic bread. It added great flavors to our dinner. We need to try other flatbreads. The mall needs more foot traffic but that didn't stop Nilo's from creating great food.

Lovely decor, good food, excellent service. The brownie wasn't really a brownie but actually a chocolate cake. Lots of choices in the menu.

This was 8:33pm. He took the order. He rang it up. The drink existed on our bill but apparently not in this dimension. When we pointed this out, he held the line like an HOA president at an emergency meeting about fence height. This did not have stakes. I have never watched someone be so confidently wrong about something so profoundly stupid. A true masterclass in choosing your hill, dying on it, and somehow being proud of the whole thing.

The place was super lively and honestly pretty packed during my visit on a week night. The lounge itself is on the smaller side, but cozy. I like the concept, there are wire racks on the wall and each table has a little wooden game board on top (mine was Chinese checkers), such a cute touch and makes the place feel a bit more interactive. Their signature cocktail menu has a lot of options, but since it was our first time, we asked the bartender for a recommendation. He suggested "Meet Me In Pearis" since we wanted something vodka-based. The drink took about 10-15 minutes to come out, which felt a bit long, but it looked like he was the only one working, serving two big parties plus a few tables, so I get it. Service overall was still good and he was nice the whole time. For the drink... honestly, it didn't really wow me. Both the flavor and presentation were pretty underwhelming. It kind of tasted like a glass of sangria to me. I guess with "Artisanal" in the name, I was expecting something a little more unique or elevated. Overall, great location, nice vibes, and I like the interior concept. Service was solid too. Just wish the drink matched the same level. Probably wouldn't come back, but glad I got to check it off my list.

So we sat in the patio which had fans and nice plants which shaded well. Felt like sitting a garden and was cool. However when walked through the restaurant to the patio it was almost all empty and plenty of tables so kinda odd. Service was okay, kinda slower than I expected. Poor server also spilled water all over me but I was thankfully wearing shorts so it was okay. Food was great though! We ordered a Sedona chicken sandwich with garlic fries and chicken picatta. Sandwich was kinda like a grilled chicken burger. The thicken breast was moist and fries were crispy and tasty. Chicken picatta was delicious and perfectly mixed with mashed potatoes, spinach, capers. The chicken wasn't dry. Pear martini was the best. I would come here just for this drink. I think they home make the syrup. Old fashioned was good but a little sweet.

The bread is outstanding, akin to a baguette with its crusty outside and plush interior. I wonder if they bake it fresh in house, what with the bread arriving steaming and hot to the touch. The oil that accompanies it is spectacular too, perfectly acidic with the balsamic vinegar contrasted by the acrid olive oil. All entrees are delicious though not the best in show by any means. For a casual restaurant though, the libations have no business being that delicious. I had an old fashioned, something of a go-to as of late. Leaves nothing to be desired. Truly just an archetype old fashioned, a symphony of bitters and whiskey. Dessert at the end was tiramisu, which was a good tiramisu. Such is expected at an Italian spot though.
