Came here on Sunday for lunch for party of two. It was a hot day and we wanted to sit inside. They were sure if there was any seating indoors. So we sat in the patio which had fans and nice plants which shaded well. Felt like sitting a garden and was cool. However when walked through the restaurant to the patio it was almost all empty and plenty of tables so kinda odd. Service was okay, kinda slower than I expected. Poor server also spilled water all over me but I was thankfully wearing shorts so it was okay. Food was great though! We ordered a Sedona chicken sandwich with garlic fries and chicken picatta. Sandwich was kinda like a grilled chicken burger. The thicken breast was moist and fries were crispy and tasty. Chicken picatta was delicious and perfectly mixed with mashed potatoes, spinach, capers. The chicken wasn't dry. Pear martini was the best. I would come here just for this drink. I think they home make the syrup. Old fashioned was good but a little sweet. read more

I only ordered takeout once, but I've gotta dine here in person!! Especially during happy hour. My mom and I ordered dinner to-go during a particularly sleepy weekday afternoon, and I'm so glad we did. The host was friendly too! Smoked Chicken Salad Sandwich ($20): All sandwiches come with fries or salad. I can make my own chicken salads, but this one was a winner. There are pears and cherries in it, who knew that would elevate it? The fries were okay though. Pulled Pork ($20): I love me some BBQ sauce. This tasted as promised, the pulled pork was tender. Came here with friends/compatriots for a dinner after a long day of work. The ambience is great, the staff very friendly and we were seated quickly. The menu is extensive enough for most tastes, and we did order a variety of foods to test that theory! The ones we ordered and have photos for include: Pear Quesadilla (Pears, brie cheese, flour tortilla, pear chutney); Calamari Fritti; New York White Cheddar Fondue; Bishop Ranch salad (Baby greens, pear, candied walnuts, blue cheese, balsamic vinaigrette); and for dessert: Warm Pear Tart (Puff pastry, vanilla ice cream, caramel), and a Seasonal Bread Pudding. The food came quickly and hot from the kitchen - except the salad and desserts! The food was very tasty, and the pear quesadilla and fondue were favorites for the uniqueness and the taste. The fondue had sliced pears along with the bread, a great change in the usual fondue take. The salad was also liked, fresh and a good variety of tastes and textures. They subbed the dressing for ranch. The desertas were also a hit, being shared. The Peasant & The Pear is a neighborhood staple. I would probably come more often if they offered reservations. The restaurant has a neighborhood vibe and a beautiful bar area. We came late on a Saturday evening. I tried to French onion soup and lamb shank. Both were ok but seemed to be lacking something. The servers were really friendly and I will come back again. Their wine list is reasonably priced and heavily dominant with Wagner family wines. If Belle Glos, Caymus, and friends are your jam, this is the place for you. read more

We've been going to Peasant and the Pear for years with friends and family. It's been the most recommended restaurant in our family and all gift cards. Unfortunately, the last few times we've gone the quality of the food and service has been dismal at best. We celebrated Father's Day there and first of all, the menu wasn't reprinted with the accurate pricing for drinks given it was a holiday. Even the sign out front still had the usual pricing - minus one star for not having consistent advertising, and minimal to no effort for a holiday weekend. Now let's talk about the food. I've had literal peasants in different countries cook more flavorful food. The croque madame looked like a grilled cheese with some sauce slapped on top of it and two very bland, low quality eggs added on top. My kid cooks better eggs if I'm being honest - and she's 8. It's a shame to call it an actual croque monsieur when from as far as I can tell some of the very critical ingredients of said dish were missing. Minus another star. Lastly, the service. The best part about the service was the bus boy. The drinks took forever to come out, and the restaurant was not packed (now that I think about it, maybe I'm not the only one who's noticed this lower quality...). Timing between the food was prolonged and even some of the basics weren't available. Whoever is placing the food orders for the kitchen should take better inventory. Minus another star. I'll sadly return to sitting at the bar with an espresso martini and appetizers to give them another chance, but I don't have the heart to bring family back after the service and quality/flavor of the food has been such a let down the last 3 times. read more

I wanted to love this place as I have stopped in for a drink at the bar while I wait for my hair appointment next door but what started out good just did not end great for me. We had a group of four on a Saturday and were told about a 40 min wait which we were on with and just grabbed a drink at the bar. Within 10 min we were seated so that was great. I ordered an orange tini which I loved. Service at the bar was quick. Once we got to our table we ordered appetizers the bread and Brussels sprouts. They were slide on to our table as a runner was passing by which felt a bit rude but we had food! Bread was good. Brussels sprouts were ok not seasoned enough but crispy. Food took some time which I don't mind but this is where the problem occurred for me. I soon as I touched my steak I knew it was rare. I asked for medium and usually don't mind some color but this was bad as the blood covered my plate I was not really as hungry and just didn't want to eat it anymore. Our waitress did notice and asked if she could take it bake and have them cook it a bit longer but we had already been there some time. We also got the short ribs which I like good flavor and portion. The salmon had good flavor but was a bit overcooked in my opinion. It was very busy so I know things happen out waitress did take the food off and gave me a drink. I appreciated her effort as food isn't always on them. Overall for me the experience was ok not sure if the food was worth for me this time. read more

A very unique place at the Danville downtown area. We order the calamari appetizer, the ahi Baja bowl, the French dip sandwich and bread pudding. The portions are quite large. The tuna on the Baja bowl was super fresh and tasty. Will definitely order that again next time. You do have to pay for bread service which we did. The bread was really good. There is lots of seating inside and outside on their covered patio and some at the bar where they have TVs. The service was decent as was the food. Short Story: An awesome restaurant in Danville. Long Story: I came here with a reservation, promptly seated, and given menus. We got the lamb shank, diablo shrimp, wings, buratta caprese, and more. They all came out cooked to perfection. The decor is really nice with lots of large windows for natural lighting. They also have a large wine and liquor selection. Parking can be a bit tough so get there early or be ready to walk. Verdict: I'm going back! read more

We've been here a few times and each time we've never had to wait long for a table which has been a plus. The food... is ok. We've tried a couple things like one of their burgers, steak, and one of their pastas. Wasnt bad, but not great either. I think my husband's steak the last time we went had pretty much no flavor. I've had the braised short ribs which was very good and flavorful. Their mocktails were good too. Overall, well probably be back at some point. Not the best food, but not the worst either. My favorite restaurant! I love all of Rodney's places but this is always my favorite! I've celebrate many of my birthdays here, family's Burundis and events here and it holds a special place in my heart. The good is always top notch as well as the service! Tonight I started with the Brussels sprouts that's are fried to perfect crisp perfection with bacon and garlic. No better way to start the meal! For my main dish I got the New York strip with fries and arugula. The steak was cooked to perfection! Perfect medium rare with a garlic and herb butter on top to add the perfect creamy/savory element. To finish thing's off I had the bourbon peach bread pudding. I think in my last review I mentioned how much I liked the bread pudding as the flavors are always changing. This turned out to be a great choice for a last minute dinner decision. Although we did not have a reservation for our large party, we were seated right away. Our server was so pleasant, and the staff and kitchen are on top of it. Drinks and hot food came out quickly. Other than the artichokes being a little tough/undercooked, our meals were really, really good. We had the short ribs (wow factor), pork chop (yum), beet salad (great), onion soup (nice and better than others), and pasta and chicken meals for the kids. Let's just say there were no leftovers! This restaurant is more peasant than pear. While the facility is modern and clean, they have a long way to improve in service and food quality. The pear quesadilla was miserable. Burned to a crisp on the bottom, overloaded with flavorless cheese and seriously crispy and tasteless pears. The black and blue salad was ok. The steak was tender and well seasoned but the huge blob of lettuce came from a Sysco bag. The smoked chicken salad sandwich was kinda gross. Just overloaded with mayo and served with cold hard fries. On a slightly happier note, the pear pizza was pretty good assuming you like blue cheese on a pizza. The soup was also pretty good. I didn't hear complaints about the short rib or salmon. The server was slow and unavailable a lot of time. She asked how the food was, and I mentioned the cold fries but she walked away. It took 55 minutes from seating until food arrived. They barely ever came by with water and they have a weird shortage of utensils. I'm not sure I'll go back. read more

We sat outside on the balcony so we could people watch and see the traffic go by. Our waitress was sweet. She was actually the bartender and I forgot her name unfortunately. Super chill and funny though. She recommended the pear quesadilla and while it's not something we would normally jump at ordering it's like where else would you find such a combo!? So we haddddd to give it a try and we are so glad we did! It was soooo good! Especially when you dip it in the chutney! A must order if you ask me! I also had the streak and fries but that was a 3/10. Dry and bland. Hard pass next time. We liked our drinks, you can never go wrong with warm sourdough and butter, and our flatbread pizza was good. I recommend asking for a bit more pears to offset the blue cheese ... then again, maybe we just aren't blue cheese people and should try something else. Either way, I would return. read more

Came here about a year ago with friends, fell in love with the place, It's in a great location. We love seating on the patio on a nice day enjoying the food drinks as well as people and car watching. Food is amazing at this place, however, service needs to improve, we had a family dinner last Saturday, they started mopping the floor on one section close to 9:00 PM when the restaurant is supposed to be closing at 9:30, literally asking us to leave & also the server was so impatient, he just served us appetizer and came back in a minute asking us if we were ready to order the main course, they all looked like they were in a hurry. This is not the first time this is happening here , this happened to us at the same location 3 months ago, the server was rushing us to order. The fisherman's stew had a hearty selection of seafood but the calamari rings were over cooked.
