This is a neat and clean park nestled between two schools. It was not crowded on a Sunday and has a unique feature of super long cement slides. Picnic benches are scattered on both sides of the park. Parking was easy and everything is green! There are nice walking/biking/scooter trails. Only downside is no restrooms are available. read more

I grew up a few blocks away from Brigadoon park . In the early 80's we use to use carpet flipped over to go down the cement slides . Now 40 years later everyone uses cardboard . The slides have not changed, only thing that has is people leave old cardboard trash all over the. read more

I have mixed feelings about this park. It is not very well maintained. However, the slides! Love the concrete slides and it reminds me of the Esmeralda slides in SF. You are never too old for slides and a lot of fun was had! There was a paved path that goes around the park that you can use to jog or walk. read more

Okay, it pretty much was date afternoon/night and my S/O takes me to an awesome cement slide thingamabobber. The slides look pretty steep and I hesitated at first but after the first slide, I was hooked! Hooked I tell you, hooked! There are plenty of cardboard boxes for everyone to use to slide faster. So down the slide we go to run back up the hill to do it again. Overall, the park is pleasantly clean. There is a playground set for the kiddos to run and play their hearts out. DO YOU NOT LIKE YOUR TAILBONE? THEN COME HERE!! Seriously, this place is absolutely classic. One of my fondest memories growing up in San Jose stems from this park--one day of my junior year of high school, I was hanging out with three of my friends that I had bonded with in English. We had gotten pho across the street and then walked over here just to hang out and slide around. These long concrete slides are definitely a product of a bygone era. These days, something like this would never, ever be approved simply because it's plain dangerous and irresponsible. That said, this is precisely the reason why this place is so amazing. These slides are absolutely steep, and they aren't for those afraid of heights or speed. The three they have here are of varying velocities, and you can try 'em all out in increasing order to really prime yourself. Pieces of cardboard litter the ground, and this is awesome: these things are the devices which you'll use to actually slide down these behemoths. I mean, you don't want your precious Levi's to get totally ripped, do you? No, of course not. Levi's never go on sale. My friends and I raced that day, which was super fun, and we decided it would be a totally awesome idea to go 2 vs 2. Basically, we took a giant piece of cardboard for each team, held onto each others' backs, and then went down in two-people units. Now, if you have any rudimentary understanding of physics, you'll see that this is a potentially risky proposition. With all that mass, we accumulated a TON of velocity with no real means of slowing down. Thus, it was glorious: we broke whatever implicit speed limit there was, and we catapulted as soon as we reached the end of the slide. For a brief moment, we were Calvin and Hobbes-esque: sled flying through the air, our faces captured with a mixture of pure adrenaline and fear. Then, we hit the ground--all I can really say is that tailbones were absolutely destroyed. This place is as OG as it gets. If you have anyone who isn't allergic to the idea of fun, they would most likely get a kick out of this place. Bring that little kid in you out again. Just make sure you have an extra tailbone waiting for you. read more

The concrete slides here are the best! The next time you're hanging around with your friends, bored and not wanting to spend much money, head over to Brigadoon Park for some cement slides action. If you think about it, take some cardboard boxes with you so you don't have to walk to the bottom and pick up pieces to use before you walk to the top and slide. Also, wear long sleeves and pants so you don't get friction burns going down the slides. haha The slide on the right is more narrow and faster. The park is pretty run down and not in the best neighborhood. (It did feel safe with tons of people working our early morning.) However, the giant cement slides make up for it. Our 2.5 year old could not get enough of it and he got a great workout to get put some energy climbing the massive hill to get to the top of the slides! read more

It's spacious, my son and I feel somewhat safe here, being that the playground is easy to keep an eye on from a picnic blanket. grass is always green and fun to run around. The swings, minus the few parents who doesn't watch their children and lets them dash in front of swingers, are safe-ish, no rusty nails or dried up seat for swings. (And to those parents who allows their children to run right in front of swingers instead of going around, don't yell when I try to stop my son's swing from hitting your child! I tried, you try stop a full swinging child on it :/) The ice cream man! Haha okay, Shawn's ice cream truck, I love that he is always there and you can call him 30 minutes advance to come over if you want something from his truck. I'm such a piggy. The field of green grass is beautiful. What I love the most about this place is seeing little kids holding a piece of cardboard and sliding down the hillside. All you have to do is bring a piece of cardboard big enough to sit on and a whole lot of balls to slide down. I've seen little kids do this like nbd, but personally I've never been able to myself. Ive seen my friends hit the ground and I would like to keep my face thank you. But the other 80% of the time, it looks super fun when my friends do it LOLOL so I would still recommend if I haven't scared you off. damn, I thought I'd be the first to dip into the nostalgia factor and review these slides. This park played a huge role in my adolescence and high school years. This park was in the best location ever-behind my elementary school and across from my high school. So naturally it was used by all the neighborhood kids, families, and wanne-be stoner kids from high-school. I spent many happy hours careening down the slides on bits of greased cardboard to end up in the tanbark. TANBARK, people. When was the last time you heard that word thrown around? so what are these hyped up slides like? You can climb up the easy way, which is up the path leading from the sidewalk, or y ou can walk up the face of the hill, hanging on to the chain link railings to get up to the top. One of the slides has proper walls and the other two slides ares side by side, so you can time your slide with a friend sitting next to you or like those Warner Bros cartoons, trade punches with whomever is sliding down next to you. read more

I've been living around the corner from this cute little park for 23 years now, so you can say I'm a bit biased. My first cuts and bruises were at this place and I'll have to say that they have definitely improved this park over the years, especially in terms of making it a lot safer for kids! What's the most unique and best thing about this park are the set of CONCRETE SLIDES. They're bigger and taller than any plastic slide you've ever been on. The concrete slides go up a whole side of a hill and it's a slide that you can enjoy as a young daring child or as an old adult with your young child. They've definitely made the tall slides safer over the years by adding handrails, guardrails, and pathways up the hill. Don't underestimate these slides! I feel the heavier you are, the faster you go. My friends and I have definitely shot out at the end of the slide only to buttplant in a pile of cardboard and tanbark. But these slides definitely make this a unique and exciting park to be enjoyed by all. Aside from the slides, there's open grassy areas, picnic tables and BBQ pits making this park a popular place for family parties on the weekends. Don't be surprised if the place fill up fast! Note - there are no bathrooms/porta potties at this park. There's a cute bridge that goes through the playground that has been there for 20 years! PRO-TIP from someone who has scaled these concrete slides for 10+ years, use an empty rice sack instead of cardboard...it's more comfortable on the booty and you'll go faster. ;] read more

The big slides! Who doesn't know the big slides! Even when I didn't live a few blocks away from this park my mom would bring me here as a kid. Pure nostalgia hits me when I come here nowadays. Those huge cement slides are no joke, be careful cause they shoot you right off especially if you got that cardboard to sit on haha. Recently I came back here and it was super packed, so I wouldn't plan my bbqs or birthday parties at this park, but a nice place to bring kids during the week or just hang out with some friends. read more

Omg!! Cement slides!!! Now this brings back memories =] I practically grew up here. I remember I could always land at the bottom, well most of the time lol, like this one time I didn't even try and land, and the cardboard stuck and I skidded like a rock across the park I was laughing so hard!. It was one of the funniest and memorable things I have ever experienced! And if I wasn't ruining my jeans or getting an outline of my cell phone in my back pocket I was bruising my bum or getting a concussion from falling off the playground from playing "Hot lava Monster" or Id be on the swings trying to jump off as high as I could without killing myself. =] I am 20 years old and this place still gets my heart pumping when I think about running around this place! Ive mastered a skateboard and roller blades down those sweet slides its bad ass!! =] This place has been a part of my life since I was a little girl and I know Davey and I will be bringing our kids here one day! I love this little park. Not tons of room but enough. Stuff for the kids to climb on, grass area for them to run around in. Also happens to have one of the most dangerous park attractions I've ever seen! Two giant concrete slides. Yes you heard correct. Concrete. Slides. People bring cardboard and risk their melons sliding down on a thin piece of cardboard down these death traps. Looks like fun but don't ask me to do it. Three stars only because there's not too many picnic areas or benches. And the few can get pretty filled up with families on a nice day for a BBQ, or whatever get together. There is a school across the street with a decent little track too which is a pretty awesome perk in my opinion. read more

Ahhh yes ... Brigadoon Park. I have a few high school memories here. You know, those times where you don't have much money to spend, are bored out of your mind, but just want to chill with your friends? This was the spot! The concrete slides are legit! I have battle scars on my knee from a time I tried to slide down with a summer dress on. Terrible idea by the way ... I definitely ate it ): but still had tears of laughter streaming down my face afterward. Ok, maybe because I was in pain too, but that's besides the point! The park itself is a bit ghetto IMO. Not an ideal place to have a BBQ since there's only a few pits and not much seating. There's also a playground, but the concrete slides are definitely where it's at! However, I don't recommend these slides for smaller children since you can slide down pretty fast, which clearly leaves for potential injuries! read more

This park is in my current neighborhood and I have fond memories of it "way back when" growing up. I love it in the spring and summer seasons when it's bubbling with life. The infamous cement slides with screaming kids and sometimes grown-ups makes me reminisce as I walk my babies on the open paths. My only complaint is that the city doesn't take care of this park like it does the other Evergreen parks, in my opinion. I done know why they would put down wood bark in the once green grass lined area on Brigadoon. I wish the city would put more lighting and replant grass to make the park beautiful. Also, update the BBQ pits and put in new trash and recycle bins. read more

Ok, let me preface, I am reviewing from a blurry childhood memory, that is most likely very distorted. I have not been to this park since I was like 4 years old, I'm in my late 20s now, living in SF. My family used to live in a townhouse adjacent to Montgomery Elementary, which I attended from kindergarten to 1st grade before moving to the Southside - I believe my kindergarten teachers' name was Ms. West. I, like most people remember the concrete hill slides and cardboard necessary to slide down, unless you wanted to go really slow and have your ass set on fire from the friction, and the amazing thing is I don't remember anyone getting hurt ( dude, there has to be some better modern day space material that would allow for high-speed concrete sliding, although, I bet I could do a mean fixie skid slide all the way down), Anyway, 5 stars for the memories, that visionary genius that built the slide!!! read more

Love it here. They have updated since I've remember with new slides, playgrounds, repainted the bridge. I like renovations in the park. It means that it is well used and appreciated. There are little bbq areas you can set up for your parties. Always a party or two going on during the weekends. read more

The stone slides have been here since I grew up here and now my children get to enjoy it! The playground area is nice and theres lots pf shade in the area. Its great for morning walks. It does attract high school students who don't exactly make it to school sometimes but thats not a the time. read more

Not only did I used to live super close by to here, This park has improved since I was little. I love that you can still find some cardboard laying about for others to use to slide down the slides. Definitely wear something long pants, or cotton pants for girls, because it is inevitable that you will scratch your arms or legs or both. This park features a wide field of green grass, lots of swings, 2 playground for little kids or those young at heart and 3 GIANT SLIDES. The slides are the best attraction of this park. The slides are not as scary as they look and actually pretty fun. They are perfect for getting over your fear or heights or be even more terrified of heights for the rest of your life. I recommend bringing cardboard to preserve the integrity of your tailbone when going down the slides. In my experience, thick cardboard is better and helps you go down faster than thin cardboard. Parking is pretty easy to find in the surrounding neighborhood as well. The downside is that the neighborhood isn't as nice and there are no bathrooms. Brigadoon park is perfect for all ages. read more

This place was so fun! It looks amazing at night with the lights of the nearby stadium. I came with my best friend to go on the cement slides. There are three slides to go down -- 2 with a smaller sidewalls and one with a higher sidewall to keep you protected and slow you down. I like that the slide has the little walls to keep you in the slide and not slip and turn off the slide's trail to somewhere else. It was a little nerve wrecking for me to go down the slide, but after getting through it... it was so much fun. Be prepared to slide down and land on the floor and slide a little extra, unless you are good at stopping yourself! They all were fun. There are cardboard already there at the bottom of the slide for others to use. I would definitely bring someone here to cheer them up. read more

THis park is pretty fun. I went with some friends a while ago and we brought cardboard and plastic trays from mcdonalds to slide with. Needless to say, we quickly nixed the cardboard and went all plastic. By the end of the night we had holes in our pants and ripped our undies because we were going that damn fast. read more

Decent park which has three cement slides to go down. They are somewhat steep so if you bring your little one be careful. It's clean and in a nice area of Silver Creek (actually right next to the high school). Good for families wanting a nice area to have a family day. read more

This park is located between an elementary school and Silver Creek High School. There's two main parts to this park. One half of the park has swings and a big grassy field. The other has three long cement slides and two small playgrounds. The playground has the rubber material and tan bark. The two is parts is divided by a small bride. There's street parking surrounding the park from sunrise to sunset. There's various small bbq pits and small picnic tables/benches on both side. On the bottom of the cement slides often has a bunch of cardboard pieces. It's ideal to sit on them when going down the slide because the friction could cause your jeans to get a hole or have a tear. It's a nice open park that can get crowded fast but worth a visit because it's the only park that I know that has a super long cement slide. read more
