When we moved to the Orlando area 2/4/10, I already had an appointment for Bright House to arrive bright and early the next morning. I can do without television for a while, but please don't take away my wi-fi! We only had two TVs to setup: An HD in the living room and a regular 'ole 27" in the bedroom. They had to swap the box out in the living room 3 times before they found one on their truck which worked and the guy had to call Bright House several times with codes of some sort to get it going. He informed me the person on the other end of the phone kept "dropping the ball." When everything was finally all set up, he handed me a channel guide and was out the door. Gee... Thanks! I wasn't impressed because the last two services we have had actually took the time to sit down once everything was set up and explain the remote, guide, etc. and also ask if I had any questions. OK. No problem. I'm a smart cookie. I can figure out a remote. I was just disappointed in the customer service. A week later, the REAL problems started! The DVR Box in the bedroom went completely out. It took 3 days for me to get an appointment and they had to replace the box. Nice, I lost everything I had recorded and had yet to watch. I specifically asked for a new box and they informed me they had no new boxes and it was just hit or miss with the box you receive. Nice to know. Since that time, Bright House has been out to visit us 7-8 times. I've lost count at this point. During one of the visits, the technician even charged me a $30 "Customer Education" fee. Excuse me?? That was promptly credited to my bill. I've also lost count of how many credits we have received because of lost service with cable and the internet. It is so ridiculous. I actually added Bright House into my favorites on my iPhone so I can find the number quickly. Yes, that's how often one or all of our services go out. Not one technician has yet to be able to identify the problem. In addition to the home visits. I call at least once a week (usually 2-3 times a week) because service goes down and they have to reboot the boxes from their end. I understand these things happen.... occasionally. You get to wait on hold, explain the situation, blah, blah, blah... done. But I have to call so much the word "annoyed" isn't even a strong enough word for what I feel when I have to call them. On the plus side, if there truly is one, every single person I have spoken with on the phone has been extremely nice, friendly, and courteous. And there have been a few times I've called and not been so nice myself; but, the person at customer service still listened patiently and calmly and helped me. I just feel I shouldn't need this much help! Customer Service has also informed me it could have something to do with the apartments we are in. Possibly old wiring, etc. They have also assured me this is not a regular problem. We are moving as soon as our lease is up, so I'll stick it out with Bright House for now because they have said once we move things should be much better. We'll see and I'll write a new review after we move and have settled in for a few months. But if things continue to be the same, it's back to satellite for us! read more

I have had this firm for 15 years I repeatedly would always ask them for discounts on my TV but they always would say none were available. Finally I called one last time and ask for a discount and they said there were none available. It is really simple you just pick up the phone get Internet and stream all your TVs and movies and it saves you hundreds of dollars a month on your cable bill. Secondly I just reached out to them to put in Internet in my home and they said that would be a free install they did not say that I would have to install it myself another lie and deceitful practice by spectrum. Horrible customer service, trying to move my mother-in-laws phone service from Brooksville to Spring Hill, no show appointments. When they finally showed up the tech left, telling my 86 year old mother in law he needed something and has yet to return. Trying to work with Spectrum is proving to be impossible. Go to the Spectrum store and the system necessary happens to be down. On line chat, the agent cuts off before the chat starts. Phone support, if and when you get through, the system is down or the agent cannot access the account. read more

Holy mother of G_d! This is the worst selection of cable channels imaginable for what I'm paying. I upgraded to the Silver I believe, and I am astonished at how crappy the selection is. How much GD money do I have to pay to get a decent channel lineup? I'm being held hostage in an apartment complex where I believe I have to have Spectrum, but I'm gonna doublecheck on that. Warning: Do not trust Charter Spectrum sales reps. We were badly misled by one this week. This guy intentionally lied about prices and options just to close a sale. It was a blatant bait and switch. If you are considering working with them, be sure to get everything in writing before installation. Their words mean nothing. I learned today that there is a big disconnect between their sales department and customer service department, which allows shady sales reps to lie and work in the grey area without evidence or consequences. I am simply amazed at how bad Bright House is. The only thing they have going for them is the fact they sealed up the market somehow blocking competitors from coming in. I was told that if Bright House was in an area they are the only ones that you can get service from. This is a travesty to the public. There is no competition on service providers so we are forced to endure the substandard service they provide. It is time that we force them to fix their issues. I have been in Orlando for right at a year. Prior to moving here I lived in Guadalajara Mexico. I was shocked coming here and finding that there was no fiber optic internet in Orlando. Is this town that technologically challenged? I have only had the opportunity to deal with BH for my services. I have always paid for the 45 MB internet after continuously having bandwidth issues I started doing periodic speed checks. The fasted recorded speed over a year was 17.8 MBS. I spoke to BH about this and their reply was you are paying for "UP TO 45." I told the sales rep that in my speed log I have 45 and 50+ but that was when I was with another carrier. Prey tell me why there is not a better service in Orlando. I told the sales person if that is the case and I only get 15 that is what I want to pay for. So he down graded my service. What I expected was to still get the 15 that I have always gotten. Well that is not the case. For some reason I only now get 2-5 MBS. That have oversold the bandwidth in the markets and we are paying for it. To me this is fraud sell one thing and then throttle the bandwidth down so much that you can't get what you pay for. Google fiber or AT&T's ADSL needs to come to orlando and they will put BH out of business. So if you are looking for a place to live in Orlando look for a place that does not have BH for services. read more

Brighthouse is awful. Literally, the only reason I have Brighthouse is because no other internet or cable service providers are available in my area. My only other option is to get satellite service, and I don't want to sign a contract. I cannot wait to move so I can get rid of them. I had numerous issues with their internet service, which they refused to diagnose since I was using my own modem (because they charge monthly if you use theirs). I had to add one of their modems to my service, go pick it up, install it, and wait for the problem to recur before they would sent someone out. Turns out their installation tech pinched the cable on the side of my house in the siding, which made a hole in the cable covering, and it would short out every time it rained, cutting off my internet. Great work guys. Then yesterday we added cable service. The tech was here for 4 hours and we were only having 2 rooms installed. First he had the wrong boxes, so someone came to exchange them. Then one box was not working, so he had to come back. Then we were informed that since one outlet wasn't connected it would be $20 to fix that, and another $40 to add an outlet where the tv was in the other room. Free installation, yea right! Cox in Gainesville installed multiple outlets for free when I lived there, and only charged $25 to come back out to add another one later. Most importantly, I wasn't told about any of these charges while scheduling the appointment. Then they said they had to upgrade my modem (it is a nicer modem) but it wasn't just a modem; it was a big gateway (wireless router + modem) that barely fit where I keep the modem and router. I told the tech, well, since this is the modem, why don't we just take my router out of the equation so don't have problems when I call for tech support. He said OK but there's a monthly charge for adding wireless networking. Apparently they use the same equipment, but charge you to "unlock" the wireless feature of your router. Ridiculous. MOST IMPORTANTLY, their TV service and internet speeds are NOTHING SPECIAL for what you pay. My bill is $140 after tax and i get 30mbps internet and their ONLY AVAILABLE digital cable package with HD DVR in 2 rooms. Verizon Fios offered 3x faster speeds and 2x as many channels in 2x as many rooms for less than that when my girlfriend lived in Tampa. Ridiculous. I tried to negotiate with BH and explain that they were more expensive and had fewer features than other companies, could they give me an incentive to order cable, and I was told that BH does not offer price matching or other discounts. Lastly, the Brighthouse TV app is STILL not working for us. This whole company is terrible. read more

I thought I was checking into Bright house stadium, but it turned out to be this instead. So I'll go ahead and review their Cable and internet service anyway. I've used Bright house for at least 10 years now. Some things I enjoy are: * Their 24 hours CFNews13 channel * On Demand channels and being about to start a show over. * Their DVR service, and the features it comes with (I haven't used any other DVRs, so I can't compare) * Their customer service has been fair to me, even as far to remove a late charge, because my credit card had expired and I didn't update the new date in time. * When a problem with service occurs, they are usually really good at fixing it. There was a break in the cable line, and they came out the same day, and spent a couple hours replacing the underground cable. Because it was outside my house, there was no charge. * Another time I accidentally hit the cable with a shovel, and they just had me pay the monthly accidental breakage fee. * Their service is pretty much uninterrupted, even when there are huge storms. Heck, when Hurricane Charlie hit, I kept getting service until my power went out. Pretty awesome! * Their basic road runner service is good enough for me, and I use it to log into work, stream movies and download large files. I tried their faster internet service and didn't really notice a difference when I downgraded. Some things I don't like or could use improvement: * Their Digital TV show search could be more advanced. Right now you can only search by the TV show's title and only from the first word of the title. It would be nice to search any part of the shows name, actors names and genre, to name a few. It shouldn't be that hard to program something like this in (I'm a software developer, so should know...right?) * When I start a show from the beginning, why can't i fast forward? Seriously!? * I have had promotions added to my bill, and when they expired, I didn't realize they continued them and started charging me. Not cool. Especially since I had a paperless bill and they make you log in through some hurdles to see it online. I ended up making them send me paper bills, so I could see exactly what they were charging me for each month. I wish they would just email the bill, embedded or in a PDF or something. I've really had no reason to go anywhere else, and from what I've heard from friends, there's always pros and cons with any cable service you go with. read more

Worst ever service. Slow as molasses, constant outages, terrible customer service. Rude installers, junk equipment and TOTAL MISREPRESENTATION OF INTERNET SPEEDS. You pay for high speed and get continental drift speeds..... really. To make matters worse - my card expired and they did NOT notify me by voicemail or email - despite insisting they did. I have been a customer for 5 years with no late or missed payments until this. I should have known I was paying with a card and that it expired, but I should also have been notified. As a result they cut my service in the middle of a business week. Payments (4/10): I had been a loyal customer with Brighthouse Networks for about 3 years. Over the course of that time my internet bill increased by $10 dollars a month. When I finally stopped my service I was paying $65.00 a month for 2MB download speeds. Customer Service: (0/10) Whenever I needed service or repair for my constantly spotty internet connection I usually had to spend an hour+ on the phone trying to connect to a customer service specialist. Then, I would have to wait about 2 days for a tech to come to my house and wait at home to be there for a 4 hour window for them to arrive. Even after every "fix" with a tech, the internet would constantly drop for both my neighbors and myself. Termination of Service: (0/10) When I was moving away, I had to terminate my service with Brighthouse. This was the worst experience I have ever had with any company as far as customer service was concerned. In total it took 9 hours on the phone/internet chat with customers service, 3 pickup appointments and a Better Business Bureau Claim to have them retrieve their modem from my house. So let me begin this with the bad news about my experience, although it ended up not being Bright House Networks' fault. We signed up for the bundle that included the Digital TV, Phone, and High-Speed Internet, which was pretty cheap at only $100 for everything. I was pleasantly surprised at how many awesome features the Digital TV offers and how fast the internet speed ended up being. The only complaint I had was that the internet would occasionally work and then not work every day. I've had this problem in the past with AT&T, who told me it was the router... The difference with AT&T was that my phone would disconnect as well. Anyway, I called Bright House to tell them what was happening and Shay (the girl I talked to) set up an appointment for a tech to come out the next day between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. No one every showed up, so I called Bright House and told them and they sent someone out between 6:00 pm and 8:00pm. The tech didn't arrive until about 7:45 pm, but I figured that he probably had another house he had to go to before us so I didn't mind. He told us that someone was probably tapping into our cable line and fixed some wiring outside. Needless to say, after he left, the internet went out again. I got angry and called Bright House again - they credited my account $23 for the lack of internet and asked me if I would like another tech to be sent to my home. Since it was too late at night, I asked them to send another tech the next day and the appointment was set up for 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Adrian was right on time, knew exactly what my problems were and was extremely personable. He fixed the problem in less than an hour, gave us a new router, told me what to do if this ever happens again, and he even stayed to make sure the internet stayed on. Turns out that the original router that they set us up with was faulty, so they gave us a new one for free and my internet hasn't had a single hiccup since! read more

Worst customer service! I moved to FL from NJ. While in NJ I set up my Duke energy, then they redirected the line to brighthouse to try to sell me cable. I wasn't expecting to buy cable right away, due to the lack of money I own. The gentleman on the line offered me all the deals and I said I do not want any, and also I had to talk it over with my boyfriend. The gentleman on the phone said, "well alright, why don't we make a date when you get to FL and we will call to talk over again with the deals, in case you change your mine." Well alright, I thought that was fair and nice. So we get to FL, and boyfriend and I decide to only get internet and use Netflix. I'm about to call Brighthouse to make an appointment to get internet, when I see I got an email confirmation from Brighthouse. The email said that a technician was coming to my apartment in a week to set up my cable/internet/phone bundle. I called right away and said that I never confirmed this action. I told the lady about the convo I had with the gentleman up in NJ. She apologized and said she "cancelled" that appointment. We went along to set up the internet appointment though, and then I waited. The day came for the internet, but the technician came to do the entire bundle. I told him that I cancelled, but he was never notified. They seriously have some communication problems, for this technician had a WEEK to know in advance about the cancellation. Never-the-less, he went ahead to set up my internet. What he did and said next totally baffled me. "I'm going to show you how to use the access code for the wifi and how to use the router. But DON'T TELL ANYONE! I technically have to charge you $30 bucks for this" Are you kidding me? You charge your customers how to use your product? What type of f***** concept is that? I thanked him, and totally appreciated what he did, but I just can't wrapped my brain around that. Now for paying my bill. I've been trying to pay my bills online, but I can't not sign up. Every time I try to sign in, Brighthouse says to check my email to confirm. But the email is NEVER sent. I try to call up to get help, but I never get a person on the line. It's always busy and I end up waiting 1/2. I hang up cause I have to go to work etc. How hard is it to hire more staff? Seriously though, I don't have cable. Horrible. They randomly added a home phone charge to my bill for no reason, I have never owned a home phone. When I asked for a refund they refused. I gave up and decided to cancel my cable (I cant cancel my internet as they are the only provider in the area). They have now made me wait around my house during their 2 hour windows to come pick up these cable boxes THREE TIMES. I wait the full 2 hours, they never show up, then they call and try to reschedule for later. I dont have all day to sit around and wait for bright house to come pick up their cable boxes. Oh and they will try to raise your bill once a year unless you call in and ask about "special promotions", which is code for "we will raise your rates unless you explicitly call and complain about the rate increase. The worst ever! Since they became Spectrum I didn't think it possible they could get worse but I was wrong. I was "switched" to Spectrum because I complained about my price increase - from $164 pm for expanded basic cable and internet, to nearly $180. I specifically asked how much changing to a seasonal hold would be and was told it would be approximately $10.00 per month. I paid my bill in full for services from 5/24 to 6/8 and went on seasonal hold effective 6/8 and now, three weeks later, my bill due is nearly $32.00. This doesn't make sense. Brighthouse/spectrum is such an annoying cable provider. Most cable providers are annoying but brighthouse is even more so. Unfortunately I don't have other worthwhile options. I do like the channel selection that I currently have. There's two issues that give them a low review from me: 1) it's been two years and they never buried the cable line. I've never seen this before with other providers. Multiple people from their company have come out and said "I'll place a work order" and then nothing ever happens. Luckily my HOA hasn't given me a fine but they do ask about it. 2) I called asking for less expensive cable options. They offered to "work with me" by offering a service with LESS channels that costs MORE. I was baffled by this because why even offer that to me. #stupid read more

Amazingly Bad. I have had them Brighthouse/Spectrum at this location for 3 years. My WiFi goes in and out. Customer service (LOL) is now outsoursed and she starts making eccuses. Maybe because I have too many devices or it's the microwave (which is not on) Hello, I am 71. I have a laptop and a smart phone. Same as I had when everything worked. The only new thing here in the last year is their inept service. The last time I scheduled them to come out was 4 months ago. They were no show/no calls twice. Four hours after they were supposed to show the third time, I finally talked to a supervisor. He made them come out, but the new boxes the supervisor promised he did not have, and "were not necessary", according to the non-Brighthouse tech. Not only did they raise the price but before that, they lied to me and told me they would lower the price and give me the same cable with new boxes and better, faster internet. I scheduled the new and improved equipment replacement, then got the bill. Not only were they charging me more but also a $50 charge for the tech visit. Bright house never charged for visits to fix or update equipment and I was never told I would be charged. Brighthouse is horrible, but it is my only option for Internet at my home. Both my husband and myself work at home, and his Mac won't hold onto the network. We had full TV service on a bundle but ended up canceling that in favor of DirectTV. So much better. I think part of the issue is Brighthouse uses outdated equipment, like this giant UBEE cable modem. The piece of crap can't deal with the awesome Mac, but my PC hangs on pretty good. We had several cable boxes fail. They must have been to my house 50 times in the last 7 months since I moved here. Come on Verizon or DirectTV, expand your internet service area. They lie to you.. they send you over mail a deal for $35 dollars 75 lightning internet, when you call they say oh yes no problem no problem you will pay that amount only .28 cents more for taxes and 4 dollars more for router.. and, no installation fees for 12 months..I ask the guy are you sure? no more hidden charges?... I have been a Brighthouse customer for over 20 years and never had a problem with their service. I was given prompt and courteous service on all levels so it was very disturbing to me that when I called to reduce my bill I was told that since I would no longer be in a bundle that I would have to pay 96.00 a month for Internet service. When I told both the customer service rep and a supervisor that a co worker of mine just did the same thing and was offered $40/month for 12 months because they valued her business I was essentially told too bad. I've been paying over $150/month since I can remember so where is the value of my business? We lovingly call them BH...butt heads. We switched from Direct TV to BH due to area coverage. From day 1, my landlord told me don't use them and we opted not to listen. The installer was rude and could not speak good English (Russian I think) and then we had to call them back but they could not come out for another week. Their automated phone system sucks too.
