I've only been to one other Brighton location and this one held up to the high standard. I could spend hours perusing the merchandise! Such trendy, up-to-date styles of bags (my items of choice). :) They have such well-made jewelry and small accessory items, too. It was a quiet evening when I arrived and while there was just one employee working, she was polite and respectful, and not pushy. I love service such as this! The Brighton team at this location knows and loves their merchandise. The company's recent push to have options for customizing purses with different straps, decorative fobs or scarves, means that assistance from the staff is very helpful. They also are aces at creating charm bracelets and necklaces, personalized for your taste. Many cute and colorful options are added to the collection each season. They are big supporters of breast cancer awareness and research via the annual Power of Pink events in October. So happy that they've chosen Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara as their local nonprofit to receive funds again this year! read more

I was in Westlake Village much of this weekend and needed a special birthday gift for my ex-husband's mother who is turning 90 (!!) next week. (Yes, I very much stay in touch with her, divorce or not.) I elected to stop into Brighton Collectibles because (a) I love their jewelry both in terms of its visual appeal and its quality, (b) I love their mission - so much of their proceeds go towards breast cancer research, and (c) it was conveniently located for where we were today. The selection was (almost) overwhelming, but because a very nice, helpful store employee immediately asked if I needed assistance, she made my search so very easy. At first we looked at the plethora of necklaces, but I actually ended up with a bracelet.... that I love. I hope my mother-in-law loves it, too. So many things to choose from.... and I won't even say how many things I wanted to buy. My brain was figuratively drooling with desire. The irony is that I have never bought myself anything from this store because it's definitely on the pricey side. A bit steep for my pocketbook..... but how many people turn 90 in my life? So far, my mother-in-law is it.... she deserves it !! I also bought this really cute, bejeweled note pad that soooooooooooo fits the personality of one of my co-workers. I don't need the gift right now, but Christmas is right around the corner, and it had HER name on it (again, figuratively speaking). Anyway, I had such a pleasant experience in this store, and the store employee was thoughtful, helpful and very sweet. I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad for this place. I was ready to give this place one star as I have been here several times and it always drives me mad as its usually full of trolls that jump all over you the minute you walk in trying to over sell you something. But this was NOT the case yesterday. OK I didn't get a hello when I walked in for at least 3 or 4 minutes but then a rather pretty young lady came over and asked if she could help. I was in to buy a bracelet for my wife for her birthday. She showed me the selection, I chose my favorite, she responded "good choice" I'll ring you up and off I went. She gift wrapped it for me in a little baggy and waved me off with a wee smile of perfect California teeth! Most pleasant. Glad I didn't get the manager though, she was a bit of a boiler! haha! Considering the other reviews, perhaps they have read the and upped their game? Love the store and their stuff though. Nice and not too pricey! read more

What a fun and friendly place to shop at . I walked in just to look around after my workout and was so impressed with the way I was treated . There were 2 very knowledgeable employees on the floor that really made me feel so welcome and special .With their help and without even realizing, I ended up finding so many Christmas gifts . I love Brighton and if you try their product you will too. Today I drove to get a special gift for my classroom aide. I was helped immediately and found just a darling wallet-just what I wanted for her. Immediately my Brighton employee knew an appropriate price area without my having to feel overwhelmed. Or like I needed to say under a hundred please. I am a teacher and I wish I had more funds because my aide is worth a million. She found something neutral and just right for her age. Perfect size. Their wallets are all I ever carry-last forever and look wonderful. So I know my aide will value that. I added a lovely new lanyard to hold her ID. And guess what???? I scored a free tote bag. Oh, it was all smiles until I said I had an exchange. The bracelet was purchased as a gift by my in law in Vegas. The first sales lady seemed flustered by the fact I had no receipt even though it was a current Brighton bracelet on their website. The second woman ( presumably the manager) sniffed at me and told me some story about how they can't exchange it because it's from the Vegas store, which is owned by a different "family" and leased from Brighton and blah, blah, blah, blah. Which is a load of crap because I walked out the door, down the street to the Thousand Oaks location, where a lovely young lady graciously helped me.. I ended up purchasing an additional anklet, along with another bracelet. Those Westlake women need to take a course in customer service. I worked as a manger at Nordstrom in years past, and that kind of self serving smug pretentiousness would never fly under my watch. Get it right or get to steppin'.... read more

I walked in just before noon and was ignored. I looked around and selected a pair of earrings to give as a gift. Two saleswomen were wrapping a single customer's purchases and completely ignored me for ten minutes. When another clerk showed up, I tried to pay, but when she saw I had cash, she sniffed that she couldn't take me at the one unoccupied register. She then waited on someone else. Another few minutes went by before I was finally helped. The women working at ths location are aloof and have no people skills. There's another location in Thousand Oaks. Since they first opened this store I have been a regular customer & have been thankful to be able to pop in for a needed impromptu gift or personal treasures. Holiday shopping is a special experience in this store & I always love the time spent selecting special gifts for the special people in my life.The last three visits it seems as if they were out of everything I went in to buy. Appears they are focusing on their bigger ticket items. Most everyone in this location is welcoming & helpful without being pushy. Unfortunately that isnt the case with a sales clerk named Linda. She appeared uptight, seemed impatient and agitated, seemed as though she felt she was doing me a favor by helping me. She imposed her tastes onto me & when I wasn't overly enthusiastic, though I was polite, she became perturbed with me, insisting "she likes it!" Wow!!! So uncomfortable! Although I found something to buy, I left there feeling insulted. I heard her directing an employee to do this or that & she was curt with another customer. I should have walked out of the store right then, but I kept on my mission to leave with a gift I'd gone in to buy. The purpose for this specific review, is that with local Brighton store closures, I will be traveling to alternate locations to avoid this experience again. It's the 1st time I have had such an experience at ANY Brighton store. Despite the disappointment of having less than a full stock in the store, this clerk was the impetus to write this review. Two stars because the store is clean, organized & in a convenient location. It's just not right for a store so historically steeped in customer care/customer service to hire someone who can undo its past excellence in this way. It does a disservice to the other hard working ladies who are customer oriented & who take pride in building their own customer relations. read more
