Customer Service & Quality on STEROIDS! Where do I begin... I bought a newly-built home. To say the least, I was overwhelmed and on a strict budget. All I wanted to do is move in and not deal with anything else. HOWEVER, that's not how it works. With newly-built homes you MUST comply with HOA guidelines, which states the owner(s) must build out their backyard within 90 days. YIKES! I didn't budget for that! I thought about building it out on my own and saving money. But, I did that before. It ain't easy. It's time consuming and I'm NOT a professional. So, I went o Yelp for quotes. I even had people knocking at my door. I got their quotes. I called them. And, none of them impressed me. They lack professionalism. The only company that not only impressed me but showed the most amount of interest in not only meeting my expectations but exceeding them was Bright Home. I know what you may be thinking, "That's got to be ridiculously expensive." Honestly, it wasn't cheap, but it was DEFINITELY competitive and EXTREMELY well done! I received 3 quotes (by smaller independent companies) before going with Bright Home. THEY WERE MORE EXPENSIVE and offering me less! One even wanted me to ignore my HOA guidelines and just get started. And, their lack of ethics greatly concerned me. So, they were quickly dismissed. Most landscapers will sell you on their interpretation of your vision, by only providing you a hand drawing or verbal agreement. But, Bright Home provides you with an online 3-D rendering. And, they can make changes during your meeting, within seconds, until you are satisfied. PLUS, they provide you 3 iterations of the concept before they even get started!!! Their software is magnificent! It's like you are walking through your backyard - ONLINE!! By the time they started their work and provided me with the blueprint rendering I knew I made the right decision. Last but certainly not least, Bright Home prioritizes their work. That means you have a dedicated project manager and team. They don't multitask, working on your backyard and someone else's - taking weeks and months to finish. When they start, they don't stop until it's done! Only rain delays your finished product. As well, you have a personal portal to mange your documents, payments as well as before and after pictures. So I've never actually hired Bright Home Landscapes however, I have gone through very thorough estimate process with them twice at two homes and both times they were beyond friendly, helpful, and professional. With our first estimate, we ended up choosing to move instead of rehabilitating the house and yard at our old home. And in the second instance more recently, we had some necessary work inside our house pop up that was more pressing at this time, so we're putting off major landscape work for a couple more years. Every time I've been interacted with this company they have been so so sweet and beyond helpful. Most recently, I deeply appreciated Kyler's attention to detail and working our budget constraints. Bright Home Landscapes' designer, Brianna created the backyard landscape design. She was receptive to suggestions and collaboration. We went to the nursey to hand select each and every plant. Brianna generated the plant list, submitted the plans to the nursey and provided me with rock samples. Karly, Annastasia and Julie, from her office team, were extremely helpful with any additional questions. The construction\landscape crew were timely and worked diligently. I appreciated their dedication. One area that I think could be improved is more proactive communication, better anticipation of customer's questions and details. There were also issues with holding to set design meeting times and the readiness of the landscape plans. Days\times that were quoted would change. I understand the need for flexibility, but schedule changes were more constant than desired. Lastly, payment options are restrictive--no personal checks accepted. Money orders and cashier checks are allowed and credit cards with a 6% exorbitant service fee charge. All in all, the landscaping is turning out wonderfully and is truly transforming the yard! read more

Having a new build and not having any idea how to tackle the bare backyard, lead for me and my wife to contact bright home landscapes. The women in the office went through what the company provides estimate and their design process. We ended up going the design route with their senior designer Brianna. We were then able to take the yoke to build out our ideas while getting input from her. The transition to construction was incredible as our designer also transitioned into our project manager. I'm overall disappointed in Bright Homes Landscapes. Sure, our front yard looks better, but it was the many issues and the manner in which all the issues were handled is where my concern lies: -BHL demanded payments before work was completed yet the CSLB law clearly states that isn't allowed. Upon bringing it up, I was told it's just how it's done. -Trash & cigarette butts were repeatedly left by the workers. They also used my neighbors grass as a break room, which I also find unacceptable. -Flashing material was installed incorrectly. I was forced to buy more material and pay a different contractor to install it per code. BHL refused to reimburse me. -Multiple egregious hardscape issues were obvious & and BHL argued with me to fix them. They eventually did but my point is: the quality checks I was promised didn't happen, the issues should have been caught before the cement dried. The issues where: a) curb colors were not unanimous (beyond manufacturer discolorations) - the pile of leftover curbs had plenty better matching options, b) a dark outer stone was mistakenly used in the lighter inner section of the front porch step c) and the curb was installed too close to the home after asking to leave space for the siding that had to be replaced & d) when the curbs didn't line up at the corner, they used a 2 inch sliver that was poorly cut to fill in the leftover space when 2 curb pieces should have been cut slightly shorter to fill it the space so that it didn't leave such an eye sore. Expecting it to look decent seemed to be too much of an ask. -A different plant was selected without my knowledge. Once I said something about it, I was told I didn't speak up soon enough. I was then forced to re-buy & replant them myself. -The rock river was designed to be very curvy yet installed almost straight. They eventually moderately fixed it but still wasn't like the design. -I was never allowed to see amount I paid for vs what was used vs what was taken away (bark, rocks, pebbles, etc.). The lack of transparency is concerning. -A boulder was accidentally dropped on 2 plants, only 1 was replaced. -The polymeric sand used between the pavers: I was offered & agreed to black, grey was installed without discussion. Upon the attempt to fix it, the workers then installed TAN sand. Their offer to 'fix' it was to have someone scrape it out, backfill with grey - it was never made fully right, even after a different BHL worker was sent and tried to fill it. The 'nothing more we can do' mindset was upsetting. -Electrical cord was poorly installed. I expected a line that drapes across the porch eaves be taut. -The privacy fence: agreed to black metal posts with wood slats, I was informed at the very last minute that it would be wood posts now. Then saw that the design was not as we discussed. I thought I could just paint the posts black to get the same visual affect, but the wood slats were installed in front of the posts. Now I'm left to attempt an aftermarket fix myself (almost 6 months later, 4 trips to the hardware store, a metal manufacturer and a powder coater later, it's still not done). I'm left to deal with this on my own because upon begging to make it right, BHL offered to help with a portion of the metal cost only, but only if I put up a BHL sign in my front yard. I felt, with how things had gone up to this point, was highly inappropriate. I was offended at the ask. -Once we had our first rain, part of the yard flooded. They fixed it after I found it & asked for a fix, but I feel they should know how to correctly place the drains in the first place to prevent such an issue. -While I approved the plant placement the day they set them out, it was before the boulders were on site, so the end result left gaps and spaces that could have been prevented and now it's too late. Before hiring BHL, I really did my homework. I shopped around, compared, did my research and truly felt I landed the very best company to do this job, but this entire experience still leaves quite the bitter aftertaste. They say 10 years covered. But, when you report the issue, it is NOT covered. They point to manufacturing or call it maintenance work. Pavers are installed unevenly. There are gaps between pavers. Broken pavers are used to install. When I ask them to replace, they ask me to work with the manufacturer. No proper cleaning end of the project. They left materials and waste on site. Tire marks. I would just like to give a big thank you to Bright Home Landscapes for completing our backyard renovation. I rarely write reviews, but when you receive such quality service I just had to write this review. We have been putting off our renovation for years, but after dealing with serious drainage problems, old cracked aggregate concrete decking, plants with inefficient sprinklers, and a spa that was too unappealing to ever use, we decided to take the plunge. We knew we wanted to hire a company with a true landscape designer who would give us fresh ideas on how to transform our 30+ y/o backyard into one that we would be proud of when entertaining friends and family. We interviewed other companies but we could quickly see that their emphasis was not on creating a true original design. We needed to resurface our pool and our pool contractor, Tristen Traynor of Pool Time Pool and Spa (also very satisfied with their work), referred me to Anastasia of Bright Home Landscapes. We felt very comfortable with Anastasia after our first visit. She spent a great deal of time taking measurements and photos of our backyard, then scheduled a f/u visit to present her design ideas. On her next visit she presented us with a computerized rendering of her design. We were blown away at how original her design was, and we only offered a few minor changes to her design. She went into detail of how much the reno would cost before and after her applied discounts. We felt that her estimate was quite reasonable and decided to let her begin the project. From start to finish the project progressed without a hitch. Anastasia was on site with her team very frequently. She discussed with us any changes that she recommended, and some changes added costs to the project, but frequently some of the changes decreased the costs. The next morning, after each site visit, I would receive an email from Anastasia detailing everything that was discussed the previous day. We met at different showrooms to pick out pavers and wall materials. She provided us with her plant recommendations, then met with us at nurseries to actually look at the plants and get our input for any preferences that we had. From beginning to end there were no surprises, and we knew exactly what we were paying for. We have used designers before for other projects, but we have never worked with anyone like Anastasia before. She has the rare ability to understand the personalities of her clients, and that gives her the ability to lay out the best plan and design. This isn't surprising since Anastasia is such a friendly and genuine "people" person, and so easy to work with. Anastasia is not only a talented designer, but has incredible knowledge of virtually every aspect of the project. Every cost whether small or large was discussed. With every project there are changes that are necessary, and she had excellent recommendations at every turn, and many of those changes actually saved us money. The project was finished much quicker than we anticipated. Our drainage problems are resolved, including the installation of a permanent sump pump near our driveway. We love our pavers around the pool, the sitting area with our new veneered wall, and the planting areas with the Sonoma Gold rock. The existing and new plants are all on a drip system which will definitely decrease our water bill. Here is why: Contract: Nathan (owner) and Anastasia (operations manager/designer) invested significant time with us to understand our needs. Contracts and change orders were easily understandable and clearly specific, so there were never any surprises. Anastasia was infinitely patient in addressing numerous questions about the details. Professionalism/Communication: From day one this was quite literally flawless. Emails, texts and phone calls were quickly returned, requested needs were addressed, details were always made clear and all this was done with an abundance of cheer and a respect for the client. Landscape Design: We had the unbelievably good fortune to work with Anastasia, who also trains the design team. Ani is a creative and talented designer (not to mention a completely delightful person) and her plan blew away the others (8 in total) we had done over the past two years. I credit this to truly listening to her clients. Demolition and Installation: The team worked exceptionally hard and efficiently, even in triple digits. Pricing - We got three estimates and BHL was maybe a little above the middle of the pack. If saving money is your primary concern, there are other contractors that are probably more appropriate. But you can certainly spend way more on a lesser contractor. Unequivocal Customer Satisfaction: All of these accolades are not because everything went perfectly. On the contrary, there were countless challenges. But that's precisely when a quality company stands out - and Bright Homes Landscapes shines like no other. I quite literally have never experienced the same level of customer service from any other company. Every single time there was a problem it was absolutely addressed so that the customer was completely satisfied. I hired BHL for my backyard, and have somewhat of a mixed review. The good points of this company is that they will work with tweaking the design until you are happy. The guys who actually DO the work are a great team of very hard working, friendly, helpful and precise guys. They did a great job! I have absolutely no complaints about them, and love the final project. There are areas, however, in customer service that the designer/manager really didn't communicate well with me. There were some surprise costs that were not fully explained to me in advance. They also do not do all of the project--thus if you want a pergola, you have to arrange and pay separately. Need an electrician? Again, you have to pay them separately. Want plants in your garden. You guessed it, go buy them and arrange the delivery yourself. Want a fountain...ah yes, I do. Go and buy one and pay for the delivery, or pay a very high fee for a custom one (which would have been another $4000 over what the fountain I bought was). I have had landscapers do work for me at my previous home, and every detail was taken care of. With this company, plan to have extra time to handle these areas. My main area of aggravation had to do getting the plants. They told me that Green Acres would deliver (free with orders over $750-which I did spend there). Green Acres, however, could not deliver within the time frame that I needed the plants--so I stood there in the store trying to sort all that out. Anastasia had mentioned to me that if I couldn't pick everything up, she could assist me. I literally thought she meant she herself would assist me. She said that she had a larger vehicle. That wasn't the case. When I called her see said that would be an extra $75 fee for them to send a truck over. While that is a relatively small fee, considering I was spending over $24,000 with them, it was also petty. The small things matter, and I am an older women who wound up hauling everything myself, in my car, and carrying 20 plants, 5 of them were 5 gallon size--to the backyard. Luckily I was able to do it, and all of the plants look fine, despite the tall ones having to be laid down in my car, which left me a big car clean up job, but got the plants there on time. Lastly, and this is also something that matters--she was consistently late for pretty much every appointment, but she usually contacted me that she was running late, and acknowledges that the company does need to improve having the designer as separate from the project manager to improve these areas of time management and assisting with plant delivery. So, bottom line. The hard surface work was excellent. The customer service? Needs improvement. read more

My wife and I have been looking to get our backyard done for years now. We went with Bright home landscape and are glad that we did. Anastasia set us up a appointment with our designer Paris. Anastasia was very professional and I could tell this company was going to be legit. Paris came by the house and we talked about our budget and what was needed with our vision of the yard. Paris sent us digital rendering's of the backyard. We loved it. The process only took about a week once the construction started. I must say Paris couldn't have been more professional and was available anytime throughout the day. I will try to take some more pictures. BH Landscapes has been very professional and kind throughout the whole planning of our backyard project. Paris was our assigned PM for the project, and worked with us to create an outdoor living space that was suitable for our budget. This was also the only landscaping company that I knew of accommodates affordable installment payments! Because usually, most companies need the money upfront. Which most folks probably don't really have yet. I would highly recommend these guys for your next project. Many might say they could be pricier than most contractors. I was really excited to work with Bright Home Landscape. After initial consultation with Nathan and a couple of emails, they ghosted me. I don't know if I did something wrong or they are just extremely busy... either way I didn't appreciate being left with no response; especially when I started communicating early enough to hopefully get on their schedule. Luckily no payments had been made, so I just have to restart my search for a landscape design and installer, that will hopefully not ghost me and will respond, even if the answer is "no, sorry our availability is limited until xx" In these times everyone is so busy and business is going well in this industry... it's a shame to see that folks are forgetting simple basic items like communication, tack and professionalism. read more

Our backyard started as a muddy mess of  soil and rocks , not really a place you want to hang out  and stay to be honest considering we bought a newly-constructed house. Boomer our Chihuahua would rather go indoors rather than roam the backyard.  We found Brighthome Landscapes thru Yelp to do our landscaping and are extremely happy with the work they did.  Nate (the owner) gave us a very reasonable price and we really appreciated that they were flexible with our budget. Throughout the process we really appreciated how the builders were patient and accommodating to our questions and concerns, explaining  clearly step by step as the work progressed.  They worked quick considering the weather constraints, also made it a point to clean up after each day of work. After everything was done they did a great job on our backyard. Shout out to Manuel, Hugo, Omar and Hugo Jr. for an excellent job! We would also like to mention that our designer, Brianna did an awesome job designing the yard that it now looks like a space you would want to hang out all the time.  We had a concept in mind but we couldn't articulate how to describe it. Brianna was able to design the yard the way we envisioned it. We were surprised how her design made the area look more spacious. She was in constant contact with us throughout the build process and gave us regular status updates  and in  the end gave us the yard we wanted . The wide open turf area is Boomer's  most favorite area now,  he always gets a case of the zoomies once out in the backyard. Boomer says thanks Brianna ! :)  ) In closing, getting Brighthome Landscapes to do our backyard was an excellent and pleasant experience,  we as first -time homeowners were amazed how less stress it was  because they were in constant contact with us with all the logistics and timelines.   In the end we got an awesome, profesionally done backyard. *** One more update...is it possible to be furious and relieved at the same time? Bright Homes Landscapes set me up for failure from the get-go. The irrigation specialist I hired came out today to troubleshoot the backyard system. I had him check 12 plants, and one tree. All of them showed visible signs of struggling. He replaced black emitters with green emitters. The worst situation he found was with the strawberry tree. This tree's tubing was staked in the ground, which would not allow any shifting or movement, a good idea. The bad part was that the tubing and black emitter were so far away from the tree and facing away from the tree so that the only thing getting water was the tree post. He replaced the black emitter with a yellow one. I feel a huge sense of relief that my drought tolerant plants stand a better chance of survival now. **Update In response to the business owner...the irrigation specialist I hired came over immediately. The lack of water had to do with incorrect emitters (black) that he replaced with green emitters. And come to find out there were no emitters whatsoever on two existing shrubs in the front yard fence area that BHL assured me were part of the project. Three of the existing shrubs in the same front yard fence area were hooked up to the irrigation system. So it becomes a guessing game. Does this shrub need to be hand watered? How about that one? I only had him check the front yard. There are issues with the backyard too. I'll have the specialist come out again next week. I am surprised I haven't lost more plants than I have. But that has more to do with my diligence with hand watering. It is my view that I am under no obligation to give a company a second chance. read more

I cried when I saw my backyard!!! My husband surprised the family when he got on board to redo or just DO our backyard. We had what one could call a dry land and now is a lush resort backyard. I came across Nathan Peralta through a family member who was raving about his work a year later after getting her backyard done. And was the focal point for any family gatherings because of how beautiful it came out to be. We started during the spike of Covid. I was scared to death. But Nathan and this company really showed their commitment to theirs and ours safety at day one. We met all the crew by name, there was temp checks everyday, sanitizers was all over, even covering there faces during work. Nathan came up with the idea for clean zones where only my family goes and only one designated crew member could go if need be. Which eased the anxiety and kept this whole process smooth. Nathan was able to walk through our backyard and pull my ideas and all the wants of my famines together. What blew me away is that Nathan is artist. Really! He was able to not only drawl quick little ideas which were amazing to show my husband who let's just say has a hard time at " envisioning" so his ability to drawl really comes in handy for real looks and pen to paper. Bright Home Landscapes is absolutely one of the best companies I've ever had the pleasure dealing with.
