Cute boutique and selection, well merchandised/displayed and contrary to some of the other reviews, I've found the people working there to be darling and lovely. That's what makes shopping at a boutique feel more like a special experience than a chore. Everything is great until it isn't. Today was my "isn't". I bought several things recently that I love with the intention of buying more today, which I didn't have time to try before. I also brought along with me one of the oversized shirt/jackets I'd gotten in a medium to exchange for a small. They're a fall item and most (if not all) just like it were still there on the rack. They're not particularly well made (pockets hang below the hem/not on purpose;), but stylishly fun so I purchased anyway. I'd just recently removed the tag and didn't have the receipt with me. I could probably have gone home to retrieve it. She said they had a 14 day return policy. I said it hadn't been that long ago, and she looked it up in their computer. It had been 19 days. I felt her discomfort/reticence as she was fairly sure the owner wouldn't budge...which was pretty shocking to me. Sweet girl went in the back to call the owner and ask...I could hear her. She came out and apologetically said since I didn't have the receipt (it's in their computer!) or tag, she was sorry she couldn't do anything. I'm a business owner and can't imagine relating to my clients that way. It was an exchange for the exact same top in a smaller size. There's now a complete energy shift in the way I see/feel the place now. This had nothing to do for me with money or a perceived unfairness. I totally understand the reasons for basic policies/guidelines that help an owner maintain some consistency with their staff/inventory, etc. But that hardline approach, specifically from the owner on the phone when potentially fostering a direct relationship with a client who is right there and continuing to shop, will backfire. I'd give this shop zero stars if it were an option...not because it may appear I'm upset. I'm not. I can and will wear the top in the bigger size. That's not it. I simply believe there are other small businesses with more heart connection to the goods/services they're providing in exchange for abundance and who have a genuine concern for the experience of the clientele...(and perhaps for their employees.) Those are the people/businesses I want to support. I doubt losing my business is of matter here...but lessons show up whenever they do. Mine is to shop elsewhere. For the owner? ‍ read more

I've been shopping here for years. I always loved Rebel, but there's been a serious shift in energy. I've never been one to review, but I was shocked by the change in atmosphere. First of all, the customer service is non-existent. Nobody greets you when you walk in or starts a room for you like they used to- and asking for help quickly becomes awkward because no one seems to have an answer for anything. On my most recent visit, I had come into the store to try on some dresses and didn't find anything, after leaving the store and browsing their website, I call to to see if something was in stock to which they confirmed they did. I even called back before closing to say I couldn't make it that day and if they could hold it one more day, to which they said they would. To my surprise, when I arrived at the store the next day I was told they actually did not have the item- which no one bothered to inform me. Stuff happens, so I didn't make a fuss. Desperate to find a last minute dress for my engagement party, I searched the racks and found something to wear. As I go to check out, I presented them with a gift card that was gifted to me and was then informed that the person who rung up the gift card never activated it and that I should come back and talk to the owner another day, but without a receipt they can't deem the gift card valid. Understandable. No worries. I bought the dress anyways. Fast forward to my engagement party, the dress falls apart on my body. I didn't have anything else so I just had to wear it. I called the store to let them know, the girl who answered took a message and said she would have a manager call me back about what they can do. Several days go by, I never heard back. So I decided to call back and inquire about it again. The manager answers and she has no idea what I'm talking about. No one told her anything. She was extremely apologetic and worked it out with me over the phone. When I came back to return the dress, the girl working there made the entire interaction very uncomfortable and making comments about "how weird it is that there was something wrong with the dress" and how she would have "noticed it and there was snags in it when she was folding it to put it in my bag." I felt embarrassed as if I was in the wrong, and so uncomfortable. Which I feel like shouldn't happen. In the end, I got an exchanged dress. So it worked out. But those girls need some customer service skills. Tamela you are a god send and you deserve a raise because you are literally the best employee there! Rebel Violet is literally my favorite boutique in Thousand Oaks. Not only is the aesthetic so incredibly beautiful, but the girls who work their are always so sweet! This say so much considering how rude employees are at the rest of the boutiques in the area. They always go out of their way to make you feel at home. The fashions here are always so on point. They are current and very on trend. Rebel Violet offers a range of brands, from super affordable to more pricey (free people, etc), but there is a perfect balance between the two. My only issue is falling in love with the gorgeous free people pieces that they stock! Overall I adore Rebel Violet and all of their stylish offerings, in addition to the beautiful atmosphere and fantastic customer service! read more

Terrible business practice of jacking prices up on clothes. We purchased 2 sweaters at $40 a piece for my daughters, we went to Topanga Mall found same exact sweaters for $20 a piece. Be advised everything sold in this establishment is 1/2 the price at mall stores. The help is very annoying, Done shopping here , between my wife and 3 daughters and all my kids friends you lost a lot of customers. Plus all their Chokers break. Worst boutique I will never go there. I walk in, no greeting or anything. I get dirty looks from one of the girls working. Two young girls were working and one shot me dirty looks the entire time. I walk into the dressing room to try on a dress and ask my mom to come look at me in it. The girl yells at us for "more than one person in the dressing room" when my mom was literally looking at me in it. The tone was very condescending and I was so confused on why she couldn't look at me in the dress. I was going to buy the dress and shoes, but after that treatment I walked out and will not ever going be going back. I will tell everyone else I know to not go there, solely because of that one girl. I visited on 10/13/2019 at 1:30, so maybe she can be called out on her behavior. One of the girls looked apologetic and seemed nice, but the other one was absolutely horrible. read more

Rebel Violet is one of my favorite boutique stores in the Thousand Oaks area. It has a variety of clothing, footwear, candles, trinkets, and just overall has a pleasant atmosphere. The staff is friendly, they ask if you need help and give you your space if you don't. I am quite puzzled by everyone's reactions on price. This is a boutique store - not Forever 21. Every girl who is a boutique shopper knows that you spend a little more while not having to dig through mounds of less than par clothing. And for the record, I don't feel that their prices are any more than any of the other boutiques in the area. This is a business - they keep it competitive with other stores of similar value and quality. I have been to this shop a few times and the clothes are very cute! The few times I have been in the customer service was horrible. If I get help or ask if I need help and like stuff I have no problem spending money. My daughter had bought me something that I returned and they gave me a store credit. A few months went by and I went to use it. They told me that it had already ben used. One: I never used it and two: my daughter never used it. They told me it had been used on a day that I was never in the store. I doubled checked all my bank records and even had my daughter check hers just incase, we did not use my store credit. I wanted to get more information on this transaction because this is not right! The assistant manager had to look into it and call me back. She called me back and told me the amount of my credit and that the balance of the transaction was paid in cash. She was not able to tell me what was bought because they did not keep records longer than 6 months. If you run a business correctly you should have all transaction records of what was sold. So basically someone used my store credit and this shop stole our money. They could have even done the right thing and offered some type of discount off a future purchase, they did absolutely nothing. I do not like to give bad reviews, I just have never had an experience like this before. Terrible management and customer service. This did happen last year and I did not even want to write this but it has been bothering me for a while. I needed to let people know so this does not happen to you. read more

My best friend and I came across this boutique when I was getting my nails done next door. Super cute! High price point but very unique dresses/rompers. I almost always leave with a pile of things I love. Great customer service! I can't even pick up an item off the rack without an employee immediately offering to place it in the dressing room for me! This store is one of the worst places I've walked into in awhile. Started shopping but it was impossible because they jam pack so many clothes onto their racks so things are falling off and I can't even get a good look at the clothes. Once I got ahold of some things I found and wanted to try on, no one helped me into the dressing rooms. While I was trying on clothes I noticed a lot of imperfections, along with how cheaply the clothes were made, I could buy better things at Forever 21. The prices of the clothes didn't help either, overly priced for cheap clothes!! Guys don't shop here!!! The employees weren't nice, the clothes were cheaply made and just a hassle of a place to be. My one star isn't even right, I would give them a 0!!!! read more

We were so sad when Pegasus in Thousand Oaks closed as we used to be regular customers and love the owner. We looked forward to trying out this place and upon arrival we were immediately excited as we saw they sold familiar brands we love like Frankie bikinis and Free People. As we shopped around we noticed the customer service was lacking being that we as the customers (new at that) were the ones to start conversation with the sales girl, it proceeded to get worse as time went on. She told us we could only have 5 items to a room which is fine but then never showed her face again to ask if she could bring the other items in the room. So my daughter went and did the exchange of items for me as I was half clothed in the dressing room trying on bikinis. Then my daughter came in my room to help me decide which bikini I would purchase. The sales girl not only rudely but also shouting across the boutique scolded at us that only one person may be in a fitting room. Of course I understand having precautions about having more then one to a fitting room but I really don't think she needed to yell it across the whole boutique, and clearly this is a mother/daughter situation, not two teens. In short she cost the boutique minimum $300 dollars as we decided if we are not able to comfortably show each other our bikinis without having to showcase ourselves outside of the dressing room we would rather just buy the suits on the frankies bikinis website. We wont be back and we suggest they get better customer service and not be so snobby and rude. I'm not sure I agree with the enforcement of the one per room policy in general, but even if I did, a sensitive kind clerk would have quietly and kindly softly stated, ladies I wish I didn't have to ask you please to not share one room, but my manager made the rule. She had several young co-workers there, and they were too busy engaging to care how the outsiders felt. read more

I have been coming to this store since it opened and have been treated nicely thus far. But this past week I went in and the owner of the store left right as I was walking in with my girl friends. One of her associates, (a women probably in her 30's or 40's) was there for the last hour of the store being open and I have absolutely NOTHING good to say about her. Seriously the worst service i've ever experienced. She made me and my friends feel like we were taking up her time, didn't help us out at all, made it feel like we were doing something wrong, acted annoyed when we asked a question, and was just overall a rude person and unpleasant person. When working ANYWHERE you should make the customer feel welcome. I felt the exact opposite of this. I will not be returning here. Hope you can find some new nice employees! :) read more

Horrible service and lack luster wholesale clothing sold a at premium price. Went into the store today and just wanting to browse. The blonde associate made it a point to treat me as though I was potentially stealing (I've worked in retail before, I know exactly what she was doing). This left me a bit perturbed and quiet but I still managed to find some items I liked. As I was being checked out the associate had the audacity to tell me that I "needed to lighten up" and then directed the conversation to the other customers in the store saying quite loudly that I was "so miserable". Considering the fact that I spent a couple hundred in that store, the associate needs to check the attitude, learn a bit about customer service and brush up on proper loss prevention methods. I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. First of all their store is probably one of the cutest in town, has a great selection, great customer service, & their store front is put together so nicely & entire store is kepy very clean & in order. There is an abundance of different style clothes to chose from which I love because it's not catered to any single type of person. All the girls that work there that I've met are so incredibly friendly & greet you right as you open the door. The owner has beautiful hand made dream catchers all over the store for sale as well as many gift items for purchase such as jewelry, candles, sun glasses, cute little dishes to hold your rings in & much more! I've gotten baby shower, bridal shower, & birthday gifts from here for all my friends as well as many clothing & shoe items for myself! Anytime I'm in the area I make it a point to stop by because they always have new items to try on.
